I'm with Hawley on this bill. It's hard to understand how Cruz is against it.
Senator Hawley is always on the mark! Ted...there is a reason, that no matter how hard we try, I at least have a tough tough time getting behind some of the BS you throw. Senator Hawley KNOWS of what he speaks. GET SOMETHING DONE AND SHOW ME AND THE REST OF COUNTRY THAT YOU'VE EARNED YOUR KEEP SEN. CRUZ.
Special interest groups in his corner.
Censorship. There’s a fine line between protection and censorship.
Ask about the Pegasus overlay system they use to monitor social media fair amount of facts there
WHAT ELSE IS IN THE BILL?
Big Tech has gone too far and needs to be held accountable for their actions.
Not everyone can afford to take companies to court
I belive in section 230 protections.. once they're gone all of big tech will massively ratchet up censorship to protect themselves. Its litterally a no-brainer..
@@MarilynKeil
The point is to make it possible. As of now it's not an option.
@MarilynKeil The DOJ would have already if we had an Administration that wasn't owned by the Defendants.
The question is who is going to control it? The government of USA? So they can do whatever they want, controlling the information?
What kind of government leaders would even want the AI to operate yet? It’s still in its infancy. Totally agree with Josh.
My problem is, restricting adults from AI or whatever freedom they choose just because kids can access it is not freedom, it is censorship. I'm all for restricting kids access to AI if that is the intent, but they have no legal right to restrict adult's access to it. period.
@@drunkenskeptic6633 True. Parents are supposed to be responsible for EVERYTHING their MINOR children are doing.
Hawley's Bill, puts the responsibility in the hands of the government, and as usual, by doing so, excuses parental involvement in their children's activities and lives.
During the lockdowns, parents were suddenly made aware of what their children were being taught, but WHY did it take a lockdown for the parents to realize this?
Because they had left the entire education of their children, up to the state.
I get that not all parents are capable of the oversight of their kids, but Hawley's solution is to SUE...after harm is already done!
That's no solution!
A long long time ago, when computers were first introduced into homes, the government did put put PSAs for the use of computers when it came to children.
One of the things they insisted that parents do, is to have the "home computer" in a public room, like the kitchen, rec-room or livingroom.
NEVER, they insisted, place a computer in the privacy of your child's' room, not because you can't trust your kids,
but because you can't trust what is OUT THERE on the Net. Make it so a parent can walk by the child and the computer at any time a ns SEE what's on the screen.
Smart phones and laptops destroyed that, because kids all seem to have phones, and laptops that they can take anywhere, and look at anything.
It is STILL on the parents though, to KNOW what your kids are up to on line, to ask them what they are watching, to educate them about the potential dangers,
and even to restrict access if you think there is any potential danger, abuse or RED FLAGS.
What ever happened to parents being involved in the lives of their kids??
Don't take even more responsibility away from parents, by just allowing them to SUE after their kid has been sexually compromised or threatened on line!
Time for parents to step up.
Besides, Cruz is right...bring on the Ambulance Chasers...
I also don't like Hawley's premise, about the baby powder, and J&J. Johnson & Johnson were NOT "putting asbestos into baby powder".
The old baby powder was made from Talc, which is actually ground up rocks.
The kind of Talc that was used is found in the same area where asbestos is found, geologically.
They were negligent in making sure there were NO trace amounts in the powder, but to say they deliberately "put it in" the powder is a lie,
and Hawley shouldn't be using a false premise like this as a basis for his argument.
Johnson & Johnson also did not "stop putting asbestos into baby powder", they simply stopped making ANY baby powder out of Talc,
and now ALL baby powder, in fact all body powders, from J&J to Gold Bond are Cornstarch based, which is better.
So the lawsuit did accomplish something.
I just don't see the correlation between baby powder, and AI, with one exception, parents are the ones making the purchases.
They buy the computers, supply the iPhones, the laptops, they pay for the monthly contracts, they allow their kids to play the games, to watch the TV,
to go on line, and they also buy the food and the hygiene products they and they kids use.
If more parents would care enough to be responsible, and be interested in what their kids are doing on line, these laws wouldn't even be needed.
is this a seperate bill from the tik tok bill? if it's anything like the anti tik tok bill that he was promoting not too long ago i'd absolutely vote against josh as well. I agree with the guy's sentiments but if like Cruz says, the bill hasn't been debated over or have had people with the experience giving a good context so that the people who vote on it can understand what they are getting into or out of then passing it at this time would be premature.
If this is part of the anti tik tok bill then this bill needs to be buried and destroyed.
Our enemies are anti-Human
Tik tok is an attack on the US by China. It had destroyed many lives and is used to further destabilize America. Looks we found the foreign actor eh? @@nbsmith100
Senator Josh, thanks for your brave wise help to America 🇺🇸
Let's not forget that we get shadowbanned from social media sites, so that our comments that they do not like are not seen by everyone else which violates our 1st Amendment Rights on American soil. If there's EVER a class action suit against these anti-American social media sites, I will be jumping onboard with those fighting against them in court too for denying my 1st Amendment Rights to be exercised REGARDLESS of if they feel like we don't have the Right to express ourselves.

Josh Hawley is right again, and Ted Cruz has gone the way of Lindsey Graham.

Senator Josh Hawley, Congressman Chip Roy and Congressman Matt Gaetz together are a powerhouse of Congress and Committees.
We need a powerhouse like those in the White House with Trump.its go to take a powerhouse team into j for Trump to get us bc on tract Biden has done so much they have not told us all that he has done to destroy us
@JustinJ-qk2ht why are they wrong
I adore Josh! He just makes my heart feel at peace! He TAKES CARE OF BUSINESS! Hope he stays FOREVER!
Cruz is a goner on this ... Looking for the next job with Big Tech
As someone from Texas, I have disagreed with more of Roy's stances in the past few years than I have agreed with, as far as I remember. I don't believe him to be the powerhouse that you think he is. I believe red flag laws are a big strike along with the omnibus spending bill a couple of years ago.
Absolutely no company should be immune from being sued🤬🤬🤬🤬
AMEN! I'm with Hawley on this. And for the fact that he is trying to expose the contamination of everything, that is killing people, making kids sick. Contaminated water and soil that HUGE corporations have not only known about but didn't care and kept going. I'm with Hawley on this. 💯
People want to try to say that parents need to monitor their kids better and I agree on some level, however it is virtually IMPOSSIBLE to do at this point unless you NEVER ever let your kid out of your sight. I mean never let them out of your sight.
We can't opt out of internet usage at school, we have no control when it comes to the internet at school at what kids do during recess or break.
What about gun companies?
@@RLGanleyreally? Do gun companies as a corporate entity set out to infringe on Americans constitutional rights? Post one example….I’ll wait…..
They are not immune
Think about the lawyers, the big tech companies and the gun companies can afford when some little old me or little old you decides to try and sue them okay and then top that off with oh. They have immunity from being sued. Think about that for a minute. At least we should be able to try and sue them
So Proud of the Missourian Fighting the Good Fight👊🏼 Senator Hawley is definitely a force to be reckoned!!!!
I think I want to move to Missouri ... Hawley is what I believe ... Where in Missouri. Family originated from Missouri in Ray County
I’m said it before, and I’ll continue to say it, Sen. Josh Hawley for President! You are the conscience of the American people. God bless you.
You are grossly misinformed. It does not matter who or which party wins, the common people always lose. The people lose and the elite rich get richer by the day. Don't get busy in watching the political drama and miss out on the actual issues your country face. I know it does not make sense what I said but put yourself in the shoes of just an observer and you will get the bigger picture.
I love Hawley ... always looking out for children. Cruz abandoned Texas and went to Mexico during the Texas Freeze ... I will never support him again
Meh, I agree with ted. If you open that door then expect the tech companies to get sued every time a troll says/posts something sue-able(which they will just so they can then go on and sue the platform themselves) on a platform, which will just mean more censorship.
If a child is talking to an ai then you have to blame the parent. Maybe make them click a confirmation that they are 18+, which kids will click anyway(so what's the point). While I agree that Big tech is outta hand the ai isn't the issue, it's the political censorship. They should risk losing section 230 coverage if they don't actually remain a neutral platform.
I would like to hear Sen. Cruz’s reason for blocking.
As a Texan who voted for Cruz he better have a damn good reason for this, He did not beat Beto by that many votes.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamen Mr. Hawley !!!!!! 👍👍👍👍👍
I am strongly opposed to any censorship, but I'm equally strongly convinced that Big Tech must be held accountable whenever they violate laws (whether federal, state, or their own). Users of Big Tech's services must be able to sue these companies if necessary.
The parents should avoid having to go to court in the first place by monitoring their children's social media exposure. Take those damned phones away and make them read books, the classics, the Bible etc. Don't blame Big Tech, blame themselves.
Except school gives children access to the internet, how can the parents watch over their children unless they home school them not every parent has the ability to do so.

The major issue as I see it is that parents have no way to defend their children and their families from big tech at all. The only place that they can possibly defend themselves is in a courtroom, and that is currently denied. That is just wrong.

Any technology developer should be sued if it causes damages to users by the technology that its developer commercializes.
Serious No Self Responsibility??????
The users should always be responsible for abusing properly designed technology and its clear instructions for proper use.
My prior responses indeed appears in confict. I would like to offer, hopefully, a better explanation for these prior responses. If a toy is faulty in design and is sold in the market, the manufacturer should be liable for harms it causes. However, in the case where a toy is well designed for a toddler but a parent gives that toy to a baby and resulting in harm, that parent should be responsible and not the manufacturer. The same logic applies to the seller of a technology. In the case started by Senator Josh Hawley where a person committed suicide because of answer given to that person by AI, the seller of AI should be held responsible. The developers of AI should also be held responsible if there are sufficient evidence to show these developers had intended to cause harms to AI users.
Bingo ...
I hope the gentlemen will work together and debate the issues, find the pitfalls, cooperate, and find the best answers. That said, absolutely the Big Techs should be held liable for what they put out in public, ESPECIALLY regarding minors! I greatly admire and respect both these legislators because they both possess brilliant inks and care deeply about our country and its children. Working together, they can and will, I’m sure, find the best way to handle this very critical issue.

What, for once ???
I totally agree with Tom Cotton on this subject. The people in this country should be able to sue a company for what they make your kids believe is true. This country has changed in my life time. People today only know how to live from the internet and social media sites. People today would not survive without their phones. People today can't think for themselves and realize what life is truly like. True reality is wisdom and realization of being a person that learns to make decisions you didn't hear from companies nor what someone else said. People today are sheep. They can't live life without technology.
I'm soooo tired of attorneys and courts RUNNING this country.
I agree and disagree. Part of it is the parents needing to be responsible.
However big tech does target young kids as well as other people.

This sounds like a good bill. But after Josh and Ted work on this bill together, I think it will be a much better bill. Ted Cruz supports the bill , but he wants to make it a stronger bill and it sounds like Josh knows that. Lets watch this bill over the next 15 days or so.
You are absolutely right.....both of these guys are great....I don't care what anyone says they will figure it out.......
Thank you for the explanation.
Cruz wants to block progress for his donors of big tec. He can never be trusted. Pass the Bill !!!
I believe Hawley is correct in principle, but I am with Ted Cruz in this situation. If we were to move forward with Hawley’s proposal, it would turn into a legal nightmare that would bog down the tech giants. Some may say “great, the deserve it!” I think trial attorneys can be more damaging than many believe. There are a lot of bad actors out there that would love nothing more than do the equivalent of legal blackmail. This would hinder a lot of companies in their AI pursuits. There is a fight in AI and the US needs to win if we are to remain a dominant force in the future.
Big Tech needs to take a kneel on this issue
BINGO
My question is: Why wasn’t Cruz and Hawley not working together on this from the start?
A very impressive debate!!! I can see both sides....and hopefully Josh and Ted and committees get it ironed to the benefit of both sides.
Why would Ted Cruse block this?

He's most likely bought & paid for by Big Tech!
Senators are there to protect the interests of their states. It’s a different beast from the House.
