You are on the PCT! Fun to hike portions of these popular trails. Neat to see the trail magic and meeting through hikers on the trail. Those views of the lake with the fog were amazing. Did not sound like there were too many fish surfacing but there were fish. I'd have a line in the water for sure! LOL. Nice hike and adventure. It’s at the top of the pass, about 2,500’ maybe a bit more- might still have snow until June! It was amazing to hike a few miles on the PCT, maybe I’ll get in a few more next summer, who knows. Jennifer, definitely a Fall feeling with that weather and I am sure it won't be too long until the snow❄ appears for the skiers. There was such a difference moving away from the traffic and machinery and to hear the birds singing. Lodge Lake was picture perfect with the reflections and the mist hanging over the water👍 Really cool to meet and chat with the through hikers on their epic adventure and superb views when the mist lifted👍
Hi Gerry 😄 I’ve been wanting to hike more in this area of the mountains, and I’ll be back for more, I’m sure! It’s very impressive to know these through hikers are almost done with a 2,600 mile journey! Yes, before too long the area will be covered with snow - I guess some people hike the trail in the winter, but I think I’ll stick to the lower elevations over winter, lol! Thanks so much. Hi Brenda! Great to hear from you! I think the little red flowers were Paintbrush, I’ll have to double check though. Nope, we don’t ski, though we used to… it’s gotten so expensive and crowded that we prefer hiking instead. I learned to ski on these hills though, way back in High School, lol. We have lots of trails that are challenging to even start because you have to go on a logging road or rough dirt road. I got your message 🙂 This looked a nice place to hike and that's great about the trail goodies in the box :) The fog over the lodge looked very atmospheric and the flowers were pretty. Seems like there is some work going on there with the trees / wood .... Loved the footage of the trees you focused on and Lodge Lake was a gorgeous place to have a break , so peaceful. Wow those hikers you mentioned that were camera shy were on a very long hike and its nice that you met the German hike too. I would like to ride in the ski lift there, the views would be amazing! Beautiful place, enjoyed walking with you as always 🙂🫂👍~ Anna

A bit wet and foggy day in the beginning, but when the sun came out, nature showed itself in all its beautiful colors. Beautiful lake and tall coniferous trees whose tops are still in the mist look magical. Nice hike Jen.

What a perfect destination for a misty day. So cool that you got to visit with so many through hikers. I absolutely love the idea of doing that, but don't think I would have the time either - and once I can someday (hopefully?) retire, might not have the ability either. I've gone north from there, but haven't gone south - yet another hike to add to my list, thank you!
Hi again! Yes, you'd really enjoy this section- the trail is in great shape and the forest is amazing. I think people hike it in the snow in the winter- but I think summer/fall was perfect for me. So many trails to hike- so little time, lol! I know, I don't have the time to be a thru-hiker either... it's fun to dream about though!! :) Jen

That looked like a great hike. It was nice the trail really seemed to get quiet once you passed the ski resort area. I was happy the fog cleared, and you could see that beautiful and still lake. I liked all the mushroom photos too.
Hi Sarah- it was great when the sun came out! I really enjoyed seeing this small section of the PCT. I'd love to hike farther down next time. Love the Tail Magic cooler and we have the honesty boxes in the UK, when everyone plays the game they are great. Shame about the noise and low mist but it was a great tail to follow and that did look a great lake to fish. Shame about the camera shy hikers but man that sure is one long trail. Great views when you got back to beaver lake and I bet those through hikers were happy to see the Tail Magic cooler, cheers Alan
Good morning Alan- it sure is a nice gift for people to put out trail magic for thru hikers!! The trail is in great shape in this area- fun to finally get a couple miles hiked on the famous Pacific Crest Trail! The day turned out to be sunny and nice after all. @ Yes I’ve noticed the big adventure , quite an achievement . 😀 A very close friend spent a lot of time in Nepal traveling there often back in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s but tragically lost his life there in 2011 although ironically not in a mountain climbing way. But most definitely somewhere he really loved. 😀

I've never heard of Trail Magic before. Really beautiful hike! Even a the start when it was cloudy and foggy it looked nice😀 Are you getting any rains down there is weekend? It's been pouring down here.
Hi Age! In some places local people put out water or snacks for PCT thru-hikers and they call it 'trail magic"! Sometimes people actually sit there and hand out cookies or cook hot burgers- just depends on what they have time for. I think maybe locals do it on the east coast on the AT also- but we hear about it more near us on the PCT. We've been having lots of rain here this week too- got 1" on Thursday/Friday!! I guess its good for the trees :) Thanks!! Jen
@@JenniferLupine we had some major flooding when the rains came a couple of weeks ago. I can certainly see some of the logging roads I go on got damaged. I know some of the other places I usually roam around had landslides because of all the rain and they are now blocked. The Vancouver area had some major damage in places. It was quite a bit of rain. I was just out there today. Some rain the whole time. At last it wasn't pouring the whole time. As for the trail magic, that certainly would be nice to come upon someone cooking up burgers😁
@ Sorry to hear about all the rain damage. We had a couple small mudslides / landslides near here too that closed roads for a bit- didn’t undercut the roads- just landed on top. I sometimes listen to CBC radio from Vancouver, otherwise we don’t get much BC news even though we’re just an hour or two away from you guys. Take care and safe driving!! 😄👍

I absolutely love the idea of doing that, but don't think I would have the time either - and once I can someday (hopefully?) retire, might not have the ability either. I've gone north from there, but haven't gone south - yet another hike to add to my list, thank you!
Hi again! Yes, you'd really enjoy this section- the trail is in great shape and the forest is amazing. I think people hike it in the snow in the winter- but I think summer/fall was perfect for me. So many trails to hike- so little time, lol! I know, I don't have the time to be a thru-hiker either... it's fun to dream about though!! :) Jen

Beautiful trail with some incredible views especially with the ski lifts. The trail magic thing is cool.
O yes, local people put out drinks and snacks for the PCT thru-hikers. I'm sure the hikers really appreciate it! I loved the views once the fog lifted... these mountain peaks are wonderful. Thanks friends!! :)

That looked like a great hike. It was nice the trail really seemed to get quiet once you passed the ski resort area. I was happy the fog cleared, and you could see that beautiful and still lake. I liked all the mushroom photos too.
Hi Sarah- it was great when the sun came out! I really enjoyed seeing this small section of the PCT. I'd love to hike farther down next time. The forest was beautiful just beyond Beaver Lake. I've missed turns before too - many times - and usually because I'm lost in thought out in the wilderness. I would love to do some exploring on your beautiful west coast. great hike, Jen. Regards from Ontario. ~ Daryl

Love the Tail Magic cooler and we have the honesty boxes in the UK, when everyone plays the game they are great. Shame about the noise and low mist but it was a great tail to follow and that did look a great lake to fish. Shame about the camera shy hikers but man that sure is one long trail. Great views when you got back to beaver lake and I bet those through hikers were happy to see the Tail Magic cooler, cheers Alan
Good morning Alan- it sure is a nice gift for people to put out trail magic for thru hikers!! The trail is in great shape in this area- fun to finally get a couple miles hiked on the famous Pacific Crest Trail! The day turned out to be sunny and nice after all. @ Yes I’ve noticed the big adventure , quite an achievement . 😀 A very close friend spent a lot of time in Nepal traveling there often back in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s but tragically lost his life there in 2011 although ironically not in a mountain climbing way. But most definitely somewhere he really loved. 😀

Hi Age! In some places local people put out water or snacks for PCT thru-hikers and they call it 'trail magic"! Sometimes people actually sit there and hand out cookies or cook hot burgers- just depends on what they have time for. I think maybe locals do it on the east coast on the AT also- but we hear about it more near us on the PCT. We've been having lots of rain here this week too- got 1" on Thursday/Friday!! I guess its good for the trees :) Thanks!! Jen
@@JenniferLupine we had some major flooding when the rains came a couple of weeks ago. I can certainly see some of the logging roads I go on got damaged.
I know some of the other places I usually roam around had landslides because of all the rain and they are now blocked.
The Vancouver area had some major damage in places. It was quite a bit of rain.
I was just out there today. Some rain the whole time. At last it wasn't pouring the whole time.
As for the trail magic, that certainly would be nice to come upon someone cooking up burgers😁
@ Sorry to hear about all the rain damage. We had a couple small mudslides / landslides near here too that closed roads for a bit- didn’t undercut the roads- just landed on top. I sometimes listen to CBC radio from Vancouver, otherwise we don’t get much BC news even though we’re just an hour or two away from you guys. Take care and safe driving!! 😄👍
