Lived in zone 5 till it got changed due to changing climate. Anyway, one year I didn't get my garden completed until the 4th of July. I still got a boat load of everything. Bush beans, cukes, peppers, squash, tomatoes, etc.
You have no idea how much you have encouraged me. This is what is happening to me this year, in Zone 7b. My early seedlings got frost bite (late May) and director sign seeds got washed away in heavy rains in May/June. I was do discouraged, ready to quit, but I decided to give it another try.
You gave me hope.
How did it go with late planting?
I live in Central Indiana about 50 miles north of Indianapolis. Your videos have helped me so much. I realize now I can go over a little or under a little according to my planting zone 5.
Tomatos
Peppers
Summer squashes
Green beans
Melons asap, smaller varieties
Potatos
Cucumbers
Herbs
Onions sets asap
Summer crisp lettuce, Nevada variety
Carrots, lots of TLC
Parsnips, lots of TLC
Beets, lots of TLC
Turnips, lots of TLC
Spinach
Kale
Swiss chard
Collards
Fall crops, prepare transplants now in mid June, they do really well transplanting up to the middle of August.
Try cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, kohlrabi.... again lots of TLC
Thank you for the list. Im looking forward to learning how to grow beets. I might wait till next year since Im a newbee growing in hotter weather. Zone 7 , and a very small yard. Bet by next year I can fill it with good though...lol

❤ quite welcome.
Just for fun, sometimes among the reduced vegetables in grcery stores you find small crummy looking red beets. Plant them, and water real well. You could even soak them in cold water for a couple of hours first. They do grow big, while growing beautiful leafes, which are edible. Being a perennial, it goes to seed. Let it. In the fall you will have seeds for next season, and the roots are still good to eat too.

I would not wait until next year to grow some edibles. Gardening is a learning process, get started. It also is a real good place to de-stress.
* I would plant me some bush beans, like dry black turtle beans, right from the grocery store. Black turtle beans, is just another name for black beans. Watch a video on how to do this. Pinto beans too are bush beans. In the fall when plants dry, so do some bean pods. Your dry seeds for next season
* Keep plants picked, and they will keep producing. If you stop harvesting, they also stop growing more for you.
* Green onions, plant the root portions. These grow right back, when you cut the tops of.
* experiment with diverse things, stuff right from the grocery stores. Just look each up on UA-cam, and learn how to care for each. Look up how to regrow vegetables in order to obtain viable seeds. Yes it is not only possible, it's not all that hard. Just keep in mind to keep plants gently moist always, and shaded if anything is just trying to grow some roots. Have fun gardening, and remember that in a difficult situation, this skill can be lifesaving.

I would not wait until next year to grow some edibles. Gardening is a learning process and I would get started immediately.
* Try growing some dry beans from the grocery stores. Black beans, also known as black turtle beans, and pinto beans are bush beans. Easy enough.
* when buying green onions, plant the root portions. The greens grow right back, every time you take the tops of. Real easy to grow.
* How to regrow vegetables to obtain viable seeds, is the name of a video I much recommend you see.
* As well as seed saving, and kinds of how grow this and that videos. There are plenty, take notes as you learn.
Master gardeners keep journals and do refer to them.
* Keep learning all you can, that's something nobody can ever take from you, no matter where life might take you. You can also share the skill and knowledge you gain. Talk to other gardeners and watch the howto videos. Get howto books cheap at thrift stores. Study them.
@@heidimisfeldt5685 Great idea. Its what Ive been doing so far. I get allot from Rare Seeds but Walmart vegetable isle is a great place to grab things you want.
Thanks. I just planted some Minnesota midget melons; only 60-75 days
I'm trying some of those this year too!
I'm so grateful for this info. I am never sure about when to start Fall crops. Love your channel.
You are so welcome!
Glad I found your videos!
Welcome aboard!
Thank you so much. Just moved to zone 6 last Oct and trying to get my timing right for my garden crops. I will definitely be looking back at your previous video on this series for tips to help with next years season as well. Glad to hear I have time to get the early spring crops I missed planted up for fall harvest.
Best of luck!
Thank you for answering the questions I had about when to start seeds indoor for fall crops and when to transplant them out into the garden. I'm trying that for the first time this year. I've been wanting to do that for a few years.
Glad to help!
I needed this info in my life. Especially planting broccoli, Brussels, cauliflower, etc. This is where I mess up.
I had to revisit this episode because six places became available in the garden. Double thanks to you!😊
Exactly what I needed to know!
Glad it helped!
Just found your site. Very informative.
Awesome, thank you!
These videos have been helping me so much! I've started to take notes 😂
I'm so glad!
33 degree low tommorow night in mid michigan zone 5. Big oof. Alot of tomatoes and peppers out but I think they'll live
Water the ground pretty good and cover the plant with an old sheet...(1-2). We ask the goodwill/thrift stores for the 1s they had donated that have holes in them and they will sell them for 10 cents each.. They have saved my butt many of times..
My grandma taught me that and we lived in coper harbor at the time in the UP
Hope it helps.. 👋
I found those long peppers at Walmart. Saved the seeds and got a dozen plants out of them. Cant wait to see what they will actually be. Very excited for still planting cucumbers. I want some little crispy ones.
So excited to find this!!! Especially the information of when to seed indoors for fall planting! North Central IN Zone 5b
Glad it was helpful!
Lots of Great information! Thanks!

Thank you for this video. I didnt know what dates I should start my fall crops. I've actually never done that before.
I usually get mine started around June 20th here in zone 6b.
Same here. Now it's a matter of planning what can be planted and where with summer crops still in the ground.
Super helpful
Glad it helped!!
Here is your Zones 5 and 6 planting guide for June! Plenty of time to still get a garden in! Enjoy!
Thanks for this video much appreciated.
You're Welcome!!
Hello, can peppers still be planted in late June?
I kove this thank u u do a great job
Thanks!
I start planting from February straight until august
I’m very limited to what I can plant in June. I’m in zone 9a, but I can add more eggplants to my garden.
Liked and shared! Thank you for your videos. 💫y
You are so welcome
Thanks for the great info. Do you have any advice on sunflowers and grapes 9mainly for leaves)? Can they be done in June/July in zone 6?
It's getting a bit late for sunflowers but you could still give them a try and see how they do.
You could plant grapes now if you wanted. Just know the summer heat is very hard on new transplants, so the plants would do better if you wait until fall or next spring.
I understand starting seeds for fall plants now but since it's nice and warm can't we keep our seed trays outside? Why inside?
Because those fall plants are all cool season crops and will need the cooler temperatures of inside to keep them thriving.
New subscriber here! Thanks so much for sharing :)
Welcome!!
Are you saying seed planting or transplanting for June?
Tomatoes and peppers should be planted by transplants. The rest can go in by seed.
When you say I can "plant" the herbs you listed, was that direct sow or from starts?
Either would be okay, but if you use starts you will have herbs ready to harvest much sooner than you would direct seeding.
what about eggplant from seed? too late? okra?
I feel like it is a little late in the year to plant eggplant from seed. You would be better off planting seedlings. But I admit I've never tried it this late. Give it a try and let me know how it goes.
@@StoneyAcresGardening will do! I can't find any starts at the local nurseries or I'd go with starts!
Early June is perfect time for your okra in zone 5. Can't speak for zone 6 although I'm sure you'd be fine.
Can I cut off top greens of beats to eat early before beats ready to harvest?
You can remove some of the greens and leave others, but they do need some leaves to mature.
I'm new to gardening, so how do you know which zone your in?
There is a link in the video description where you can find your zone.
I want to plant . Hope the rains stop next week so I can .
What about garlic I'm in north Alabama 7b
Garlic is planted in the fall in your Zone. You should put it in some time in October and it will be ready to harvest the next summer.
What state do you live in ,ay i ask? Im in Kansas
thanks. green beans but not peas?
Peas are cool season crops. It is to hot in June for peas.
@@StoneyAcresGardening thanks I will have to keep mine inside for a while lol
how about corn
Why can’t zones be global?
Where are you located?
