7:15 - Immy, you are so very insightful… truly!! My bestie passed away suddenly when we were young and at an age when we never gave a thought to growing older. Her legacy lives within me… it is the constant reminder of how lucky and privileged I am to be growing older in the fulfilling life that I have. Her legacy reminds me to celebrate life and to accept with grace all that comes in the “grey power years”. Like you said, Immy, it’s the conversations, the experiences, and the memories we have that enrich our lives. TYSM for this reminder. You are gently powerful, and I always appreciate you. Ⓜary💕

We just lost my husbands 12 almost 13 yr old nephew a few days ago. We are all hurting right now, and it just made it so real to me hearing you say that not everyone has the privilege of getting old. I’m 36 and every year gets better. It’s a mindset that we need to change. Some of the most beautiful people that are out there are those who live life to the fullest and have peace with God.

Immy you look very pretty in your dress. I'm 73 and I'm embracing my gray hair and wrinkles. I don't wear makeup to hide them. Yes I agree aging is a privilege. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.❤

I found this so relatable! I notice a lot of low waste women don't wear makeup or do their hair or if they do they use brands I've never heard of. I love getting dolled up so that aspect of my low waste journey isn't great but I use what I have even if the products aren't the best for the environment. I have so much that I havent bought new makeup this year and am gonna continue on for as long as possible. Ty for showing us this side of you 😊

Ahhh Immy I’m loving these regular videos from you - your comments on the privilege of aging and growing old really resonated and I thought that was such an insightful and touching way to look at it. ❤ (Ps. You really shone in that dress!)

A major advantage of age is learning to accept ourselves without passing judgement. When putting on my finery I used to fuss and fret over everything… my hair, my make-up, my dress, my shoes, my jewelry, my bag!! It took a long time for me to be my own ally and to tell myself how great I looked. Confidence from within radiates outward. I’ve been thinking a lot about growing older as I am moving into my twilight years. I find now I look less in the mirror and more within. Thanks so much for this video Immy. Your dress is spectacular… good move on making the purchase!! I really enjoyed this conversation about looking and feeling our best. Ⓜary💕

Also, now that you're a knitter, you could make yourself a nice shawl to bring with your for evening warmth! There are great fun patterns available, and they're WAY easier than a whole sweater, especially a cardigan!

You look so pretty in your dress with hair and makeup. But you know, as cheezy as it sounds, your personality, confidence, and convictions make you all the prettier. I like what you said at the end too about wearing our hair how we want no matter what others think or say - it's so basic and true but women are constantly under pressure in that way.

It's so true that aging is a privilege. I hope that our culture is changing to appreciate aging more and the wisdom and history it brings. Aging has its own beauty, and as a 58 year old, I'm planning to embrace it. So many good topics in this video! I try not to worry what people will think about me wearing clothes that I've worn before-- do I remember what other people wear? Usually not! And I don't care if they choose to wear a favorite outfit many times. I need to give your sustainable makeup video a watch-- that's one area I haven't looked into. I know that there are a lot of products out there that have very questionable ingredients, with toxins or carcinogens. It's so hard to figure out sometimes, but definitely seems worth it to put in the work. Thanks for sharing with us... you look so nice for the wedding! And as a straight-haired person, I am amazed at how much those with curly-hair have to do to manage their hair.

Your dress is lovely you look beautiful Ive been invited to my neices wedding and was getting myself all worked up as I literally have nothing that could be considered suitable for a wedding I didnt want to buy a one off Item Id probably never wear again( ive done that in the past ) fortunately my daughter has a much more going out wardrobe than I have , she has some lovely dresses and shoes so Ive borrowed an outfit the only thing Ive had to buy was a small underskirt for£6.00 from the local market and treated myself to a new foundation as my old one is finally running out. Now Im looking forward to going she is marrying an Indian lad so the food will be amazing and the saris that the ladies will be wearing will be a treat for the eye.

I've turned 30 in December and started getting lots of silver hairs. I've not dyed my hair for about 4 years now. I'm contemplating whether I should dye them or not. And which is the most non-toxic option out there. If you ever consider dying your hair - it would be interesting to know what you'll use for it.

Do you have any suggestions for sustainable gifts. I have a few nieces and nephews having babies soon. Some are pretty fussy about their things. I know one will be please to have something sustainable but I'm not sure the others will understand. I hate all of the waste on baby things

    • @TarTelperienNumenor

Maybe just give money or a giftcard then? With maybe a small thoughtful gift if you want to add a more personal touch?
As much as we would love to encourage sustainable options (like reusable diapers or non-plastic baby items) if the parents don't like them and use them, it's still being wasteful.

Hi Immy, make-up really looks good on you and so does this particular dress: the colors, the florals, the shape. However, please consider having a light small purse to go with it (like the envelope type) and also more feminine shoes. I never understood the feminine dress + sport shoes combination, it's an eyesore! No offense!

    • @bethanyhartzell5336
      @bethanyhartzell5336 10 місяців тому +17

Hm. I've been sitting here for probably 10 minutes trying to decide whether to respond to this and what is most appropriate. Obviously, Immy can respond for herself, but I also don't want to be an inactive bystander. I guess my response is to simply point out that make up and style are subjective things which anyone can choose to do however they want. no matter whether you choose to "go commando" as I call not wearing make up, or choose to have fun getting fancy with hair, make-up, nails, and a fancy outfit, you are beautiful. If someone chooses a feminine dress and sporty shoes, that is a conscious choice that the person is making--whether it is for what is "in style" at the moment or if it is simply the way that a person feels most beautiful. Either way, I am of the opinion that how a person chooses to present themselves is not "for" other people to comment on. Saying that the style that anyone chose is "an eyesore," is projecting your subjective opinion of what is beautiful onto someone else, which is, by its nature, quite offensive. If, however, the person you are interacting with asks for your opinion on how to style something and you have built up an intimate relationship, obviously you are being invited to share your opinion, in which case, calling the person's chosen style "an eyesore" would still be quite hurtful. I hope all of that made sense. Again, Immy is her own person and can speak up if she feels the need to respond to your comment, I just felt like it was worth pointing out as best I could the biggest thing I find problematic with your response.

@@bethanyhartzell5336 IF YOU READ CAREFULLY MY MESSAGE you will see I said: PLEASE CONSIDER! I also said NO OFFENSE! The combination is still terrible for A WEDDING even if for a day time wedding. The purse as well does't go with the dress and the shoes. Fine to cut costs, wear the same thing for all weddings, but choose carefully the pieces that go together. They can all be thrifted or borrowed, no need to buy new things. My comment is CONSTRUCTIVE and for her own good. I like Immy and care for her, this is WHY I left the comment.

    • @dogood7337

@@rebekahbennett6240 Basically I think the dirty sport shoes & a beautiful feminine dress don't go together especially if we speak of a wedding. The bag as well doesn't go in this combo, but it could get better if the shoes / sandals were more feminine. I expressed my opinion in a respectful way, The combination still remains an eyesore no matter who wears it! It's ok to express opinions, if they are made in a polite manner. I wouldn't consider the people around me ok to be around me if they didn't give me constructive feedback especially when preparing for an event. I wouldn't want to make a fool of myself. If you want to transform this into something it's not, go ahead, but stop wasting my time!

@@rebekahbennett6240 You are one of those people who can't tell the difference between constructive feedback and negative feedback (for the sake of being mean). Immy gets money because she gets likes & comments. I expressed my opinion in a polite manner which might help her in the choices for future weddings while also helping her channel. She might take my feedback into consideration, she might not. She is an adult, she doesn't need to be 'defended' by people like you for having received constructive feedback!
