HANK IS THE BEST! Sooo many car rides to Oklahoma and Kansas with Hank tapes playing the whole trip (but only after we got out of traffic so my Dad could enjoy it too). The books are one thing but the AUDIO BOOKS READ BY JOHN ARE LITTERALLY PERFECT. If you have not heard one yet and are a fan you are MISSING OUT. All I can hear while he is talking is a less energetic Hank. I remeber John visiting a local bookstore in Houston for a reading and it was a top 10 event of my early years. The only gripe is that he has recently changed his classic background music/sound effects.
I discovered Hank the Cow-dog in the aftermath of a nasty divorce with two small children. All of us listening to Hank on long road trips was great healing for us. Thank you John Erickson.
Countless road trips with my grandparents in their Oldsmobile station wagon listening to Hank the Cowdog. I’ll never forget when Hank ate Ivory Dog Bars.
We found Hank the Cowdogs books when I was looking for audiobooks for a road trip. It is now a must have for my 6 boys. My husband and I enjoy them as well.
i grew up listening to the series, listening to it on road trips was always entertaining I have re listened to these books a dozen times I'm wanting to get each book in the series, because they are so entertaining and fun to listen to while working or driving and everything. I have 14 audio books and monkey business is probably my favorite book that I've had since I was a kid, I also like it's a dogs life. well appreciate your writing Craft and if he was to make 500 books I would wanna listen or read em all. what is crazy is he does these different voices And the all sounds different.
I grew up listening to my mom read Hank the cowdog every night. My brother believed the moon was made out of chopped liver. That same brother is now buying books so my toddler can have that be apart of his childhood too.
I am sure overjoyed that highbrow writing didn’t work out! Because, our lives would have been full of grey washed out books. Hank, is like a colorful family member at my grandchildren’s home. Hank brings the gift of laughter!
Was recommended Hank the cow dog for some pretty good listening. Now I am a huge fan. When I first heard John read I did not know the background he came from until later. But when I heard his voice I knew deep down he was 100% true Texan. I also am a Texan myself so listening to him and hearing just Ginuwine true honesty and how he tells stories is absolutely amazing. Just in case John may peruse the comments, please keep up the good work sir. Thank you for posting the video as well. Everyone take care, take it easy and be safe
I think Hank is an essential part of the 90's southern roadtrip. Either from Mom while Dad drove (unless it was his "break" when he would trade one of kids for a backseat so he too could enjoy some video gaming (long live cartridge gaming, and its ability to withstand bumpy roads )) or via one of the amazing audio books (they really need to get then on spotify) Hank and his misadventures made long trips FLY by. It would never be a question of IF we would listen to a Hank book on a trip.... it would be the question of "HOW MANY", or if we had one that we were not familiar with. While I have enjoyed Hank many a time while traveling by plane, there is just SOMETHING about listening to Hank while on the road.... ESPECIALLY when your traveling through Northern Texas.... Hanks home turf!
HANK FANS!! What's your top 5 favorite Hank adventures? Case of the midnight russler is probubly number one just for how many laughs we had over the years from listening to the audio version of the weenie incident..... comedy GOLD! Who is your favorite Human/favorite animal? Drover HANDS DOWN. His logic is truly flawless! What is your favorite song? "We are cookies and we want to be eaten" is my Moms all time favorite. My friends and I actually performed a cover of it for her at her 70th B day party. COOKIES WERE EVERYWHERE!
I used to read Hank to my kids when they were little, about thirty years ago. I noticed several subtle Biblical ideas that were in there. Sometimes I would bring out a Hank book for family devotions. When I pointed out that the name "Beulah" in Isaiah 62 means "married," we had an interesting discussion about the relationship between Hank, Beulah and Plato, and since Beulah was married to Plato, Hank didn't stand a chance with her. And Plato wasn't worried about Hank. He was always pleasant and cordial when he talked to him. We had a lot of fun with Hank the Cowdog. We always laughed, and sometimes we dug a little deeper.

My kids LOVED the Hank the Cowdog books when they were young! Best when you listen to the authors narration. 💟
Thank you Mr Erickson for sticking with it. 3 generations of fans here.
Still so sad that all John Erikson's house, guest house, and work cabin burned down in that damned fire...

I've been buying the Hank audiobooks on Audible, one every two weeks.

His books literally saved me. I'd read Hank the cowdog and everything just seemed hopeful
I absolutely adored these books as a kid! I have a few of the audiobooks that I listen to when I need something comforting 🥰
I took my kids up to this book store, and toured around. Hank books are great.
SO WONDERFUL! I LOVE THE HANK BOOKS!
Thanks! I do too!
