- Standard 4 76079 & Black 5 45407 The Lancashire Fusilier double-heading on the Settle and Carlisle Railway, Copy Pit and Sough, during the Winter of 2005/6. Seen at Blea Moor Tunnel, Blea Moor loops, Appleby, and Kirkby Stephen on the Christmas Dalesman trains of 21 and 29 December 2005. On 4 March 2006, whilst working the Liverpool-Manchester 175th, the pair are seen in snow on Copy Pit and just beyond Sough Tunnel/Summit.
Simply beautiful David especially the second shot at Blea Moor with conditions to dream of 👍🎥
Many thanks Steve, Blea Moor at its best, happy days.
Fabulous winter footage David which I remember very well and I'm glad to have shared the days with you
Many thanks Dad, and with you too - great memories freezing on the cattle dock at Appleby, much as we did in 1998 for 48151. No departure shot there because my camera decided enough was enough :D
Great collection from your archives David showing how 76079 earned her nickname The Pocket Rocket. Love the runs in the snow. Richard
Many thanks Richard, Ian Riley once very kindly gave me a footplate ride on 76079, that was a great experience.
Brilliant footage… ‘Rewind Reels’ is a fabulous concept and I look forward to delving into your archives
Many thanks LoKe, lots more to come from a misspent youth/middle age ;)
A superb delve into the archives David, I remember the second shot very well being on the hill to the right, great conditions and a performance to match. cheers nige👍
Many thanks Nige, yes it was a great day to be up at Blea Moor, and they were running late if I recall correctly. Cold and no wind, always great for steam.
Fabulous footage David, I agree with Steve about the second shot, wonderful.
Many thanks Austin, always an inspiring place in proper winter conditions.
A cracking line-up to whet our appetite before the 24 mainline steam season gets under way David. Take care - Chris
Many thanks Chris, these two looked and sounded so good together, happy days.
Lovely work :-) Thank you
Many thanks Andrew, much appreciated. Lovely days at the lineside.
Wow amazing ❤
Many thanks Philip, much appreciated.
Today only 45407 is still out there on the mainline
And as for 76079 although this loco still operates on the mainline but only on the North Yorkshire moors railway
Thanks Scott - indeed, 76079 was a great engine to see on the S&C and Copy Pit etc.
