Still a beast after all these years. 100-200 in low 8s with simple tune/exhaust work.
Probably my favorite era of Mercedes
If you properly set one with equal length headers, right pulley and intercoolers, it’s 680hp-720hp easily, reliably, and comparably cheap, and goes 6.1-6.2sec 100-200, which is mad performance per money

I believe you. My dad had a e430 4matic and it was effortless felt like you were on a cloud. This is one hell of machine the e55 amg.

@@Euphorica In germany you can get one of those for around 20k, which is pretty cheap considering its a 476hp supercharged v8 (if you can afford the maintenance)

Stock E55 is 100-200 in 9.2 seconds - so 8.15 on this car is fast!
9.2 stock e55 ?? My e55 w211 9.7 stock 2003 whit 100 octan
@@milutinstojanovic4982 If the air temperature is hot outside the car may be a bit slower. AutotopNL's E55 Wagon is 9.39 seconds in a older video.

One of the best sedans ever made. Not as violent as the M5s, but reliable with tons of torque

@@sandroschtolpe6803 it’s not the case, Mercedes of that era was (not now!) really super accurate and I can confirm- have a slk 350 from 2005 and the Speedo is within 1-2kmh below gps and maintains that even at fast speeds. While BMW of the era was notoriously off - the best examples are e60 m5 and e92 m3 - while they barely used to reach 300kmh their speedos showed over 330kmh - that was when the myth was born about them being fast although all real test showed that a60 m5 was slower than a e55 both max speed- and acceleration-wise
The gearbox sounds sluggish but this things seems to gain speed so easily.
Big engine w211 are quite sluggish in the start but ones it starts going they are rockets.
it is ! i have w211 3.2 cdi 250hp 575nm gearbox is slow but it goes :)
The gearbox is very reliable tho.

This has been my dream car for a while now, honestly the perfect age for mercedes, still old enough to be cheap, but they still got that german quality and amazing v8
This car can definitely hit more than 280 km/h… the reason I watch this channel is to see the full potential of the cars that are driven, no point to let go off the gas when the car is still pulling, sick Mercedes tho

I took my 2004 S55 up to 160. The fuel was cut off because of the electronic speed limiter, at 155.

The reason why these are cheap is because it costs a fortune to keep on the road because you pay 3000€ or even (a lot) more per year just on taxes , (belgium) and then you havent even payed ensurance , gasoline , maintainance , this car costs an average consumer over 10 000 € per year without furl cost
Not even close. The taxes and insurance depends on the country(eg in Serbia its only 800€ per year for the 03 E55) and regular yearly maintainance is roughly 500€ if nothing breaks. Fuel is also dependant on the mileage, type of driving etc. Its the other stuff like the SBC pump, airmatic, supercharger etc than can run up the costs significantly if the car was not maintained properly, but all in all, for a 470hp Mercedes V8, the cost is actually pretty reasonable

570hp with stage 1 on the e55 was not realist.
Never past 530hp with Stage 1.
476 hp to 570 hp that is 94 hp or 20 precent increase in hp is possible for stage 1.

I have Two M113K (E and G).
Simply Maping and exhaust (st 1) and the powerfull was around 530/540 maximum.
The differents tuners explain that....
@@a.h5980 Stage 1 means sport exhaust system, sport air filter, iridium spark plugs and chip. You have to do these things for stage 1. 476 hp you have if your car is new but we are talking about car 15+ years. Now it's maybe 430-440 hp and with stage 1 can reach 530-540hp so you are right 😊😉
