      You could also smoke the glass-- cover the peel you lit on fire with an empty glass and let the smoke sit in there for a bit before quickly flipping it over and pouring the drink in after.

    Tea, like coffee, is the kind of the drink that you either love it or hate it. You have to be a true connoisseur to really taste the differences in the variety of tea, otherwise they do just all taste about the same. Just like coffee, if you end up with bitter tea, you can always fix it with milk and sugar. 🍵

    • @MisoHungrie
      @MisoHungrie  8 місяців тому +31

      Very true! I feel that same way about coffee - I think they all taste the same but I know I don't have a refined enough palate to understand those specific flavor notes

      @boyffb 5 місяців тому +2

      that is not true when you use decent coffee or tea. I always blow away people's minds when they are used to teabags with some very simple but decent tea that actually has a unique taste ... most people have never tasted decent tea so they think they don't like it or it all tastes the same and the first step is actually using appropriate water for the tea if you use hard water it will taste terrible even if it's a good tea.

    I’m crazy about tea! I think it also didn’t come out as strong since they didn’t write about pouring techniques.
    I don’t know much about it myself but I remember whenever my Cantonese ex poured me tea, there were a bunch of extra steps involved that really changed hot leaf water into tea. And definitely made it a whole lot stronger despite using far less tea leafs and flowers than I would’ve used. But it probably must’ve been too involved and detailed to add to a small themed cookbook.

    I think others have already mentioned rinsing the oolong (what oolong was it btw?), using jasmine pearls (seriously questioning why the book calls for sencha and dried blossoms), and the lapsang souchong (sooo smoky) which covers most of what I wanted to say.
    If you ever do want to get into tea, imo a good tie guan yin is a great example of a really distinct tea, very floral and approachable. Jade oolong is also a good starter. I personally jumped in the deep end and went straight from those to to wuyi da hong pao, longjing, silver needle, and bai mudan among others.

    Tea, except for the sugary ones such as Arizona green tea or bubble tea, has never been my favorite because it tastes like water to me in some circumstances, but these look good!

      i find the tea flavour isnt very strong in sugary tea type drinks lol. so i do agree that in a way they’re also sorta watered down

    Do you do reviews for fanmade cookbook zines? I’ve done volunteer work for cookbooks about zelda, splatoon, pokemon and general nintendo. They’re not found at bookstores, since they’re funded by fans.

    Thanks for sharing these as i was very curious since the last video where you tried the Avatar recipes. Only two little things to note about the "proper way of drinking tea" aka Gongfu Cha:
    First, when drinking quality loose leaf tea - do NOT drink the first steep! Good tea only develops is composed taste after the leaves are totally woken up. Second, if you're drinking any kind of loose leaved Green Tea (Sencha or the like) - Please never put boling water on it! For green tea specially it's important to use 80°C water.

    I'm going to re-write those recipes because a lot of them are just wrong on so many levels but I guess they wanted it to be somewhat accessible but why use Jasmine flowers with sencha and jasmine pearls ??! that's insane just use the jasmine pearls (they went to a painstaking process to get naturally the aroma of jasmine into the pearls without the bitter taste of jasmine for you to add it and sencha a notoriously finicky tea to brew??!) whoever designed these recipes did not understand tea very well... (I feel like iroh drinking the hot leaf juice then throwing it out to make major changes around here). but it was really cool what you did in this video, I would recommend getting some Oriental beauty Oolong or maybe a tie guan yin those are relatively more accessible and have stronger and bolder flavors (oriental beauty is very naturally sweet and fruity and tie guan yin roasted and tasty almost spicy like cinnamon).
    get a decent chinese red tea (black tea "hong cha") and use it with the ginger and ginseng tea you will see a very nice complexity build up.
    for matcha start by making a past with cold water then add warm water in steps maybe use a little less also oatmilk is the best milk for matcha and consider getting yin to it's yang hojicha powder(if matcha sweet drink hojicha if hojicha sweet drink matcha also red bean paste sweets are delicious with matcha and other Umami teas)
    oh easy summer hack with any green tea and honestly most teas consider cold brews (in a container with soft water in the fridge over night strain and you got cold brew) it's sweeter than warm brew and easier to drink and doesn't need the best tea or any tea brewing skills.
