Love the Granny Square blanket! One yr I taught my girls group at church how to make them - we worked on them all yr long & right before the holidays, I scheduled for us to visit a local retirement home & I connected my Oh So Nervous Youngins (girls) with the Oldins (elderly) to hand them out…Absolute Love was born! We spent the morning chatting with the elderly & in the parking lot afterwards, before we could even reach the vehicles, the girls were asking when they could return to the retirement home! I was so very proud of them! 🧡🌻 love your videos!

Are you aware of Ravelry as a place to find knitting and crochet patterns? It really warms my heart to see someone get into the craft I love!

0:18 - it was only for a nano-second, but I think I caught a glimpse of a sewing machine. Whoop!! Whoop!! This makes me very excited for you, Immy!! This high school sewing teacher wishes she was your next-door neighbour… then we could share, swap, learn, and chat about all things related to hands-on hobbies. This festive season I am making Scandinavian Christmas Stars with my students. These are no-sew folded fabric star ornaments. I used to make them out of paper when I was a kid, but the fabric versions are much classier. If you have scrap fabric lying around, I highly suggest giving it a go. They are very easy to make, and there are tonnes of tutorials on YT. I am so looking forward to your upcoming vids and seeing all your latest projects and tasty kitchen endeavours. PS - I will be making your Mushroom Stew with Dumplings this weekend… I will think of you when I am filling my bowl!! Ⓜary💕🧵🥣

    Happy Holiday Season!
I really enjoy making Christmas decorations myself and I think there's so many beautiful ideas that you can make based on stuff like old cardboard, toilettepaper rolls or natural materials you can collect in the woods. I try to tackle that as a multiple year project for myself. Like make one or two things each year to build a collection of festive decorations. Last year I made stars from toilettepaper rolls which I hung up in front of the window again just yesterday. Now I'm working on small houses cut out from old cardboard boxes that I want to turn into a garland. I feel sometimes it can be stressful to try to fit doing these things in a quite packed time of the year but it really does get me in a festive and winter mood.

Really excited to see all of your projects! I also learned loads this year: how to crochet, how to code, and trying to get better at French. I’m working on lace crochet scarves for Christmas presents this year. Thanks for another inspiring video! 😊

I recommend Ravelry for patterns! It’s a bit overwhelming, but you can filter by difficulty, gender, etc. Many patterns cost $5-10 but the creators have already put in the sizing work and math. I started knitting in 2020 and I love seeing you start your journey!

I came here to recommend her ravelry too! Using the filter you can also search for free patterns. I've been knitting for over ten years and there is where I found most of the patterns I've ever knitted 😊

I love your videos! I decided to make all my Christmas presents this year. I crocheted a lot of hats and a few purses and ornaments and did some embroidery hoops and am making my mom a tree skirt. I started in august to have adequate time with my full time job. I still have a few more left but have most of them done. It’s been so rewarding:) I also made a lot of ornaments for my Christmas tree and a garland of crocheted Santa hats and crocheted placemats and cup holders! Hope this gives some inspiration:)

I'm exploring hand sewing. Not a new skill, just under utilized by me. I fell in love with Ann Woods patterns for hand sewing 3d objects. I've made a crow and a dozen mushrooms for gifts. Coincidentally I just listened to Bernadette Banner interview on the love to sew podcast and it's all about the joys of hand sewing. Highly recommend. Good luck with your projects!

I just swapped my knitting needles for a crochet hook…loving it, honestly! I think that deeper yellow was so beautiful with the deep blue…can you alternate the light and dark yellow squares? I also want to commit to a sourdough starter this new year…that focaccia looks divine. Such a lovely video🥰🥰🥰

Love these crafty videos! I'm busy working on knitting a blanket. My mom-in-law knitted a blanket before she passed away, with the intention of donating it to a charity. I decided to keep her blanket as it means a lot to me, so now I'm knitting a replacement blanket to donate to charity.

You’ve got to crochet 🧶 some Christmas 🎄 ornaments.

  • @Blue-pb7kz

I saw an Instagram video of someone making Christmas ornaments out of the metal from a (yellowish/gold-ish on the inside) tube of tomato paste, by flattening it, cutting out shapes and sort of engraving them by drawing lines into the shape by pressing down really hard? They were so pretty! Anyways now I really want to try it except all the soft metal food packaging I have is silver colored.
Anyways I'm currently knitting some mini red stockings and sweaters to use as Christmas ornaments for a secret Santa out of leftover yarn, and also finally finishing a baby blanket. Envious of your crochet project, I love crochet blankets but can never really get the hang of it!

I felt the yarn cost bit in my soul 😅 there might be a reuse craft store in your area! Mine tends to be mostly acrylic, but I have found some cotton and wool. I’ll use it to add color or make smaller pieces.

So great! I'm loving all of your projects!
I recommend going to estate sales in the Denver area! I'm starting to get more into quilting, so I visit estate sales to grab cheap, secondhand blankets or sheets. There are always a ton of Christmas items. You can just flip through the pictures online to see if anything catches your eye, so there's a little less guesswork than regular thrifting. And sometimes you can find the greatest things for very little money, especially in areas with affluent suburbs.
Does the UK have estate sales? I love them so much

Happy almost Holidays Immy! I live alone, so sometimes decorating for the holidays bogs me down too. My advice is to split up the decorating & activities, so you're not tiring yourself out by doing it all at once. And some years, I don't feel like using all the decorations, and other years I want to totally do it up! That keeps me going, and let's me enjoy some of the festivities. Looking forward to more of your project videos :)

What a lovely video! I'm excited for your blanket! Show us the progress when you can. :) For my projects, I'm finishing my knitted scarf and I'm making a bunch of Christmas decorations. I want to give my baby real Christmas magic and since everything is so incredibly expensive, I'm creating stuff from cereal cardboards (Christmas trees and houses that have colourful threads glued to them) and normal cardboards (pepparkakor imitations). It doesn't look that bad and I'm feeling very creative, which I haven't felt in many, many years. ❤️

Such a lovely video. I can’t wait to see what you get up to over the next few weeks.
If you have yarn leftover from other projects you could make quite a few Christmas ornaments or even decorations for your home! Knitting and crochet ones are available. Ravelry is a crafters best friend!

Soooo excited to see you dipping your toes into crochet! It's a little more forgiving than knitting, in my experience, but feels very different as well. As for your struggle choosing a hook size: don't sweat it if you don't like the feel of the "obvious" choice of hook. Personally, I prefer working with medium hooks (4-5mm), but I work more often with very large ones (8+ mm) because the projects are quicker to finish. I also know people who prefer working with tiny hooks to make lace crochet items. It's all a matter of personal preference and what works best for the project at hand. :) Experiment a lot and you'll find what you like.
Also, very excited to see your macarons and your decorations!! I'm trying to figure out a more natural way to decorate as well. I made homemade cinnamon-scented pine cones for autumn and now I'm thinking about doing dried citrus garlands for winter. Best of luck with your own projects!!

I absolutely love your videos on UA-cam. You are so inspiring! I look forward to them so much! I plan on trying to make sourdough starter over the holidays and experiment as you have been doing. You are doing a great job with your knitting and crocheting. I look forward to seeing your finished sweater for your husband and the crochet blanket.
Another suggestion for decorating are crochet stars and snowflakes that you stiffen /starch. Lots of free patterns on pinterest.
I wanted to send you a picture of a few of the Christmas stockings i made for my co-workers this year but i cant figure out how to send it.
I’m looking forward to watching your future content on UA-cam and instagram 😊

It's fun to see all the things you're working on! And I'm also feeling less like a grinch this season. I think because I've been trying to take off the pressure of all the Shoulds and "Have Tos" that I usually put on myself for the holidays. I'm in my 50s so I've been the mom who has made Xmas happen and it's so much work and I've always felt like I'm 500 steps behind everyone else. I'm glad to see you're giving it a go with more decorating and seeing what traditions you want to have for yourself.
You make me want to get back into knitting! I do need a new hat for sure. I did learn a bit of crocheting a few years ago too, and I found that crocheting goes faster for me. I'm curious to hear what you think of hte difference between the two.

I love learning too....obsessed! I'm crocheting over thrifted baubles and they're v cute. I did loads last year as gifts. Video on YT I can send you if you like. Crochet star garland I made 7 years ago still going strong too. And I'm not an advanced crochet-er by any means. Try cornflour clay its much better than the salt on, you can roll thinly as it's white white.
