I have been able to get perfect scores on my writing because of you and your helpful videos. Ugh I just love them. You get straight into the point and explain everything so well. I just watch a few videos of yours before my exams and I'm set. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for these masterpieces. ❤
Thank you, Phill! I watched your videos about B1 writing and it helped me a lot to get an 'A' grade. Your videos are fabulous and taught simply and in a really well manner.
@@teacherphill I had the exam today and it was good. Very stressful, but good. I have the speaking part tomorrow and I`ll be done with it. Thank you for your videos about the writing part of the exam. They proved to be very helpul and my essay was basically like yours:)) Thank you for this video, very intuitive 👍
hi! I love your videos :) I'm learning a lot with you! I'd like to ask you something as I am preparing myself for the FCE (self study) but I can't quite get if we need to state our opinion in the intro (you said we have to) and in the conclusion or only in the conclusion (I have found info about both). I found in the Cambridge website that it's in both parts but then in their examples it is not showed... It says: "Introduce the topic using a general statement and give your opinion. Say whether you agree or disagree with the statement." and "Summarise your ideas and repeat your opinion using different words to provide a strong conclusion". I'm basically writing it in both, but wanted to make sure this is ok! I'm assuming it is not essential, but recommended? thanks!
Hi Rebeca, you don't have to give your opinion in the intro, but definitely in the conclusion. In the introduction, you must create context, introduce the topic and pique the reader's interest. Giving your opinion, as I do in the video, is one way to achieve the last point, but you might do that differently. In the conclusion, however, your opinion is mandatory.
Hi! I have a question. As we know essays should be formal. But what about using first person or second person/people in an essay? Is it too informal for an essay or it’s actually allowed? Let’s say in a Task like “There are more reasons to learn a language than to pass a test. Do you agree?” If I write an intro like that: “The world around us is vast and multicultural, and languages are intrinsically part of it. I truly wish to become a polyglot one day, for I believe languages bring countless benefits in various areas of our lives”. Is ok to say “around us”, “our lives”, “I truly wish” or “I believe”?
The part about yourself is quite personal and I would avoid it, but if it's directly connected to the essay question, it's OK. I would probably just leave that part out and say instead: ... languages are intrinsically part of it and bring countless benefits to various areas of our lives.
Hi Priscylla, thank you for your comment. I'm not quite sure what you mean. In the video, I talk about the introduction (part 1), the three topic paragraphs (part 2) as well as the conclusion (part 3). In total that's five paragraphs, which should cover everything in the task. Perhaps you could explain a little bit more what you mean or email me on info@teacherphill.com and I would be happy to clarify.
@@teacherphill Hey, teacher! Thanks for you answer. I mean, I didn't see how the whole written text would look, just 3 written examples. That's why I said some parts are missing. Got it?
@@teacherphill Well, you didn't explain how to write such a good essay. Maybe you could explain how did you get the idea of writing this. Furthermore you didn't explain how to analyse each topic. Don't take it as a hate comment.
Thank you, Phill! Your advice is really helpful. I've passed my exam with a high score. You're great!
Fantastic! I'm really happy you passed. You can be proud of yourself. :)

Today's my monthly test in FCE. I have to write an essay. I really hates writing an essays but you changes my mind. Thnks a lot.
That's great to hear. I hope you can use my advice for your writing. :)

Hi Mr. Phill I just wanted to let you know I'm facing the fce examination tomorrow and thank you for all your videos which helped me with my studies 😊
Best of luck! :)
this video helped me a lot, thanks
You're welcome, Milene. I'm glad it was helpful to you. :)
good teachings
I'm happy you find the video useful.
Thank you so much
You're welcome. :)
Hello, I have a question. what and where did you add the third note? it is given two notes: transport and rivers and sea, where is the third?
In the video, I explain how to write an essay with the basic principles, but I don't write the full essay for this task.
I have my B2 next week and I`m so nervous honestly😅
I can imagine, but just keep practising and I'm sure you'll be fine. :)

If I want to correct a mistake later on, how will I remove the mistake without starting over or having a messy phrase on the sidelines with an arrow?
Cross it out and correct it. Don't write in the margins. Make a plan before you start writing so you minimize the risk.
Thanks.
You're welcome. :)
