I don’t know if anyone else thought of this, but the way the “mental asylum” was swaying reminded me of the way objects move on a ship on turbulent seas. And there was that trailer that showed a boat swaying on the sands. Is it possible THAT boat is the embodiment of where Marc/Steven’s “mental hospital” is? The journey through the reeds?
Oh interesting
Yoo you’re on to something…
Your comment should be pinned. This is phenomenal!
Oh shit, you’re absolutely onto something :0
yup
Taweret isn't just the goddess of fertility but also rebirth and protection.
I literally just typed this.
Also rejuvenation too which will help them
I was thinking exactly that - it's gotta be rebirth
came here to say the SAME thing. REBIRTH/REJUVINATION.
Goddess of rebirth might help Steven and Marc get out of the mental hospital
Let’s just appreciate Oscar Isaacs dedication to this role when he takes that ankle breaking step while trying to run out of Harrow’s office. Looks painful and he did it on purpose.
Oscar Isaac has the most incredible attention to detail. I love how Marc holds an imaginary rifle as they stalk the corridors of the mental hospital.
hes sick
Yeah, Steven was the timid one, when they were still in the same body, you had to know who which persona it was straight away, now that they are in the same space, you can see the stark contrast between them and will know without a doubt who is Steven and who is Marc.
It's called a script
@@frankstudent it doesn’t have to be scripted some company’s keep things that the actors made. Up in the movie
I truly feel that this asylum is just inside Marc's mind. That explains why his other personalities are locked away in rooms, along with the third shaking coffin being the newer personality developing (Jake). Steven Grant being the name of his other personality is explained by any DID, as his name was inspired by something enjoyed by the main personality. Explanation 2 is the most reasonable explanation in my opinion
I think that too!
So.... steven is a fictive
Idk if anyone’s ever watched the magicians on Syfy but this definitely reminded me of the episode where Julia locks Quienten in an asylum in his mind
The mental hospital reminded me of the nursing home for old Egyptian gods in Rick Riordan's Kane series
like the underground in Doom patrol?
I had a couple thoughts.
1. I don't think Marc is going through the Field of Reeds. That is a form of afterlife for those who pass the trial of the feather of truth. I think Marc isn't dead yet, but Tawaret has shown herself to be a guide to him in this purgatory he's stuck in.
2. The reason I think Marc and Steven are stuck in purgatory because of Jake and his unseen suit persona. Marc and Steven have their suit alters in Moon Knight and Mr Knight, and we're yet to see Jake and his suit alter. I think Harrow shot him twice for the two alters he knows of, but he doesn't know about Jake. Three human alters and their three suit alters also fills out the six points of the Eye of Horus, where each 'sense' is an alter, either a human or an avatar of Khon-shu.
3. Marc is the primary alter, which is why he is the one who 'wakes up' in the asylum, while Steven and Jake are locked inside sarcophagi. Without Marc, the other two can't exist.
How's he gonna have a uit with Khonshu out of the picture right now?
@@DatBoiChris420 well, he's technically not out of the picture, as if the hippo goddess is there with them, and was made into a statue, Konshu is likely there with them aswell
If Jake isn't dead then he might just save the other personas
I like your thinking Shaantanu
just fyi, jake doesn’t have a suit on the comics
Im kinda surprised no one mentioned that they noticed a fly land on marc's hand, but in a previous episode when marc confronts steven through a mirror, he tells him it would take all his willpower to appear as a fly, maybe its jake lockley trying to signal marc, but when that didnt work, he tried the sarcophagus, just like how he found steven, but then also failed.
he said “a fly on the wall” which is just a metaphor for someone standing quietly to the side and observing. i don’t think they have the mind power to control flies and stuff lmao
@@dylanmunson9647 I'm not saying they control flies lol, im trying to say that maybe jake lockley is trying to appear as a fly, instead of a mirror reflection
The funny thing about that shot though is that the directors said in an interview that it was just a random fly that landed on Oscar during filming, and since he stayed in character and they loved his reaction to it they kept it in.
So not sure if they came up with some meaning by keeping it too, but it didn't start out that way.
@@FIERY234 he can’t do that he’s not a fly
@@raelshark so the fly wasn’t a paid actor lol 😂
22:11 got a cool detail showing how much thought Oscar Isaac has put into his acting. Marc asks “what is the last thing you remember?” and Steven tells him it’s getting shot by Harrow. And Marc’s amazing excitement is what we focus on- how he gets loud and moves in a sudden way, but if we look at Steven, he too shakes a bit by Marc’s loud excitement as if he was scared because he was not expecting that reaction to his answer.
That’s literally the same person and still an amazing portrayal of action and reaction there, just the right reaction at the right time. How could they get that shot?! That is so amazing. Probably there are a lot of such amazing shots of Marc and Steven; gotta look for them again I guess.
I love how Konshu is some demonic bird skull and Marc's all like whatever. But he see's a hippo head and all of sudden shits himself haha
to be fair, shitting yourself is the correct response when you suddenly see a hippo in front of you. hippos are deadly XD
Lmao
well I guess he got used to seeing a big bird, now seeing a big hippo randomly sounds scary no matter what
I love Steven and Marc’s hug SO MUCH. Seeing Oscar Isaac hug himself healed something within me haha. But seriously I hope this means all his alters will end up getting along by the end
Sameee, they’ve been at each other’s throats all over the past episodes and seeing them actually being glad to see each other because they’re confused, it made me happy too :D
That hit me in the feels more than I expected
@@ironicanimations yeah! It was so nice!
They look so happy!!
oscar issac is so awesome
The hug from Steven and Marc almost had me tearing up... hope I'm not alone.
Yeah even though they didn’t like each other
Definitely made me smile
You are not alone.
The way Marc exclaims 'Steven!' the second time.. Like seeing a long lost friend again.
Pretty sure you almost didn’t teared up
A detail i liked is how the different personalities react to Taweret.
Marc, the mercenary and vigilante, raised his fists in a defensive stance.
Steven, the inexperienced Nerd and Gift Shoppist, retreats and reaches around in the hopes of finding a weapon.
I would have called it a perfect reaction if Marc moved his arm to the right to try and shield Steven from a possible threat.
Steven also was meekly waving in return. Must be polite whilst retreating in fear. 🤣
The two different screams too. Marc's gruff manly startlement and Steven's girly high-pitched were both perfect!
Taweret was also in charge in helping the dead travel through the Afterlife safely
I was surprised that this wasn’t mentioned nor the statue of (who I think is) Khnum that sits on Harrows desk. I read that he guided Ra through the underworld, created the boat that they rode on, and defended him against Apep the serpent. That statue must have some significance 🤔
I totally think this is the afterlife. It actually reminds me of the Kane Chronicles where they traveled through the underworld
Maybe Jake is in that Mommy coffin.
@@furrytale143 sarcophagus
The hippo goddess had a statue near konshu in their first shot. I bet Steven and Marc are going to meet konshu in this realm and get the powers back.
I really hope it wasn't all a dream, I feel like that would undermine the series so much. I think explanation #2 is very plausible
Me too
No way they'd go that route.
He’s in the duat, the Egyptian afterlife
They would never do that I completely agree that it would ruin it and I think they know that better than us 😂
I think the god of mind is trying to open up to Steven, allowing him to find the true understanding of himself and allow him to cooperate between each version of his identity. Each part of the story was broken down simply in his mind to ensure that he could memorise it. Its an entrapment and him escaping it, could ultimately help unlock Jacob/jake and his final mental state.
Fun little thing: the pen that Harrow holds up on his office is a fountain pen, a Lamy Safari. But they left on the little cardboard ring that it comes packaged with to prevent it from accidentally puncturing the included ink cartridge. You can see it just below the cap. It's either a mistake, or a very small detail indicating Arthur doesn't use it to write.
That's a rearlly good catch.
What a mad lad
blood sacrifice stabber majigy 😅
I think it's the second one. That he doesn't actually use it to write. Amazing catch
I'm a Psychology graduate and I really enjoyed watching this series! So there's this one discussion one time about how full moon affects mental health of individuals. As far back as 400 B.C., physicians and philosophers blamed behavioral changes on the pull of the moon. The word “lunatic,” after all, came from the idea that changes in mental state were related to lunar cycles. But then, across many behavioral studies they've found out that the human body has adapted to eons of exposure to daylight and darkness.
This has led to the development of circadian rhythms that affect many of your body’s systems, not just your sleep-wake cycle. Circadian rhythms affect your physical and mental health, too and increase symptoms of such mental health disorders.
Marvel always deliver their goods right on the spot! I love how they've turned each one of us to be a detective of our very own and scrutinize every single frame of their masterpiece.
I really hope moon knight is not just lunatic knight. :D
@@hpmc7426 😂😂 very well translated
Very fascinating stuff. This episode was mind blowing. I loved all of the imagery and the little clues of could be Marc's mind, or a delusion. It was very well done.
I feel like MARC knows about the third personality. I think it was created/popped up before Steven but Marc suppressed it due to it being to violent. Notice how Marc wasn't surprised to see the other sarcophagus but Steven was?
Yes... I thought the same... Steven is what Marc want him to be in real life. Kind-hearted, lovable. Whereas Jack is what Marc afraid of.. being more violent. So he knows about Jack but don't want him. That's why in last episode after waking up he knows Steven didn't kill those guys and just move on to the mission.
No he doesn't , in ep 3 both steven and marx question themselves who did the killing
@@maruthenoiseless4464 I think he does know. He questions Steven about the killing because until that moment, he thought his other alter, Jake, was still locked away in his mind (like Steven was supposed to be).
@@maruthenoiseless4464 if he really did know, he probably was just surprised that jack managed to take over after marc suppressed him all this time.
@@samuelburton302 ok but he was still confused after steven said no
Now Oscar Isaac singing the "Hippopotamus Song" on Jimmy Fallon makes WAY more sense. Sneaky sneaky.
Ah yes!
Good connection
OMG! Yes!!! Layers upon layers! Mr. Issac, why you... tricky tricky fella'. 😄
My wife and I both had the thought that the "hospital" at the end was either a representation of the field of reeds, or it is the inside of the characters mind and since both steven and Marc are in here it means someone else is in control of the body
Yes I thought the same too…since both Marc and Steven meet there it’s probably Jake who is in control and he has locked up all the characters that Marc/Steven have met
one of my freinds sugested that harrow shot him twice to kill both marc and steave but they are still alive because jake is still in there
The work that goes into MCU shows is now beyond immense. Imagine the crew that come up with all these connections, to connections, to references, to connections..... Mind. Blowing.
Minor thing, if you take a closer look at the bingo card in the promo images, and within the episode, it uses numbers that aren't valid on a US bingo card, IE larger than 75. However, British Bingo cards, also called Housie, use the numbers from 1 to 90. This could be an indication of the mental split between Mark and steven, merging the US and UK bingo cards.
Been scrolling through comments looking for someone who mentions something about the bingo cards. I think your on track... but also notice how the letters make partial up of "Moon Knight"... so is another depiction of "3" being shown here? Playing Bingo, using British numbering, and blending in letters of "Moon Knight". Something a person experiencing symptoms of paranoia might do in their heads, second guessing everything thing around them.
Another comparison is when the sarcophagus is introduced. It mirrors when Steven found Marc's bunker. He essentially found himself. Steven found Marc. Marc found Steven. The hug signifies this.
I'm happy that they were so excited to see each other
Agreed - Marc/Steven will only be whole when they recognize their DID and free the 3rd (+) personality and reconcile. They all need each other - Steven needs Marc to be the muscle, Marc needs Steven to be the brains, and they both need Jake to do the dirt - what does Jake need from Steven/Marc? My guess is to be accepted!
@@StephenMangiulli what do u mean by 'do the dirt'?
A cool foreshadowing is how Steven jokingly asks Marc if he will drown them in the water when they enter the tomb because he kissed Layla. And then at the end of the scene, harrow shoots Marc and he falls into the water
Which also kinda eludes to Marc's brother drowning when they were young. Makes it really dark though.
It’s interesting because Steven Grant appears to come out of a pharaoh’s sarcophagus but the other sarcophagus looks less royal as if it belonged to a servant or guardian of the pharaoh. They’re usually buried with the pharaoh they served to assist them in the afterlife!
This episode gave a close-up of Layla's face and that's all that matters
Lol
Beautiful Women

This episode took a massive left turn, & I’m all for it.
This is the text I sent my brother this morning, word for word.
Crazy there’s only 2 episodes left
From the trailers there is a clip showing mark on the floor of harrows office. From that you could tell some version of this scenario would play out
@@twilson3133 I'm excited for the last 2 ep. Damn I wish they'd just drop it now.
So far moon knight is the only Disney series I’ve been keeping up with up to date. Which is a good thing because I didn’t know of moon knight in the past until this year lol and I’m down for a season 2 & 3
25:16 multiple people in one body means that body could be considered to be exceptionally “fertile,” but in Episode 5, we learn Marc “gave birth” to Steven and Jake in order to escape his reality.
It’s also kind of cool how in harrows office it looks like the pillars are covering up major damage to the walls. This could be symbolic of harrow putting on his cult like leader appearance, when he is really just as damaged as he calls Steven.
The fact that Marc and Steven are seperate people now easily shows the mental hospital is probably purgatory or the Egyptian afterlife.
Yeah that’s what I was thinking. Past avatars/people that are now dead, that were once used by gods for their human body form.
Truely
i don't think so, why would all those people who we know are alive be in purgatory or the afterlife? I believe it's just Marc's consciesce since Marc and Steven (and Jack lockey, still not out just like he's still not introduced to the other alters) are different identities in Marc's mind
they're definitely in the Egyptian purgatory
@@Tomdenskie I don't believe Egypt has a purgatory, Duat is the realm of the dead. Why would so many alive people be in "purgatory"? Why would it be structured as a mental hospital? Why would alters have their own body?
I love how they both had different screams.
The pyramid on the desk is the pyramid paperweight he acknowledged he got at the paperweight store in E2.
and Steven backs off while Marc, tho' screaming, holds his ground
The saying actually goes more like “when Alexander heard that there were other worlds, he wept, for he had still to conquer one” but you can probably still interpret that
Luckily for him he never tried Kush....as the Romance legends claims...he'd have gotten his ass handed to him.
What if: Arthur shot twice, and “killed” Steven and Marc, but Jake is still alive and now controlling the body because he hasn’t been sho by Arthur. That would be a great introduction of Jake in this series.
Pretty sure DID doesn’t work that way...
@@dreww304 Its the mcu, its did influenced by a lot of magic
@Adam Craig underrated comment. Young ones prolly won't get it
@@babiboy181 how young
@@silly_on_ the young ones
the hospital might be the headspace for mark and steven. Many people with DID talk about having a headspace where their alters can interact with each other in mind. Mark being shot and passing out could have caused him to retreat back into the headspace with steven.
Like crazy Jane in DC. That’s a good observation!
Yeah! I thought it might be the inner world too!
Maybe it's a blend between inner worlds and the afterlife?
@@alexeliz75 the Egyptians believed that your afterlife would b shaped on what your lifestyle was like. Since all three personalities would be "dead" as their body is no longer functional they would all be in the same afterlife. I think it's a medical center because of the DID condition and how Steve said and thought he had a sleeping disorder
The pen that Ethan Hawke's character at the end has is a LAMY safari fountain pen. What I find interesting is that the little brown cardboard ring that prevents the ink capsule from entering the feed for the nib is still on the pen. This means that the pen Ethan Hawke is holding has never been used before. This is either a mistake on the prop department or could have some deeper meaning to it, maybe more evidence that the ending actually takes place in Marc’s and Steven’s mind.
I thoroughly enjoy another pen enthusiast. Haha. Good call, and I didn't even notice 🤫
I love this incredibly niche piece of knowledge
If it's a deeper meaning, then it's symbolizing that everything is in Marc's head. He has created Harrow into the psychiatrist
@@iSkiZm24 i mean, the asylum itself swayed for a second. also sarcophagi in a mental asylum? and then TWO MARC SPECTORS? he's clearly making death saving throws.
@@iSkiZm24 Well there is no reality. Everything is in everyone's head.
Did you know that the film crew for moon night actually found the long lost tomb of Alexander the Great just for this scene. It's amazing the lengths that they go to
That’s not impressive at all. It would have been better if they actually brought him back to life to shoot a few scenes.

Missed one thing - the room that he's in with Harrow at the end, is the same room that Steven encountered the (invisible) hound with Layla. The arch on the right is the most noticeable continuation
THIS is the comment I was looking for. I thought maybe I’d imagined it because no one was saying anything and I was too lazy to go back and rewatch the episode. I recognized it immediately.
How? Steven and Layla encountered the hound in London at one of Harrows facilities. Harrow shots Marc and Steven in Egypt not even the same country. If anything it’s a similar design because Harrow idolizes Egyptian culture.
@@mackmortis9326 because the whole hospital is a construct of Marc's mind?
@@beppo2814 wow good point, I didn't logically connect it - like if the room is in both situations, and the first scenario has more reasons to be real (more characters engaging/reacting to it, connected to overall story) than the second, then most likely the first one was the real one and second all in his head.
I think Harrow's office space is weird because it's modeled like the commune architecture in episode 2.
the office is the room steven jumps out the window of in the commune
Yes, I saw the same set as well.
Harrow only shot marc/steven twice, thinking he would kill both of them in the same body, but he didn't know that there is a third person inside that will resurrect all 3 of them from death.
Jake
How would that make any sense?
@@NoThankYouToocause Jake is the one locked away, not freed.
@@murk4552 that doesn’t answer his question. I know it’s all fictional but i still i don’t see how this would make sense. I think it’s just symbolic.
But he got shot in the heart and they share a body. I guess if magic and souls come into play your right
Just an observation, when marc drifted after being shot, the light shifts to glow like the mind stone. Theorizing...i think this is a mental oasis between mind and soul. His mind is unbalanced..chaotic and seperated. This episode was the first where the mind connected without fighting for the body. (Marc & Steven) in the tomb! The real issue has always been the 3rd personality...marc and steven only recently were disconnected (episode2) cause he said he used to have it under control. Soooo...the chaos in his mind is coming from the 3rd personality. (Esophagus red) "cant have enlightenment, until acceptance of darkness,".....the 3 minds must connect as one. (Triad) to be rejuvenated/rebirthed.
Are you being paid to comment this?
@@rudyharrifshariman5126 why would i need to be paid to make a comment
I thought it was interesting that they foreshadowed Marc being shot because he said that earlier when Layla’s father was killed, he, Marc, was also shot and was supposed to be killed. In that instance, he did not die. I’m hoping that that is a hint that he’s not dying in the current moment of the story. Or at all.
Whenever Marc wins at Bingo, Layla says "You won, we won, I won" I'm not sure what this means but it seems significant
And did he ever actually get a bingo? I saw the card and it didn’t look filled unless I missed something

I don't think they are suggesting frenchie killed Layla's father, I think they are suggesting Bushman did it, since he killed Marlene's (comic book Layla) father in the comics.
THANK YOU. I don’t know why he suggested Frenchie as the one to execute the archeologists when Raoul Bushman did it in the comics and is a core part of Marc’s history in becoming Moon Knight by being saved from Khonsu. I hope we see Bushman adapted in the second season
@@KevinLopez-dm2tb yeah sure they said he's not in the season but that doesn't mean he isn't part of marc's past.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Makes way more sense they were hinting at Bushman. Even though they change things in the MCU, I think they’re gonna stay pretty close his comic book origin.
I feel like they might change it so Jake takes on the role as bushman which is why Marc has tried to keep Jake from taking over
The "vases" in Harrow's office are Canopic jars, used in mummification. Each lid depicts a different god and there's usually 4
I hope we get more moon knight after this series in movies. I know this is going to be a limited series without a second season but we need more moon knight
Harrows office is actually the storage room from episode two that Steven and Layla lock themselves in before the creature attacks! Go to ~33:50 in episode two and you can see the room from relatively the same angle.
The mental hospital also reminded me of the nursing home for old Egyptian gods in Rick Riordan's Kane series
Nice catch

I'm surprised you didn't mention this, but the figure on "asylum Harrow's" desk had a goat head, which reminded me of the goat on the archway. And looking back, the central statue in the Ennead meeting had goat horns. So I looked into, and there is a goat-headed Egyptian God called Khnum, who is said to have created the Nile, humankind, and the other gods. Might be an indicator of their involvement in the plot in the next two episodes, possibly in some power struggle amongst the gods.
In the credits this week, Ethan Hawke had Konshu behind him. I haven’t noticed that in the previous episodes. I think it might be a clue that he is still beholden to Konshu in some way and is in on Marc’s current situation.
No he always had Khonshu behind him. You can re-watch the last 3 eps.
Worth noting that the sphinx is entirely greek - the title of sphinx (the word, not necessarily the creature) was given to the statue after the fact.
I just got annoyed reading an article about this calling Alexander a "colonizer" haha like.. literally every major empire in the east, west, and south america had conquerors, it isn't just some evil Western thing
The Arab world and Africa had one of the most brutal slave trades for millenium, every culture did that crap. It's just sad as a history buff to see major historical figures written off like that haha, he was honorable to those he defeated and isn't like some secret monster like Columbus
@@KaladinVegapunk what a sad world we live in
Yes, and the word “sphinx” means strangler or the throttler.
I feel like the ending was more of a representation of an in between world. Where this is all in his mind. Hence the “fall” in the water.
An opposite of Inception, where falling backwards in water takes you out of the dream reality.
I love this episode mainly because how happy they are to see one another but also it was really trippy but i feel like the asylum was a look inside marc’s mind
I just noticed the main room in the psychiatric part where harrow is, is the same room when Steven jumped out the window.
I think the fly that lands on him is the moment he starts realizing what's going on, Marc brings up in episode 2 about it takes all of his might to be just "a fly on the wall" maybe that is homage to that. That it is taking all of his might right now to "WAKE UP."
The Directors of the ep, Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, actually said in an interview they did w/ with EW that "There's this wonderful take where a fly lands on his hand on accident. That's a real fly!".
Pretty cool how things just happen like that and actually do make their way into working as actual references.
I think the fly is a callback to Marc's line in episode 2 "sometimes it takes all your willpower just to be a fly on the wall"
That hug was so sweet. It wasn't just a normal hug, they were happy to see each other even though they haven't gotten along that well. Like brothers.
23:42 I think most ppl found the horror moments in the tomb genuinely creepy/ scary rather than silly tbh
Not me
Marc's partner who betrayed him was Bushman, not Frenchie.
Yeah I was confused why he said that lol, how did he mix those 2 up.
Yeah Frenchie was a mercenary but he was Marc's ally. Bushman double crossed him and shot him, Marc crawls to Konshu statue and gets resurrected.

@@OpinionParade then why do we not see Layla in one of the sarcophagus' in the asylum. They also fought simultaneously during episode 3 at Mogart's place. With Beck acknowledging Layla separate from Marc
This episode reminded me of the movie, "The Attic Expeditions". They were basically convincing the main character that he was crazy so that they could extract information from him. He's probably half dead and Harrow is trying to figure out where the last statue is by making him think that he's just talking to a therapist and not a sociopathic avatar that wants to end the world.
Yeah I mean as soon as Marc said you shot me Harrow just looked at him not saying a word until Marc started to escape
I like the idea that Ethan Hawke shot him twice as if shooting both Marc and Steven, maybe that means the 3rd personality now has the body until they return to it. Feels like the sorta twist marvel loves
In the book series “Kane Chronicles” written by Rick Riordan about Egyptian mythology there is a chapter where the heroes went to the underworld and visit a “asylum” for old forgotten Gods, and this episode reminded me of that

Those jars are called "Canopic Jars" and depict the four sons of Horus, not the Gods. Which is Hapi, the baboon-headed God. ((Which matches similarly to that smaller statue in the opening you pointed out.)) Duamutef, the Jackal-Headed God. Imsety, the Human-Headed God. And Qebehsenuef, the Falcon-Headed God. Each are for a specific part of the organs and each protected by a Goddess as well. Nephthys, Neith, Isis, and Serqet being the four that protect them.
Just wanted to let you know, since Egyptian Mythology is my favorite and wanted to give you some correct info.
Oh also fun fact, Egyptians believed that the afterlife was based on your lifestyles. So it would fit into his afterlife from being shot being built around his life of him seeing himself as someone in a mental asylum.
I thought Anubis was the Jackal Headed God? Not doubting you or anything, just not familiar with the gods you named :)
@@belthizor There are multiple jackal headed gods and Anubis is one of them. Horus is another falcon headed god and There is another Egyptian god who is named Hapi and that Hapi is the god of the Nile.
@@JediBlueDog the more you know. Thank you :)
@@belthizor You’re welcome.
Been waiting for someone to mention about the afterlife scenes. I also felt the goat standing on the arch is a subtle nod to Khnum, the god that created the Nile as well as helping the dead receive a favourable judgment in the afterlife.
I would love this series to end with maybe either a mention or a glimpse of a character known as Apocalypse…. It would make sense since he is considered maybe the first mutant and was an Egyptian god. So it would make sense that he would be part of moonknight world…. Maybe even set up the coming of mutants to the Marvel cinematic universe
I believe there is a reason to why the two personalities have a different colored sarcophagus. Steven's is more bright and light color and Jake is a dark red color, which probably means they are depicted as Marc's angel and devil on his shoulders. Steven is a good person and doesn't want to harm or kill anyone and Jake will stop at nothing to get what he wants so he would resort to violence.
Is no one going to talk about how Steven drew that Eye of Horus perfectly in sand?
That was so satisfying how he did that haha
He’s a dreamy nerd, fully capable of such things 😂
11: 37 I actually think that this partner is Jake. Marc watching from behind Jake's eyes and then after Jake kills the archeologists he attempts to kill himself and Marc. Injuring the brain so Jake lays dormant and the experience was so traumatic so the brain creates Steven in the process of Khonshu choosing Marc.
Or I'm just pushing it, but it would be interesting to see
Seems very interesting.
WOAH
that would actually be a really interesting change up from the comics!
That ending had me rollin! Mark and Stevens reaction to the Hippo God is priceless. 🤣🤣🤣
I think they’ll find khonshu in the place they’re currently in, it’s like a separate dimension of the Egyptian gods. The ones which have been banished and that is why Steven and Marc are there, because they were important to khonshu and had a connection with the Egyptian gods
I’m still wrapping my head around that final 10 minutes, one of the best MCU moments period no questions asked
Ya, crazy but cool
The last scene when they were screaming was so funny
Was it though
@@healthiswealth1452 yes yes it was
@@klewandowski193 what made it funny? They where just screaming
Erik’s delivery of this 😂😂 5:32
It's unlikely but it could be that Stevens still passed out in the desert and this episode is in his head. Considering how out for the count he is and even rolling down the hill doesn't wake him up, then suddenly he's just standing behind Layla.
Then in the final 2 eps, we have the origin story, he wakes up and they save Konchu/go for Harrow for real.
I like the idea that Reel Rejects put in my head that he's on a boat traveling through the Duat right now (not the Field of Reeds), keyed in by the way the lights and carts were moving in the hallway swaying and rolling like Mark/Steven are on a watercraft. I don't think he's going to actually be dead though, but we'll see in the last episode. I have a feeling he's going to get all the way through the Duat and then come upon the scales where his heart will be weighed (where Ammit usually is to devour the heart of those deemed 'sinners' as their heart is heavier than the feather of Maat) and something will happen there that will free Khonshu and stop him from dying. All just speculation of course, but I think it would be awesome to see Anubis since he's the judge of the dead and one of the closer gods to Ammit in the mythology as they essentially work together.
I love this idea!
This is very plausible
Love the idea! But what is the differences between the Duat, and the Field of Reeds? Is it like Hell and Heaven?
@@snigdha8404 the Duat is the place dead people go to, the Field of Reeds is kinda like Heaven in a way that people can go there once the scales say they're good
Why would Marc’s friend Frenchie be the one who shot him, and not Bushman? You know the one who did it in the comics.
Right? It would be a huge left turn if they made Frenchie a villain and back stab Marc and not keep the Bushman origin as that’s a core part of Marc’s history and how he was saved from Khonsu
I heard Jake could've been the one to do it, and Marc tried to end his life out of regret
@@contentcorsair Doubt it
@@contentcorsair definitely not
2:09 i got akatsuki pain vibes from this shot the background sounds 🔥
I think he is protected aginst death as there are 2 easter eggs in this episode which directly suggest the same-
1. the 1st when both enter the tomb/cave and see those huge animal structures [who he calls protection against death in afterlife]
2. ofc toweret who is also goddess of rejuvenation.
You're assuming his partner who killed all those people was Frenchie Duchamp, Marc's longtime sidekick and pilot? And NOT Raul Bushman... the character in the comics that is the one that does all those things?
Yeah I don’t think he would try to call him if he tried to kill him, but you never know
THANK YOU. I don’t know why he suggested Frenchie as the one to execute the archeologists when Raoul Bushman did it in the comics and is a core part of Marc’s history in becoming Moon Knight by being saved from Khonsu. I hope we see Bushman adapted in the second season
@@KevinLopez-dm2tb there's a second season? I thought this is just a miniseries?
@@g.dochev as of right now there's no second season announced
I think he just mispoke and mixed the two up. Cuz if not it may be one of eriks worst theories yet lol.
The way Marc was sinking down in the water reminded me very much of Get Out, when he was trapped in his mind
When i see someone falling like this my head always goes
🎶At skyfall...🎶
Something in the way mmmmmm
Plus the constant ticking in the score and the ward clock not moving. They're DYING and this is the internal space for Marc and his alters to have strategy session to NOT die.

You forking CALLED IT
The statuette on ‘Harrow’’s desk in the mental asylum at the end of episode 4 that is they weirdly focus on, is not Ammit as you might think, it’s actually a representation of Sobek (the crocodile god who wears that particular gate-like headpiece) who, if you’re well-up in your Egyptian mythologies, you’ll know is associated with the healing of Osiris after his violent death in the myth (just like Marc/Steven’s “death” in the tomb). So I think this may be a niche Easter egg to their eventual rebirth into the real world, this is ofc backed up by the very real hippo goddess (Taweret) who arrives who is also heavily associated with fertility and rebirth
The ending just blown my mind 🤯
when the fly lands on him, it could've symbolised a persona being present, as in an earlier ep marc says how you have to use all your might to be just a fly on the wall.
Funnily enough, the fly landing on Marc was apparently unintentional. It just happened and they caught it on camera and decided to throw it in because it helped break up the steady shot of Harrow talking
@@wafflemansfx oh right haha that’s pretty cool. The fly was a paid actor
The Ancestral Plane, Valhalla, "Wherever the hell Thanos went to". That made my day.
I have been waiting for this break down!
I like the idea that the afterlife is a subjective experience rather than one place for everyone. It opens up the possibilities without contradicting each other
Yeee! Everyone has their own subjective special way of seeing the afterlife, everyone is different after all-
I really don't see how you guys manage to put these highly detailed dives into the episodes together so quickly after an episode airs. It must be quite hectic to find all the various trivia.
Or Erik is a freak and we love that
They probably have watched the episodes, some if not all, before there official release, private screening or something like that from Marvel
I absolutlely love this level of analysis, symbolic interpretation, and attention to details! I feel so at home with these videos...
4th option: The 'dream' is a place for Harrow to influence him after he got knocked out from changing the sky.
In the ward, Crawley is heard the most throughout calling out the numbers almost excessively when he's otherwise known to be a silent statue. Steven is the only one we see interact with Crawley, and wouldn't be able to hear him from the sarcophagus in the ward.
Thts interesting 🤔
As an Assassin's Creed fan, I felt like Steven this whole episode. The way he explores the maze like a nerd, the fact that he and Layla travel through the desert of Siwa and the reference to a medjay last episode reminded me of Bayek of Siwa from Origins.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed that! When it was mentioned to search for a medjay, I was like Bayek!
Glad I wasn’t the only one nerding out with them
My knowledge of Egyptian myth and culture geeked out once Hathor mentioned a Medjay
whenever I hear medjay I think of assassins creed and the mummy
I think that the mental hospital is an illusion sort of thing not only bc of the assortment of things that don't make sense, but also we only see this hospital from Marks perspective, unlike in the other episodes where we see from his wife's perspective and others of the sort
The mental hospital reminded me of the nursing home for old Egyptian gods in Rick Riordan's Kane series
The ending was mind blowing! Can’t wait to watch episode 5!!
You sure this isn't a dream
Well apparently marvel accidentally released episode 5 for review like 2 weeks early. Only like 3 people got to see it but all 3 said it's some of the darkest content marvel has ever done including the Netflix shows. Didn't say violent just dark. Hmm 🤔
@@TikkiEXX uhhh are you high??? I dont believe a single word of that sentence. as no one should either?

I do belive that everything in the series is real but when marc gets shot we see inside the mind of marc and stephen or marc/stephen are just in the afterlife.
Its Steven with a V
come on people get it right
Steven with a *V*
Thank you I needed this I was sooo confused on this episode 🙏
Also keep up the work
At 20:44, doesn't the VHS box say 'When danger is here, Steven Grant has no fear."? Looks more like danger than deeper.
Not knowing anything about moonlight prior to this series, I’m enjoying it. The hippo at the end really threw me. Thanks for the explanation
MOONLIGHT 🌙
1. Set is Horus's uncle. Not brother
2. Marc's partner whom he had mentioned was Raul Bushman. Not Jean-Paul Duchamp
Im really wondering if he actually read comics now, how could you could think frenchie does that when Bushman literally does it in the comic
He is his brother and uncle in different lifetimes
Excellent review !
The fly might also remind mark of Steven because he told Steven “most of the time it would take all his energy just to be a fly on the wall”
