xevangz Nexus 6 should get close to that. It outperforms the Idol 3's display & speakers. Outperforms the Moto G's camera and Zenfone's spec's. It also outperforms all three of them in price like a champ! XDDD
Its water resistant only when the back is on? if you dropped it into a puddle, the drop would most likely pop the back straight off and water would enter the phone.
Austin Evans i droped my 2nd gen moto g like 4/5 times now and it has never come off so i gues you are right. Also better screen than samsung that breaks 1st drop
Obi-Wan Kannabis Well all 3 phones are in the $200-$250 price bracket. If the question was Is a phone over $200 worth it. the iPhone 6 is over $200 The HTC one m9 is over $200. Re-watch the vid and re-read ur comment before creating a strong statement please.
Well I just got the LG g2 for $210 , and I'd say it's a huge steal for the money. 1080p 5.2" and still smaller/thiner than the moto g, and it has a 2.28 GHz cpu. Also great ois 13mp camera. Oh and a 3000 mah battery. Only downside is not as frequent updates. Check the specs urself :D
Jeffrey Zhu Good catch, why people think the new Moto G is good value is kind of beyond me. I actually think it's a little overpriced! You can get a Galaxy S4 or an original Moto X for substantially CHEAPER than even the 1GB variant of the Moto G. Both phones have better overall specs so for me it's a no brainer. LG G2 is awesome for the price too, no doubt about that! All these phones kill the Moto G at this price.
Man Austin, your videos keep getting stepped up every video and the way you present is awesome. I remember finding you because of the worst laptops and phones videos. I also like how you don't just say "this phone is good blah blah blah". You present it in a snappy but solid way that is perfect. I also like how you do each test, bringing out some good in each product! Nice Video, looking forward to the next!
The best Smartphones are the ones lower than 200 euros/dolla. Easy and cheaper to repair and you can get several for the price of a flagship phone. Happy with my Windows Phones so far. I do not really care about apps too.
Austin Evans video made my day, I've been waiting on a video as derailed as this for weeks and you finally delivered it. Your work is excellent, keep it up man.
I like my LG Optimus L90 phone, it normally costs ~$180 but I only had to pay a little under $50 for mine since it was on sale. The camera is the definite weak spot, only sporting a 5 MP camera with less than stellar low-light performance, but it makes up for it by being pretty fast, having the latest Android, impressive battery life, and a removable back.
Great review Austin. I switched from a 6 plus to the ZenFone 2 and I'm very happy. I could not justify the price of the iphone. I think the asus apps are a little annoying but you can delete or disable most of them and the camera takes really good pictures for most users. I have gotten compliments on many. The performance is great. No crashes so far. I have not tried any of the others but I have recommended the Asus to many friends.
I've been using the Zenfone for a bout a month now, but what got me even more than the version you're showing was the high-end one. It should be available in the US and/or Canada at around $300, and it features a faster CPU (which is just overkill), more internal storage (in addition to the SD card slot) and an incredible 4GB of RAM. The bloatware does not bother me as much as other people, and with the 32GB of internal storage and aforementioned RAM it's really more an issue of your app menu being more crowded than I'd like to. However, Cyanogen Mod is now available fr ZF2 apparently, so if you're a die-hard, bone-stock Android user, there you go. The "premium" version also comes with a quick charger that fills up the large battery (that gets drained quicker than I expected from 3000mAh) in 90 minutes. I'd expect it to last much longer with Cyanogen Mod, because I suspect ZenUI to cause the drain. I'll probably be using the phone for three years or so, because I'm not much of a power user, and since it's an x86 phone and quite popular, someone may have figured out how to install a desktop OS on the thing, and then you could use it like a small tablet or even laptop.
Been using my Zenfone 2 ZE551ML (4GB RAM, 2.3 gHz Atom 3580) for a full year now, I'm giving it to my dad and getting an HTC One M10. In hindsight, I probably should've gotten the Idol 3, but it was a good phone for the most part.
Great Video Austin. Its SHORT CONCISE TO-THE-POINT without the FLUFF. I love it, You get to the point right away, and end the point nice and short. Great Job, your best video YET!
loved the ASUS and IDOL mention. most people do bother to shop for phone within or out of market. I"m a advid buyer of non service provider phones and thought this was a lot easier than my 6 month shopping experiences.
Amazingly I still limp around with an iPhone 4, I got it for free after a friend upgraded from 4 to 5C, so it was not bad then. However it seems to have been bogged down and going downhill quickly. Obviously as someone who only had a smartphone as it was GIVEN to him, flagship phones are out of the question. But looking at the Idol makes me consider the possible upgrade, after all, you can only look at chrome failing to load a page so many times before you want to throw it against a wall and say you're ready to take another bite out of apple.
Zenphone takes my vote I was kinda stuck between the idol 3 and the zenphone but when I saw that graphical performance graph that was when the zenphone won I pick performance over screen and camera plus the zenphone comes with unlocked bootloader so that's a even bigger plus
Austin Evans Great video as always! But in my opinion you should've included the oneplus one. It has top specs that can still easily hold up with the flagship phones today (thanks to the smooth software) and since the oneplus two's release, the oneplus one's price has dropped significantly. Currently, the oneplus one comes at a pretty great price at about 220 USD.
My friend bought the Zenfone 2 yesterday and I personnaly own the Alcatel Idol X+. Nothing to complain about those phones, they do the job perfectly. It's incredible how these low-end phones became such a good deal over the years (far, FAR away from the shitty Galaxy Ace or the HTC Wildfire).
Excellent short analysis. Austin Evans With the increasing number of affordable phones being released, in your opinion do you think the major manufacturers will either tone down the specs or just decrease the price points of flagship device's.
You should do a review on the Zenfone 6. I bought it and it's way better than the Zenfone 2. It got rid of the power button on top and it has a better camera. Only downside is that if you want it in the US you have to get it shipped from overseas.
Did you just hit 1 mil subs +Austin Evans? If so, congrats!

Given the choice I'd go with the Moto G. I have a 2014 G and I love it and the 2015 G seems like a good phone to me. Its not dramatically different from the 2014 version and definitely not worth the upgrade from the last years version but I don't think Motorola was intending for that. I think Motorola wants people to buy a Moto G and when it comes time to upgrade they go for maybe a Moto X, so I think updates to the G model will be aimed more at keeping it competitive and adding features that were seen in flagship a year or two ago and have now come down in price. Another thing I also really like about Motorola phones on general is the software. Sure, they aren't the only ones using near stock Android, but I think that they are the ones closest to it, and they have been pretty good when it comes to upgrading their phones (even the Moto G line-up) to newer versions of Android, which is something that I think doesn't get enough appreciation even though it is incredibly important for the actual user experience.
I would thumb down. Bigger and especially THINNER is not positive aspect. Much more important is "what happens if it falls down". How long will battery last etc.
Here in Feb. 2019, for under $250 you can get: -LG V30 (a 2017 flagship, top 3 best phone cameras!) Or... -LG V20 (Only $150 NEW in box on ebay!) -Pocophone F1 (known for the past 18 months as the best budget/midrange phone, period!) -Google Pixel 2 (older flagship, still one of the best cameras ever on a phone!) Older flagships are the way to go IMO, just don't buy refurbished!! 👍👍👍
Ex-flagships are nice too. I got a samsung galaxy s5, and it's one of the few phones with USB 3.0 :). The swiping fingerprint scanner is not that bothersome at all, and I actually use the heart rate monitor because it's faster than the gym equipment. And, of course, water resistance. I have a PC for doing the heavy lifting, so my smartphone doesn't have to pack the latest Snapdragons... but I do like removable batteries and a phone I can take apart myself.
Just get the Nexus 5, sure it's a bit outdated, and no longer gets updates, but a quick flash of cyanogen mod fixes that! You can pick one up now for only £93!
Abubaker Alzuaree or until the oneplus one just dies on you for no reason and the company doesn't care about it and also just dicks about helping so first my phone stopped noticing the sim card then said it only had 16gb of storage (mine is the 64gb) then a 2 cores just died on me and then it rebooted and hard bricked it's self I never rooted or did anything to it 100% stock so yeah oneplus are useless and I have moved on to a note 4 and it's better In every way
And how about the last year flagship killer OnePlus One you can get it without a invite and the 16gb Version cost in Germany around 249€ i think in thr US too.
You should try Xiaomi Mi4 sometime, it is one of THE best phone in the budget phone category. This review too is being tried from the same phone. Anyway, an amazing video mate. Keep up the good work. Cheers.
Got my HTC 626G+ for 250 Octa-core processor 2gb ram 8gb memory 5,5" 1080p screen 13 and 5 megapixels cameras Its pretty good and the only bad thing is the speaker...
Hey Austin, i was wondering if you were interested in doing a "PC upgrade" series, where you take previously built PC's and get them the next grade of hardware. Would be pretty cool in my opinion. :)
I'm using an HTC desire 310 bought 2015 and it works perfectly. The most of the games works on high graphics but the problem is that I can't move apps into the SD card and I can't install many things and actually it was less money that these but I can't say how many costs because I'm Bulgarian and I don't know how many dollars are 120 leva but at least I know $250 are more than 120 leva so you don't need a phone that costs $250 but if you are recording videos for UA-cam you will probably need 720p resolution that desire 310 don't have
I bought the Zenfone 2 because of this video back in 2015. Mostly because it looked like the best option for your money. The fast Wi-Fi, 1080p, and fast processor was hard to pass up. But aftering using it for about a year, holy shit was that thing a nightmare. The specs might have been good, but you can tell that's what used up the entire budget of the phone. The build quality was trash. The extremely plastic and light design made the phone super fragile. The backplate would constantly pop off and come loose during regular use. Not only that but something came loose and would rattle inside the phone. To rub salt in the wound, the headphone jack broke too. The god awful build quality affected the software experience too. At first the phone was snappy. But that was short lived. I was plagued with crashes. Nearly all apps woukd crash after about 10 to 15 minutes of use. I literally had to plan my app usage on a 10-15 minute basis to compensate for the crashes. Anyways fuck this trash phone. I have a s8 now, and I enjoyed smashing the fuck out that Asus phone. And then I threw the remaining pieces into a bon fire. Should've got the Moto G.
Austin Evans Great video and i look forward to you making many more. With many people these days money can be an issue and i think it would be a cool video doing Gaming Pc build with second hand parts, let me know what you think of the idea
Could you cover the grey area that is gaming laptops under a budget? Laptops are ideal for college students but they also want to play a few games as well with decent quality and fps and there isn't too much out there at the moment as every video has different suggestions and I don't want to buy something that doesn't live up to expectation. So could you create a video addressing this? Anyway great video! Gained a sub!
I think you should try the Lenovo K3 Note. I bought it for my sister and she is very happy. Tried it myself it is fast, powerful, and has a great camera for the price, also a great screen.
I was between the Moto G and the Zenfone2, came here for answers but left with more questions, now there's yet another good choice in the equation. My biggest concern is support, can I expect timely updates from Alcatel/Asus?
I have a LG G2, for being a few years old, it's still seems right up there with the best. I think it's highly underrated. However, it is a flagship phone, and I think it's still goes for over $400. Correct me if I'm wrong, I haven't checked in awhile. I got it "free" with contract renewal.
I'd like to get a Moto G and I know it has a pretty good camera and everything else but is it worth spending an extra $200 to buy an LG G3 instead (better specs and really really good camera)?? Photography is one of the main things I'm going to be using the phone for.
How do they compare to old Samsung phones for great screen quality, the Samsung Note 2 3 and 4 or great options, as well as Samsung's budget lineup if you're not willing to buy used. Also the Note 4 might not have the greatest person to Performance but it is capable of emulating Nintendo DS and I believe it has 1440p screen.
Idol 3's speakers and display + Moto G camera and stock like android + Zenfone specs = Perfection
= Oneplus One
Barish K eh? downfacing speakers..
xevangz And Moto G design.
And the OPO doesn't have an SD card
xevangz Nexus 6 should get close to that. It outperforms the Idol 3's display & speakers. Outperforms the Moto G's camera and Zenfone's spec's.
It also outperforms all three of them in price like a champ! XDDD
You give the BEST reviews by far all the necessary info without all the useless yammering
Deo Heerai MKBHD is way better than him. You should check him out.
Deo Heerai WTF is yammering
Deo Heerai Android Authority, MKHBD, Linus, and Austin are the only reviewers I like to see mobile reviews from.
+hussein hussein Check out Michael Fisher from Pocket Now
Bic Han what about him just another nerd I prefer the Hispanic guy from pocket now or that chick with the fat hands

+The_Quesadillö Oh thanks
Nice!
what about the price drop from the Oneplus One?
$250!
Temps that's true, however one plus stated that the one plus will go out of stock forever within the next 3-4 months.
liam Ben Avi Lol no it has way better specs.
Mirza Ehsan The Atom beats the 801 by a slight edge.
Temps I got a sony experia z1 compact for *under* 200 euros
J Frap Btw Sony Xperia Z anything are shit.
Its water resistant only when the back is on? if you dropped it into a puddle, the drop would most likely pop the back straight off and water would enter the phone.
My Names Tommy The back is pretty durable, you'd have to drop it HARD or be really unlucky.
Austin Evans i droped my 2nd gen moto g like 4/5 times now and it has never come off so i gues you are right. Also better screen than samsung that breaks 1st drop
darthsonic2 no, that doesn't even make sense.
stop it you inbred.
My Names Tommy ive dropped my moto g multiple time the back is on there really good
I have a Moto X 2nd gen and its indestructible
Alcatel done a excellent job on the Onetouch Idol 3. Hopefully they make the One touch idol 4 next year with a better processor and USB type C.
+Shellyman 4K™ why type c...?
***** Because USB Type C will become a standard for next year phones...
Shellyman 4K™ but no fast charging :(
***** Look at the new Nexuses smartphones with USB C and fast charging.
Shellyman 4K™ oh right forgot about those phones
but those phones are expensive :(
Wow, I can see how much work was put into this video! Awesome content as usual!
I'm sorry what? "Is a 250$ phone worth it?"
The appropriate question should be: Is a phone over 200 $ actually worth it.
Obi-Wan Kannabis Well all 3 phones are in the $200-$250 price bracket. If the question was Is a phone over $200 worth it. the iPhone 6 is over $200 The HTC one m9 is over $200. Re-watch the vid and re-read ur comment before creating a strong statement please.
jesse ding Hold it right there... You want to tell us an iPhone 6 is worth it?... re-read ur comment before creating a strong statement please.
jesse ding I think his point is that he believes high end phones are not worth it. I day, as long as it gets Android updates, it's worth
jesse ding obi wan wants to say that people shouldnt really spend a lot of money on phones
jesse ding I think you misunderstand his comment, it wasn't criticism of the video.
Can you do a $200 gaming PC build?
A good graphics card alone costs $100-$200. I don't think that's achievable
Save your money, $200 isn't much to work with
Alain Renteria with used hardware it's possible, but it needs more effort
Alain Renteria you can make one with used parts but that's the risk
***** He can't even do a good $4000 build. He is shit at building PC's and gives misleading info

OR you can buy last years flagships.... Seriously, if people ask me what phone to buy for 200 dollars, I would point them to Lg G2.
***** lg g2 still best smartphone for the budget , enough to satisfy us to use apps.
I have a galaxy s4, runs amazingly. Better than my mums 6s.
Solid review and comparison of 3 phones in just over 5 minutes?
Dude! Excellent video!
*watching this on the Moto G
BTW absolutely loving the phone
+Ben does Gamez which one also I'm using a moto g
same its a great phone
***** yeah with some minor issues
yeah, the vibrate is really weak, mine is 8gb so i had to get a sd card as well. The vibrate is better with the g4 my sister has it

I've been using the Zenfone for a bout a month now, but what got me even more than the version you're showing was the high-end one. Please stop using the RX100 as a main Camera...it often just looks cheap.
You nailed it Austin!
Awesome comparison!
Congrats on 1 million Austin!
Austin, you totally forgot the oneplus one. Its exactly 250, and it is clearly the better phone from this group...
Great Video Austin. Its SHORT CONCISE TO-THE-POINT without the FLUFF. I love it, You get to the point right away, and end the point nice and short. Great Job, your best video YET!

I got the ZenFone 2 last month and I really like it.
The speakers suck, but so do all smartphone speakers. I have no issues with the lock button.
Hey austin your vids are awesome and your my favorite youtuber!
One of the best videos you have ever made!!!
thank you Austin for that good work . great job

I like budget stuff, but I'm still using my Moto X 2014. wondering if I should go for the Moto X style or wait for the oneplus two
I like the background music.
Good video again, Austin!
yeah I've been using my Alcatel one touch idol 3 for more than a year now, bearly noticing it slowing down, great phone
Great and informative video. I have been loving my Nexus 5X which is about the same price point.

Nice video, Austin! Looking for a budget phone myself so this will help me out.
Just ordered a Moto G 3rd Gen today. I can't wait to try it out :D
Austin's worth it video for the Moto G 2nd Gen was the reason I bought my Moto G. I love my phone.
This is exactly the review what I wanted! Thankyouthankyouthankyou!
The only $250 smartphone worth the money is the OnePlus One
Abubaker Alzuaree Until you can no longer get it forever in the coming months

its in Stock again
I almost cried because I couldn't get it. its the best budget phone in the world
Jacob Wallace yeah I know but it was all stock and the day before it said it had 64gb and then the next day only 16gb and that is just stupid
And how about the last year flagship killer OnePlus One you can get it without a invite and the 16gb Version cost in Germany around 249€ i think in thr US too.
I recently received my Lenovo K3 Note and I have to say it's an awesome, very cheap phone. I highly recommend you'd made a review about it.
Excellent video mate. Liked and subscribed.
You should try Xiaomi Mi4 sometime, it is one of THE best phone in the budget phone category. This review too is being tried from the same phone. Anyway, an amazing video mate. Keep up the good work. Cheers.
I've always said it so much. Moto G is the best balanced all around value phone. But those other choices almost got me rethinking.
Got my HTC 626G+ for 250
Octa-core processor
2gb ram
8gb memory
5,5" 1080p screen
13 and 5 megapixels cameras
Its pretty good and the only bad thing is the speaker...
Hey Austin! Love your vids!!
Should've got the Moto G.
seeing the moto g's camera really looking forward for moto x style and your review
Great comparison video.
Gained a sub!
hey Austin which one should i buy moto g 3 or ausus zenfone 2.camera and battery is my preference
I recently bought the HTC Desire 610 (I think) and have found it's a fantastic phone for only $175.
Hi austin...xiomi mi 4 is a budget phone you worth looking at..
I'd like to get a Moto G and I know it has a pretty good camera and everything else but is it worth spending an extra $200 to buy an LG G3 instead (better specs and really really good camera)?? Photography is one of the main things I'm going to be using the phone for.
I always like your content and you are always one step ahead on technology and you also put nitro fun 😂
Austins hair never ceases to amaze me.
Austin your hair. My gawd well done.
This will sound like a dumb question but will this work on a rogers plan?
How do they compare to old Samsung phones for great screen quality, the Samsung Note 2 3 and 4 or great options, as well as Samsung's budget lineup if you're not willing to buy used. Also the Note 4 might not have the greatest person to Performance but it is capable of emulating Nintendo DS and I believe it has 1440p screen.
