I’m LDS and gay... in the UK and Ireland the church and its members are a lot more open and not really as conservative as members in Utah. Our stake president held a fireside for all 18-30 lgbt within the stake and he was brilliant. It really made us all feel loved.

I love your videos and I love what a sweet and loving couple you are. I was raised Mormon, and went through High School in the 70s. Back when the church was even more homophobic than it is now. At that time, there was no internet, there was no UA-cam, and no one in professional life was out and being a positive role model. Back then, it was still thought that being gay was a choice, and not how you were born. So that put all the blame and all the guilt and all the shame on the gay individual. I'm glad that times are changing and it is so much easier to be accepted. Love you both and wish you much happiness and success

I never came out to my parents, although they knew it was never talked about. They hinted about it and made comments about someone we knew who came out as gay and what did I think. Keep up the great videos.

Hello Lync ! , i’m Canadian, and there are many things similar with US, many used to say - when US get a cold, Canada sneeze, but in fact , there are more Thant that. Canadians don’t get their life runs by religion as much it is in your country. Perhaps the jehowa witness, a bit but not much of people. How can you let any religion run even a bit of your life ? This question should be answered by both of your parents . And getting them out of your life ,is the best thing to do for your health . It’s a no negotiation thing , they accept you with all your things , your life style, the person you choose to live with, and background . Only crazy stubborn people don’t change their mind. Be happy for who you are and how you live . That’s it!

My husband and I are now 2 old gay guys (69 and 72). My husband was a good Mormon boy and got married early and had six kids. He got drafted to fight in the VietNam ware and came back disillusion with the Church.
As a result, we have 6 grown children and 13 grandchildren. 3 of the kids are active LDS. They decided that Heavenly Father would rather have them love their Dad rather than shun him because he was gay. I was at the birth of many of the grandkids. Since they have had other step-parents I told them they cold call me their "step friend". Actually, the Grandkids call me Uncle Steve which is fine with me.
While I don't believe that the Garden of Eden was in Jackson County, Missouri or that one day I will have my own planet, I have come to appreciate many of the positive aspects of the Mormon Ward structure and family life. I also recognize there are "ex-mos" (ex-Mormons) and "pro-mos" (Progressive Mormons). And the Church has evolved somewhat on gay issues -- now it is OK to be gay as long as you don't act on it -- a neat trick if you can do it.
In any event, I think y our video should be helpful to other kids growing up Mormon.

Our main relationship has been with our kids and grandkids some of whom are active LDS and are accepting of us as a couple.

Loving a member of your own sex rather than falling in love with (and getting a soulmate)of a person of the opposite gender should not matter in the slightest….it isn’t and shouldn’t be a big deal!!…I’m not talking about promiscuity or lust but loving committed gay relationships.Sexual love is just a part of love…and being gay is a LOVE ORIENTATION not just a sexual one.

I realize this video is three years old now in June of 2023. But I would have asked what made you feel like you had to start deciding about making a decision about yourself. In other words, how did you first get to this stage. Were you finding boys attractive? Did you go as far as fantasizing what sex with a guy would be like, even kissing a guy. Did you first experience these things before you started tell yourself that you must be gay. And the fact becoming you have none of these thoughts about a girl at school.

One thing you said i can't get out of my mind is your parents have never been around a gay person. I can assure they have, only they just didnt know it. Mormonism makes people keep that secret about themselves, just as you did. It would be nice if churches would meet gay people so rhey understand it more. There have been some that met with Mormon church leaders to discuss the issue and how they might change in ways to work towards acceptance. Needless to say, that was not happening. Changing a religion in that way is near impossible to do, no matter how much leaders learn on the sibject if gay. Too focused on build this perfect life of God, the only thing they know how to do.
I'm so happy that your parents has been open to you and Canyon and accepting your relationship as best they can. They didn't shit you out, something Jehovah Witness' do. They tell that child they can never speak to them or their siblings ever again. No communication by phone, email, text, nothing. Which is very, very sad. So feel lucky and blessed and never take for granted that you have your parents as some part of your life.

So why are there so many religions all claiming their unique route to God? The answer is that they are all man-made fairy tales mostly written in an age when world literacy was low and the knowledge of science, mathematics and the universe was much less than it is today. Even today we know very little about it, but enough to debunk many of these so-called religious myths.
There is obviously a creative force at work which is beyond human comprehension. Everything in our world is finite; it must have a beginning; and end; a boundary. We cannot grasp the concept of infinity which underlines our insignificance in the universe. So why do most religions try to imagine God/Gods as super-human(s), living up there in the sky somewhere? Absolutely ridiculous.
Did you realise that the first Christian bible was published 400 years after Christ’s death? All the multifarious stories were passed along by word of mouth. No one knew anything about Christ until he was 30 years old and 3 years later, he was crucified. All the stuff about 3 wise men, being born in a stable, a guiding star, Angels coming down and all of the other tales are man-made fairytales.
For humans, love is natural and has no boundaries or human control. We all look for love, and when it comes it is magic, irrespective of gender. Hate is taught.
