I’ve watched this performance so many times now and I’m convinced Michael feels the music so intensely that he’s unaware of anything else. Possessed in a way. Very rare these days and it’s an awesome thing to see. Ya I know it sounds loony tunes but it’s hard to put into words. Both of the brothers are incredible musicians and songwriters! The future is gonna be really exciting and interesting! I can’t wait to see what these guys do.
It is definitely one of their best for sure and it is the best performance from any band that I've seen appear on "The Jimmy Kimmel King of Hypocrites Show".
@T Doom, please don't take this as me being a troll or anything of that negative nature but based on your comment I went and just watched their performance of Small Victories on KEXP and I have to say I found personally that this performance of The Fire on Jimmy Kimmel was a lot better. They seemed to have more energy and output. I will say that the guitar solo at the end of their KEXP performance was far superior and really amazing. Just my opinion.
What a performance! The drums were really 'Tom Tom' Brian's expert guitaring just gorgeous. Michael the story teller ... I tell ya this band got me outta my depression.
This performance and this band gives me actual hope for the future. I’ve seen them Live, 2 times! Trust me, it is a MUST! You will NEVER forget it! Simply indescribable how great they are Live.
The songwriting is phenomenal and super sophisticated for anyone let alone dudes this young. They have no business being this good. Surprised im just hearing them now, thanks to Tim Heidecker.
they are from a talented musical family. their father was a successful song writer. they have music in their bones. they have every right. doesn't happen often... these kids are the real deal x
So glad somebody recorded the Kimmel session and uploaded it here, cause it got taken down from the Kimmel channel! The Kimmel version of Small Victories is so damn much better than the studio version! You rock, dude! :)
I remember seeing this performance years ago and being totally engrossed in Michael's almost rage-filled performance. "The Fire" is one of my favorite songs from that album and the energy and musicianship here was insane. But later I couldn't find the video. Guess it got taken down. Maybe they were offput by a deranged youth singing about a school fire lol. But it was a pleasant surpise to find a different upload of it in my feed tonight. Thanks!
Recently discovered this band I’m really impressed… such group would pop up on every neighbourhood in the 70’s but now is quite a miracle. Bless them. Rock’n roll once more proving he’s a die hard.
My heart is happy knowing at least a few of the best musicians of the 60’s ended up reincarnating. I’ve seem them live a few times and it brings me back to Rock n Roll Circus vibes. But not like they’re trying to do that. They just naturally are that.
Their bands have always been tight and they were already touring these songs but bands with brothers often give that vibe of being very tight nit. Especially after you write songs so you play them a hundred times then you tour with them a Lil play them a hundred more times rehearsing them for shows them play them live a hundred times. Them record it play it 200 hundred times. And then tour again playin.... and on and on so yes but they are naturally very tight
Everyone rocks and that’s a problem. Too many First Ladies in this configuration. Much better now I think. Also, Mike has toned down the cringe which is good. His early life crisis ended thankfully.
THX man! It's been some time I was searching this live video of The Fire! Like... this is the best live version of The Fire I saw from them online. Such emotion, such showmanship, mistakes are welcome, there's tension: I don't understand why it gets taken down. Somebody knows why?
@@bananasinpyjamas3415 Hmm a bullied boy burning up a school as revenge... Yep that's pretty controversial I guess. But there's way more controversial songs allowed on here :/ This one is mostly sad
Been some time since I watched this and now that I think about the lyrics and song had to be vetted. So I honestly think it was maybe firstly how Michael goes (almost certainly off script to the producers) "I was talking to Jimmy backstage etc. and WE saw, FLAMES" so that maybe caused backlash of people complaining to the show that Jimmy was complicit or approving of the subject matter of a "student" burning down a school. That along with maybe the producers optimism that people wouldn't be adverse to the subject matter let alone the fact that the subject matter is a lot less heavy understanding that the story is about a monkey doing these things and the unwitting audience having no way of knowing that, unfortunate as it is. What brilliant performances. I pray it doesn't hold them back from being on TV again. These TV people will fucking lose it on you if you do something off script. Elvis Costello was "banned" (events let back on) from snl for switching what song he would play to an unscheduled one. The replacements were banned from snl for giving the recovering alcoholic host of the show booze and then saying fuck (as in damn I fucked that line up) very audibly on mic. They were so young here this was already what 3-4 years ago almost. Mike's calmed down some I think by his own volition (not company pressure.) Oh wait they were on seth Meyers with new songs since this so I think they're fine. They definitely have a lot of fans in the industry in the best way.
I love that the brothers command the stage. But then their band always seems like a group of people who have seemingly never even stood up to play before. Lol
i feel like the youngest brother tries so hard to be the frontman of the band but i gotta be honest i digg it his style is very entertaining ROCK ON DUDE
Mike's actually very dependent on Brian and I think very much sees himself as at the very most 50% of frontman responsibility. He likes to get crazy and absolutely destroys when it was his turn. But Brian was sick for one show and Mike had to play the show solo (with the rest of the band tho) and I was actually excited when I heard this was gonna happen because I have a tendency to like Mike's songs and performances more than Brian's but Mike looked completely lost devastated to be playing without his brother. I was surprised. Probably what makes them so great. Edit: not disagreeing btw Michael rules!!!!
guys, I discovered this band because I'm a big musical fan, and Brian Daddario performed as Flounder in the original broadway version of The Little Mermaid. SO HELP ME PLEASE: who is he here? and who is michael daddario here?
Brian is the one in the red and white checkered suit who sings the first song, and Michael is the one in the red hoodie who sings the second! Definitely check out all of their album “Go To School” if you’re into musicals (i am too)! There’s a huge musical theater influence throughout, and some songs are completely in the style of broadway, definitely with a Sondheim influence. Welcome to the world of the Lemon Twigs!
It’s a Pearl budget line Tempro student kit. Their parents bought it for them, from their school when they were kids. They paid $25 for the drums. The Twigs have recorded every album, except for Do Hollywood, with that drum set and it’s been all over the world. Crazy cool….

i love his little hip swing action lmao gosh they’re fucking awesome
I'd like to recreate Michael's performance at my next board meeting 😂
Super animated version of “The Fire.” Brilliant execution, Michael.
Never seen this til today and OH MY GOD...INTENSE PERFORMANCE EVER!!!!
So powerful!
You're on every one of their vids and you've never seen this? Crazy...
I love this performance of the Fire. Listened to it over and over again in my car for a week after seeing them play it live.

Not even close. The jam part on Small Victories from their KEXP sessions is a hundred leightyears over this.
I agree! One of their bests.

Great vocals. Advanced talent musically and the influence from the greats like Meatloaf, Beatles and Todd Rundgren. Excellent.
Beach Boys and Sparks too.

This version is the best. Theres a radio session with a good solo
I've also thought this. I think their producer for the album really let them down, as this and Small Victories sound fantastic live.
The version on jools Holland in the UK is much better
