Good evening Jennifer , 14 Miles with over 4000 elevation gain is a great work out , always nice to have the down hill or decline to finish. Great call to make a call to let someone know you changed you plans when you changed your starting point . The say goes the early bird gets the worm , guess you could add first out gets the spider webs lol. All that up hill definitely would make me hungry too . Wow view from the top was spectacular , awesome spot to enjoy your lunch and sit and relax. Trekking poles are definitely a great tool when hiking. Hi Jim- I've been working up to doing longer hikes with higher elevation gain. I hope I can stay in shape over the winter and not have to start fresh again next spring. It's great you can do your backpacking with less miles... it's really all about getting outside and enjoying nature!! Happy November 2!!! Wow! That was an ultra long and high hike Jen. Absolutely gorgeous views from the top and love it how Rainier just stands so tall above all the others! Being in a place like that always made me just reflect and just feel part of that landscape. Apologies for not being around much - we had a month long trip to Europe and we're just sort of recovering from that and trying to catch up with everything. Have a lovely weekemd ahead

Hi Jen! This long trail with lots of elevation gain was really worth it! The views from Mount Teneriffe of the surrounding mountains were magnificent and certainly invited a little reflection up there at the summit.... You could easily do without the spider webs, but at least you weren't bothered by mosquitoes or other insects 😅 Best regards from Cologne and have a nice week!

Hi Bob! We love seeing the Pileated Woodpeckers- I'll have to check their range… maybe they stay on the west of the Cascades. One time we saw a nest with 6-7 at a campground in Eastern WA - that was amazing! Thanks!
You make these hard hikes look easy! I'm always so impressed with how far you hike and that view from the top was incredible. I don't like walking through spider webs, hate the feeling of those strings on my face.
Me too- spider webs are no fun! I've been gradually working on being able to do these longer hikes with higher elevation gain- and I'm so happy I can hike them now- the views are an amazing reward. Thanks Sarah!!
Could you not just vault over the trail head closed gates? Your new trail looked good mind and it looked a warm day too with the coat coming off but looked really nice with the sun breaking through the tree tops. Nice place for a break and those maps on the trail was pretty descriptive, showing exactly where you were. Funny it is always fluid I crave on a hike and can do a full days hiking on very little food but got to keep drinking constantly. You got some quality views over Interstate 90 and there sure were a lot of trees! Nice little scramble to get to the top, giving even better views and a prefect place to reflect of everything we do have to be thankful for. My longest hike that I can verify was just under 15 miles, about 18 months ago and yep it is tiring but it sure is a good tiring feeling. GR8 job, cheers Alan

Those miles and elevation gain sure makes for a great work out! I'd be worn out enough not to even enjoy the good of being able to head on down! lol On my, don't I hate running into a bunch of spiderwebs...even sending Otis out ahead doesn't help...gotta train him to hike up on his hind legs! lol All those great views though sure are marvelous!! Haven't used the trekking poles that I found being thrown in the garbage yet. Have yourself a great weekend...Thanksgiving for use and a mixed bag of weather heading our way.
Hi Bruce! You should try your trekking poles one day- you may like the added balance they give... as long as they don't interfere with walking Otis. :) Me too spider webs are kind of spooky and a bit annoying, lol !!
Sometimes when I’m out riding my mountain bike, in the right lighting conditions, I can see the shadows of unfortunate spiders, whose webs I rode through, being dragged through the air behind me. I’ll stop to drop off my passengers and clean their webs off the handlebars and myself. I probably look like a Halloween decoration! Anyway, thank you for another wonderful video!😊

Hi! I think it took about 8 1/2 hours, according to my GPS. I'm usually a bit faster going down- I think that included all my stops. I generally don't stop and start my GPS since sometimes I forget to re-start, lol. Thanks so much!!

Hi Bob! We love seeing the Pileated Woodpeckers- I'll have to check their range… maybe they stay on the west of the Cascades. One time we saw a nest with 6-7 at a campground in Eastern WA - that was amazing! Thanks!
You make these hard hikes look easy! I'm always so impressed with how far you hike and that view from the top was incredible. I don't like walking through spider webs, hate the feeling of those strings on my face.
Me too- spider webs are no fun! I've been gradually working on being able to do these longer hikes with higher elevation gain- and I'm so happy I can hike them now- the views are an amazing reward. Thanks Sarah!!
Could you not just vault over the trail head closed gates? Your new trail looked good mind and it looked a warm day too with the coat coming off but looked really nice with the sun breaking through the tree tops. Nice place for a break and those maps on the trail was pretty descriptive, showing exactly where you were. Funny it is always fluid I crave on a hike and can do a full days hiking on very little food but got to keep drinking constantly. You got some quality views over Interstate 90 and there sure were a lot of trees! Nice little scramble to get to the top, giving even better views and a prefect place to reflect of everything we do have to be thankful for. My longest hike that I can verify was just under 15 miles, about 18 months ago and yep it is tiring but it sure is a good tiring feeling. GR8 job, cheers Alan

Those miles and elevation gain sure makes for a great work out! I'd be worn out enough not to even enjoy the good of being able to head on down! lol On my, don't I hate running into a bunch of spiderwebs...even sending Otis out ahead doesn't help...gotta train him to hike up on his hind legs! lol All those great views though sure are marvelous!! Haven't used the trekking poles that I found being thrown in the garbage yet. Have yourself a great weekend...Thanksgiving for use and a mixed bag of weather heading our way.
Hi Bruce! You should try your trekking poles one day- you may like the added balance they give... as long as they don't interfere with walking Otis. :) Me too spider webs are kind of spooky and a bit annoying, lol !!
Sometimes when I’m out riding my mountain bike, in the right lighting conditions, I can see the shadows of unfortunate spiders, whose webs I rode through, being dragged through the air behind me. I’ll stop to drop off my passengers and clean their webs off the handlebars and myself. I probably look like a Halloween decoration! Anyway, thank you for another wonderful video!😊

Hi! I think it took about 8 1/2 hours, according to my GPS. I'm usually a bit faster going down- I think that included all my stops. I generally don't stop and start my GPS since sometimes I forget to re-start, lol. Thanks so much!!
