I made this video because many of my patients as well as participants of my Food as Medicine workshops & programmes have this misconception that Brown sugar, simply because they are sometimes slightly less refined (sometimes more refined though) than white sugar and has some additional insignificant amounts of vitamins & minerals as compared to white sugar, that brown sugar is healthy or even a health food. But alas judging by some of the comments, many still hold these misconceptions.

Well what type of sugar do you prefer I use raw organic sugar
I personally choose, and I encourage / coach my patients and people who attend my healthy lifestyle programmes, to choose not to add any sugar to their drinks and foods as much as possible.

How about Low Glycemic Index Brown Sugar? As compared to high GI White Sugar, I would consider Low GI Brown Sugar to be a 'Health Food', a 'Healthy Choice'.

But in our country long time ago I visit a sugar factory. They make sugar from raw "sugar cane". I saw all process. They throw a lot of raw sugar cane tree directly into machine. And then they refine it. They don't use molasses. And their final sugar is almost brown color. But not like your brown color. Just little brown. I also test that sugar. That's so different test. I never found that kind of sugar in market.
And they told me when they make sugar they also got another thing. I know that things name. But they told me that thing is using to make alcohol. And that thing is so expensive. They will sell it to others country.
I’ve mixed it myself. Molasses and sugar. That’s it.

So why not discuss jaggery and the other sugars? Brown sugar is not just the same as white sugar. It is not refined like white sugar

I think you might need to rewatch the video.. he has explained and demonstrated that typical brown sugar is equivalent to white sugar + minimal amount of molasses so brown sugar is definitely not “much better” than white sugar
