Hi John. That parts warehouse is amazing & awesome. My best friend is a great motor/ engine person. He's studies the computerized cars & trucks. So. He can repair or add a new part. My best friend is like your Jeffrey. My best friend will be 61 yrs old this year. I'll be 64 this year. I never heard of that brand of wood splitter. I believe. Your wood splitter is a" antique find." Despite it's age. It should continue to run great. Anyway. It great to see you happy John. 🥰😊😉👍Anyway. Have a good Saturday the 27th. 🥰😊😉👍❤️💜🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🪵

Hi John. I just watched Back 40 and saw the Wolfe Ridge stroke limiter. Yes, the Lickity has this as you mentioned and the reason Lickity is better is because while you're splitting you may encounter a longer piece that needs a little extra stroke length. If the stroke limiter is working correctly on a Lickity, just run the ram out a bit and push down on the end of the bar with the teeth (best to use your foot) and let the ram return to "home". Let the bar spring back up and on the next return stroke you're right back where you were. Cant do that on the Wolfe Ridge set up. Not knocking Wolfe Ridge - heck i bought one. Just pointing some of the ingenuity that went into these old machines. By the way, the man who patented the Lickity Log Splitter was Clayton Bruckner. Brilliant man and worth a google look up. Looking forward to your journey with these splitters.

Good morning John,I think the log splitter works with a system that lets oil from the tank flow freely with a poppit valve then when it needs high pressure will close and the speed of the cylinder will slow down and split the piece of wood (kind of like a toilet tank with a rapid water dump)this method is very old and I've seen this on old hydraulic presses from the 1960s,

    • @hkerr-di1yg

I owned two of these 2 speed splitters for many years. The main ram tube has two chambers. During the fast speed (low power) stroke, oil is pumped into the small chamber and pressure is applied to a smaller surface. When resistance builds, the shifter will allow oil to be pumped into the larger chamber (larger surface) and the smaller which slows the ram, but increases the pressure. That's how you get two speeds out of a single stage pump. As resistance decreases, the shifter moves the hi/lo valve back to the fast speed. I did a video or two on this. Great splitters. I sold the two speed models I had, but kept the single speed.
