THE FLYING SCOTSMAN is a great movie about a true story about Graeme Oree who built a bike out of a washing machine and set the hour record twice. They say trying a hour record takes years off your life he set a record of about 58kms just going 100% for 60 minutes. He also became world champion twice then the UCI banned his bike and his riding style THE SUPERMAN. Billy Boyd Pippen in LOTR and Johnny Lee Miller star I think it was before he married Angelina Jolee I think they met on HACKERS another good movie 👍
I agree wholeheartedly! Captain America: Civil War is the only movie I believe that may be “better” only because of the ensemble of characters and story telling.
I say it's the best one. If this same script was James Bond, Mission Impossible or some new franchise just created, it would still work and be a great movie. What sets it apart too is that it could be stand alone and it would still make sense, unlike others that rely on all the build up.
You remarked on how quickly he came up with a plan. Something a lot of people don’t get is that the serum didn’t just amplify him physically. It amplified him mentally as well. It’s the reason he can handle the shield so easily-he can calculate the right angles to throw in a fraction of a millisecond in his mind. He was considered a genius-level military strategist, which is why Fury called him the greatest soldier who ever lived.
"Even when I had nothing, I still had Bucky", that flashback scene was after Steve and Bucky had come back from the funeral of Steve's mother, where Bucky told Steve "I'm with you till the end of the line". No other line portrays Loyalty.
1:05:38 Now knowing Senator Stern was a member of Hydra, if you think back on it, his wanting Tony to turn the "Iron Man Weapon" over to the government takes on a whole new angle!
@@MrManlnBlack tbf, if Tony knew about Hydra taking over, you could guarantee that he'd be a threat to them. Same as the rest of the avengers, so it's possible they had the foresight to realize that.
I don't care what anyone says this is one of the greatest movies of all time. The Winter Soldier is too badass for words...but also - poor Bucky, what they did to him is so tragic. I love him. All of the twists are amazing , the action scenes are great, the fight scenes are better than every other MCU movie. The fight scene between Cap and Winter Soldier - I think I watched that a couple hundered times. The screenplay is fantastic - unlike the other MCU movies it feels incredibly grounded. The characters are so well written. And it also hits on an emotional level. "Then finish it. Cause I'm with you till the end of the line". Such a great moment, always makes me tear up. Sebastian Stan hardly speaks in the movie, but he doesn't even have to. His facial expression in that moment, especially his eyes are tell you everything. Such great acting. 😢❤ Bucky/ Winter Soldier is easily my favorite part of this amazing movie.
Good movie at the time but ultimately I think they made the wrong decision getting rid of shield so soon in the mcu just after phase 1. They built up shield throughout the entirety of phase 1 and then destroy it immediately here
There was a planned scene involving Hawkeye that they never filmed. After the elevator fight, and Cap is on the run, SHIELD was going to dispatch Barton to hunt him down. He catches up to Cap in a sunken roadway or drainage pass or something or another, and they start fighting towards one another, him firing arrows. They finally get up close and Cap takes him down, when Barton whispers that there is a tracker in his suit. He's actually helping him out, and tells Rogers to knock him out, which he does before escaping. That is why we never see Steve in that dark blue Captain Rogers suit for the rest of the movie. The scene was scrapped though.
Captain America’s movies are easily some of the best films in the MCU, and the scene when he runs down the deck of the ship fighting as he goes, as well as the elevator fight scene, are absolute 🔥🔥🔥.
Might just be me but I still think it’s weird he saw Wargames before Rocky and Star Trek (shown on his list but not crossed out). Maybe I just underestimate it but I feel like those two are more prolific than Wargames (although I guess because of its military significance Steve would find it more interesting)
Nat takes care of all her "boys", but the growth of her friendship with Steve over the course of the movies is very cool. That's why it still pisses me off that they... *** SPOILERS *** ...sidelined her experience in Endgame in order to play up Tony's experience more. I think it took both of them, and they both deserved equal credit. I think that was vague enough, but added the spoiler warning anyway.
This movie is just perfect. Best MCU movie hands down. It has the perfect balance between cool gritty action, seriousness and some jokes here and there that land well and never feel out of place. And on top of all that, this movie elevated Captain America from his frist two appearances, to the point he became and instant fan favourite next to Iron Man.
Same here. Not an ounce of fat here. I used to just say it was my favorite solo Marvel film, but over time some of the luster has faded with some of the others, whereas I can watch this one over and over and still retain the exact emotions I had in my 1st viewing. It is by far my favorite MCU related work.
21:54 That recruitment campaign was Operation Paperclip (which they also mention in the movie); the US recruited a bunch of German scientists for themselves after the war. Wernher von Braun is one of the most famous; he had designed rockets for the Germans and went on to work on the American Apollo space program. There were apparently other similar initiatives by the British and the Soviets, but Paperclip is probably the most famous
It was supposed to be assured that they recruited German scientists, but no nazis. Of course it turned out that many (if not all) were nazis, and the paperwork was falsified to hide that. There was also a conspiracy theory, that many nazis that were brought over with falsified papers were recruited into the beginnings of the CIA. This concept being based on that by replacing nazis with HYDRA, and the CIA with SHIELD.

"Shall we play a game?" is from the movie, WarGames, starring Matthew Broderick as a hacker who accidentally hacks into a US Government computer program (while trying to find a video game company's servers) that is being used to run nuclear wargames scenarios (as well as more mundane games to teach it strategy). The computer asks if he wants to play a game. he picks "Global Thermonuclear War" and the computer runs simulations, while feeding the simulation to NORAD who think they're being attacked by Russians. Hey, guys. After Captain America : The First Avenger, Chris Evan's asked to upgrade the combat skills of his character. He felt the upgrade was necessary because the fighting techniques have evolved since Cap went into the ice way back in the 2oth century. He also noted that video games played a part in the decision. Those martial arts techniques are now applied to RPG avatars and would bring Cap more online with the audience. One more thing, you'll notice on Fury's tombstone part of the quote from his character in PULP FICTION is referenced. Nice reaction. Keep going and enjoy the movies.
tbh I always took Steve's improved fight skills in this movie having more to do with the Russo brothers understanding the character more and what he's capable of, than Whedon did, but it's interesting to know that Evans asked for an upgrade as well. I never felt like Joss Whedon understood Cap. This movie, to me, is more the real Cap as compared to the Avengers. You can see some of the relentless unstopability of Cap in The First Avenger, more so than in the Avengers, imo.
I lost my job this week and when watching this reaction I see so many messages. Struggles, not knowing what to do with life. Idk what to do. But for today at least I have some peace and enjoyment here with everyone.
Qunyh, you have amazing insights and understanding of these characters. You are one of the best MCU reactors I have seen, and I have seen many of them!!
Back in the first Captain America movie, Red Skull had been 'improved' by some form of experimentation similar to what Steve went through... though it affected Red Skull differently, giving him an altered appearance... they obviously didn't have the German scientist that helped Stark create the superior US version. So, we know Hydra had previously been experimenting with that same line of research, so it's probably safe to assume, by the time they captured Bucky, they had somewhat refined their serum. The cybertech arm was just a replacement for his missing real one. The Super Soldier Serum is a big part of Marvel Lore in the comics. The US's attempt to re-engineer it, was referenced in the Hulk movie as a partial cause behind the research that transformed Dr Banner.
The man with the beard at 31:40 is Ed Brubaker. The writer who created The Winter Soldier storyline that is the basis of this film. The epitaph on Nick Fury's gravestone is a nice easter egg. It is something that Jules in "Pulp Fiction" liked to say before executing people. Jules was played by Samuel L Jackson, who also plays Nick Fury.
If you want to know how "accurate" Zola's algorithm is, just look at the names again that the guy mentions. Iirc you said you have already seen the movies Nick, so you should know what i mean without spoiling anything.
51:23 Project: Paperclip was a real thing in the years following World War II, when Allied countries attempted to capture and bring to their own countries the top scientists who worked for Nazi Germany. One of the reasons the US Space Program was able to make the strides it did in the 1950's and 60's was due to scientists - perhaps the most famous being Werner Von Braun - incorporated into NASA that had worked on the German V-1 and V-2 rocket programs. The thought that the US Government (and S.H.I.E.L.D.) would do likewise with Hydra scientists in the Marvel Cinematic Universe makes perfect sense. And yes, Bucky was injected with a variant of the same type of Super Soldier serum that created Captain America. The first stage was done when Bucky and the 107th was captured by Hydra. Zola completed the work under the umbrella of S.H.I.E.L.D. after the war ended, working with the Soviets (the reason Bucky has a red star on his metal arm).
I never noticed till watching this reaction that the Helicarrier that Cap was on had its gun sights on Avengers Tower and targeting Tony Stark ...just saw his face in the right corner on the list of targets.
This thing is the sickest shit the mcu has ever done along with infinity war and endgame. this movie is so fucking sick, even after all these years its still in my top 3, so epic. plus bucky as the winter soldier has one of the best designs if not the best one of a character in the whole mcu, so dope.
She really understood the emotional part of this movie🙌🏾 more than other reactions I've seen, yes Steve was still in shock after seeing Bucky, that's why he couldn't stop thise guys from arresting him, and yes it definitely must've hurt Steve to Beat his closest companion like that and dislocate his only hand.
I’ve also seen and read a lot of idiots reactions and comments over the years about Bucky’s story, and how he feels, and why he is the way he is after The Winter Soldier. Just either managing to completely misunderstand everything, or blatantly ignore, or disregard everything done to him by Hydra and still vilify him for things he never chose to do.
What's not well known is other groups besides the US were trying to develop supersoldiers. Natasha got a version in the "Red Room" where she was trained. It wasn't as good as Erskine's, but it gave her improved strength and athletic abilities. It is why she is so good at acrobatic takedowns and only partly got hurt in this film from the rigged badge.
This episode directly links into one of the Agents of SHIELD S1 episodes. AOS was a Joss Whedon creation but had Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancheron as show runners (Joss’s brother and sister in law)
Before this movie came out, people were not thinking Captain A was going to be portray well and thinks was useless in the avengers. But the directors the Russo Brothers proved them wrong which not only made Captain America badass and important in the MCU, it gave them leads to direct Civil war and Avengers infinity and Endgame. Also fun fact: the Russo Brothers were not a fan of Captain A because he had litttle.powers so they did what it took to prove how he can be an awesome and relevant superhero . They knew how to create something boring to become very entertaining
Important to remember that Cap had very little combat experience during TFA. The choreography is very much improved, but there is a lore reason behind Cap’s fighting skills being improved. He trained intensely
Cap's old uniform is the one Bucky would remember, that's why he took it. "Project Paperclip" was a real post-World War II program where the US recruited German scientists. The most famous are the German rocket scientists who went on to develop the rockets that took us to the Moon. The Russians also tried to recruit scientists, but most of them went to the US or settled in Western Europe and South America.
Tell Nguyen I'm going to Vietnam for three months in October 2025. You two should go someday. Da Nang is beautiful with pristine beaches of white sand.
Hiring Zola and the other Hydra scientist is a direct parallel to Operation Paperclip, which is when the US and others hired a bunch of Nazi scientists. Love this film. Also alarmingly prescient, not to get too political. And the Captain's Orders scene is one of the best moments in the entire MCU.
Operation paperclip was a thing, lots of German (some to a lot Nazis scientists) came to America. The American space program started with von Braun ( I won't declare him a Nazi or clear him of being a Nazi) but he developed technology to where we are today.
Ok, Caps strength; (MCU only) When he first got his powers in world war I, he fought against basic humans. Some wearing light armor or bulky armor. He was unable to fully test the limits of his own abilities. Facing off against Red skull who had much more time with the super soldier serum. Gave Steve a bit of a glimpse into his potential. Fast forward to Avengers, now he's been woken up into the new age. What's the first thing he started doing practicing his punches. Punch after punch blow after blow he started exploding punching bags. This is all still practice him growing into his own skills. Where did that movie go to extra- terrestrial invasion against an army of heavily armored extremely adept soldiers even though they were mostly just cannon fodder. The scene where he is on top of the cop car fighting three of them and ripped one of their arms off and then kicked another through the building beside him, he started to grow into that strength. Now let's jump into winter soldier, just in the opening scenes that fight on the ship at sea, he kicked a guy so hard. He went flying off the ship, he elbowed a guy so hard. He lifted off the ground and off the ship. He is no longer pulling his punches because they are basic humans. He is now unable to pull his punches to anything lower. We progress further into the movie and as he's fighting the winter soldier their speed, strength and ability are almost even but Steve is able to persevere. The further you get into the analytics of his strength. They are all increasing movie to movie to movie but it's increasing at a very fluid rate. Whenever you see Steve in a movie from here on out, look for a moment where his own physical prowess seems to go beyond what anything else he has done before. There are a few moments that are raiding your face, but there's a couple that are extremely subtle. One much later that is in your face but the sheer scope is lost due to the moment. No spoilers and I'm absolutely enjoying the ride. -Alpharious-

the first guy Cap goes against on the ship, who could go toe to toe with him is FOMER FRENCH CANADIAN UFC CHAMPION FIGHTER GEORGE SAINT PIERRE lol they used a stunt coordinator, but yeah Cap's stunt went against a UFC fighter.
The way someone explained what was done to Bucky basically that they took away everything that made Bucky himself. They stripped his choices and free will. they also used electroconvulsive therapy which makes the mind associate memories with extreme pain I think. So every time he saw Steve or remembered anything from his life he would be in pain. It’s really so sad and inhuman what they did to him
Remember the song playing in Steve Roger's apartment when he returns to find Nic Fury there. It will tie in much later in the MCU. *Not a spoiler* per say.
This movie has roots in a particular genre from the mid 70's. Around that time there were a number of government conspiracy type movies. It was a few years after the Watergate scandal and the idea of losing trust in the government was in the air. Robert Redford, who played Director Pierce, was one of the biggest stars in the 70's and actually starred in a few of those movies "3 Days of the Condor" (about a low level CIA agent who returns to his office one day to find everyone has been assassinated and he is suddenly on the run with no one to trust) and "All the President's Men" (about the uncovering of the Watergate coverup). There is one shot in "Winter Soldier" showing the Shield headquarters along the banks of the Potomac river and you can see the actual Watergate hotel in the background.
Batroc, the French (who has a French Canadian accent here, but we don’t speak about that…) fighter at the beginning is human, but he’s a the peak of human non-enhanced potential. Imagine an Olympic gold medalist in every sport. He still has no chances against cap, but he can last longer than most people.

The epitaph on Nick Fury's gravestone is a nice easter egg. It is something that Jules in "Pulp Fiction" liked to say before executing people. Jules was played by Samuel L Jackson, who also plays Nick Fury.
The guy Steve fought in the beginning of the movie is George Saint Pierre, legendary MMA fighter
4:30 "if cap wanted to lay you out, he would have" -Tony Stark
I remember that quote but I don't remember which movie it's from or who Stark was talking to.

If you want to know how "accurate" Zola's algorithm is, just look at the names again that the guy mentions. Iirc you said you have already seen the movies Nick, so you should know what i mean without spoiling anything.
It also doesn’t need to be that accurate. If you are killing millions, killing a few hundred thousand who didn’t need to die is collateral damage
8:26 So Nick knows ultimate fighting and Dana White, but didn't recognize GSP, even though he was fighting Cap?
Beyond comics this is a wonderful and timely deconstruction of the military industrial complex.
Freakinh love the movie❤ Bucky is my BOY! Plus we get to meet Sam!! One of my favourites too!
25:44 Watching this and Agents and Shield, so much just mixes together. I love it!
My headcanon is that Steve's been training with Natasha, that's why his fighting's more up to date in this one. :)
Batroc is played by former UFC champion and Canadian MMA fighter Gerorges St. Pierre, a world class athlete. His fight against Cap is all him.
This episode directly links into one of the Agents of SHIELD S1 episodes.
AOS was a Joss Whedon creation but had Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancheron as show runners (Joss’s brother and sister in law)
Agents of SHIELD is So. Good!
this is where it all shifts from awesome to mega-awesome
This is PEAK MCU! 🤘🏽
Batroc wasnt enhanced hes just a skilled fighter
Winter Soldier and Weapon X have something in common.
Tell Nguyen I'm going to Vietnam for three months in October 2025. You two should go someday. Da Nang is beautiful with pristine beaches of white sand.
Think she spells it Quynh but not sure!
FYI: Batroc is not "enchanced". He is played by George Saint-Pierre, one of the nicest and most baddass MMA fighters ever.
“Shall we play a game” is a phrase from the movie War Games.
"why would recruit him?"
*Nasa whistles as they leave the room*
I love Bucky, dang it.
Insane reaction of my favorite Marvel movie!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊
3:13 Well, we’re OUT of cake!
Operation paperclip was a thing, lots of German (some to a lot Nazis scientists) came to America.
The American space program started with von Braun ( I won't declare him a Nazi or clear him of being a Nazi) but he developed technology to where we are today.
17:37 The guy standing behind Pierce knows that what he's hearing is complete nonsense. His faces says it alllllll. That guy is on Steve's side too.
Someday, you might think, "i feel like I remember this song?" It's from this movie...
The hardest battles are always against those closest to you. I knew who the Winter Soldier was before this film, still makes me feel bad for him.
IDK if its be suggested to you before, but you should totally watch Agents of Shield if you havent already
Captain America is the best. I adore his character and he'll always be my favorite.
" in order to build a new world u have to tear the old one down" That's all u need to know about how sus pierce was
Kinda funny, coming from Disney, huh.
Also Steve has to keep training to keep his muscles strong
28:42 - 29:44 still one of my favourite fight scene from the MCU 🖤 ..and the reveal of Bucky!
Thats georges st pierre, an absolute legend in MMA 😍 Such a gent as well x
Ok, Caps strength; (MCU only)
When he first got his powers in world war I, he fought against basic humans.

Man, I was so looking forward to this reaction and you guys did not disappoint! Couldn't wait to see Quynh react to the reveal of Bucky as the Winter Soldier, and she was right on it! Recognized him right away, and what that would do to Steve :( She's always so smart and insightful, and it makes these reactions even more of a treat to watch. Nicely done, guys! :)
The French dude Georges Batroc is actually the UFC GOAT Georges St.Pierre aka GSP.
My favourite MCU movie
11:22 He used a lightsaber. He’s Mace Windu
Ooof that music when the Winter Soldier shows up daaaaaaaaaaaayum
That's one of the great things about the MCU, the antagonists have a valid agreement. And true belief. It's their methods which are skewed.
of course we should have vetted out the pro-NAZI ones. Verner Von Braun was forced into the party. other were all in.
a standard aircraft carrier is 13 billion
This is one of the best Avengers movies.
"Shall we play a game?" from Wargames.
Quynh, you have now watched my fav Marvel film. I love others, some are great, and move me, but this is my fav production.
the first guy Cap goes against on the ship, who could go toe to toe with him is FOMER FRENCH CANADIAN UFC CHAMPION FIGHTER GEORGE SAINT PIERRE lol they used a stunt coordinator, but yeah Cap's stunt went against a UFC fighter.
25:35 how's stephan strange is threat he didn't even gained any power's yet
This is one of my most favourite MCU movies, great storyline
This and captain America civil war are my fav mcu movies.
He is also French Canadian in reality, so it’d make sense he’d sound it.
It’s a toss up between this and Ragnarok as my second favorite MCU film. My fav is and will probably always be No Way Home
“Shall we play a game?”
Many people think this is from “Saw,” but it’s actually from the movie “War Games.”
