You and I usually love the same things for the most part and I saw how much you enjoyed the series soooo I thought it would be a safe bet but alas we differ on this one.😅 Except book 1. I did enjoy that one.
I had no idea Bird Box was a book, but that makes sense. The movie honestly sounds pretty similar to the book, but Mallory is played by Sandra Bullock who I love and because it's a movie, you're not really getting any of her intrusive thoughts thrown in your face. There's some implication that she harbors some really complicated emotions toward her child and someone else's, but it's never clear as to what those feelings are exactly, so I think that makes the adaptation more focused on just the survival and thriller elements. I don't think anything is really explained in the film either. I kind of liken it to A Quiet Place where the monsters just kind of are, you have to accept them, and you're not really gonna get any answers about why they decided to come terrorize the world.
I've seen the previews for A Quiet Place and thats exactly what I thought as well. It's just Bird Box really but with sound instead of sight being involved. Hmmm hearing that then I think I will definitely pass on the movie! I need details and knowing the full expression of feelings behind things so without that being there and understood it wouldn't play nice with me🙈
Such a bummer to hear about Assassin of Reality, I have heard almost nothing but bad things so I think I will just cherish my fondness for Vita Nostra and treat it as a standalone hahah. Also, I have been curious about the Truly Devious books for so long, but this is the first time I am really learning what they are actually about lol 🤣 Sorry to hear that the fun factor from the first book didn't hold up!
😆Well I am sold now. I shall check this out and report back! The only other story I know of with killer old ladies is the old movie "Arsenic and Old Lace" with Carey Grant. It's a comedy and spot on!
Not breezing by the dinosaurs! 😂 That definitely sounds like a busy book. I think the closest book to a killer granny premise is maybe Killers of a Certain Age by Deanna Raybourn - it follows four women who were assassins to start with in their younger days who can't just retire now that they're 60. I haven't read it yet but I'm assuming at least one of them is a granny. 😂 Not a rigamarole! 😂 Not instalust, ugh! 🙈 I have read too many romances lately where physical attraction/lust is like the only compelling reason that the couple is together. Starting to make me roll my eyes more often while reading. 😅 Emotional, reactive characters are the best kind for sure! Lol now I'm thinking about someone potentially reading this comment before watching the video and being thoroughly confused. 🤣
I saw Bird Box the movie. Was pretty overhyped in my opinion. Glad the book was good though. Might have to read it and see the differences. Nice reviews as usual!!!
I adore Maureen Johnson - her writing is hilarious to me.

YES treat our beloved Vita as a stand alone! It is so much better that way.
There's a free book on audible called An Elderly Lady Is Up To No Good, not a granny, but an old killer, very fun lol
