Bob and all, these are the greatest little stoves, you just need to tweek it a bit! I have cooked with these in tents, tent campers inside and out, baked 100's cakes, cinnamon rolls, cookies, casseroles and 4 - 5 course meals! Start collecting some tin cans three to four of equal size, soup or bean cans work great. I would load them up with beans, corn, rice with liquid, even bread pudding or just water( hot water for washing up),or keeping bread moist, place in bottom of stove in corners, put rack on top and add more baking goods on rack, bread, brownies so forth it takes a little effort and planning but it really works! Sometimes if I needed another shelf I also would use the square or small round cake pan on bottom, slide a pan on top of it and on the rack. Yes you'd want to clip with paper fasteners or something. also I would use rocks to stabilize it even on a two three burner stove! If you had a better table top you might be able to prop it up on empty cans too! It's all part of the fun!
Bob, your are pretty awesome...your videos have opened my eyes to a whole new world...I have shown some of the videos to my husband and we are now going to start looking for a high top Sprinter van to do a build and use it for get always whether it be for weekends or week and/or month long trips...your videos have inspired me to want to travel even if it's just in my the State of Michigan where I live...this will enable us to travel in the winter and/or summer. My husband is retired and we are both still young enough to enjoy our life. Before your videos I honestly didn't think it was possible...thank you.
For stability I drilled the bottom corners and put in thin screws with washers. Used screws long enough to reach the counter that made oven high enough for stove to slide under. Use butterfly nuts to remove if you want, but mounted mine permanently. Love the paperclip idea mentioned below to secure shelf. Might take slight modification of shelf tabs. Great oven! I have even baked pineapple upside down cake.
love your way of life. and how nice of a guy you are... I have a 05 Silverado and a 66 USMC TRAILER Vietnam era, 6 foot long by 4 .. I just Moved to Ogden close to so many beautiful natural areas within a short distance.your videos inspire me to see more of America i love the desert and mountains, have to come to the big rv event in Quartsite and meet you some time, maybe share some fishsticks, my mother Ruedelle, a rosie the riviter built b29s raised me on fish sticks too.. you have the absolute best info, and great humor. thank you so much, so far in utah. i only drive 30 miles to the porcupine reservoir on the little bear river, camp no charge stay six days alone , and i love the escape .. im hooked.. its what i love most.. when i lived in Lakewood california.. i had to drive 300 miles to find the kind of camping i love, expensive.. and only a few days escape. Mt. Whitney Lone Pine, on of my favs.. I jus thank god for every moment.. i can just shout out loud.. how happy i am... on 730 a month SS somehow i have to try your lifestyle .. long story but im excited every day like you.. yes its a driving force.. thank you.. thank you.. I've had 3 of these stoves and just got my 4th the other day. Been using them for 15 years in my VW. They're very compact and can stick away anywhere. A baking stone is recommended. I use mine on the stove grill instead of the burner for more even heat. You can use them as a smoker if you want. I make pizzas with naan bread, just add water muffin mix is good. I've baked bread and buns in one. Using it as a heater is a new one for me but I have a buddy heater so no need but I could see the benefit. The only issue is they can be flimsy and without proper care they'll rust out after awhile.
No, no, no. You put the bricks inside the stove. The weigh will stabilized the oven, plus you now have a thermal mass that is perfect for making pizza!!
Bricks would be the solution, inside or outside:) I guess? Maybe even use it as a heat source, if it could be raised off the van floor enough? Nice video though:) Peace
You really are performing a service Bob as I have been researching products for my van. There is nothing worse than the feeling of throwing your money away on useless products or products that you just can't use in certain circumstances. This oven looks like with a little ingenuity it could work out great though I think I would only use it outside. Thanks a lot sir.
One thing my parents did when I was a youngster, was use the propane stove with a clay flower pot over the flame to give us heat when it was cold. So, if anything fell, it most likely would not come in contact with the flame. We would turn the heat off when we went to bed but it worked great to warm up the inside. Also, you can use 4 empty soup cans with the top and bottom cut off as the holders for the racks in the over.
I use to own one, I's take it camping and bake fresh Sour Bread, rolls, and Pie, baked beans,,,drive the camp ground crazy. I would place all the DRY ingredients in a vacuumed sealed bag with the yeast packet so all I had to do was add the water. You can even make you own Cin. Rolls or Sticky Buns, Cakes etc....... 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks Bob! You are changing lives for the better. I hope to see you on the road one day. I plan in one year to become a Nomad. You are the King of the Nomads!
Bob, thank you for this video ! I am about to get started on my build weather permitting. have been scratching my head on a number of things. This video flipped the switch, the old kiss method, all that old Coleman equipment from the hiking & tenting days will be reused. Don't know why I didn't think of it before, but a big thank you !
I have one i use camping and i love it one thing i did is I always use the middle holes for the rack when baking everything and i sealed the rest of the holes with heat tape, as for the rack I know yes it keeps falling down my simple solution was if u push in from the outside so those i call them nipples i just pushed a nail down them and it holds the rack in place just my thought it has been working great for me rack has never dropped down....
By the way. I use large computer fans to direct my heat down to my feet. low power, runs off a usb port ( cigarette lighter USB charger ) and they last for years. I find if my floor is warm I'm warm. I live in Alberta and it gets down to minus 20 in winter.
I used a Coleman oven as a newly wed camper almost 50 years ago. That one got kinda bent up over the years so I got a new one a few years ago. Looks the same, same size but not as sturdy as the original. Still a nice thing to have. And YES, it really works a lot better on the 2 burner! ( I wish i. had pictures of the gorgeous fluffy golden biscuits that came out of the old one! Great review as usual, Bob! 😋
I use that oven extensively and I can say that the thermometer is way off, and also you need a pizza stone in the very bottom to prevent everything from burning.
Steb Nalang I've heard several people recommend a pizza stone! I also heard you can buy a square of natural rock flooring. The stone is probably best.. PS: I saw a few people use two regular size bricks in their Coleman camp oven. .
Bob, put paper clips through the loops of the rack on the outside of the stove and then the rack won't fall. And always turn fish sticks over half way through cooking. Bon appetite
I live in stationary 5th wheel. Afraid of stove and gas lines. All I use is Coleman stove and oven. Makes good meatloaf. Good even cooking for a little holdup oven isn't it? LOVE all your videos. Learned much.
I think insulating the outside and using a wire on each outside tab to hold the rack up would be so much better. I love the oven and will make a insulated cover for it plus hooks for the rack and it will be amazing 😊 thank you for being so brave to show us how great it bakes 😊
We used a similar over when we camped in the '70s when i was a kid. We would use it over a two burner coleman stove. The best baking we did was in a cast iron dutch oven. We could use it on the stove or in the coals of a camp fire. Maybe you could use a small covered cast iron pot on the one burner. We would even make birthday cakes when we camped. Great video. Brought back a lot of memories. -Sue in Michigan
I remember my mom baking in a coelman stove top oven (we lived in a homemade rv type camping trailer) all my growing up years I was born in1938 so they have been around since then - she baked at least every other day - cake one day pie the next also corn bread and biscuits probably used it every day they still look very much the same - just last forever it seems - great buy if you bake at all.
Hi Bob, I have had that oven for a number of years. I found that wrapping the oven with foil helped keep heat in. I wrapped (loosely) the sides and the back. I really did not have many problems with rack falling too much. I have baked bread, rolls and cookies in it. Just got a new one to go with my TAG camper. I can't use it on the stove as there is not enough room but will use it with the extra stove I take with me. (Coleman 2 burner). I did use the oven in our pop up camper some years ago and it worked well in that, but again that was a 3 burner stove. Enjoy!
I had one almost just like when I was camping. I really did love it. I would bake and the smell would draw all kinds of looks and sniffs. It is a great way to make friends. The park ranger would even stop by for goodies. :) You might want to build a little metal rack to set it on to support it over your stove.
I have one for a tiny 24 brick rocket stove using a cast iron gas grill. Works perfect. Thanks Bob...I love your channel and have learned a lot from you and your subscribers.
Bob, I think you might not have assembled your oven properly. There are locking/alignment tabs on both sides of the bottom and top of the oven. When the tabs are engaged properly and the bottom and top latches are turned in place, the oven is pretty rigid. When assembled correctly the rack fits very tightly and mine has never fallen. These ovens aren’t perfect and require a little fiddling to get the temperature right, and the thermometer may be more of an approximation than a true temperature, but oven thermometers are cheap if you don’t trust the door unit. Mine has some hot spots but that’s largely a result of not having the oven centered over the burner. They may not be perfect but they do a pretty darn good job when camping.
It's a shame you don't receive revenue from Gordon's Fish Sticks, because you have just caused 80% of us to crave them! At least 25% of us will buy them when next at the grocer!
We have a large round grill from a bbq that fits on fire rings. So burn wood, and set this on top, perfect. Chicken nuggets here we go! Just got one today at the flea market for 5$, like new. We're tent campers, so we cook outside anyhow. We also have a rectangle flat iron grill, flat on one side, ridges on the other, a must have too. FISH STICKS? Where do you go fishin? River and lake campin is awesome. Rod, reel, and a good filet knife! Fresh filets cooked on iron, bake the taters in the oven.
thank you Bob! you brightened my day.you give me hope.i am currently living in a house but I am facing a electric shut off. I am going to purchase this oven to get me through a couple weeks until I can pay my bill. don't worry I know to use it outside. lol. .
Hi Bob, you probably got the grate upside dow n, that’s why it felt down. Those four tabs are a little bent. Installed the right way, (with the bending angle downward), it’s almost impossible for the grate to fall. I used (and still use) one for years and the grate never felt. It will fit a two burner stove way better indeed. Love your videos. Kind regards from the Netherlands.
Great video 👍 I had similar problems with mine , so I took an old rack/shelf from an old oven & fashioned a stand for the Coleman. That way it sits above my stove & cant go anywhere. Someone mentioned using a pizza stone inside to defuse the heat from The bottom. I've tied it & it works a treat ( got a cheap large one & cut it to size ). to turn your portable gas stove into an oven is a Great idea when out & about. 👌 O
i have a friend who has one of these & has for 20 years. I really want a Camp Chef Stove/Oven combo - I know it's a space hog but to me it would be worth it.
Great video and thought for heating. I didn't read through all the comments, but If you will continue using your propane burner for heat, it is possible to use a ceramic pot upside down over the burner as long as stability is not an issue. This way you are heating a bit of thermal mass.
I have used mine (on top of two burner coleman stove) twice while camping and really liked the results. Baked buiscuits and croissants out of the can and both came out perfect. My oven grate shelf stayed in place no problem.
I love cornbread! Not so sure about fish sticks! Ate lots of those growing up! Like fresh fish, broiled, grilled or breaded in cornmeal, and cooked. I am convinced we will be RVing sometime in the near future! About two years from now. First have to get something we can use. The Lord will provide for us, I have great faith! He got me through my husband passing, me loosing everything I knew my whole life, home, new cars, family dispersed and I was alone. Lost my job 10 months before my husband passed. Rough time for me! My faith brought me through the darkness I went through for about 2 years! Now I am engaged! But he will not get rid of the homestead here in NC. So we will RV for 6 to 9 months a year and be home the rest. I have been blessed the last few years and I thank the Lord for it all. I love to bake so I will have to have an oven! Can't make biscuits and gravy without an oven! Or a homemade, from scratch, german chocolate cake! I am a southern cook! Been here a long time. I have lived in NY where my mom is from, CA where my family moved when I was a teenager, VA where my late husband was from, and now since my junior year in high school, NC! I am learning so much from your videos! Now all I have to do is find the RV and set it up with solar, composting toilet, etc. Take care of yourself and that heart of yours! I will say a prayer for your travels. Bless you for all you do for all the wondering souls you help!
Thank you for your testimony. Having lost my better half, a few months shy of our 50th anniversary, I appreciate the struggle you've gone through. If you read this, have a blessed day.
Bob, if you put on rubber boots and a yellow rain suit...well you know. But that aside I use the single burner stove also. I saw AdventureVanMan used a grill basket(square) upside down and I adopted that idea. Keeps your pan from getting too hot. I make perfect pancakes this way . Enjoy all your videos. thanks
I just purchased a Silver Fire Rocket stove. They demonstrated the Coleman oven with it.. That's what I'm going to do, as well as using the regular camp stove. But the Silver Fire Rocket stove doesn't cost anything for fuel, because it just uses sticks and twigs for fuel..
I built a stove with two alcohol stoves an old bread rack and a cardboard box. used it just before Christmas 2009 in a yurt I built on the side of a mountain in grants pass Oregon. made fresh harvest pot brownies perfectly at approx. 1450 ft. elev. I miss that winter.
Bob; I use a prying pan and make do. Prying cornbread and flower mix with water and make pan cakes so I make do with out ovens... and personally I like pried foods.. ouch, I know it may or may not be healthy... oh well, but I enjoy your videos and hope to continue watching...
the old bake pan you are using looks just like the old pan I have out in my kitchen that I bake biskets in lol. so cool . Love your videos and the cute little oven.
Thanks! I’ve been thinking about getting one of these. I think your main problem was that you need a 2-burner liquid fuel stove for this. Propane just doesn’t kick out as many BTU as white gas and that may be why the temp never went above 380.
I put a tent stove in my rv for the winter. the stovepipe goes out a slide out window and sets up or breaks down in 30 min... wood is free and it only takes a little bit to keep warm in the frigid AZ winters more cost effective compared to propane.... can't bake though only frying pan, and the heater idea is brilliant with good ventilation of course, I had occasionally burned a tiny alcohol stove just to warm up b4 bedtime, enclosed stove is better! thx for the idea.
Great video Bob. I have 2 one I have had for 30 yrs never had a problem with it I bought another because I was fearful they will stop selling them. As you said they been making them for decades. My first stove I had to get heavy metal rods in the sides. My original grate rusted in storage and I'm picky. I don't want to cook in rust. So I got 2 racks and modified it. Now I can cook 2 pans in at once. I barely have used the second oven. It still looks new. But they are worth the price.i have got my $$$ worth out of it. $15.95 for the first one and $29? For the second over. I have cooked everything in it. Just as I would at home.
I love my little Coleman camp oven. We use it a lot ot bake biscuits in camp for biscuits and gravy with eggs breakfasts! A cut to fit pizza stone on the bottom helps a LOT with evening out the heat in the oven, and I am sure your rack dropping issue has to do with lack of support under the bottom of the oven with the single burner stove. These are designed for 2 or 3 burner stoves with a full grate to support the box... Like with everything you do though, I am certain you can find a way to make it work really well... Best of luck to you!
Thank you this helped me, I'm planning on having a two burner on a counter top so I think this is going to be perfect for me and my boys bc they like fish sticks too
Bob don't give up hope on this little stove! Lol I use that same exact stove on a two burner Coleman when I lived in my 1974 Dodge van what an awesome unit I too love to bake and cook so Justified having a little extra stuff make yourself a couple of dog legs sort of like Saul horses for that have been on that single burner and as far as the rack you can tweak the sides and put pins to hold it from coming back in but although you'll like the seven Great show though Bob keep up the great work
I have been using a oven like this for years and it worked great for me but you have to put whatever you cook on top so it doesn't burn underneath and I think you need more space to handle it because it gets very hot you are struggling with space there it's great in the winter because the van gets warm as well. Winnerwell oven is called here in UK.
Since I'm not very handy with tools, I was thinking of maybe sitting a #10 can inside of the oven and sitting the rack on top of that. That way it would still conduct the heat but the rack would not fall down inside. Or if that was too big, finding the right sized can to do the job. Recycle, reuse, re-purpose. And if you filled the can with rocks they would hold heat for a long time to use as a radiant camper heater after the baking was done. Just thinking........
offthehook4u Absolutely! They used to heat up rocks & put them down by your feet on cold nights. .bricks too! I think lava rocks would work great as a heater! Perfect for indoor heat in a small area like a van!
offthehook4u I've got two fire bricks laying in the bottom of mine. I use them to direct the heat around the oven, instead of it going straight up the centre, they are also act as thermal mass.
Get a 7.5 inch pizza stone and place I on the bottom for better temp control and even baking. The thermometer on the stove is probably wrong so you may want to but a meat thermometer and stick the probe in at the level of food. Thanks for the video, I remember dealing with the same issues.
Bob, just put a pizza stone on that rack, and your baking pan on top of it. The pizza stone absorbs the heat and evens it out in the oven. Amazon has them pretty cheap. Might also want to get a pizza peel, to remove hot pans without wearing a mitt!
So did you come up with a solution for the oven sitting on a one burner stove? I was able to cook in it but am not satisfied with the narrow area at the front bottom where my butane stove sits on the oven itself. Surely not wide enough. But it worked and I'm careful. The temp. worked great. I made cranberry muffins. Tomorrow if it's not too cold I'm going to take my Mom for a ride up on the Blue Ridge Parkway and stop at a fav spot and make us coffee and bake cinnamon rolls for her. She's 90 years old and still loves getting out in nature. So I saw this stove idea at a perfect time. Thanks so much Bob for ALL you do. Blessings, Teri
I got mine a wek or so ago. .Ive made beefy cheesey nachoes ,first. Then tried corn bread, which i left in a lil too long . I had purchased a cast iron lid inside on the bottom And loosely covered the top and both sides with sheets of aluminum foil.
Bob, you may want to seek a non stick pan that will fit inside that oven, also looking at your shelves in the van, why not make a small table top on hinges that you can raise to hold the oven for inside future cooks. But sure would be a great tool for corn bread muffins, breads, when you have them cooler nights. also make a sort of hanger that you can hook the shelf from the outside and grab on to the upper holes it has ,The hanger idea is great for the material part. wish this had a way to draw and post, what I'm trying to say.....lol. Well, The NE is waiting for ya, safe travels.
Love this... I have to leave my toaster Oven at home because of room. This will allow me to make my corn bread. And I have the 2 burner Coleman stove...
For heating the van an 8" X 8" scrap of armor plate or a terracotta "saucer"or tile from a builders' supply would radiate warmth as well and not be so bulky one might get a burnt. Pop up campers often use an 8 in. terracotta clay pot for the same purpose. Nice warm glow in the darkness. (Popups are drafty so using one all night was not a concern. Never had a carbon monoxide detector alarm.)
I have the same oven so far I have made corn bread and pineapple upside down cake in mine. I uploaded a video about doing it yesterday. I have had no problems with the rack it is fine as is. A tip take the wind guard and rack off your two burner stove and set the oven on the frame of the stove it works better. I have the two burner dual fuel Coleman.
I seriously considered the Coleman when I set up my van, but decided that, as I have plentiful solar, I would buy a 12v lunch box oven instead. While it only reaches 300F, I can still safely cook meals from scratch, reheat food and bake cakes. It just takes a little longer. :)
I love mine . so compact but worth it for the little space. Make biscuits in mine, you might consider 4 bolts one in each corner as legs to stabilize it
Hi Bob. I would think you could just cook those fish sticks in a closed covered skillet on your single burner. Same with corn bread. If you think about it, the Coleman oven is just a like a skillet with the lid on keeping in the heat. I have had troubles using my single burner coleman outside in the wind. So it need a wind block like the bigger two burner coleman stoves have
Thanks for the review Bob. I remember on another video you commented on being diagnosed with A-Fib. I was diagnosed with A-Fib as well, but as it turns out it was merely a sensitivity to msg. This is a common thing and many foods are saturated with msg, as is the Gorton's Fish sticks you are eating in this video. I would consider using foods that are msg-free. This will GREATLY minimize your A-Fib episodes without medication. (I am an RN.) By the way, I am a nomad-wannabe and am making plans to get on the road sometime in the near future. I look forward to meeting you sometime.
I have had the Coleman oven for 4 years and it works great. If you turn the fish or whatever you are cooking half way through the cooking time it will cook evenly.
Several people have mentioned using bricks to stabilize the oven. Bricks inside also help keep the heat more even. I've baked lasagna, whole chicken, cookies and sweet rolls in mine, using a Silverfire rocket stove. As I'm burning wood in the rocket stove, I get a bit of smoke in the oven, but that should not be a problem if used with any kind of gas burner.
That's a really cute little oven. I guess it's too trickety for the inside of the van, but if you had a stable table with a big ceramic tile underneath....then it would be ok. Maybe there is a way you could have a small crockpot in the van and you could make chillie or a soup and it would give off heat. Those fish sticks looked good!
My experience with this product is will not hold heat even with a 2-Burner in windy conditions. It does work without wind. I have baked cookies with just aluminum foil on a pot belly stove. And if all you had was a barbecue you could use that on it as well and turn it into an oven. Heck I finished some brownies in a gas BBQ when lightning storm took power out and I was cooking them one time! Was eating hot brownies and watching a lightning storm with ice cream of course because the power was out and I didn't want ice cream to go bad. Lol RV dwellers in hot climates could use it for outdoor kitchen accessory.
I don't have air conditioning in my Michigan home, so in the summer I don't want to run my oven, so I use my grill charcoal, small round for everything, even as an oven, I just close the holes for baking and use a pan
Glad to see how this works, thanks. My class C doesn't have an oven so I've been wondering about getting one of these. I could use it on top of the stove maybe? I also have a two burner Coleman to use outside. 👍
Oh, the days of fish sticks. I used to love them also, but now with food allergies I can no longer partake. They looked super yummy though, especially with some rice and greens for a full meal.
CheapRVliving I use mine over a campfire, but like most campfire cooking, you don't cook over the flame. It's too hot. Get a nice bed of coals that will last as long as your dish needs to be cooked. You definitely need a regular oven thermometer. The one in the door is worthless. My rack stays in fine. I found the trick is putting the rack in as you are securing the side tabs. If you didn't, perhaps you stretched the side outward.
I have a vintage one and I use it all the time on my butane cooktop and yeah, it can be a bit wobbly but I found a copper Heat Diffuser by BellaCopper through The Grommet to set on it and now the stove is stable. I have no issues with the rack falling, but probably because it is older and higher quality.
Put a brick or two on each side of the stove to stabilize. Many uses/reasons to carry a few bricks.
Bricks are a good idea
Excellent suggestion!
Under the oven on the sides, as necessary & available, to shore up any flip-flopping over camp stove.
No, no, no. You put the bricks inside the stove. The weigh will stabilized the oven, plus you now have a thermal mass that is perfect for making pizza!!
Bricks would be the solution, inside or outside:) I guess? Maybe even use it as a heat source, if it could be raised off the van floor enough? Nice video though:)
Peace

Ohhh that's a great tip! That's exactly what I was wondering, because having to take all the ingredients with you and mixing can be a mess! Thank you!
Thanks Bob! You are changing lives for the better. I hope to see you on the road one day. I plan in one year to become a Nomad. You are the King of the Nomads!
Larry Gallentine,
On Star Trek, Nomad didn't do so well!
Awesome I'm a canadian girl going on the road soon. thanks for all your help with these videos
Such a simple solution...but the best ones usually are simple. :)
By the way.
I use large computer fans to direct my heat down to my feet.
low power, runs off a usb port ( cigarette lighter USB charger )
and they last for years.
Thanks for sharing yes the concensus seems to agree about the thermometer.
Steb Nalang
I've heard several people recommend a pizza stone! I also heard you can buy a square of natural rock flooring. The stone is probably best..
PS: I saw a few people use two regular size bricks in their Coleman camp oven. .
cookiemama4 can confirm fire bricks work well.
Bob, put paper clips through the loops of the rack on the outside of the stove and then the rack won't fall. And always turn fish sticks over half way through cooking. Bon appetite
Ah, paperclips! Thanks Kathy.
Kathy Federico
My thoughts exactly. Great idea
Kathy Federico yes using a spatula
...or get 4 small "hitch pins" -- something like these:

...easy attaching & removal.

Kathy, that is what I was thinking. Glad I read through the comments before leaving the same idea.
If you ever feel lonley, bake a can of poppen' fresh cinnamon rolls in that oven. Neighbors will float over like scooby doo for a scooby snack!
Cooking anything with Cinnamon will have em coming from miles around;)
Yea cinnamon rolls would be the ticket on a cool or cold night top notch idea on that
LavenderDebs nothing says lovin like pislbury
Ha! Scooby doo for a scooby snack...I can just see that.
LOL
I live in stationary 5th wheel. Afraid of stove and gas lines. All I use is Coleman stove and oven. Makes good meatloaf. Good even cooking for a little holdup oven isn't it? LOVE all your videos. Learned much.
I've had one of these Coleman's since 2009. Works Awesome!!! Safe travels Bob!!! 😊
Thanks for watching Kimmi, do you use yours on a 2 burner stove?
Enjoy!
Wow, I want fish sticks with Mac and cheese for lunch now. yum childhood comfort food. Oh, and that oven demo was great, that oven looks good too
When I was little, we had Mac & Cheese with Fish Sticks every Friday for dinner.
moxiebbwnc did this happen to occur in the 70s? It did for me growing up! Ahhh to go back to simpler days!
the late 60's and early 70's :) Mrs. Paul's fish sticks and homemade mac & cheese. When in a ruse we got Kraft Mac&Cheese
Luv ya Bob. You are the BEST !! Pizza stones can help to evenly distribute the heat when baking and help to retain radiant heat in the winter.
It's a shame you don't receive revenue from Gordon's Fish Sticks, because you have just caused 80% of us to crave them! At least 25% of us will buy them when next at the grocer!
RonRay Lol So True- I'm hungry now.
I'm going to!
Me too! Haha... I thought of Pavlov's dog.. Me!
I'm in! haha
I was craving them yesterday - it's like Bob was reading my mind....lol
I am going to purchase this oven to get me through a couple weeks until I can pay my bill. don't worry I know to use it outside. lol. .
Have fun with it molly!
Someone mentioned using a pizza stone inside to defuse the heat from
The bottom. I've tied it & it works a treat ( got a cheap large one & cut it to size ). to turn your portable gas stove into an oven is a
Great idea when out & about. 👌
O
i have a friend who has one of these & has for 20 years.
The Good the Bad and the Ugly. That is what the world needs. Excellent review!
I used this as kid to bake biscuits even going down the road while my parents were driving! Made for my dad, mom,&brothers & Sisters👍🙏⭐️☝️
your coat hanger idea is great.
I have one also.
I use a coat hanger hooked to the ceiling to make sure it can't fall.
camp stove/oven run on propane available on Amazon for $175...I got one and they are AWESOME!!
If you read this, have a blessed day.
it looks like a little bank safe!
Thanks for watching!
they looked really good and sounded very crunchy. good little oven. another great review. thanks for sharing. Joyce
Thanks for watching Joyce
I always add a bit of olive oil to the bottom of the pan to prevent sticking. I just enjoyed some flounder filets that way. thanks for the review!
I have one of these. They're pretty great.
Thanks for the feedback Joseph
Bob you cover every topic 👍 This one really made me smile!
3:30-6:30 for those wanting tip save time!
Thank you this helped me, I'm planning on having a two burner on a counter top so I think this is going to be perfect for me and my boys bc they like fish sticks too
I very much like the fact that you do as it happens viewing. Any mistakes or mishaps happens as it would. Great video. Thankyou.
Bob don't give up hope on this little stove! Lol I use that same exact stove on a two burner Coleman when I lived in my 1974 Dodge van what an awesome unit I too love to bake and cook so Justified having a little extra stuff make yourself a couple of dog legs sort of like Saul horses for that have been on that single burner and as far as the rack you can tweak the sides and put pins to hold it from coming back in but although you'll like the seven Great show though Bob keep up the great work
Guy definitely likes his brownies. He even distracted himself just by saying the word brownies. Love it thanks for the vid. cheers 🍻
Good thinking offthehook4u...
offthehook4u
Absolutely!
What an excellent, helpful, and smart review. Thanks for doing it.
Get a 7.5 inch pizza stone and place I on the bottom for better temp control and even baking. The thermometer on the stove is probably wrong so you may want to but a meat thermometer and stick the probe in at the level of food. Thanks for the video, I remember dealing with the same issues.
Thank you for the feedback Feedthelibeftytree!
Bob, just put a pizza stone on that rack, and your baking pan on top of it. The pizza stone absorbs the heat and evens it out in the oven. Amazon has them pretty cheap. Might also want to get a pizza peel, to remove hot pans without wearing a mitt!
Brings back memories! I used to love the Van de Kamp's fish fillets with the tartar sauce and malt vinegar. One of my favorites when I was a kid!
Good ideas Jim, thanks!
I sewed a piece of welders blanket for mine and it really work to keep the heat in.
Welcome to Oregon from Troutdale (east portland), enjoy our (few) nice days right now.
Hi Bob, thanks for video. Try Mexican cornbread, YUM, and spicy taste goes great with beans and rice. Maybe add a sliced smoked sausage to the mix.
Thanks for the feedback BaconNBeer.
Thanks for the review. I'm going to buy this. I miss baking.
Wow, great detailed video, just what I was looking for to help me make a decision.
yes fish stick tacos for dinner, thanks Bob, great review, great little oven.
I seriously considered the Coleman when I set up my van, but decided that, as I have plentiful solar, I would buy a 12v lunch box oven instead.
While it only reaches 300F, I can still safely cook meals from scratch, reheat food and bake cakes. It just takes a little longer. :)
I love my road trek oven, if only it heated me as well. :)
Great review. I don't even like fish sticks, but those looked good!
Hello Bob! Great video and now craving fish sticks and have none.Have put fish sticks on my shopping list.
I love mine . so compact but worth it for the little space. Make biscuits in mine, you might consider 4 bolts one in each corner as legs to stabilize it
Thanks for the suggestion iva.
Hi Bob. I would think you could just cook those fish sticks in a closed covered skillet on your single burner. Same with corn bread.
If you think about it, the Coleman oven is just a like a skillet with the lid on keeping in the heat.
I have had troubles using my single burner coleman outside in the wind. So it need a wind block like the bigger two burner coleman stoves have
It's "Cooking with Bob"!
Lol
RV dwellers in hot climates could use it for outdoor kitchen accessory.
I have fried the fish sticks over a wood fire with just a bit of bacon grease and they were great, and you could do them on the burner also.
Great safety practices! My hat comes off for you!
I don't have air conditioning in my Michigan home, so in the summer I don't want to run my oven, so I use my grill charcoal, small round for everything, even as an oven, I just close the holes for baking and use a pan
Finally, someone that didn't bake biscuits! Thanks!
Glad to see how this works, thanks. My class C doesn't have an oven so I've been wondering about getting one of these. I could use it on top of the stove maybe? I also have a two burner Coleman to use outside. 👍
I remember that as a kid in the boyscouts. We would bake Pillsbury biscuits and french bread pizzas!
Another fine video. Great information as always - love the idea of having a small oven.
Oh, the days of fish sticks. I used to love them also, but now with food allergies I can no longer partake. They looked super yummy though, especially with some rice and greens for a full meal.
I bought one of those things 50 plus years ago. Used it once. Still have it. Might be good over a camp fire.
I'm not sure the metal would withstand direct flame, maybe on a rack over the fire?
