One detail I love is that Strange is all defensive and even sassy when the Illuminati start accusing him and calling him the real threat, but when Charles expresses his faith in him to set things right, there's such a genuine relief and gratitude in Strange's voice when he says "thank you". Sometimes all it takes is a little more faith and trust, and a little less hostility.
The reason this feels like a horror movie is because it was directed by Sam Raimi who did the original Evil Dead movies and he would eventually go on to do the tv series. The Evil Dead also involves a very evil book called the Necronomicon ex Mortis aka the Book of the Dead. If you haven't seen them, you should check them out. Raimi learned to do a lot of his weird and tricky camera shots in those films and would eventually use them in the Spider-Man movies he made with Toby. He also used the same techniques in Drag me to Hell and now Doctor Strange MOM. Also an easter egg Raimi likes to throw in every one of his movies. He will always stick his car, an Oldsmobile Delta 88, in every one of them. It is in every Evil Dead movie and the tv seres. Drag me to Hell, The Spidey movies (Uncle Ben drove it) and it's also in this movie too. The Evil Dead remake also has it too.
I'm really glad they used Sam Raimi for this movie. This felt like a true but good horror movie, not one of those cheesy ones where all they use is lots of blood and jump scares

Multiverse of Madness catches a lot of flack but I liked it. I wanted an Evil Dead style Sam Raimi horror movie and that’s what he gave the audience. Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen both gave solid performances , even if some of the writing for Wanda is the one thing I didn’t like. The Illuminati cameos were also fun (particularly seeing Patrick Stewart back as Charles) and frankly Raimi nailed the teams’ arrogance blowing up in their faces like it often does in the comics (ie them causing the Secret Invasion storyline)
Honestly I liked the movie other than them seemingly killing off Wanda at the end but apparently she survived so I got no complaints...

That sequence of Strange fighting Strange with music and then the zombie cloak is so weird, so original and just so cool.
I still wish we would have gotten Derricksons version on the big screen. But maybe Derricksons version with these two scenes.
That music note scene was actually jokingly suggested by Danny Elfman and they loved it.
I'm really glad you enjoyed this one because I feel too many people missed the boat on this one. It's exactly the kind of story Marvel was doing in the 70's and having Sam Raimi put his stylistic stamp on it was chefs kiss. It's not for everyone but it's so much fun in you're receptive to the MCU doing other things.

The Fantastic Four is Marvel's First Family. One of the first books to come out after the introduction of Spider-Man in Amazing Fantasy vol. 1 #15.
Scientist Reed Richards, his girlfriend Susan Storm, her brother Johnny Storm and Reed's college friend Benjamin Grimm were attempting to study Cosmic Radiation via a rocket of Reed's design. They all ended up being exposed to the cosmic rays resulting in superpowers based on their personalities.
Reed Richards was always trying to expand his understanding so he became super malleable able to stretch his body taking on the name Mr. Fantastic. Susan Storm felt that no one paid her attention so she became The Invisible Woman. Johnny was a bit of a hothead with his temper so he became the Human Torch. Ben Grimm was a tough strong football player he became the rocky Thing.
Together they became known as the Fantastic Four. First appearance Fantastic Four vol. 1 #1. November 1961 - Writer Stan Lee, Artist Jack Kirby. 😅
"Eyeliner" is Clea a sorceress and love interest for Dr. Strange. Also the niece of the Dread Dormammu of the Dark Dimension. 😮

Slight correction, FF came first. Followed by Ant-Man, Hulk, Thor and then Spider-Man.
So Spider-Man gets introduced in Amazing Fantasy #15 August 1962 just before it got cancelled. It's cancellation determined before his appearance. Iron Man in Tales of Suspense #39 March 1963. Ant-Man in Tales to Astonish #27 in January 1962. Thor in Journey into Mystery #83 August 1962. All of these heroes appeared in publications that proceeded before the Marvel Superhero era began. The Fantastic Four appeared first in their own title dedicated to them exclusively in November 1961. Which predated all of the above.
It was my understanding that Stan Lee was unhappy with the direction of Marvel comics at the time and it was his wife Joanie who talked him into doing a book that he wanted to do and since they were cancelling Amazing Fantasy anyways he had nothing to lose by slipping a superhero appearance in. So hence my surprise that FF predated that. Weird. 😮

I do recommend watching the Fantastic Four and X-Men, especially as they're about to be incorporated into the MCU. John Krasinski was a popular fan casting for Mr. Fantastic, but now they've announced the main casting for the upcoming MCU Fantastic Four.
This movie was supposed to be before No Way Home. America was going to open portals instead of Ned. But the pandemic changed the release schedule and they had to change some stuff.
So, the director of this movie was Sam Rami, who was the same person who directed the Toby McGuire Spider-Man movies... but more importantly to this one... he directed the Evil Dead movies, and he really brought a lot of that into this. He even brought his permanent cast member of Bruce Campbell, who has made cameos in all of the movies that he's directed (even if he isn't staring in them). Wanda in the comics isn't a hero like we've gotten through the MCU movies (for the most part). She's actually the daughter of a villain, and... trauma really _does_ seem to be her lot in life. In one universe, when her brother died, she snapped and made it so that no more mutants would ever appear in that universe. Honestly pretty wild stuff all around with her.
Now... I don't think Wanda died... I think that the flash of red was her magic whisking her away... so that everyone would think that she was properly dead and would just leave her to be alone with her misery. Tragic, yeah... but a lot better than her tearing the universe apart trying to fight against it.
Blade, X-Men, Fantastic 4, Ghost Rider, are going to appear soon in the MCU, it would be good to see the previous movies of these characters

Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier is indeed one of the best points of the X-Men series, both the movies and cartoons. He is such a joy to watch. And yeah, this was much more of a horror movie than any other Marvel movie. I'm pretty sure most of that is due to Sam Raimi, who is a lover of the horror genre. I loved it, and loved watching your reactions! :)

I am so glad you finally got around to watching Dr. Strange's mom. She's a handful, I know!
One plot hole that bugs me about this movie is that all the fighting and killing could've been entirely avoided if Strange actually offered to help her. If the Multiverse is truly infinite, then there must be at least one where Tommy and Billy don't have a mother. If Strange and Wanda worked together and helped America master her powers, they could've found that universe and taken Wanda there so she could be with them. But yeah, I know that there would be no movie if they did that, and the Darkhold was influencing Wanda's mind. But Strange doesn't even try such an obvious approach. They're friends and fellow Avengers, and Wanda is clearly hellbent on doing this no matter what. At least have him ask her and afford her the opportunity.
That was a very similar problem I had with one of Sam Raimi's other superhero movies, Spider-Man 3. A lot of bad stuff happens in that movie that also could've been completely avoided if the main characters had just talked it out for 10 minutes. The conflict in your plot is pretty weak if it can be resolved rather easily with a brief sit-down between characters who were already friends.
Wong literally asked the same question to Wanda and she replied that," In the infinite multiverse, there is a solution for each an every problem. Therefore, I want America's powers. By doing that, I would never loose my boys again."
Strange knows what kind of corruption Darkhold imposes on its reader. He knows that trying to argue with a darkhold reader is never going to work out. The corruption in their mind is gonna present them with such a counter argument which they feel is 110% correct.
Everyone said The Eternals was the worst Marvel movie but Doctor Strange said 'hold my beer'.
Marvel should have done this way earlier, movie may have been all over the place like a rollercoaster but I watched it in theaters with my mom and it was great. Very much spooky vibes.
This is a Sam Raimi movie. He did the Tobey Spider-Man movies and got his start with the Evil Dead franchise from the 80s. I would definitely recommend you check them out.

This movie really was about "MoM!" America's moms, and being a mom. Take out any of those factors and the movie does not happen! Pizza Ball guy (who punches himself in the movie) is played by Bruce Campbell, who has a lot of collaborative (and somewhat comedic and horrific) films with Sam Raimi. All the way back to the 80s, with Evil Dead (watch the 2nd and 3rd movies in that series... they are more fun than horrific) and even into the Spider-Man movies with Tobey Maguire!

My fixes.
It should have just been called Multiverse of Madness.
Take America out and give her her own film.
First act:
show us the Witch going through multiple earths looking for kids, show us she is destroying the fabric of reality as she searches.
Each Earth show us a Sorcerer Supreme and Allies fight her and lose. She moves on to the next Earth.
Act two:
Mcu strange goes to WandaVision town investigating. Finds and frees Agatha, learns what happened, learns about Darkhold.
While he's there Hawkeye shows up, saw news about Wanda and town. Clint and Strange travel to the Earths she already damaged and which are now filled with Madness. Hop earth to be earth to track her down.
Act three:
Mcu Strange and Clint arrive on an earth currently dealing with the Witch. Team ups with whoever writers want.
Super people and magic people can't beat her. Clint brings her back to sanity.
He's the one who brought her around in age of Ultron. He's the one that brought her around in civil war. He lost his family to the snap and resorted to evil and violence and death to cope.
Wanda fights Scarlet Witch. Wanda wins. Strange brings them back. Wanda gives herself up to multiple authorities and is put on trial for WandaVision events in normal ish courts, and wizards confront her on multiverse crimes.
She can finish what Civil War started with her character arc. She's still around for future films, now rehabilitated.

And Clint is not going to be able to convince her this time. All the other times when clint convinced her, she was still in her senses. But this time, she had completely lost herself to the Darkhold. The darkhold's corruption in her mind would not get convinced by anyone.

People have internal struggles all the time. They fight themselves. Should I do the moral thing that will cost me or should I do the corrupt thing that benefits me in the short term?
Clint able to or not able to is down to writing. There's no universal truth that dictates which way that would go.
Besides Vision, Clint is the only person in the world/multiverse that she has a past with.

After the Sorcerer supreme for each world fails to stop her/turn her, we see how strong the Darkhold is.
Magic won't save her from it. The magic of the Darkhold is too strong and too evil and it uses her own power to amplify it's power. Together she and the book can counter any magic thrown at her.
She was Wanda before she was Scarlet Witch and before the Darkhold.
It takes appealing to the human, sister, and mother sides of her to bring her around. Only Wanda can break the Darkhold grasp, and it takes Clint's very deep and very not magic appeals to wake up the real Wanda.
Not the guy in the metal suit with unlimited tech. Not a Norse god with magic tech. Not a super sorcerer with super magic.
The guy that shoots arrows and is the heart of the avengers. Appealing to something in her that's stronger and deeper than magic.
More magic isn't the path to sanity. Sanity is the path to sanity.
I liked the first Dr Strange, but I thought where it lacked was the use of magic. Seemed just too much like Inception. In the small portions we got to see him in Infinity War/ Endgame, it was much better.
I wasn't sure what to expect from a Strange sequel but once I heard it was going to be Raimi at the helm, I was all in. Did not disappoint at all.
Now I am looking forward to hopefully a 3rd film so we can finally get to see Clea :)

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is a movie that skillfully honors legendary horror and supernatural masterpieces, incorporating allusions to Carrie, IT, Twilight Zone, The Exorcist, The Ring, Drag Me To Hell, Shining, The Mist, The Grudge 2, The Evil Dead, Evil Dead II Army of Darkness, and Day Of The Dead. Sam Raimi's 1973 Oldsmobile Delta 88 makes a delightful appearance in all his films, which I adore. I was also thrilled to hear the theme from X-Men: The Animated Series (TV Series 1992-1997) in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The battle between Doctor Strange and Sinister Strange was genuinely remarkable. During their journey across the Multiverse, Doctor Strange, and America, Chavez caught a fleeting glimpse of The Living Tribunal. Another I loved was the music in this film. Scarlet Witch is a complex and morally gray character. Overall, I enjoyed this movie.
Xochitl Gomez had to get recast in a Netflix series she was in to be in this.

Welcome to the mind of Sam Raimi, the mind behind the Evil Dead series
The Illuminati was pure fan service. It had Reed Richards and Prof. X from the Fox marvel films (not officially MCU canon), plus Black Bolt from the failed InHumans tv series, and alternate versions of Captain Marvel and Peggy Carter. Having John Krasinski from the Office play Reed Richards was something internet nerds had been clamoring for.. for several years. I'm not sure how well that whole Illuminati sequence works especially after learning none of those actors were in the same room together. They each green-screened their parts separately due to covid restrictions and last minute scheduling/re-shoots.
So, yes... XMan movies, Wolverine movies, F4 movies, Agents of SHIELD, Inhumans... Deadpool 1 and 2... All before Deadpool 3...
Here’s a fact about America Chavez. She was originally gonna make her debut in Spider-Man No Way Home, but it was decided that she’ll make her first live action appearance in Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness. And Emme, if you’re wondering who Doctor West is, he’s the same character from the first Doctor Strange movie.

I love it but I'm biased. I knew some comic stuff as a kid. Mostly X-Men but I knew who Doctor Strange was and he was my favorite. Or the idea of him. The stories weren't always the best. The character reminded me of Johnny Tremain which as a kid I thought was a real profound book. I would not be surprised if I was told that was inspiration. Then add all these larger than life things he is involved in and the big magical powers. And then? I am huge fan of Sam Raimi. So yeah, I was sold before I even watched it. Else it is a fun wild ride and keeps that pace from start to finish.
Consider reacting to Marvel Studios first blockbuster film "Blade" (1998). This rated-R action horror film stars Wesley Snipes.
If you haven't watch Evil Dead franchise you should, A lot of horror elements in DS2MoM is based on that franchise because of the Director.
In a way, Wanda proved Wayward right with how dangerous she is...
The Xmen movies were cool (mostly) in release order again lol. Also Xmen 97 has just started dropping (animation, think Xmen meets Invincible I suppose). Fantasic Four wasn't as good, but they are coming to the MCU so worth a peek.

I think everybody loved the horror parts of this movie (Raimi docet) and the ingenious solutions throughout all the story (everything about zombie-Strange was absolutely genius). At the same time, many disliked how Wanda has been portraited, as we didn't really had time to see her BECOME the villain (even if she poses as the villain so many times in the comics and was on a gray line in Wandavision). And of course the Illuminati (another big thing in the comics) were so mistreated, just to offer a glimpse of fan service that in this case heavily backfired. Personally, I still find this movie highly entertaining and spectacular, despite the undeniable downfalls...

The Darkhold is pretty powerful to have corrupted Wanda. It was also in Agents of Shield.
Food is never free in any universe. We eat other living things. Food at the most minimum costs the lives of others. In a society, people don’t work to kill and gather that life used as food for free.

Wanda was possessed by darkhold she realised at the end and destroyed it that's why she said "i would never hurt anyone"

The trailers made it look like there was more at stake, like the multiverse was falling apart cause Strange was screwing with reality. Aside from that, my only real complaint is not seeing Ned at Kamar-Taj
Why would that be a complaint, I don't think there's anything that would put Ned there, he went back to his regular life after NWH

that’s why i don’t watch marvel trailers anymore, marvel is known to mislead with their trailers and in my experience movies are more enjoyable if you skip the trailers

Can you please react to the Saban’s Power Rangers 2017 Movie!!! It is a very goooood movie. You may look at the name and think it is childish and cheesy. But it is hilarious and shows the growth of friendship and trustworthy. I swear it is a must watch.❤❤❤

On a rewatch I’m much more forgiving of this movie. The action scenes are amazing and of course Sam Raimi nails the horror. I just widh they didn’t make Wanda a full villain so quickly especially after watching Wandavision.

You might want to checkout the xmen movies before you get to the Deadpool movie that is coming out in July because if you didnt know it that one will be a part of the MCU
For me this film was where marvel started to lose the balance of interconnectivity within their films and shows. Wandavision was so good but this rewrites a lot of it which is such a shame.
