My favorite weapon type! Man gunnery implants are so good, seeing my conquest snipe a frigate at max range using gauss with the aim prediction gives me a lot of satisfaction.
On another note, frag weapons are often easily dismissed since they deal the most damage to hull and missiles. Consider their utility for both point defense and as finishers if wielding Locust swarmers or Thumper array to saturate a target. And most effective in player hands as they shouldn't be fired so the flux balancing will be focused on the ones that provide HE and Kinetic pressure.
I intend to talk about the Locust Swarm in the missle guide. It's the exception to frag damage can be good. The amount of saturation it provides is insane. It's even better when you have elite missile specialization and you fire twice as fast.
There is the UAF mod and one of their PD weapons "trix" does entirely fragmentation, but slap multiple of them on the ARMOR only unique capital ship for a crazy good time. Go deep, go hard, endless chain 50k fun. Fragmentation large slots in vanilla have use cases, the mediums kind of have a sweet spot for range. It really pays to know how each weapon type AND weapon subgroups actually work. I ended up changing all of my loadouts after giving fragmentation a chance.
One thing to note about Kinetic weapons, DUAL/Double weapon options always have lower accuracy. Depending on the position and use case, single turret as opposed to the double might have comparable damage because the shots are actually connecting.
Totally, also the elite "Field modulation" skill is just amazing! Being able to dissipate at least a fraction of the hard flux even with the shields up can be a total game changer in longer standoff battles.
Still alive? What a relieve 🤘
Finally found a good guide series. Thanks!
Nice! I've watched your previous guides a ton. Excited to see a new one! Appreciate you making them 🙏
Glad to see you throwing out more starsector vids :) keep em coming

Never underestimate the combat skills. Having your ballistics fly 10% faster can be the difference between life and death.

Dont be happy for a reason, because you can loose that reason. Well my reason is a fully decked out onslaught wing so im pretty sure i cant loose it
"Medium range, low flux" - I mean... most of them, but not all. Could not really wrap my head around that generalization.
And heck that is before mods which completely throw *any* generalization out of whack :D
