I know a guy who builds PC quite often. Theres been only one time where he fucked up and triped over a cable during the update and the manufacturer covered it through the warranty (Asus). Honestly it isn't that bad especially if you have dual bios.

My PC mobo is asus tuf B550M gaming plus wifi ii, just create a fat32 disk on your sata hdd (don't create disk on ssd or m.2 ssd for safety). Then go to ez flash utility and update bios. Easy, no need usb

I got my PC in 2020 and I haven't updated the bios since then but now I have to because the current bios doesn't support 5000 series CPU's which I am upgrading to.
@@LesoTheGamerboy a320m-s2h motherboard? been reading you have to update twice, first to f32 then to the newest. I could be wrong I have extream trouble reading now and it is scaring the heck out of me to switch to the rysen 5 5600x.
@@jeffillick3025 my motherboard is the msi b450 tomahawk max and my PC is working fine with a Ryzen 7 5700x after the bios update. I only needed to do one bios update to get it working but if people are saying you need to update it twice, better to do that just to be safe.
An older bios may not work with newer version of windows or hardware. For example, my bios is old (2020) and is constantly crashing when I'm installing Windows 11. There are necessary tweaks for the firmware for it to work with newer hardware, software and windows

I updated my BIOS and now every time I reboot my PC it gets stuck booting. I can tell since the motherboard lights for powering each system isn’t doing anything. After a few more try’s it does actually boot. Usually it takes a second or two for each. But I can sit there for an hour without it booting sometimes. Every time it starts to get longer and longer for it to boot.
Oh I had trouble for this no one said this but The motherboard is not like a cell phone I was stuck in 3.30 it wouldn’t let me update it to 7.40 and I thought I was doing something wrong. I had to upgrade it to 7.00 So I can updated it to 7.40 it took about almost the whole day trying to figure this out 😅

Bro there is a few smaller details that are need to be explained for this process like.. 1) you need to use the renamer tool that comes with the new BIOs folder when you go to download the latest BIOs file. 2) If you have a BIOs flashback button you need to press and hold that for 3 seconds after you put in the flash drive into the BIOs USB port on the back of the PC and when in doubt of the whole process. Never ever cut off the power entirely when doing this whole process! So no, it's not simple simple!

Downloaded the file and i have a BIOSrenamer.exe and a "moboname/bios number" .cap file. Do i only need to copy the .cap file to the usb? Like will the renamer executable interfere negatively?

It is ok to to that however depends on how powerful your PC is so it would not hurt to at least start with the closes new dated update and then go back and do the absolute latest BIOs update.
Gonna try this. My pc randomly stopped booting. The CPU light has turned off but from everything I’ve looked at, all my parts are still fine. PC still turns on but it can’t get pass the initial boot phase before opening windows. Hoping the issue is that the Bios needs to be reset
How important is it that the flash drive is plugged into the port that says BIOS? It’s my first time but when I went to instant flash in my bios (nzxt) it found the drive with the .ROM file on it just fine, and it’s plugged into front panel USB

Between 8GB and 32GB. 16GB is the best bet since you’ll have about 15 or 14GB space to use

You shouldn’t update your bios unless there’s a critical security flaw that is fixed or u need support for a new type of drive
