    wow some people are so mean. Sure, give constructive criticism but there's no need to be rude.

    You all are so freaking critical, I think she did a wonderful job. You all do not have to comment every time you see something wrong. Shutup and keep it to yourself sometime. Please and thank you.,

    Okay maybe her classical technique isn't impeccable enough for you guys, feedback is great but are you really going low enough to insult her appearance? its normal to wear tights over your leotard, also, to the people saying they can see her bra: she's not wearing one.

      yeah usually people don't wear bras. I usually just wear pads from sports bras. More of a personal preference how you wear it; it doesn't matter people need to calm down >:(

    When you do grand batman to the back you must pull your leg to the back, never lean forward. And the leg should go up on 'and" and come down on 1, 2,3 etc.

    I know right! She just did what she said not to do...... And you're supposed to keep your head up as high as you can when your going back. Grand battments to the back have to resemble arabesque.

    I always use my quads to kick my leg up in grand battement, is this normal? I always hear my teachers saying to use my hamstrings but I can never seem to use it.

      I mean it's normal mistake most people make. I used to always do the same thing! It's really hard to not over engage the quads. I think what helped me was to do a lot of exercises that helped strengthen my hamstrings (think like bridges and exercises like that that really target the back of the legs) also the more I focus on rotating my legs and "wrapping" them, it helps as well.

    I've been always taught to keep my hand in front of the leg when doing grand battement to the side...My teachers are all from Vaganova academy in Moscow.. I am very surprised of what you are showing at 2:20! Your leg is in front of the arm, which is considered a huge mistake in the Russian Classical technique.

    • @papayagurl9275
      @papayagurl9275 5 років тому +2

      All of my teachers tell me to keep the leg in front of your arm in second, I guess there are just different techniques?

    • @christinalavnder3668
      @christinalavnder3668 4 роки тому +2

      Umm your leg goes in front of your arm; you could seriously harm your arm by kicking your leg behind it. That’s not even logical

    • @MissBebeElle
      @MissBebeElle 4 роки тому +4

      No, it doesnt go in front of the arm. Proper second position is arm slightly rounded forward. So if my leg is on the side in front of the arm it will be either not properly opened, or I will kick my wrist. Are you even serious? Watch girls from Vaganova academy in Russia and see yourself. Legs always go behind the arm on the side!

      Christina Lavnder Check pictures of people doing developpe from the side and check whether their arm is front or back! Of course arm is in front and the leg is behind. Same on the grand battement. Where did you study?! 25.media.tumblr.com/ciJaweS61oblnpvkrIZRnQFto1_500.jpg

      Emilly Zalayet I would say she is better, but u do have to admit her back grand battemant was HORRIBLE, and I can do better on that. (Not trying to hate, but if ur making a video on how to do something do it right)

    how do you kick higher

    • @mofogie
      @mofogie 10 років тому +1

      at the end of this clip, her kicks are a basic warmup routine that is useful for all dance and martial arts. of course you'll start lower, maybe you can only kick up to the height of your hips, that's ok, just keep both your legs straight, and don't 'cheat.' Do a kick forward, then a kick to the side, then the kick backward while dipping torso lower, like she did. Then finally do a 'crescent kick.' This is a circular kick, kicking up and inward first, then sweeping your foot while in the air to the outside, (look up crescent kick). Then do crescent kick the reverse way, starting outside, then sweeping inside. Do these at least 3X per week, if you're able, (less if you are feeling too much strain).

      Practice. Make sure you turn out and do your best to focus I. The standing leg more to help you not to grip you hips. Grande battemants come from the lower back and butt
