Tell me why I am six months into Graphic Design and then I came across this video. I dig it, great info and a big eye opener. Ima keep pushing through.
Thanks so much for the video, I'm just wrapping up highschool and I'm looking into graphic design as a career. It's really cool to see how passionate you are and it inspires me to keep going down this path!
Thank you so much for watching bro! Thats dope to hear man, congratulations on finishing high school! Stay in touch man, I would love to see how your journey into graphic design turns out. It’s very rewarding for sure! 🔥🔥🔥
I get the "you gotta pay me like you need it in 2 days". Dynamic pricing like the airline industry. High demand / despration from the client - high price. Planned well in advance to give you development time? Lower rate to accomdate other projects in the longer time.
Not at all lol this isn’t an airline, this is a logo. It shouldn’t be rushed, and it shouldn’t be cheap. They can potentially make millions off the designs that you create for them if they market it correctly. You should always treat your efforts with that mindset & with that respect 🤝
@@DURRELL.RASHAD Indeed. Passengers don't need to think, or have a long-term idea. They are demanding like the short-notice client! Not sure I could do a logo good enough that quick..yet. If you can't do it (in that time), I don't know if you'd price yourself out of the market (very expensive to increase the priority over other projects), or simply say no?
@@dcarbs2979 I've worked in "Fast paced" aka toxic environments LOL that forced efficiency & quickness on the designs so i got used to it. I kind of learned how to design anything within a few hours. In these cases i would require more hands on work from the client. So i would require a sketch, more design inspiration, mood boarding, and more thorough answers on a questionnaire. I would turn myself into more so of a vessel than an actual artist at that point. So the ideation & concept would be more of a team effort, instead of just me trying to come up with it on my own. If they couldn't accommodate me on that part then i would likely pass on the project. Because at that point they're probably a nightmare client & the money is rarely ever worth it to work with them lol
The thing is: I'm a very shy person, I don't have a network. I think this is something that can make things difficult. I'm still trying, but it's getting hard since 2023. I love GD but I also love to pay the bills 😅
Haha man I know what you mean, I’m shy & introverted as well. One thing that helped me was just taking baby steps. Posting my work as much as possible & reaching out to 5-10 friends a day (you can start with 1-2) asking if they need services or know someone that needed my services. After awhile you kind of build up muscle memory & don’t overthink it anymore.
@@DURRELL.RASHAD That's a good idea, thank you! I also sell my designs on design marketplaces, this helped me a lot a few years ago, because it does not require a lot of talking 😆
@@DURRELL.RASHAD I'm selling my designs on Design Bundles and Creative Fabrica. Unfortunately I'm earning less now because of AI, but I've earned a good money selling on these marketplaces!
I really wanna take graphic design as my career cz it's genuinely my passion but i also want to have a stable job with a stable payement too without the rist of not paying the bills or not getting clients too and that's why im kinda hesitating in taking this choice do you know if there's companies that hire graphic designers with an actual stable payement + other payements of clients or smth like that ?
As long as you have the skill you can find work, I've always had a stable job/income with graphic design work since 2013. Its competitive but if you get better at your craft & update your portfolio then you should be able to find work!
Nice vid man, Im currently about to graduate from plastic arts and i want to make a career out of graphic design. I only have done like 2 logos and a flyer, so what would be a good way to start ? Creating an imaginary brief and doing A logo, web design ,etc for that imaginary company or is there another way ??
My guy thanks for watching! If it was me, my main focus would be applying for internships or Jr Graphic Design Jobs and then building a portfolio around those positions. I would use GoodBrief.Io to make up mockup companies for me. Also highlight your strengths in your resume and the impact you made in college! Thanks for watching bro, and good luck!
@ you’re welcome. I appreciate you sharing the management system that you use. Entering into this career field and the organization part was was lowkey stressing me out( preparing for the hurtles). So yeah. So appreciated. True village mentality. 🫶
Man! I have so many thoughts about this, I was actually going to make a video here soon about it. But I think it eventually will settle in and find its place like Fiverr & Upwork have. I think it will hurt & help the graphic design industry tbh. I think graphic designers will be more efficient but I don’t think they’ll be replaced (yet)
A friend of mine told me to get into gd, never went to college to study it only using UA-cam tutorials and what not but its a really interesting thing don't know where it will lead me honestly.
Wow! Even your first design was good. I’m so proud of you! That just blew me away! KEEP 👏🏽 UP 👏🏽 THE 👏🏽 WORK! 👏🏽 Grasping it quickly took me! Nah, imma need months to draw a stick figure! You’re so inspiring. ❤️🫶🏽 Ps. I need editing tips lol. 😂
Haha I got you on the tips! Just let me know when, and also there’s a great website to learn anything called Skillshare you can literally learn anything on there and it’s free for a few months!
