Potatoes can be planted pretty late in the season will go dormant then continue in the spring you will get giant bumper crops from that -Yes even in zones 7 and 8
Beans: Pole and Bush Summer Squashs: zucchini etc Cuke: Potatos: Corn: shorter maturing varieties: 75 or 90 day maturity Tomato: determinate tomatos Melon: Icebox varieties. Greens: collard, Kale, Malabar spinach, newzealand spinach. Okra: zone 8 Directly out to plant Zone 7: Think about Fall crops: growing broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, kohlrabi-broccoli based plants. Start them indoors.
I put cool season stuff in mostly shaded areas and I grow peas mid summer spinach all that neighbors told me I was wasting my time cuz the heat but I showed them 😂
Nice one. Keep these coming! I've sowed almost everything I want growing in fall but beginning a succession sowing next week :) Big fan of these 'to the point' monthly sowings 👍
Cool site!!!! Glad I found you.newbie here. I love being told what exactly to do. And when. I’ve been so confused. Thank you so much!!!!!! I’m so excited!!!!!😊😊😊😊 keep sending me a to do list lol. Zone 8 here.
I very respectfully disagree on the late-season potato advice. Late season potatoes go in mid/late-July and harvest after first frost (usually in late Oct, mid/late Nov). 7a here. YMMV of course. Either way, good luck!
pole and bush beans, squash, zucchini, pattypan, cucumbers, potatoes, corn, tomatoes, esp determinate, melons, canteloupe, collards, kale swiss chard, new zealand and malabar spinach, okra.
we had some odd weather so I wasn't able to get a lot of things out until this month I haven gotten any bean okra no warm season stuff that you sow from seed outside this is the first week that the temps are not falling in the 30 and 40s my tomatoes look purple from being in the pots and outside in the cold so by the end of this wk I should have everything started either from seed or transplants that ive had indoors taking outside its been a unusual year im just wondering if im gonna have a good harvest and its gonna set me back on my fall crops from being set out on time or should I just take the loss and pull them up to plant out my fall stuff guess I just wanted to share and find out if anyone else is having a set back on their gardens as well
You should be fine with those as long as you have enough time before your first frost. So check the maturity dates, and if you have at least that long before frost then you should be good to go!
Hello. We are starting a garden. Here in Carrollton Ga. We are in zone 7b. I would like to know if we can grow apple, orange and lemon tree. Thank you for your help.
@@lesliefowler5337 check with your local extension agency to be sure, but I would imagine apple, pear, peach, nectarines, cherry, plum. But follow up with a local expert to know for sure.
Leslie Fowler I’m in 7b too (Long Island, ny). We had a dwarf lemon tree for about 5 years. When it got chilly out, we moved it indoors under grow lights. It’s an option if you really want citrus. We do have a Montgomery cherry and red haven peach that have been very productive outside. 😊
I'm in Zone 8 and I put mine out after my last frost date but with the up & down temps in 2021 my determinate & Indeterminate tomatoes seems to have stunted so I planted more seeds a few weeks ago.
When it comes to what to plant each month there really isn't much difference between 8a and 8b, that's why I didn't break it down, you will be fine planting anything on this list in June.
Yep, as long as you have around 75 days until your first frost you should be fine. Once you move into July I would choose bush beans instead of pole beans because they mature quicker.
@@StoneyAcresGardening What about squash bugs? How do I kill them and ants? This was the first year ever that I have a garden. My mother was a pro but she has passed on.

Now, can you please change the weather on zone 8 so I can fallow your instruction? The weather has been terrible for gardening this year...
I love these videos, sometimes it is hard to figure out what to plant for your zone especially if new.
Glad you like them!

Could you please make some distinctions between zones seven and eight? Are there any differences between them regarding what can be planted in June?
For June there really isn't much difference. the differences will start to show up when we get closer to fall.
Can you advise now that the PNW reaches high temps? What are some tips to keep your garden alive as the planet's temperature rises?
Mulch and drip irrigation!

Hi! What about pumpkins in zone 7? Thank you! Happy I found your channel!
Welcome!
Plant in April ! Maybe May too if I’m not mistaken?
When should I plant garlic and onions for zone 7?
garlic is planted one month before first frost. like winter wheat.
I subscribed!
Thanks!
What about southern peas? Purple Hull peas, Cream, Black-eyed, etc? And Ground cherries? Too late to direct sow these?
You should be fine with those as long as you have enough time before your first frost. So check the maturity dates, and if you have at least that long before frost then you should be good to go!
I used to work on a pea shelling farm and the farmers were still planting at this time for a good harvest in August and September. You should be okay.
I'm so late getting things in, this rain these past few months

Apple yes, no on the orange and lemon, they need warmer weather than what you have.
Thank you.
What kind of fruit tree can we grow here?

If i already have indeterminate tomatoes in my garden as seedlings/starts will i still be able to grow them for June?
Yes I like to get my tomatoes in right after my last frost date.
I'm in Zone 8 and I put mine out after my last frost date but with the up & down temps in 2021 my determinate & Indeterminate tomatoes seems to have stunted so I planted more seeds a few weeks ago.
When should zone 8 do their fall.seed.starts..
Next month. I will talk about it when I do the July video.
What can l use to get rid of slug or other insects and pests? Thanks
For slugs I use a combination of hand picking, beer traps, and an organic bait called sluggo.

What is the best time to plant carrates
Early spring or late summer for a fall harvest. Carrots will do okay in the summer but like the cooler weather better.
You have zone 7& 8 but I'm 8b nothing about this in Oregon
When it comes to what to plant each month there really isn't much difference between 8a and 8b, that's why I didn't break it down, you will be fine planting anything on this list in June.
ALSO... it will be too hot here for any tomatoes to set here in austin...according to radio
Yep flowers don't set well over 85 degrees, so if you are planting now they well start setting fruit when things cool down.
Can l still plant beans in June or July in zone 7?
Yep, as long as you have around 75 days until your first frost you should be fine. Once you move into July I would choose bush beans instead of pole beans because they mature quicker.
@@StoneyAcresGardening thanks again
Also egg plants
Thanks
Zone 8 what about pumpkins
how about carrots in zone 7b
Pretty warm in the summer time for carrots. They prefer cooler temps. I always plant them in the fall, about 8 weeks before my last frost.
I have rabbits and birds eating Everything!!! What do I do???
Netting will keep the birds out, a 2-3 foot fence that also has wire in the ground in front of it for the rabbits.
