hi, do u think the original design is sufficient if kept well lubed? i have a 79 that was struggling because the grease dried and got hard, door latch alsoanother repair , wore the teflon guides weird , and bent the window rail guide. thnx for another sweet vid. catching up while waitin for ollies
No not at all. Porsche figured that one out buy the late 1970's. Its not just keeping the regulator lubed. Its the weight of glass, the drag of the window felts and the fact that a parallel window arm is just not up to the task. The other thing to remember is your car is 45 years old and things will wear out, dry out, and will just generally parts will need to be replaced or overhauled. Thanks for watching and all your comments Kurt
@@klassikatsok then, yet another couple parts on the list. more scared of pullin the rail off the glass than the price of new regulators. if i come up w any tricks to remove them without feeling puckered i ll let it be known.
Another super helpful video. Well done! I have a friend that wants to 'backdate' his 911SC electric window regulators to manual crank. I'm not sure it's worth it, though. What do you think?
I did both regulators on my 84 Targa long time go. They were totally destroyed by rust. I found good used ones and had them nickel plated. I never fully recovered from the experience. (PTSD)
You bent the rolling rail when installed it on the glass... It is pretty clear on the video you keep hitting it with the mallet. Not supposed to do that...
I did not bend anything, not sure what you are looking at there. This is the way I was shown to install the window rail to the glass while working at the Porsche dealership. Its an interference fit, I Am using a plastic mallet and Im not beating the crap out of it. How would you suggest that it be done? Kurt
Thanks Kurt! Great Job! Been there done that wrestling with aftermarket parts. Factory is always satisfactory. I have issues.
I still have to try other parts though. Some times the aftermarket part is just as good and sometimes can be better.
Kurt
Such determination! Wow, that one fought you. Thanks!
Sometimes that is just the way it goes.

Kurt You are amazing!...From a 911 Engine rebuilder to practical experience of the 911 body I can learn a lot from you.. cheers.
Thanks
Kurt
Thanks for make a video on this topic, this is one of the many items I need to do my 911.
Your Welcome.

So helpful 👍 I’m also amazed how there’s never any cursing 😂 my neighbours five doors down would hear me doing this job I’m sure.
That's what editing is for. S

So don’t buy the Dansk and it’ll go much easier.
Yes, I would not use the Dansk regulator again on this job.
