The Mets need to make room for their prospects. Even if Acuna only hits 250, he is a valuable presence based on his defense. There is no guarantee that Lindor will be able to stay on the field all year.Who is going to play SS?
To play devils advocate, I think yall are being a bit too critical of McNeil and holding way too much stock on Acuna. Yes he did start the season very poorly, but he was able to bounce back at the second half and play like his off self. And let’s not forget that at the end of 2023 he had a partial torn UCL which most likely hindered his performance this year. Acuna on the other hand only had 40 PA. It’s such a very small sample size that you really can’t justify him playing everyday. Not to mention that he was bad in Triple A where it’s hitter friendly league due to having juiced balls. I just think we need to pump the brakes a little on Acuna.
Iglesias was great for the Mets in 2024 but do we really think he’d produce anywhere near the same in 2025. NO. I get a Jose Valentin vibe with bringing Iglesias back. Valentin was great for the Mets in 2006 then not so much in 2007.
Jose loved the Mets, and we loved him. Why the F. Would the Mets sign a reject like Jarred Young.? We forgot about Zach Short and Joey Wendell. Two players that contributed nothing and never had any success like Jose. However, we have to repeat history.

McNeil's tantrums are entertaining but he'll be better off on a team that prefers a veteran 2nd baseman or outfielder.

Except Iglesias would not be starting everyday if you bring him back.
