      Antonio Passos Same. I want an E36 or E46 & I'm working my ass off to get one, so I'm using this time to learn all I can about them. I enjoy tiny little projects like these. They seem so insignificant to the typical person, but people like you and me will understand and appreciate it. Plus it's a fun way to kill time.

    Hey Everybody at ShopLifeTV ! Love your videos ! Just wanted to tell you I did the auxillary input just like you showed, but when it came time to thread the female aux input into the ahstray, instead of drilling a hole into the bottom of the ashtray, my female was small enough to thread it through a space that opens up on the end where there's a cone shaped "butt" snuffer when you push out a little clear window that's there to allow a light to shine into the ashtray to light up the inside of the ashtray. Then I took a file and filed down the tip of the "butt" snuffer until the hole got big enough to accept the threaded end of the female aux and also letting the female in far enough that when you put the threaded end in you can attach the small threaded retaining ring that will secure the female aux. Saved me from having to drill any holes and since I don't smoke I could repurpose the "butt" snuffer cone. Hope this tip is helpful to others ! You all are great and I watch all your great videos and appreciate your dedication to helping your audience to have the courage to DIY and save thousands ! Thank You so much !

    So my GF asked me just this weekend if I could get her phone to play through her Z4 system. It's the high-zoot unit with surround, etc. This is exactly what I needed! I think I'll add a bluetooth adapter so she won't have to mess with the cords. I have a bunch of videos on my E46 M3, and am starting another set with the Z4. I used your tutorial and it worked perfectly! I have a 2000 328ci and so I bought a 2004 e46 stereo on Craigslist and installed it and bought the cable, and I wired it through the sunglasses holder instead!

  • @TVCHLORD
    @TVCHLORD 7 років тому +74

    if you have a sunglasses holder youre better off mounting it inside of that, that way you can leave the aux cable inside of it, or if you use a small mp3 player you can put it inside of there and keep it closed

    Hello, I've watched your video many times, and it has helped me so much. Thank you for that! However, for the past year, I've been struggling with a specific issue on my BMW E46 SULEV M56 engine (325i).
    The car works fine in the summer or when it's warm outside, but once the temperature drops to around 34°F, it won't start. After trying 20-30 times, it eventually starts, but all the gauges light up. Once it’s working up, everything works as if nothing happened.
    I suspect it might be related to the fuel line, but I'm not sure where to look. I've tried everything, and no mechanic has been able to identify the problem. If you have any advice or ideas, I’d greatly appreciate it-I'm desperate at this point.Thank you!

    When you connected the top of the cable to the ashtray piece, how did you make it stick to the ashtray piece? What kind of drill bit was used?

    Question? Instead of plugging the CD adapter back in should I just plug the aux into that connector? Or would I have problems using it since that port is mainly used for the CD,

    Same applies to a 2003 330XI manual + navigation? What drill bit size did you use in the front? Does the drill bit hole size in the back of the plastic matter? I want to do this for my car. Looking forward to your reply, thanks.

    First of all thanks for video! But i have a question. I got e46 2004 year model vagon with original 16:9 screen cd/navigation headunit. I bought a cable for aux, installed it and nothing. When i press mode button it still shows only cd or fm/am. Is it posible that for this year car and this kind of headunit aux option won't work? Or i should try another aux cable, in case this one is bad?
