Hey John I remember buying this album when it first came out in 77. We have come a long way since the long playing vinyl record 🤣🤣 It was and is a fantastic album. Thanks for this John.. Stirred some great memories of times gone by.. Best wishes from France
Oh Daddy is about Mick Fleetwood daughters, and how he wasn’t really there for them in their early years, he was there, but not really present in their upbringing day to day due to his drug use
Not being political, but Bill Clinton picked Don't Stop as his 92 campaign theme and Fleetwood Mac played it at his inaugural ball. The song adding to the fact he was known as "the Comeback Kid" make it kismet
If you like progressive music and Fleetwood Mac, the album Tusk (the follow up to Rumours) is great. Lindsey was *insane* in it! He was inspired by the post-punk movement and Talking Heads. It’s a truly underrated album. Stevie and Christine have amazing tracks, too. The only downfall is that it sounds like three different albums combined. But when you think about it - and them at the time - it works!
I cuffed high school the day the "Rumors" album was released in 1977 and stood in line outside Woolworth's department store for hours to get my copy, still got it and still play it often!
Now you know why it's sold so many copies. There are lots of popular/famous albums that just don't stand the test of time. This one does and always will simply because the songs are all brilliantly written, performed, and produced. One of the most solid collection of tunes you will ever find on an album. Many other great songs in the Fleetwood Mac canon.
Jon bro, I always enjoy your reactions and how you love music. I really am loving this one! Much love. This album dropped days before I turned 12 and was a huge part of me growing up. I'm appreciating the album more than ever right now. Thanks so much!
Need to watch them live, especially the 1982 live version of The Chain. Buckingham on guitar at the end , in fact the whole band goes off You may want to react to the live concert, The Dance, so many more songs and Lindsey Buckingham is one of the greatest guitarists of all time
Oh Daddy was written by Christine about Mick Fleetwood. He was the only father in the band at the time. She respected him, loved him, and always looked up to his leadership. But he still had some issues at the time. Mick has said that this is his favorites song of Christine’s. B/c she said it’s about him that comes across egotistical but I truly believe he is right. I LOVE that song.
If the big emotions on a lot of PF and Genesis is 100% (for me), every track on here is 99%. What consistency! In UK we had a motor programme called Top Gear. The theme tune was that distinctive riff from Chains.
Gold Dust Woman is about Stevie’s cocaine addiction. Gold dust was slang for cocaine and “did it make you cry. Make you break down? Shatter your illusions of love?” It’s her take on how cocaine was starting to take over her life and become an issue
Wow there’s a live version of The Chain from like ‘82 where there are these LOOKS between Stevie and Lindsay…COMBUSTION to the nth degree, it is almost too intense and personal between them to behold, especially on Stevie’s part whew!
Seminal album. Lindsey and Stevie breaking up is what the album is about. Tons of cocaine being used during the sessions too. Still, it’s an amazing album. Lindsey can play his ass off and he plays fingerstyle. I saw them in 96’ and they were fire.
I think Mac fans here on YT are thirsty for something other or more than "Rumours" (spelled with a 'u'). But how long will we have to wait before you return to them?
One of the best selling albums of all time - what a bunch of hits! The guitar part on Never Going Back Again is played by only one person btw!
AND an album full of diss tracks where the people being dissed were performing on the track!!
Oh Daddy was written about Mick Fleetwood, the only father in the band. This was confirmed by both Christine and Mick.

Dude, Christine Sings Co-Lead on Don't Stop. She sings lead in the second verse. Their voices are quite similar,
Best thing about the 70's?
The music!

Next up? Fleetwood Mac...Fleetwood Mac. Their first one and very good as well. My sec fav. Cheers
For me, it's You Make Lovin' Fun. Whenever Chrstine, Stevie, and Lindsey harmonize, it's like the angels are coming down to lay a track on the record.

Fans who bought the "Go Your Own Way" 45 single got an extra song on the flip-side: Stevie's "Silver Springs".
Oh this album is timeless. I don't know anyone who hasn't owned it in some format. It never gets old & there's not a bad song on it.
this album is a Masterpiece...
The howling at the end was Lindsey.

One of my favorite albums!

Mr Slop - his "live" version of "Big Love" will blow your mind !

The yappin is insane
Great video after the first 14 mins
Gold Dust Woman: Stevie wrote about herself and her coccaine habit.

Reaction starts at 14 minutes.
People think Taylor Swift is "bold" for her song trashing her exes...
Fleetwood Mac had those exes SINGING AND PLAYING ON THE DISS TRACK

This is the most unnecessarily tedious UA-cam reaction ever done.
