So, what exactly is a grand battement?
In ballet terms, it's a movement where you kick your leg up high into the air. But in more exciting terms, it's like you're giving your leg a high-five with your foot. Or maybe your leg is just trying to reach for the sky like it's a particularly enthusiastic sunflower. ☀️🌻
Step 1️⃣ Stand up straight
🔸 Begin by standing up straight with your feet together and arms by your sides.
🔸 Imagine that you're a puppet and someone is pulling a string attached to the top of your head, making you stand up taller.
Step 2️⃣ Lift-kick one leg
🔸 Lift one leg up off the ground, keeping it straight and extending it as high as you can.
🔸 It's like you're trying to show off your fancy new ballet shoes to the ceiling.
🔸 Make sure you keep your toes pointed and your hips level.
Step 3️⃣ Hold
🔸 Once your leg is fully extended, hold it there for a second.
🔸 Take a deep breath and try to stay balanced.
Step 4️⃣ Lower the leg
🔸 Finally, lower your leg back down to the ground with control.
