  • Mark Jarvis talks catamaran construction in this video; looking at how the Broadblue and Rapier Series catamarans are built vs other brands. This is purely to show the specific differences and to hear why Mark - Broadblue's Design Director and avid multihull sailor - has chosen one route over another.

    Hi Mark, interesting video of my Rapier 400, some things you mentioned I did not know. You also mentioned that all broadblue boats have safety glass windows, this is not the case on my rapier 400 they are acrylic.

    You don't actually mention what resin you are using...that would be very helpful to future buyers to know. So is the a 100% epoxy e-glass boat, or did you go with the less expensive vinyl ester?

    Rapier 400 just looks like an outdated Seawind.

      Thank you for your comment regarding the comparison with a Seawind;
      The Rapier 400 is designed as a performance cruiser and is therefore much lighter than most, if not all production competitors including the Seawind, Lagoon, Nautitech and Leopard. The lightweight and lower installed height of the sail plan allows for a better power to weight ration than any other model in its class.
      The open plan layout of the Rapier 400 is much more usable than some other brands because there isn’t a large door sweeping across the floor on its way into the coachroof, limiting the use and furniture in this area and the central helm station makes visibility from the helm to all corners of the boat very easy.
