I dont have an BMW E46 but still watched ...
haha I appreciate the support! Let me know if you have any type of video suggestions
Antonio Passos Same. I want an E36 or E46 & I'm working my ass off to get one, so I'm using this time to learn all I can about them. I enjoy tiny little projects like these. They seem so insignificant to the typical person, but people like you and me will understand and appreciate it. Plus it's a fun way to kill time.
Can you do a video on how to fix the e46 center lock? the button works inside of the car but the remote key doesn't
GamerZ.Exe mine had the same issue you have to cut open the remote key and replace the battery and it will work no doubt about it
ahahahahahahah, great human you are! like me.

Just got a E46 M3 and this channel is pure gold.
You’ve got all the good info and tips and tricks. You’ll be saving people lots of money. ❤️🤙🏽
Just did this last night, i ordered the same exact parts and it worked perfectly!
If you're wondering what drill bit you could use for the metal piece next to the cigarette lighter. Use a 1/4 inch drill bit.
Conner Elliott where did you buy the aux cable with that pin end?
@@fineasdolha7586 I got mine off amazon. Same as the one he's using
Yeour videos are great! Also very nice how you fastforward the "boring" sections no to make looong videos, but you still keep the whole assembly and disassembly process included so we (hobby mechanics) don´t get lost. Great. Thank you for your work and keep it up. Cheers from Europe! :)
That's my goal. Thank you!

@@ShopLifeTV Hey I installed and followed exact steps but my radio doesn't recognize aux. Cable is correctly 'arrow pointing upwards into harness' and Phone is fastened securely into aux cable. Let me know what im doing wrong.
Hey Everybody at ShopLifeTV ! Love your videos ! Just wanted to tell you I did the auxillary input just like you showed, but when it came time to thread the female aux input into the ahstray, instead of drilling a hole into the bottom of the ashtray, my female was small enough to thread it through a space that opens up on the end where there's a cone shaped "butt" snuffer when you push out a little clear window that's there to allow a light to shine into the ashtray to light up the inside of the ashtray. Then I took a file and filed down the tip of the "butt" snuffer until the hole got big enough to accept the threaded end of the female aux and also letting the female in far enough that when you put the threaded end in you can attach the small threaded retaining ring that will secure the female aux. Saved me from having to drill any holes and since I don't smoke I could repurpose the "butt" snuffer cone. Hope this tip is helpful to others ! You all are great and I watch all your great videos and appreciate your dedication to helping your audience to have the courage to DIY and save thousands ! Thank You so much !
Absolutely flawless. I just finished the installation and it work perfectly .Thank you
Just installed this Aux Mod (made the cables myself) and it works :) thank you for this video!
These are some of the best e46 diy videos I've seen. As good or better than the big parts sellers like BavAuto, et. al. Nice work Jason
I have just installed the Aux input. Pretty straight forward with this video. Thanks and thumbs up! I got worried though when the radio could not detect Aux input. I had the charger connected to my phone. So the piece I have is for one at a time, charger or Aux. But still wonderful. It's great to talk on phone while driving without being destructed. Thanks again.
I used your tutorial and it worked perfectly! I have a 2000 328ci and so I bought a 2004 e46 stereo on Craigslist and installed it and bought the cable, and I wired it through the sunglasses holder instead!
you literally without a doubt make the best DIY videos
very detailed and graphic i use a lot of your videos to fix my 02 320i
Just finished installing the cable in my e46, wouldn't have been able to do it without your video, great job man thank you 👍🏻
Why won't the aux option pop up for me
Just bought my first E46 and been looking too install the usb but still keep the original cd player. Thanks mate. Appreciate the help. Best video I've found so far.
From one E46 lover to another, thank you brother 👍
THANK YOU for this video!!!!! You're a lifesaver! I was thinking I was going to have to change me whole head unit just to listen to music!!!
I did it the same way and everything, and I was so happy with the results! The parts on Amazon were cheap and the tools were too! All you need is a dill if you don’t have one.
This video is right on. I just did this same install for $7.50 and about 30 minutes. Thank you for the detailed instructions.
Where did you bought the cabla that enters behind the cd player?
followed your video play by play.. still works great in 2022! thanks man
I just bought my first bmw & am scared to death to mess up this spaceship but desperately want a auxiliary cable, your video was excellent thank you so much! Aux cable here we come! Thank you for the great sound, camera angel & light
Absolutely loved it mate. respect from Sydney Australia.
Great video, I liked very short Introduction and the fast pace. I am going to subscribe to this guy!!!
So my GF asked me just this weekend if I could get her phone to play through her Z4 system. It's the high-zoot unit with surround, etc. This is exactly what I needed! I think I'll add a bluetooth adapter so she won't have to mess with the cords. I have a bunch of videos on my E46 M3, and am starting another set with the Z4. You're my inspiration, man! - jaysbigadventure
This video is really helpful and gives very detail how to do it..! Pretty Awesome! Will definitely try the AUX cable installation upcoming holiday as just exact what you said!!! Thank!!
Thank you! Awesome video. I just copied your method to a tee. Works perfectly! I added two 4 inch 90 degree cords to a TaoTronics Bluetooth receiver, and stuck it inside of the ashtray compartment. Now I have an excellent Bluetooth connection...and out of the way. 😉 👍
Great vid, works like charm! Thank you for your work and keep it up. Cheers from Budapest, Hungary! :)
Great video, I was going to pay to get someone to do this for me, but I can see I can do it myself without too much trouble. Love my e46 but it's been a pain not being able to play my ipod in it........all about to change, thanks for being so helpful.
geeze this is a great vid instead of the junk i watched before this one. job well done. i even posted a link to this video on another site. very clean and neat.
you are amasing person thank you for all the inputs saving me a lot of money. thank you for sharing.
This is a really clean and cool video, mine is a manual car but I get the basics of it. Cheers dude great tutorial.
This is an awesome video showing the process! Great job
Great video, followed this and did my 2003 e46 325xi piece of cake 💯👍🏾
Getting an e46 soon...I love their endless body modification possibilities....🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭
Excellent tutorial. I’m trying this on my z 4 next week. Thanks
YOU SAVED MY LIFE!!! GOD BLESS UR SOUL THANK YOU!
You tube just asked me to rate your video.. Excellent! Keep up the good work! 10:39pm. 6-11-2021
excelente, y explica bien rapido y sencillo, felicitaciones flako, por tus videos me ahorraste la ida al dealer o a un car audio un buen dinero y el cable lo compre en wallmart por 8 pesos! Gracias!
Awesome info and wonderful editing. Super.
Great video!! Thanks!!! I just did this install. It's as easy as you make it look.
Awesome tutorial can't wait to add an aux to my e46
Thank you.
I did this job an hour ago and it works great on my 2005 e46 325xi.
Someone said that the sound isn't big enough.
You can flush the 🎶button on left side, something show up like 'Aux Lv 0 '. You can choose 0 to 5.
5 is the highest volume up.
Installed my aux cable like in the video and everything works great, thanks. The aux though was pretty quiet. If you had the same issue the fix is very easy: press the music note symbol until you reach vol level and set it to 3,4 or 5 (5 is max)
Yeah also found that fix, but then after the aux install, my volume knob is not working :/
Alex_1210 do you hear static?
Great vid, thanks. One update is to just release the window swithches from the center console around the shifter by the one long black tas on the side of the switch. Makes removal of the console piece really easy. I have using the radio transmitter plugged into the cigarette lighter and was so tired of the static. Installed this $15 piece and cranked it up!
Thanks again for the info
Thanks so much perfectly explained I did by myself and it was so easy 👩🏻🔧
This kids awesome. ...E46 All day.
Jason, you just saved me some money. Thanks!
best video i seen for e46 dash

Super helpful. Thanks so much brother !!
You, my friend are my hero!
Top guy. Knows his stuff.
duuuude, niiiice! :D Gonna be installing AUX into mine for sure now
Excellent, I used the sunglass case for the jack, enclosed and hid the Ipod.
This was really helpful thanks!
The best mechanic very good job
good job!! now it's time for my E46 :D
Same here , saw this vid months ago and finally bought the cable, long overdue!
Great video, you're a lifesaver 👍
Thanks man I’m going to try this!
Thank you so much. I thought I had to replace my whole radio but now I know I can just do this. Thanks
BMWs don't like aftermarket
Great tutorial! Thank you.
Wow. Great video. Very helpful.
bad ass brother very good vid just got a 2003 and wanted to keep it all like new the car flawless but I wanted a aux cord and you helped me out thanks
Where can I found that cable that enters behind the cd player? 🙏
Man this was awesome!!!!
Thanks for your videos friend, if you can, make a video about how install a radio with double din please. cheers from Guatemala
Good job on explaining how it’s done without any unnecessary comments keep it up. One question what type of cable did you use from auxiliary to iPhone ?
Excellent vid, thanks 👍
So weird, I was looking at some videos on your channel and I check the description and see that you're actually in my area. Small world lol
killed it bro!
Dam bro thank you for this video i was able to install my cable
Great tutorial, thanks
i own a touring e46, im amazed even if the car was made since 1998 to 2005 or so... it has some pretty advanced tech in it... it is weird on the dongles, has some old coupling weird pins... but other than that thing has features that most cars in 2020-2021 don't have.
Sweet! Thanks bro!
thanks so much for sharing , great video
Was really good video thanks
I've got an 02' facelift, not too sure if this'll work for me but still insightful!
Just did mine :) thanks!
Great video. Thanks
Dope bro nice job
if you have a sunglasses holder youre better off mounting it inside of that, that way you can leave the aux cable inside of it, or if you use a small mp3 player you can put it inside of there and keep it closed
TVCH LORD so true and if you use an auxiliary Bluetooth adapter you have a neat place to hide that
I tried doing this today. The aux jack itself was too short for me to get through. The locking nut on the end wouldn't bite on the threads.
Same here, did that, no drilling required
TVCH LORD Did you a hole in the back of the sun glasses holder ?
TVCH LORD
How do you mean?
Do the same but still through the sunglass holder ?
Dope ! that's my new project
Same process for 06' M3?...
nice video'
Nice video.. just waiting now for your tutorial on a 2001 model :)
TheGuyWhoSk8s is it different?
Dara Bell yeah I have a 2000 and so I bought a 2004 stereo off Craigslist and I replaced it and it fit
Ammar Dalati is it just plug and play?
The best tutorial, thank you so much man, I managed to do it on a manual as well, good job and thank you very much! A much easier way could be to take out the cable from hand brake, that's how I done it, and it took me about 10 mins, so happy now😁
Great video, So you dont need to enter security code to stereo after removing power supply etc?
..Great helpfull guy!
Pity i cant mod my 328ci?? !!
Respect bro
Good video 💯🤞🏽
Thanks a lot man!
great video.. thanks
Thank you so much bro 👌
Nice work
Same applies to a 2003 330XI manual + navigation? What drill bit size did you use in the front? Does the drill bit hole size in the back of the plastic matter? I want to do this for my car. Looking forward to your reply, thanks.
Good job. In my case, the aux cable wired successfully, but hardly used it. Instead, I use blue tooth which is linked to cassette tape. It offers cd quality. Thks
Thanks! Did my car watching your video. The console and bracket are so brittle. Good idea to consider replacing those parts since you have to remove as is.
