The Mets SHOULD NOT Sign Alex Bregman
Recently, the Mets have heavily linked to Alex Bregman. In reality, Bregman is a good player, but he's not a good fit for the Mets for MANY reasons. Here's why...

The Mets CAN NOT Have This Happen ANYMORE
Acuna will be included for a pitcher, McNeil will be traded and we will eat some of contract, marte same thing
Your looking at it wrong breagman would be playing 2nd more so and 3rd and vientos 3rd and 1st and dh and Alonzo at 1b and dh They are trading some players at 2b
Mets has better options Vientos Mauricio ACUÑA Use the money in pitching and resign. Pete
I agree. Mauricio could be the next Strawberry and if they beef up the bullpen with some quality signings and acquire a star starting pitcher, then they'll be ready to compete.
How many times can you say again?
Mets using Bregman as leverage in Pete Alonso negotiation.
Andrew “again” Rhino
Fuck no” they better get Pete back and more pitching
FR. They need good bullpen help and a star starting pitcher.
LuisAngel Acuna. I'm a Met fan and I know you are. This young man is a STAR!!! - Get him in this lineup!
Mets should sign The Polar Bear 🐻❄️ it’s a no brainer! Best fit for The Dominican Bomber (Juan Soto) in the lineup! Let’s go Mets give Pete a Chance! FantasticoMets69…over 5 Decades a Mets Fan and then some!!!🎉🎉🎉
how can you say Alonso is a better fit, he barely plays, I mean he only played games, and avh 155g/yr for his whole career
162
Sources: Mets offer Pete Alonso a 3yr $90 million with an opt out after the 1st yr 🚨
I really dig Pete. But I would not sign him. He strikes out way too much.
Aldito Your high is 5 feet tall and you weight 190 pounds , what are you doing trying to be a GM ?
@@cesarcussianovich6175That would be all of us bud
@@aldito7586 strikeout no more than any other power hitter matters fact Aron judge strikeout more than
Terrible take. Bergman and Alonso in this lineup. Make it the best lineup in baseball
Bregman is a gold glove at 3rd and clutch in the playoffs
Fine with Bregman if we sign Pete too but no way in hell will I pick Bregman over Pete sorry I want 35 plus homerun bat
Ronny Mauricio
@ nope he won’t play any time soon least not MLB got to get his timing back not a lot of experience
5 years 25 million dollars
Should have taken the 158/7 😂
He still has leverage. He can choose to go elsewhere for less.
The Mets didn't play games with Alonso's major league time when they brought him up and he repaid them by hiring Scott Boris and trying to break the market.
He's going to Japan to spite the Mets and MLB. But truthfully, I expect him to sign a one year deal with the Mets or a multi year deal to finish his career as a life long Met. Just my opinion. Take care and Happy Holliday's everyone!
who the heck are you losers to trash pete??? all three of you combined won't total 1 mil in your lives!
No one is trashing him. Telling like it is in harsh reality. It’s what we do here. It’s not personal.
That 7-year deal looking real good right now, huh?
Andrew, im sure you loved Pete 2-3 years ago...All the things you said are true, but they were true 2,3, 4 years ago...Not a great fielder, can't run well, but i am sure you loved him before this bad year,,,
I can assure you this beef between him and Pete has existed for more than 3 years.
Well before this bad year Pete had produced for us Carson, so i don't know why he looks at Petes faults only, and not see his positives. I think this past year Pete wanted to have a great year to get the big money, and put to much pressure on himself, and in clutch situations he didn't come thru...His limitations aside he's still provides punch to the lineup. So i would like the Mets to sign him...Have a nice Christmas Carson...
Bottom line is that Goldy and Walker have reset the 1B market and Pete is realistically looking at something like 2/40 or 3/51 as a best offer or a 1/17 deal! Which means his career is year by year and the multi year contract will likely go away. He gambled and lost
Should be Mets FT DH
I think everyone is over exaggerating his age. If he signed a 5 year deal he would be 34 years old going into his fifth year of his contract. Walker is going to be 34 going into this year. Alonso is a better hitter than walker and will be when he’s 34 as well.
I was a Dodger fan watching in peace, genuinely happy for you after your longstanding suffering. But wishing another scandal upon Ohtani is a fucking new low. I was planning to watch your follow-up vid on Soto and maybe more, but nope, you will be an auto "do not recommend" the next I see you and your mugs recommended to me.
Five years should be the max for any contract with Pete. Imagine him at 37.
You guys are out of your minds if you think the 7/158 is still on the table from the mets. If that was still on the table he'd have signed by now. They're trying to get him for as short a term as possible, period and no one else is close to 7/158 in this market. Itd be malpractice to give him that length again after reading the market. Also weird aggressive/negative tone towards Pete here. First time i found you guys, gotta say it turned me off a bit. Not that i need glazing, but a little bit shrill and immature for my taste. Good luck to yall
The Mets better sign Pete before another team else does. Soto is going to need someone to hit behind him.
The Mets know Valdy will be available next winter, so they are not particularly eager to give Alonzo top money.
I think that's pretty obvious. For the Mets, Pete comes back at short term deal with an opt out after year 1, and then Pete will test free agency again after 2025, and the Mets go get Vlady to replace him. That's what they're aiming for.
No to Pete Alonso yes to Luis Arraez.
5-115 millions
the ray knight effect!!!!!
I LIKE PETE BUT ITS UP TO STEVE COHEN TO TELL PETE WHAT THE DEAL IS AND HE WILL PETE HAD BETTER WATCH HIS BUT BEFORE BECAUSE SOME TEAM WILL OFFER 2 YEARS ONLY FOR 60 MILLON. AND THAT IS THE BEST OFFER HE WILL BE COMING BACK TO THE METS TO ASK THEM ABOUT THE DEAL IN 2023
unless i'm missing something about their first base situation cubs to me are still a threat, as are the giants
Exactly. If the Mets think that Pete is just going to come crawling back to them, they are mistaken.
@jwvvvv yea, and I dont get why everyone is acting like Pete is 33 or 34, he just turned 30. He plays everyday, doesnt get hurt and if you look at it so called "one dimensional sluggers" (Thome, David Ortiz, Pujols, Nelson Cruz, among others) actually age pretty well and slug well into their late 30s and even early 40s - probably in part because they're one dimensional and therefore don't expend as much energy (or get hurt) as much as the more athletic or defensive players tend to. This idea Pete won't age well is completely overstated, and the guy just turned 30 which is still young...I dont get it
I expressed this recently...but Pete had to be in arrogant mode after advised by some people who really thought Boras could get him a huge contract..if Pete had a professional advisor and discussed the issue with the closest people to him, meaning his family...wife, parents etc..he would have probably humbled himself and face reality....I am truly sorry for Pete because I really love him as a met..I hope that they will come to a middle of the road solution and Pete finds himself on the Mets..His whole mindset would change for the better...come on, let's get this thing settled...just my little take on the Pete Alonso situation
If he hit 30 to 40 + HR : There will be buyers 2 or 3 yrs down the road!
Boras doesn't take the highest bid. He sets a price and waits for a team to meet it. He has pulled this off successfully time after time. Bryce Harper didn't sign until March.
He didn't do that last season. He waited too long and his clients ended up with bad short-term deals. Looks like he is going to do the same thing with Pete.
@jwvvvv Totally different story. Alonso has a consistent track record as a dominant home home run hitter. Montgomery in contrast had never had a season as a dominant pitcher prior to 2024, and some say he was only dominant in the second half. Snell was mediocre to poor between his two Cy Young seasons but expected GMs to forget that fact. Chapman was coming off a poor offensive season. Thus, none of them could sell a resume with a consistent history of success. In contrast, although Alonso's contact rate has plummeted in recent seasons, he has remains one of MLB's top home run hitters.
ok so stay with the mets for what ever, then show them what they could have gotten. then show the Mets what they retained
Why did UA-cam take so long recommending your channel. I enjoyed this episode. Thank you for calling out the Pete apologist. I appreciate Pete's contributions. What I don't understand from the apologist about rewriting history based on feelings. There is too many scenarios where these contracts don't work out.
Glad you enjoyed it!
He fucked up😢😢😢😢
Nice to seat in front of a screen like a God of other people’s talents ! The Polar Bear 🐻❄️ has proven he can hit the hell out of the baseball ⚾️ coming at a 100 miles in seconds! Pete’s been doing it for years! Now everyone is an expert on Pete Alonso! Baseball critics should stick to what they know best & not Character killing! Time to pay the Piper; The Polar Bear 🐻❄️ just wants to play with the Mets! FantasticoMets69. Go Mets ! Let Pete bring us a Championship! 😅 Happy New Year 2025!!!
💯💯💯
If there is a bunch of experts in to tell Steve cohen how to expend his money why don’t you ask him to give me some money?
I hope that contract is off the table. At this point, Id start looking elsewhere. The problem is who else is there to get?
Most definitely is. I can assure you that.
Pete's problems begin and could end with Scott Boras. It was never Pete; he's a trusting soul and a babe in the woods. This is entirely the result of predator agents like the former GM Brodie Van Wagenan (Robinson Cano fame). Boras convinced Pete to do something he never would have chosen to do, which affected his walk year performance. If he fires Boras now, he'll be signed inside of a month. Just the way I see it.
Pete Alonso rejected a 7 year, $158M extension in late 2023 and then hired Scott Boras months later. That’s all on him.
@@CarsonMW 22.5 million may seem reasonable in hindsight, with the benefit of two down seasons. But with Lindor making 34 M and Nimmo making 20+M at the time, I don't wonder that Pete turned them down. I do not dispute he should have an agent; I do not think Boras was a good choice. First base is just not an elite position. That said, I concede to your argument and hope others will see that "top" agents don't always produce the best results for the player.
$22.5M would’ve made him the 5th highest paid 1B, which is what he values at with his skillset. It’s hard to break Olson or Freeman when you were never a better all around player than them. He turned down $158M thinking that he can reset the market and quickly learned that no one is paying top dollar for a 30 year old 1B with one elite tool. It was never going to happen and he obviously believe it would by hiring Boras right after he rejected that money.
It's amazing turning down 23 million a year and you can't even hit 260
Imagine giving a shit about power hitter batting average in 2024
7-158 is not on the table anymore of Pete would take it. It’s prob down to 4-100 or maybe at best 5-120-125. At best.
Yeah I was thinking 18 for 5
Still too much.
The Mets should Offer Pete 3 Years at a 27 Million AAV for 81 Million . After that , the Mets Sign Vlad Jr. after 2025 then Trade Alonso after his Second Year of that New Contract .
U don’t wanna embarrass him. Give him 5-25 and let him save face and be happy to be here still. If u bend him over in public ur better off not signing him.
Greed is a f-up thing. The extension of $158m was a lot of money.
Old saying I tell a lot of people…”Pigs get fat, Hogs get slaughtered”
