    Yea these are great, brew a cup, put in a spot of creme then put it in the microwave because it's already too cold, brilliant product.

    The machine I bought about a year ago-Vue - broke today and Keurig is sending me this model for free. The 2.0 550. I know there is some drama about the machine having to read a code on the cups, but the hack is very simple-if you have any cups without.
    The one thing I will miss is being able to use my adapter. Especially when I buy the Starbucks Christmas blend. But a friend of mine taught me a little trick. Hopefully it works. If it doesn't I guess I'll just have to deal with it and make my Starbucks Xmas blend in a French press.
    I am kind of mad that the machine that was supposed to be an up-and-coming wonderful new edition was not only discontinued it broke in less than one year. I am happy that they are sending me the newest 2.0 with the biggest water reservoir as a replacement.
    We debated over buying the 2.0 but I was kind of loving my Vue.
    So I guess things work out the way they do. I am getting the platinum one. Hopefully actually I hope it is the platinum one. I hope it doesn't make the wretched noise that the VUE made.

    I just bought one and so far, have used two kinds of coffee that came with the machine and both are awful. The store told me that a box of packets that did not say Keurig would work---they did not, so a big waste of money there. I just wasted a ton of money on a Keurig machine. In short, If you have an old keurig, DON'T buy a new one!

      I have 5 older machines and will use them until they die. I have the first Mini that had a travel pack you can take anywhere and a newer mini. A elite, 2 of the timer ones and the one I'm using is the best one I've had. They all work but I just had to have the next one up. NOT the 2.0. It's a monopoly. You can't use the "My K-Cup" or other fill it yourself cups. :( Ditch the 2.0...or wait until they work all the bugs out. I told them, "If it ain't broken, don't fix it"

      I just bought an Elite. No problems with other brands. They can shove their K2's.

      Marc Perroquet Actually I am the only one in the house who drinks coffee so a MINI would work for me the best. Got the others as I'm a coffee maker nut. :) Keurig still makes the MINI and Elite.

      This new 2.0 is prob gonna be your best option- esp if you want Keurig! :) The original Keurig K-cup machines... ALL came with a brown colored kcup looking adaptor that flipped open & you could use your own loose grounds in it- as an option. It had all the right puncture holes, etc... in the right places to be used in place of the k-cup & has worked perfectly (albeit a tiny bit of a PITA to clean/rinse every time.. well, maybe just not as easy as a throw-away k-cup) in mine for 6+ years... I'd assume that accessory is still sold at any BedBath&Beyond, Target, Costco, Walmart or anywhere Keurig machines are sold. Thing is- w/ this new 2.0.. ALL k-cups used HAVE to have that ring of words around the outside to be read/recognized, in order to work. You could get that adaptor & modify using one of the used k-cups (from samples that come with every machine)... cut out the label & perm. attach it to the k-adaptor top, with tape.... OR.. keep 1 of the included k-cups, once used ... clean it out & ... add coffee grounds to your liking... close & use. It's prob. a LOT easier to use the used k-cups.... but also not as neat. It's a LOT easier still... to just use either ready to go purchased k-cups, vue cups (with a k-carafe used label on it (for now- until compatible).. which actually offers more size options now too) or the K-carafe cups. ..... Regardless.. where there's a will....... just know there IS a way! :) Enjoy!

    keurig should've stuck to one size as I understand it the largest size is 80 oz 300 60 oz 400 70 oz currently v 600 700 is 74 oz the carafe and use of both k cups and vue packs is a step up versatility could've gone further

  • @MCMXC.a.D.
    @MCMXC.a.D. 10 років тому +1

    So basically one carafe = one cup? or one carafe = more than one cup? .... because even if you get all those carafe's ..... lets say half of them are gone in a day (depending on how many cups from one carafe) ... isn't that costly, long term?

    • @chrisnzella
      @chrisnzella 9 років тому

      Another video says the carafe is 28 ounces. I wish they would not have stopped the original Keurig makers. I'm hanging on to the ones I have as long as possible.

      They now require you to use ONLY official K-Cups that have a digital ring in the top so the machine can know if its a real K-Cup or not. You can easily hack the machine by simply saving a K-cup top, and taping it to the top of an "off" brand" the machine will see the K-Cup top that is taped over the "off" brand top and it will work. Sooner or later, due to Keurig's proprietary actions, all makers who will make coffee for the Keurig machines, will have to go through licensing to make their brand compatible with the 2.0 machines.

      Where I live I can go down to the gas station about 2 blocks away and get my coffee and walk back home in the time it takes to do the hack. When they work all the bugs out I will then THINK about buying this.

    • @Blaydrnnnr
      @Blaydrnnnr 9 років тому

      Chris Rasmussen I doubt it, it took me a few seconds to pull the lid off and stick it on the "of" brand lid. I just save the same one and place it on the cup I want to make. You dont have to re-make a new "hack" lid for every cup. I spend more time getting the cup from the cabinet. But I know what you mean. As for working the bugs out, if you mean making the machine use ONLY their proprietary products, that aint gonna happen. They want it this way. They figured out they were loosing millions because people could buy their machine, and NOT pay like .50-.60 a darn cup for coffee. ( Off brand K-cups are alot cheaper, and being able to use ANY coffee in the old machine user adapter was a ton cheaper then that!)
      The bugs I DONT like is the way the machine itself works. Makes a ton of racket, sounds like its struggling to pump, splashes quite a bit, and really doesnt sound like a machine worth $200, or that will last.

      Blaydrnnnr welcome to 2017 when the reusable pods now exists. I have a small one for individual that's purple and I have a large orange one that brews carafes in my 2.0. I don't by pods. I buy coffee grounds and make my own. Purchased the machine with the reusable pods for Christmas 2016.

    I got the K550 as a replacement for my Platinum version that stopped working. I have to be honest, for a $200 coffee maker, this thing is a huge disappointment. For this much money, it has zero elegance and makes the most terrible sounds as it works. The older versions did as well, but you would think that for a second gen machine, for $200, it would be alot quieter, flow better, splashless, and be glitch free. mine is a week old and has glitched three times already. Restarting the machine fixed it, but really?? I am very un-impressed buy the new 2.0. For $200, and about .60 a K-Cup, this thing should be much, MUCH better.

    Three stars. The coffee is NOT very hot.... the carafe is not easy to set in place... and the coffee is weak... all compared to the Keurig personal brewer. Our mini Keurig burned out, so I had to replace it.... should have stayed with the same K-10 model instead of stepping DOWN to their "flagship" model. The K-10 blows this model totally out of the universe when it comes to actually brewing coffee.... and 1/3rd the price!
