I was just graduating college in '78. I lived though the greatest era's of music....late 60's, 70's, 80's & 90's. Music will NEVER be that great again.....ever!
A great power pop song gets into your ear. Grabs hold of your brain and won't let go all day. Gets the internal replay sometimes known as humming or whistling. I love this musical genre. A well crafted power pop song is thing of beauty. Keep exploring this genre Nick. Great job as usual.
I love this marathon and the one you added Nick. Great choices all around. Haven't heard Dwight Twilley in ages. That was fun. I love Driver's Seat... such a great song! And a great scene in Boogie Nights. I didn't know The Kings, but another great song. I love this Plimsouls song and again, a great scene in Valley Girl. And the Modern English song was a huge hit and a great song. And The Smiths are such a great band and I love this song! Thank you Kevin for sponsoring this!!
this was a great excavation K.Brewski. Some bonafide one hit beauties. Love that Dwight Twilley Band song that was a great resurrection . Been forever and a day since I heard that one. Thoroughly enjoyed it. 👍👍
Always liked 'Drivers Seat'. Great tune! Thanks @kevin!!! My neighbor had it when I was a teenager, and I can't recall what the rest of the album was like?
Nouvelle Vague does a really sultry version of "Melt with You" worth sharing. Women's perspective. They also do a great little NSFW song called "Too Drunk to F*ck". Driver's Seat is always fun. Thanks Kev and Nick.
I grew up with The Beatles, then subsequently Yes and ELP, but really glad you reacted to this song by The Plimsouls!! My favorite song by them, those guitars!! And also The Smiths! Just saw Johnny Marr live 5 years ago, an amazing show!!!
This Best goes on/Switchen to Glide we’re played to back to back every Friday at 5pm on my local radio station to kick off the weekend. Great tune to travel home to in traffic. Switching to glide is a vibe! Classic
Nick, Everyone is born at the right time including Lex, you and your generation. This is music of my late teens and early twenties except The Smiths. There were New Wave parties and New Wave nights at disco clubs that played songs like these. This sub genre of New Wave appealed to the outliers who may have steered away from classic rock and Album Oriented Rock.
The Kings was actually a two song medley The Beat Goes On/Switchin' To Glide that was always played together. (Except when I was a DJ in college when thus came out. I did the sign on shift, and on Tuesdays I would slip-cue Switchin' To Glide so the first thing heard at 6 am Tuesday was "Nothin matters but the weekend from a Tuesday point of view" Slip cueing was a way to start a vinyl record at an exact point without having to wait for it to come up to speed. You would move it back abd forth-off air-to find the exact point you wanted. Then, holdind your fingertip on the edg, start the motor. When uou released your finger, it started from the exact point. Yes, life was hard bsck then, before digital 😂)
@@kbrewski1 they appeared exactly that way on the original LP, too. I never saw the single. We received the album. (This was the last year or so of vinyl at the station before the changeover to CD began. I remember the Kings, Sniff & the Tears, plus groups like The Vapors--remember Turning Japanese 😆)
Fun, and obscure fact: There was another song titled 'I'm on Fire' from around the same time, I believe, by a long-forgotten band called 5000 Volts. I think that I must have been the only one in my city who owned a copy of "Fickle Heart" by Sniff 'n' the Tears, lol. The Plimsouls were so good; I'm not sure if even this song was a 'hit' at the time, but it doesn't matter, it's great. Peter Case went on to do some interesting stuff in more of a folk/alt. country vibe. I always really liked 'Life in the Gladhouse' from the same Modern English album. Love your choice by The Smiths; just recently I went back to re-listen to "Meat is Murder", so good. Great marathon.
Wie wäre es mit Crossbone Skully? Das wäre so cool. Du wirst es lieben. Ganz neu. 3 Songs bisher. Tommy Henriksen Gitarrist von Alice Cooper ist der Macher.
OMG!!! Driver’s seat. The best memories of my childhood. Congratulations for the tune
Rest in peace, Dwight Twilley 💔
Absolutely love "DRIVER SEAT"😅
Bitchin lineup. The Kings!

Saw "Sniff in the tears " open up for "Kansas" around 79' or 80' .
Most of these appear to be one hit wonders. A great list!

I Melt With You has often been at the top or near the top of lists of "Best Songs of The 80's"
90%? Oh, man come on people! Let's get to 100k for this wonderful couple and doggie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You should dig in to the Plimsouls. They were painfully underrated and underappreciated back in the day.
This was a good one.

Longtime watcher, longtime requester in the chat. I'm here for all these hits

Watch the movie "VALLEY GIRLS " GR8 Soundtrack 👍
The Plimsouls UA-cam sounded fine.👍

@@kbrewski1 Yeah, I don't think it made the Top 40, and I knew the song before seeing them in Valley Girl.
Heard these before: Sniff 'n' The Tears & Modern English, but not the others.👍
Hey chill! Too funny! 👍🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Check out Plumsouls oldest story in the world and everywhere at once
Mix Tape, Nick, speaking of which, when is the next 11:11 Episode???

Nick, get a note pad so you can jot down things you want to say without forgetting by the end of a song. I get what you're saying.
F1rst!!!🎉🎉🎉
