Not sure if you've done that already, but there's software/services that can check the internet to see what of his personal information is floating around and where. Since it was photos of his ID, that might open your grandpa up to identity theft. I have a genius idea how to find all those call centers! You just need wireshark, geo-locate their IP and a bunch of seismographs. Let @Kitboga call them, give the rough location to the locals, install the seismographs and around the three to four hours mark they can measure the eruption of the scammers. The epicenter should point to the call center. For even greater precision you can set up some microphones and listen for the "No! No!" sounds.
The people who get talked into doing these scams believe that this is their job, that YOU are taking THEIR potential money away (and theoretical money since you're wasting their time) lol. It's great that people are starting to catch on to the scams and started wasting their time (and that older people are either becoming wiser to it or are dying out and aren't falling for it like they used to).
I honestly think they justify their abhorrant behaviour thinking we are all "greedy" in the west. They have no conscious as they view us as greedy, spoiled and entitled. However, I don't see them giving their stollen money to help those in their country. All I see is them living it large, spending money on a luxury lifestyle, one that their victims could only ever dream of. Their culture is to have the utmost respect for the elderly, funny how they have absolutely no qualms trying to Rob a 77 year old western old man. Sorry no other word, complete and utter bastards!!!

the point is that they’re trying to rush them. Being angry or threatening makes people act rashly, which is good for the scammers. they can scam people by being nice, of course, but it’s both slower (giving the victim more time to think) and requires a lot more skill to manipulate someone that way.
To be fair i think a lot of repitition is language barriers and a lot of the English being limited to their scripts. Otherwise they'd say something else to better manipulate and control the situation. They're clearly not smooth talkers in English

@@midcondition It's not anything specific to scammers, and it's not about "all Indians" but it is still true. It's an aspect of the work culture in India. People are expected to conform and follow basic orders without questioning them, sometimes even if those instructions are obviously incorrect or illegal. If an Indian person is given a suggestion (especially if the suggestion comes from someone senior to them), they will often unquestioningly agree, and follow instructions to the letter, unless those instructions contradict something they were told by a more senior employer. This can be anything from working ridiculous hours, to doing things which are obviously wrong (either factually or morally), or simply refusing to acknowledge or fix obvious problems because their boss never told them to. I've experienced this myself in working with people based in India, and I can see the evidence of it in these videos. It's not a problem with Indian people, but with Indian work culture.

@@TheChase2010 In layman's words (or what I've learned from watching these videos) once the refund-scammers get access to your computer screen, they merely change what your screen says temporarily, with some minor coding/HTML editing tricks. In reality, they never actually touch your money whatsoever (because the reality of an ACTUAL financial transaction on your account by them is impossible). But sadly what they can do is an optical illusion: when YOU look at YOUR screen, it LOOKS like your account balance has been adjusted to reflect a new big total from the incorrect refund. If you were to hit refresh on the bank page, their temporary screen would be lost, and your true account would be there as it always was. All the scammer has to do is get the victim to believe the temporary, wizard-of-oz smoke screen for a moment, obey their constant "DO NOT TOUCH THE COMPUTER," and be emotionally motivated by whatever guilt/fear ("you messed up the computer....you will go behind the bars") or empathy ("ohmygod, I will lose my job") tactics the scammer employs. The scammer manipulates the victim into heading *directly* to Target/Apple/Walmart (instead of going to their bank and realizing the nonexistent issue) for the gift cards with the "owed" money that they actually never gave you in the first place at all. And thus, the scammer can con away thousands.

Han Lockhart I think you mean scammers, generalizing all Indians that way is bordering on racism
@Han Lockhart well I somehow disagree on this.
You can't judge all by few.
@@nathangamble125 it's pretty human behaviour for people who don't earn as much. Just as a person from another country would or would not do the same
It's bad enough that they're scamming people, but it's so bizarre to me that some of these scammers are so rude. I'm amazed that Kit has never lost it on one of these clowns. He's such a genuine, good dude. I hope he's so angry because he just got off the phone with someone else who wasted his time before Kit. I would have laid him out early on when he said "it doesn't matter to you" then hung up. Talk about the greater good! This is one of my favorite YT channels, ever! Keep up the good work!
he did, once, but that was when he was doing reveals and trying to "reach out" to the person. TBH i really don't think he can change the scammer because they're way up their asses anyway. The other scam baiter, the guy who looks like an old pewdiepie, interviewed some scammers who couldn't stomach the job, so i'm sure those left are the ones who're really in it.
Besides, not revealing is a lot more entertaining that trying to preach.
theyre rude cause so many people fall for this. they dont have to be nice. they will tell you you suck and move on to the next mark. I love that Kit doesn't take the bait.

my sentiments exactly. Each time they start shouting to other people during the call in Hindi probably insulting the person they're calling, it's annoying... it's always "blablabla maka bul.." Usually that in itself is rude.

scammer logic: you have to send us this 15000 dollars bc we cant access it, but if you dont do it i'll empty your whole bank account right now
LMAO. That is pretty stupid. So logical.
They make great programmers too...
It's is logical. That logic only works in India though.
Kit: let me call my bank to see what happenned.
Scammer: oh no, don't call your bank!
my mum fell for one of these scammers once. She was recovering at home from heart surgery and genuinely thought she was talking to someone from Microsoft. The process went on for quite some time but before she got to the stage of actually giving them money she texted me at work. I was able to call her and get her off the phone call with them. It really shook her and took away whatever low amount of confidence she had with her technology. While i find these videos funny they just infuriate me. I've seen the after effects they can have on the vulnerable and it doesn't go away.
This guys grandmother fell for one of these. She had alzheimers and they took advantage of her. That's why he does these videos. They're funny, but they're also about awareness and warning people what these guys are about and how they try the scam.
How does this work? They actually give you money and you send it back? And then what? They cancel the transaction?
TheChase2010 they’re not giving bro are you dumb?

I worked in a credit union call center for years and “Daffney” was spot on. I love your vids. Keep up the good work. There is almost nothing thing as bad as explaining to an elderly person that they have lost their life’s savings to these scumbags.
The part where she yelled "How do I put this on hold" in the background was hilarious
How they “freeze” or pretend to take all of their money actually they didn’t. Very conniving
“Withdraw 14 thousand US dollars in 100 bills and wrap it in tinfoil and send it to us in fedex”

honestly the most regarded request... do people actually fall for this
@@ownthispwn There must be at least some people doing this or else they wouldn't be requesting it. I would imagine it may be much much older, possibly naive older folks. Sad really.
@@ownthispwn I don't think you meant regarded but I get what you were going for. Most Regarded is good too. Also, how else would I send money if not wrapped in tinfoil? It would be easier if we built a network of bank drive-thru tubes to every house. A better network, I mean. My tube only goes to McDonald's so they can send me hamburders. They gotta wrap your burders up with tinfoil otherwise the 5g melts them.
@@ownthispwn yeah they do the old and sick and whoever these scumbags target
I don't think it works; it might be a ploy to confuse the victim and eventually get them to buy the gift card.
