How on earth do those guys carry those massive backpacks but I suppose walking into those views you just drift away. Those bolder fields looked very difficult to walk over and the further you went the more amazing the scenery looked. The pace looked steady but with the lack of air up there, I supposed it had to be and I know it was nice to have a quiet hike it, such a shame your friends were not there to share it with you. very rocky again just before you hit the EBC and man that would have been tragic to twist an ankle then but so pleased for you making it - what a trip, what an effort and what a once in a lifetime achievement - Well Done YOU! Amazing photos at the end lifetime memories made and sure am envious of you, that looked insane, as did the ride back! Cheers Alan
Hi Alan - thanks for trekking along with me! It sure was an amazing morning when we finally set out for the last trek up to Base Camp! It was perfect! Great sunshine and blue skies, and not many other people at all. O yes, it was quite rocky the last stretch, but with care it was not too difficult. I loved being there where the great Everest Expeditions set up their camp. We had time to sit and relax and take in the surroundings... amazing mountains in every direction. The helicopter ride back down to Lukla was fun- I would have enjoyed the trek back, but this was super fun. Thank you, thank you!! :) Jen
Spectacular views and incredible experience at Everest Appreciate taking this journey through you Interesting time of year and discussion on the group size Amazing ride in the helicopters Interesting contrast with the donkeys Congrats! Cheers 👍
Hi Mike- sure was amazing to see first hand where the Everest Expeditions set up their Camp 1- wouldn't that be exciting to see all those tents and see their preparations! I've seen it in documentaries and read about it. I could see myself helping out as a support person at Base Camp, but not trying to ascend!! You'd love the helicopter, that was super fun!! Cheers, big thanks!! Jen
Hi Jennifer; I have enjoyed watching all your videos of your trip to India and your trek to Everest base camp. What an accomplishment! Congratulations and thank you for sharing-woohoo!!🎊🎈🎉❣️
HI, thank you! We had a big adventure for sure. What a thrill to set a goal and make it!! Thanks so much for watching and for your great support! I'm happy to share the adventure- what a journey!! Hope your 2025 is off to a great start- all the best, Jennifer :)
Pretty awesome to see your adventure. It is amazing that there will be nothing on the landscape then you turn the corner and there is a town. Modern looking building too. I noticed your guides are holding a flag. Not sure the significance of the flag. You had some pretty awesome scenery and photo ops along the way. Spectacular views all around to take in. Good that you take it slow in that terrain and elevation. Congrats on making base camp. I'm surprised there were not more people and camps there. Also, it did not seem to be too snowy either. Maybe, this is the time of year to hike the summit. Well done on your adventure. That must have been an amazing experience for you. Talking to the cows. LOL. Awesome helicopter ride back! So amazing. Well done. Have a great day.
Hi Packs- wasn't that funny at the end, I didn't record saying anything that last morning, just had a little chat with the cows! lol I laughed at myself when I got home and realized that. It was a chilly minus 3* C / 27* F or so. Yep it was really amazing to make it all the way to Base Camp- full sunshine and not busy which was amazing. We didn't have to wait in line to get up on the Rock and we could sit quietly and enjoy the moment. I understand there are some Expeditions in Sept/Oct but the main Expedition season is in Apr/May and I expect it is very busy with tents and Climbers at that time. [plus the whole trekking route is more busy] Most trekkers stay at a village a bit lower than Gorak Shep, and on their last day trek past Gorak Shep to Base Camp, meaning they arrive after lunch, then go back to stay at Gorak Shep. Since we changed our plan, we started out from Gorak Shep first thing in the morning and got to Base Camp well ahead of the main group of trekkers. Each day we went slow enough in gaining elevation that I was able to adapt pretty well and didn't need to take any medication, woohoo! O yes, the red flag is the Nepali Flag!! That was so fun to have with us all through the trek! Hari is very proud to be Nepali and loves the Himalayas and loves showing them to his clients. As far as I could tell he was the only guide carrying the flag- quite a few people asked to borrow it for a photo along the way. We were fortunate to have amazing sunshine most every morning- and fantastic views of the mountains. Big thanks!! Happy Saturday- Jen :)
@@JenniferLupine Awesome! Sounds like everything worked out just right to make a special trip, without the crowds too. Beautiful scenery with the weather too. Just awesome!
Part of my Nepali group set out for Everest Base Camp and out of 8 of them, only two made it. The rest had to turn back before reaching the camp. I know how demanding it is and I congratulate you from the bottom of my heart. But it is rewarding adventure that allows you to experience breathtaking Himalayan landscapes and the thrill of being close to the world's tallest mountain 🏔️ 👍❤️
Hi and many thanks Vedrana! I’m sorry to hear that quite a few of your group had to turn back on the EBC attempt - the high elevation is nothing to take lightly. I have seen some videos where people don’t make it, but I wasn’t sure how often that might happen. All we can do is train as much as possible beforehand and do our best. I think on our trip our slow increase in elevation helped me have enough time to acclimate. It was a thrill to arrive at the staging ground where all the famous summit attempts set up. I was thankful to be there on a sunny, clear morning with not many people around at all. We could really soak in the majesty of the mountains! 🏔️🏔️🏔️🏔️ Thanks for being a good friend and for your support and encouragement! 😁⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Jen
HI, thank you! That's so nice to hear! I appreciate you taking the time to watch- so nice to know you find the videos relaxing and inspiring!! What an adventure!! Hope you're having a great week! :) Jennifer
Amazing mountains and glacier. Stunning nature. Looks really special overthere. Thanks for this awesome hike. Fantastic video. Wishing you a blessed weekend. Like nr 44 👍👌🙏🍀🛸💫🎉💚🐬
Hi and many thanks my friends! It sure was exciting to finally reach EBC- and super fun to get a couple helicopter rides back down to Lukla!! All the best from Washington!!
Awesome!! Thanks Beach Bum, so great to hear from you!! It was an epic adventure for me- one that I'll always treasure. Great to have you join me!! Hope you're having a great day with sunshine!! - Jennifer
@@JenniferLupine Hi Jennifer…. It’s been 2 yrs since I broke my ankle in 3 places and sadly ending any long hikes. I have a beautiful van I built and will be heading to Arizona in a couple of weeks. Late spring I’ll be in your neighborhood on my way to Alaska. I enjoy all your videos and taking those long hikes with you. LOL Jennifer have a great new year!!
@ I’m so sorry to hear about your ankle injury- yikes. I’m sure you’ll have lots of good times on your travels in your van! Warm Arizona and exciting wildlife in Alaska. Someday we hope to drive to Alaska too- what a great trip, have fun!!
Brilliant Jennifer so well done for that trek isn’t easy 🙌🙌🏔️ I did like how you kept the format and style of this series of film exactly as you would back home in the cascades 🏔️ No sensationalism just you (it’s easy for us viewing to get how this amazing mountain landscape impacts you ) Very inspiring Jennifer 👍🤠🏔️ Very best wishes to Steven and yourself 🙏🏼 Simon
Hi Simon- thanks so much for your support! The journey was inspiring to me, and I'm happy that comes through during the videos. The last day trekking up to Base Camp was amazing, as you know, reaching a goal that you've worked towards is so rewarding!! I loved seeing these mountains up close and being in such an iconic trekking and mountaineering location. Thank you, thank you, and all the best to you and your family as well! Steven says hi!! - Jen

Not much women can say they have reach EBC and you did it ! What a adventure you have did Jen , I am really impressed and i congratulate you 👏👍 Thanks for filming this amazing trip and sharing it with us . If I understand at the end when we see the sign of EBC and you stand on the big rock waving Everest mountain is the one in the back of you ? What a great feeling of accomplishment it must be standing there . Wow! Beautiful video ! 🥰 Have a great weekend Jen Hélène et Serge 👩❤️👨⚜️🌈
@@SergeCousineau Hi and many thanks Serge and Hélène! Actually you’re so close to the base of Everest that you can’t see it! Kind of crazy!! The other mountains are blocking the view. We trekked to elevation 5,364 M - 17,598 feet / while the top of Everest is 8,850 M - 29,035 feet!! It’s hard to describe, but there are so many giants there, they each cover up views of the others. I would guess that the Expeditions have to pass through the Khumbu Icefall and climb at least another 5,000 feet up before they might start seeing Everest. The fact that you can’t see Everest from the Base Camp is one reason people love to go to the Everest View Hotel near Namche Bazaar, to acclimate but also to get a great view, just of the top of Everest!! It was fun to film and edit this amazing adventure- 👌😄 Thanks!! Jen
You made it to Everest Base Camp! What a great end to a great trek! Woohoo! ❤ We're so glad you were able to do this. Memories that will last forever. You had an awesome guide and porter and a fun helicopter ride back to Lukla. Thanks for taking us with you! Amazing! 🥰
This was a super exciting journey, thanks for joining me! It was so nice to arrive at Base Camp when it wasn't busy and the weather was perfectly sunny. Hari and Maitaram (and Sunil) were all so helpful and great supports on the trek. It sure was fun to zoom down by helicopter- great views, quite a thrill. I hope you can do the trek too one day, if you so desire!! Thanks and have a great weekend! - Jen
Woohoo! Thanks Benda! Patience and persistence, and one step at a time, lol! It was pretty exciting to reach the goal. O yes, I would have enjoyed the hike back, but under the circumstances, it sure was fun to get a helicopter ride down and get an aerial view. 😉😄 Thanks for your friendship, hope you have a wonderful week! Jen 🙌🙌💕🌸💕🌺
Woohoo! Wasn’t that great to reach Base Camp with almost no one else around! Seemed perfect! Seeing the dzos up that high was fun- at last one was carrying his own hay! I have no idea how long they stay, they probably deliver their load and turn right around. 😆😄 Sure was an adventure- thanks so much for following along and for your great support! 😁👍🏔️🏔️🏔️
Woohoo! Thanks Dennis! The trek was an amazing adventure with lots of great natural views along the way, and inspiring to see the local people and their way of life in the mountains. It was such a thrill to stand on the rock at Base Camp and think of all the Expeditions that have camped there over the years. Close to the top of the world!! Thanks so much for joining me! :) Jennifer
Hi Jennifer! Definitley a trip of a lifetime. Fabulous footage of your amazing trek to that famous mountain location. A great wrap of your journey. Well done, my friend 👍. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your weekend 😀.
Woohoo! Thank you! We had such great weather all along the way and it held through the last day as we trekked up to Base Camp - it was quite amazing! Aren’t these mountains inspiring! I can see why so many people are drawn to explore here! Many thanks - have a great day! - Jen 😄🏔️💚🏔️💚
Jennifer, stunning walking up along the Khumbu Glacier❄❄ with all those towering peaks surrounding you. Fantastic to get your picture on that rock at EBC👍 Well done on undertaking and completing the adventure of a life time and reaching EBC👍👍 You had amazing weather throughout and it definitely didn't look that busy at that time of year, especially for the last days of your trek. My sense is that having a good guide makes all the difference on these big adventures. That is a busy air taxi 🚁 and it was good to see you all back together again at the end😊
Big thanks Gerry! Before I left home I wasn't sure that I would make it all the way to EBC, though I knew I would give it my best. O yes, Hari as our guide made all the difference. He's very experienced, supportive and friendly. I thought I was going on by myself, but I really wasn't. It was so great to have both Hari and Maitaram with me on the last leg of the trek. We took plenty of time up at Base Camp to look around and reflect on the incredible beauty. They took lots of great photos in just the right places and made the trip fun. I would have enjoyed the trek by foot back to Lukla, but it was also super fun to zip down by helicopter- the views were fantastic! Thanks so much for your friendship!! :) Jen

This is brilliant. What an exciting trip! I feel as if I am there with you Jennifer. I'm a hill walker too - but my maximum altitude only a few hundred metres above 2000m 🙂Pack sheep-goats seems like an inspired idea! At almost 73 I still enjoy crunching through ice! Tourism seems to be the lifeblood of the area. Best wishes from sunny Scotland. Btw, I watched a few adverts and clicked on one !;-) We should all do a bit more of that I think. 🙂

The helicopters flying around didn’t make sense until the end of the video lol. I kept wondering what they were doing lol. Wow this was a terrific adventure Jennifer. Well done!
Yep, they fly goods up the river valleys to the high elevations- and transport people back down. (some are planned and others are sick) I'm pretty sure people don't get to fly up. I would have hiked back out, but our friends wanted to helicopter out, so that was the plan, and it all worked out for the best anyway since things went a bit sideways earlier. I think they mostly fly the helicopters in the mornings when there is good clear weather- when the clouds roll in they stop. It sure was an exciting journey!! Can you imagine trying to summit Everest? O my, no way for me! Thanks for all your support and friendship!! - Jennifer
Hi Jen! A great ending to your Himalayan adventure, breathtaking in every way 🤩 The weather couldn't have been better and your companions must have been great motivators... Hope you have a great weather and nature weekend! Jen :)
That's cold. 🥶 The weather was very nice, otherwise, for views and pretty pictures. Awesome glacier! Cute dzo! 😃 I think I'm like you; I'd like to see Everest and maybe go to base camp 1, but I don't have the desire to actually climb it. Some things should stay wild. I read a book on Everest once that made me feel that way about ever climbing it. And honestly, your videos on it are thrill enough for me. You've shown us so much with this whole series! Oh, awesome pictures! Woohoo! 🎉😍 Fantastic video! 😃💚👊
Woohoo! Thanks IceBear! I’m super happy you enjoyed the videos! I totally agree- I’m not interested in trying to summit Everest, or even Mount Rainier and the other mountains in Washington. I think of myself hiking on dirt, not glaciers, lol. 😆 As I was transitioning back home on the plane and getting back on the pacific time zone, I read a couple books on Expeditions to Everest- it was so cool to read about them being in the places I’d just been and what their challenges were in attempting to reach the summit. That confirmed it for me, no way! For me it turned out to be a great experience, I loved the places and the Nepali people, and now I carry those memories with me! You’re a great friend, thank you! 😁👊😎

Wow, so many amazing views. The big flock of birds, the mountains, the horses and dzos. It must be awesome getting to look back on the trek you've completed and getting to relive it through creating the videos. A helicopter would be a fun way of getting back, but a bit disappointing in a way to travel so fast where it took days to hike through. I am curious though, did you take any medication to help with the altitude? It was great to see your journey!
Hi Donna! This sure was a great journey with new views each day! I would have loved to trek back down and catch the views from the other direction, but my friends wanted to helicopter, so we pre-planned it that way, and with the changes it worked out for the best. It was fun to be in the helicopter and see the route from above- but you miss the best part of seeing the Nepali people and animals along the trail. No, I didn’t take any medication during the trip. We gained elevation slow enough that I felt well adapted, plus we drank lots of water. I went off caffeine before the trip, no soda or tea with caffeine, not even any ice tea..lol. Then we also ate vegetarian and no fried foods after day 1 when I had some French fries, yum. All in all, managing food and how your stomach feels, along with sleeping and drinking enough liquid worked for me. I’m not one to take medication at home anyway, 😉👌. Thanks, always great to hear from you - thanks for taking the time to follow along with me! Happy Trails in 2025! - Jen 😄🏔️🏔️🏔️
Such an amazing accomplishment and so cool to be "taken along" on this epic adventure! Thanks so much for taking the time and energy to document this trek. What incredible landscape and nice people. The mountains were breathtaking, and it just boggles my mind when I look up the elevations you were at and consider Mt Rainier is 14,410 ft. Then I really get an idea of the altitude you were having to deal with. I loved seeing the djos and yaks. 🥰 Do all the guides carry their country's flag? Or was it just Hari that did that?
Hi T! Thanks! Yep, can you believe we were 3,000'+ higher than Mount Rainier!! Yikes and super cool!! I tried not to think about it on the way there, didn't want to get intimidated!! lol. I didn't see any other guides carrying a National flag... Hari loves these mountains and is very proud to be a guide and show his clients this beautiful region. It was great to have it as a reminder as we trekked- the shape of the flag symbolizes the Himalayas!! Me too, seeing all the animals and way of life was the best!! Thanks so much for joining me on the journey- I'll have to admit I miss it already :) - Jen :)

When we got to EBC we were almost the only ones there, it was magical. Many thanks - Jennifer :)
@@JenniferLupine Hello Jennifer, back then we did the so-called ‘big Nepal trek’ and started in Tumblingtar and climbed via the Arunvalley up to Mera Peak at 6461m, where I was then able to fulfil my long-cherished wish to see Mt Everest and other 8000m peaks in the flesh. Peaks like Cho Oyu, Lhotse, Makalu, Kanchenjunga and of course Mount Everest! From there we travelled over several passes to Luka and then back to Kathmandu. We travelled for a total of 20 days. It was a very emotional trekking trip for me as I have wanted to see these countries and of course Everest ever since I learnt about Nepal and Tibet at school. Andy

At the Tea Houses Hari was like our waiter/ host and he took our food orders and brought our food to us too. The people who ran the Tea Houses mostly spoke some English too. As for the helicopters, they can only fly in certain weather, I think it’s misty clear and not too windy in the mornings. They aren’t on a schedule that I could tell, they’re more in a pattern and have to be flexible with all the factors. They were bringing up lots of water and supplies, unloading super fast, then 2 people and their bags were loaded quickly and off they went. Then in a few minutes the next chopper arrives. Interesting contrast with the donkeys
Congrats!
So proud of you! I wish one day I can be there. Happy new year, Jennifer!😃😃😃😃
I hope you can be there one day too! It’s worth all the effort to get there! ☀️☀️🏔️🏔️ You too, Happy 2025! 😄🙌🙌
I love the way you make your video. So relaxing and inspiring.
HI, thank you! That's so nice to hear! I appreciate you taking the time to watch- so nice to know you find the videos relaxing and inspiring!! What an adventure!! Hope you're having a great week! :) Jennifer

Hélène et Serge 👩❤️👨⚜️🌈
Jen
@ Okkk ! I understand a more now ! Amazing anyway! Thanks for the info 😉👍

Woohoo! Wasn’t that great to reach Base Camp with almost no one else around! Seemed perfect! Seeing the dzos up that high was fun- at last one was carrying his own hay!

Yay! We'll be watching this tonight! ❤
Awesome, see you then!!
Great adventure
Thank you sister - sending a big hello! Thanks for watching! God bless 🙏🙏
Amazing
Hi, thank you! 👌😄🇳🇵🇳🇵🇳🇵
I watched the entire series. Beautiful scenery.
Awesome, thanks! We had such great weather - it was a great experience! Every day was new and beautiful! I’m sure you’re going to have an amazing time on your AT journey- likewise with new experiences everyday!! Btw, did you get your passport renewed? Who knows where you’ll go next? 😁👍👍
Jen
. I did it takes 8-12 weeks to process according to the website. This year my schedule will be booked doing the AT.
@ That’s kind of long to get your passport, but it will be ready if you want to travel in the future!! 👌👍 When do you get back out on trail? Very exiting, and challenging of course, esp with the weather right now.
@JenniferLupine I woll be back on trail after this week. The weather delayed my trip to cali that I was supposed to do this week and postponed it for next week. So 7days out and back then I return to the AT.
@ All the best- enjoy the journey!!
Hello Jennifer, Namaste
impressive pictures from Nepal. It reminds me of my big Nepal trek in 2011.
Top and interestingly done.
Andy
Hi Andy! Did you trek to EBC or do one of the other routes? Isn't it an amazing journey! We had the best weather I could have asked for- clear sunny skies in the morning, clouds in the afternoon, no rain or snow and not too much wind. When we got to EBC we were almost the only ones there, it was magical. Many thanks - Jennifer :)
Namaste!!
@@JenniferLupine Hello Jennifer,
back then we did the so-called ‘big Nepal trek’ and started in Tumblingtar and climbed via the Arunvalley up to Mera Peak at 6461m, where I was then able to fulfil my long-cherished wish to see Mt Everest and other 8000m peaks in the flesh.
Andy
At 3:54 are those birds being fed by people?
The snowcapped mountains are beautiful!
It's really too bad about all the helicopters.
Looks looks like you had an awesome trip!
@@agesadventures Hi Age- how are you? No, I don’t think the birds were being fed- they were in a very remote area- fun to see them as we hadn’t seen many the earlier days. We sure did have an amazing trip! Thanks!! 👌🏔️🏔️🏔️🏔️
This is a well made video of your adventure! It was very interesting to watch. Many greetings 😀
Glad you enjoyed it! Many thanks! Each day of the trek showed us new landscapes- so fun to reach the spot where so many Everest Expeditions have camped!! 👌🏔️🏔️🏔️
👏 👏
Awesome!! Thank you! I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos too!! - Jennifer :)
Hiya Jennifer
I am curious about language you communicate with your guide and porter.
wow, rocks and snow! winds are picking up quite here
The scenery is completely different than you usually hike
no vegetation? fewer wildlife?
As you mentioned, you were pacing due to thin air..
Are natives well knowledgeable and informative?
BTW, the transportation by helicopter take certain number of hikers a day?
The photos of you with snow mountains ridges will be your reward for this trip. wow 24:01
The water under iced lake/pond seeme beautiful 23:14
Thank you so much for sharing your steps to Everest.
I am catching up due to evacuation and in-law business..
Allow me some time
@@ms-kayak7seas-q9n Good morning!! Sure, take all the time you need, it’s great to chat with you when you’re not busy! Hari is Nepali and he speaks English pretty well, our porters were you get snd didn’t speak much English, Hari usually spoke with them. I think there were 5-6 different colors of paint, so maybe several companies. There were even women pilots!! I liked that! Awesome trip!! Thanks for your enthusiasm!! I loved it!! 🙌🙌💚💚💚🏔️🏔️🏔️🇳🇵🇳🇵🇳🇵❤️❤️❤️- Jen
Do you have a playlist of your trip just to Nepal i'd like to save it.
I made one but didn't make it public yet- I'll go do that, thanks Mekay!!
Amazing
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video!! Thanks!
