I am writing based on my personal story, I grew up in a polygamous family, that is, my father had two wives, for me to have two mothers who lived in agreement, harmony, compassion, etc. he made me, as I grew up, a sensitive, open-minded man. Polygamy is been in existence long before any religion, is not about Christianity and Islam, is tradition in many culture. I came from Polygamy background. But Polygamy is for me because of personality.

Anyway, I abandoned what I considered organized religion after in depth study of the Bible and noting its clear usurping of pagan practices and deviation of Isa aka Jesus' practices along with the adoption of Pauline Christianity after his followers conquered Jerusalem in the year 80 CE. I had no interest in Islam and avoided including it in my studies. I instead went to study many ancient African KMT religions and spiritual beliefs intending to come to a 'source of ancient wisdom'. Anyway, I wanted to be objective and eventually decided to prove the Quran wrong, so I thought. I claimed, like many, that the Quran was just plagiarized stories from the Bible. You mentioned pagan practices yet failed to realize that Islam is the only deen aka ideology aka religion that eradicated paganism throughout the land of Arabia where it was deeply seeded for centuries. Repeating about the Blackstone without knowing that it isn't worshiped, isn't holy, nor is the Kaaba, and repeating Christian claims of a moon God is ridicuolus for anyone who claims to be learned. @outstandingpersonalrelationshi This is where I start to have a problem when men want the perceived 'benefits' of 2nd 3rd even 4th wife but in reality cannot possible manage the financial obligation. Unless the man is earning significantly above average salary it becomes a burden on the community to finance his indulgence through the state benefit system. My question would be thus - within an Islamic governance would the Bayt al Mal institution be required to provide funds for the multiple families? I do not know the answer, but I would doubt that until proven wrong. I don't dispute that there are good men who take the responsibility of maintaining more than one household seriously, and with best of intention to keep to shariah and sunnah and this is superior to the trend towards divorce and single parenthood , but perhaps I am being cynical when I suggest living on benefits and playing the system does not fulfil (in my view) the obligation to provide equally - or alternatively restrict oneself to one wife. I also think that there are always emotional compromises involved as soon as a man takes on a second wife. Having said that I accept that we have our individual emotional needs, and for some those compromises may be less significant. My advice to my son would be to think long and carefully before proceeding with an additional marriage. Both husband and wife/wives may face unanticipated reactions personally as well as externally. We would be completely outside of deen to suggest that polygamy is less than acceptable or in any way undesirable. For the majority of us it is not our chosen practice. For those that choose to do so, it is important to have clarity about what the issues are and you have contributed some profoundly valuable advice

I've noticed people judging those who have two spouses, yet the same people who judge those people often don't judge people who sleep with a different person every week, who then shun the sleeping partner for life afterward. They also often don't judge the person who dumps a different girlfriend every few months. It is better to be with two girls for life than to be single and with a different girl every month or year. I'm not promoting polygamy, but I'm just pointing out the double standard.

This is phenomenal. My partner introduced polygamy to me I flipped initially until I realized it was self issues and a closed mindset. It was his patience with me and explaining the bigger picture. Now I have the upmost respect for him because he wanted to change my life for the better and even our community. The safe space to communicate is a must!
JazakAllah khair Sister Profound. Brothers and Sisters this is essential education. As a man i have experienced co wives and i can say from experience it requires a great deal of work from all sides. I hesitate to generalise, but from what i hear from brothers most are most mature or aware enough and there is a tendency to rush into polygamy simply for sexual satisfaction or greed. Where are the wise elders amongst the men who can show the way. I put responsibility primarily on men. I think the reason for that should be obvious.
I read long time ago that men are by nature polygamous whereas women by nature are monoandric. Throughout the history all big civilization practiced polygamy as a very normal practice.
I was born in a polygamy family. I respect the fact that everyone has a right to self determination. every individual has the right to their own preferences. Polygamy life style is not for me. I reckon one wife only works best for me.
It's good to know your limits, I know several brothers who feel the same, usually due to the mishandling or ineffective leadership they saw of someone who practiced polygyny.

I have nothing against polygamy, but I frankly do not see how deep one on one relationships can develop or if they do, to the detriment of one or more wives over the special one. I know of an Afro-centered poly marriage and one of the wives (no longer in that circle and the husband is long deceased) told me that she never could get pregnant because by the time their husband got to her he was depleted. by the way, What about polyandry?
Even though my wife and I are into Polygyny, I don't even entertain the thought or subject of sex with a potential partner if we're not spiritually compatible or have no where near the same interests or goals.. idk I guess maturing as a man I've learned to look beyond just a pretty face or anything naturally attractive about a woman. It's much easier than you think when the necessary physical, mental, and emotional infrastructure is taken care of. It's extremely fun for all family members. One of my friends is married to four great women. Between them they have 24 children; one of the happiest families I've ever seen.
As salaamu alaikum I just would like to apologize, I was totally out of place. I'm not ashamed to say I made a mistake commenting on this subject. And the sister was right. Actually I was searching for another program and found this but I didn't fully give respect where it was due and I apologize. I can say from experience that being in a polygamous relationship with two women whom I adore dearly was not a problem for me. I 100 percent agree with this video.. We Muslims practice this in our religion but not everyone can undertake such a huge commitment and responsibility. It starts with mutual respect of all 3 parties in case of 1 man 2 wives. Then comes the independence, it is not just financial but emotional and spiritual too, of all 3 partners in marriage. It is a sacred contract you fulfill and you really have to try hard everyday no break ever to make a polygamous marriage work. You love and develop your wives and they work with you and develop you as a husband they share too. A lot of people have done this wrong and a lot of bad examples can be quoted. Failure does not make a good concept void. When it works it is absolute bliss... I have seen very close examples around me of middle income men supporting two households in every way and both their wives are thankful. Please understand that traditional concept of marriage and love is different from the Hollywood "you are my one and only" concept. Whereas when you vow to a marriage you take it all in and vow for better and for worse of times. Read Matthew 19:3-12, Jesus had an important teaching on marriage: one man, one woman for life. Anything extra is adultery. Even His disciples said, if that's the case then it's better to not marry. Jesus recognize that all men cannot be celibate, said whoever can live the life to do so.
If having more than one wife is committing adultery, why were the prophets or old not condemned for having more than one wife. They were all considered to be righteous and walked with God. All this passage talks about is the law of divorce and not about condemning anyone for having multiple wives. This definitely is something that society has to prepare a woman for from an early age. In my opinion, I think most women would not like to see their man sleeping with another woman, especially when it's happening in front of them.

People can paint situations that suit their fantasies and world view but reality is distinctly different story. Marrying many ladies requires a skill of managing a lot of contrasting desires. What's against the law is having multiple marriage certificates simultaneously. Marriage has a legal place in today's modern world, however, governments didn't create marriage and marriage ceremonies happen without government intervention daily.

Perhaps some context will do, I was raised an educated Christian, attending Christian schools for 11 years and studying the Bible along with Martin Luther's Catechism.
Anyway, I abandoned what I considered organized religion after in depth study of the Bible and noting its clear usurping of pagan practices and deviation of Isa aka Jesus' practices along with the adoption of Pauline Christianity after his followers conquered Jerusalem in the year 80 CE.
I had no interest in Islam and avoided including it in my studies. I instead went to study many ancient African KMT religions and spiritual beliefs intending to come to a 'source of ancient wisdom'.
Anyway, I wanted to be objective and eventually decided to prove the Quran wrong, so I thought. I claimed, like many, that the Quran was just plagiarized stories from the Bible.
Clearly I'm Muslim now and wanted to share that because @Jazz-fg2dm made a couple of statements which show me that you didn't include any study of the Quran or Islam in your quest for truth.
You mentioned pagan practices yet failed to realize that Islam is the only deen aka ideology aka religion that eradicated paganism throughout the land of Arabia where it was deeply seeded for centuries.
Repeating about the Blackstone without knowing that it isn't worshiped, isn't holy, nor is the Kaaba, and repeating Christian claims of a moon God is ridicuolus for anyone who claims to be learned.

Books like The Bible, The Quran & Science by French Dr Maurice Bucaille was one of the first that opened my eyes to the many modern miracles of the Quran that were reveled less than a century ago with specificity and with information unknown 1,500 yrs ago.
Modwen scientific miracles that science has recently discovered like:
The Expanding Universe
Iron being from outer space
Embryology
Big bang theory
Communication systems of ants
Mountains and tectonic plates
The several layers of the sky's protections
Orbit of sun, planets, and galaxies
Prefrontal cortex of the brain and lying
And so much more. I say that to share that it isnintellectually lazy to lay claims without studying the source on your own versus regurgitating someone else's opinion as fact.

@outstandingpersonalrelationshi This is where I start to have a problem when men want the perceived 'benefits' of 2nd 3rd even 4th wife but in reality cannot possible manage the financial obligation. Unless the man is earning significantly above average salary it becomes a burden on the community to finance his indulgence through the state benefit system. My question would be thus - within an Islamic governance would the Bayt al Mal institution be required to provide funds for the multiple families? I do not know the answer, but I would doubt that until proven wrong.
I don't dispute that there are good men who take the responsibility of maintaining more than one household seriously, and with best of intention to keep to shariah and sunnah and this is superior to the trend towards divorce and single parenthood , but perhaps I am being cynical when I suggest living on benefits and playing the system does not fulfil (in my view) the obligation to provide equally - or alternatively restrict oneself to one wife.
I also think that there are always emotional compromises involved as soon as a man takes on a second wife. Having said that I accept that we have our individual emotional needs, and for some those compromises may be less significant.
My advice to my son would be to think long and carefully before proceeding with an additional marriage. Both husband and wife/wives may face unanticipated reactions personally as well as externally.
We would be completely outside of deen to suggest that polygamy is less than acceptable or in any way undesirable. For the majority of us it is not our chosen practice. For those that choose to do so, it is important to have clarity about what the issues are and you have contributed some profoundly valuable advice

I've noticed people judging those who have two spouses, yet the same people who judge those people often don't judge people who sleep with a different person every week, who then shun the sleeping partner for life afterward. They also often don't judge the person who dumps a different girlfriend every few months. It is better to be with two girls for life than to be single and with a different girl every month or year. I'm not promoting polygamy, but I'm just pointing out the double standard.

This is phenomenal. My partner introduced polygamy to me I flipped initially until I realized it was self issues and a closed mindset. It was his patience with me and explaining the bigger picture. I think all parties involved have to be emotionally intelligent; having worked on or working on their past traumas, etc. before delving into this. The way polygyny is done by most is unhealthy. It’s also illegal in most states in the US so it just doesn’t feel like you have any rights. Too much!
Please do a video or two on the expectations of a husband for his wives to be friends and sisters in two separate monogamous marriages within polygyny. I have nothing against polygamy, but I frankly do not see how deep one on one relationships can develop or if they do, to the detriment of one or more wives over the special one. I know of an Afro-centered poly marriage and one of the wives (no longer in that circle and the husband is long deceased) told me that she never could get pregnant because by the time their husband got to her he was depleted. by the way, What about polyandry?

If you are “co” partner to anything or anyone you are giving your all but in the arrangement it’s looked upon as 50/50 split. The foundation which in this case is the man is receiving 💯. I 100 percent agree with this video.. We Muslims practice this in our religion but not everyone can undertake such a huge commitment and responsibility. It starts with mutual respect of all 3 parties in case of 1 man 2 wives. Then comes the independence, it is not just financial but emotional and spiritual too, of all 3 partners in marriage. It is a sacred contract you fulfill and you really have to try hard everyday no break ever to make a polygamous marriage work. You love and develop your wives and they work with you and develop you as a husband they share too. A lot of people have done this wrong and a lot of bad examples can be quoted. Failure does not make a good concept void. When it works it is absolute bliss... I have seen very close examples around me of middle income men supporting two households in every way and both their wives are thankful. Please understand that traditional concept of marriage and love is different from the Hollywood "you are my one and only" concept. This makes people turn on each other eventually when the brown stuff starts to hit the rotary oscillator. Whereas when you vow to a marriage you take it all in and vow for better and for worse of times. It is hard to live with someone who prefers God or their ideology and beliefs above you first and foremost and being with you in marriage is simply as a part of that covenant or belief system allowing you the grace to share lives... This is deep what this lady has talked about. I appreciate it a lot and wish more people could converse openly about human behaviour, beliefs and practices in marriage and it helps us reconnect and respect each other better as a global society.

The Roman Catholic church is the one who declared that it is a sin for a man to have more than one wife and the government of the world adopted it. God never said that. In the sight of your God, there isn't anything wrong or abominable about polygamy. God himself gave his blessing to polygamy. Not even those of you who are religious fanatics can prove any different. If God did not condemn polygamy, who are you all to say or think it is abominable. Please stop you all hatred towards people in a polygamy relationship.

Read Matthew 19:3-12, Jesus had an important teaching on marriage: one man, one woman for life. Anything extra is adultery. Even His disciples said, if that's the case then it's better to not marry. Jesus recognize that all men cannot be celibate, said whoever can live the life to do so.
If having more than one wife is committing adultery, why were the prophets or old not condemned for having more than one wife. They were all considered to be righteous and walked with God. All this passage talks about is the law of divorce and not about condemning anyone for having multiple wives. Are you saying that God is a flip-flop, saying one thing today and saying a different thing tomorrow regarding the same matter?
This definitely is something that society has to prepare a woman for from an early age. In my opinion, I think most women would not like to see their man sleeping with another woman, especially when it's happening in front of them.

Physical intimacy like sleeping together isn't all together, wives have their own homes and are alone with their husband's so no, it's not literally in front of the other wife, if that's what you thought.

People can paint situations that suit their fantasies and world view but reality is distinctly different story. Marrying many ladies requires a skill of managing a lot of contrasting desires. Most of them may not see eye to eye, but will pretend they do to keep your pocket open for their personal benefit. Wait till one or more of them wants more than her fair share of your resources, that's the day your problems begin
