I apologize for being late to the party but starting with this episode, I will be breaking down each and every episode of #MoonKnight even the ones that I didn't do yet. alright bye
I also like that whenever Mr. Knight shows up his suit is in a very warm tone, while Moonknight has a colder white to it. It implies the humbler personality of Steven and the more ruthless of Mark.
My theory is that, whenever any of the personalities give the body willing, the transition is smooth, however when any of them take the body by force they suffer a mini seizure
8:58 More clever writing I noticed: Khonshu speaks through Steven saying that Harrow is guilty of *conspiracy* to release Ammot. Not completely releasing Ammot, simply conspiracy. Khonshu stuck to his ideals.
I personally don’t think the “seizure” transitions mean lockley is taking over. I think the transitions are only seamless when an identity willingly gives the body to another, and that when an identity takes over forcefully or a shock makes another personality take over, it is brutal for the body and causes a mini seizure
This exactly. Later in the episode Steven switches with Marc (when Layla triggers him out to confront him about her dad) and they show that rolled-back eye thing. Edit: Oops that was episode 4. Point still stands
Jake is also foreshadowed in ep 1. When Steven is getting ready for the date, you can see him in 3 mirrors. Implying that there are 3 characters in 1 body
The fact that Khonshu followed Ammit's rule while convicting Harrow for a crime he did not commit yet was something I had not noticed. It was smart of you to catch that detail.
@@SilvesterBoots I meant to say that Khonshu, who has a different policy of justice, and who is currently kind of an enemy to Ammit, used his logic to convict Arthur.
The main argument against harrow is that maybe, along the way people can change. You can't punish someone for something they haven't done, yes, but if that person is actively seeking to do it, punishment is arguable
I don't think so. Imagine you know someone who is about to commit a crime (but he hasn't yet), your first response will definitely be to tell the police about that guy and try to stop him. On the same note, if Khonshu knows that Harrow is definitely on a bad track, he'd want to stop it. Khonshu is more flexible
Khonshu didn't accuse Arthur of something he hadn't done yet. He literally said "Conspiracy to release Ammit" which is exactly what he was attempting to do. He didn't go against his values in that accusation.
The show is honestly amazing. They put in so much details and references and Oscar’s acting is top tier. Fun fact Layla in Arabic means night which I think they used because of the theme of the series so it’s a nice detail they added. :)
Another detail, the lyrics of the song that plays in the opening and ending credits says “I cherish/appreciate your company when you are with me” a very famous old song in Egypt and the Arab World. It shows that Marc and Steven kind of need each other to survive and like you said Steven is everything Marc wants to be, love Mohamed Diab for including that song
based on what we’ve been seeing of jake being the more brutal one i would wager that if marc is the main personality and he created the steven and jake as the two extremes of his personality. someone honest and good made to perserve what marc felt like he lost and couldn’t have like his love for layla. i see jake then being a more unstoppable force thag marc tries so hard to lock up that he doesn’t even remember him when he takes over, not wanting to accept that dark side of him
DID is a very complicated disorder alternate personalities are often the part you want to suppress or part you want to be steven is the part marc wants to be and jake is the part he wants to supress this show is just great and oscar Isaac deserves an award for this performance
Love your episodes, but Mark/Steven don’t only have a seizure when Jake takes control, during the fight in Episode 3, Mark is choking some guy and Steven takes control, but the seizure effect happens. I think the seizures only happen when the body is TAKEN from each other, rather than given.
There's actually one small detail that i noticed and hasn't seen anyone else talk about this. When Steven checks his phone's call log in episode 1, there is another name called 'Duchamp' in it other than Layla. It only appears one time. In the comics, Jean-Paul Duchamp is the best friend of Marc Spector. Duchamp, aka Frenchie, met Marc while they were serving as mercenaries in North Africa. Frenchie also served as Marc's pilot. This all happened pre-Khonshu when Frenchie and Marc were working with Raul Bushman. Eventually, Marc realizes Bushman is a no-good-very-bad person and turns on him. It's here that Marc is left for dead but is saved by Khonshu.
12:39 we see Mark loose the body to Steven with the seizure effect.... that proves the switch btn mark and steven is not always smooth. It is smooth only when they agree to switch
I didn't know anything about Moon Knight until watching the show, so you mentioning Jake as a third persona took me by surprise but I think it makes perfect sense!
at the screaming scene mark and steve both follow their character like. " mark stand at his position and make fist to prepare himself for fighting or defence" other side "steve step back and look a like he trying to escape like his character
Thanks, I understand so much more about what is going on in this show now. I have seen others speculate about Jake but you're the first to show proof of that likely being the case. The whole seamless switching between Marc and Steven, is a contrast to them and Jake, it makes sense the switch is harsh as neither seems to know of Jake so its like he is ripping control from them both. Many other details have been missed by others. Thank you Mr. Lad

I have feeling that is lockley and this entire sequence is happening in the mind of mark. We'll see if it's true tho.
@@yamadakuree9123 no. Marc is a fighter not an assassin. Steven is a nerd. Marc and Steven know each other but there is another personality which both of them are unaware of.

In my opinion; I think the mini siezures happen when the body is being taken over by a personality by force. And the reason the transition between the "Marc" and "Steven" alters is so smooth is because they have sort of a mutual understanding
As the Canadian lad mentioned that the moon is slowly emerging to a full moon in the credits it could mean that we will see a full moon and marc spector using his powers at his full form!
Firstly, huge applause and for your effort you make in every 0.25x speed breakdown. But, with all due respect I gonna point out one wrong theory here :( @ 4:05 you can see that Marc aka steven was looking at the taxi's rear view mirror it should be obvious that steven was in control and then unfortunately he looks in the mirror and turns back to Marc. Same can be found happening with Marc when he saw his reflection on the knife during the fight scene @ 3:31 and also in all previous 2 episodes this seems to be the main ideology. Look into and correct me if I'm wrong in any ways but, it's not an offense comment. Again huge shout out for this amazing contents you have curated.!! Keep it up and more to come!!
Excellent explanation many details found by you were helpful...l am having 2 issues with your explanation: 1)you said that transition between Marc and Steven was smooth, but one scene shows the transition from Marc to Steven took place like Jake Lockley it's in your video too at 12:36 2)Arthur Harrow, wants Ammit to be released,so he approaches desert...when he is called by Gods for judgement..he tells a lie that he has come to visit desert..which itself lying is a sin and Ammit punishes the sinful people,so Harrow is releasing Ammit to be murdered?? The second point must be a drawback of the Marvel Studios...
If you pay attention closely you can see that when steven is reaching for ammit's statue in alexander's throat when the reflection tells him "yes, get in there" you can see that it has a mustache and its prbly jake's reflection not marc

Great video, those were really interesting details. I was confused about your assertion that the seizures only happen when switching to and from Jake, but in the fight scene, when he switches from Marc to Steven, there is a seizure even though nothing changes in the scene and Jake doesn’t appear. When he switches back to Marc, I could understand jake stepping in and breaking the second shaft, but I don’t think so. Don’t mean to be a buzzkill, just pointing it out.
Your breakdowns are the best I ever watch. I’ve actually seen the whole Moon Knight series and I swear your breakdown is so spot on. I sometimes think you work for these companies bro. Keep up the good work. You’re great!
Thank you for the great breakdowns. You're focused on details and explain them in logical manner (unlike the other channel who gets us crazy with their wild theories)
I'm confused about the seamless and forced personality change. A comment said that the transitions are seamless when they both agree to switch, but when it's forced the screen would go black a few times. I disagree really because Steven was stabbed by two poles and willingly gave Marc the body, but the transition seemed forced, and Marc was in control, showing that Lockley wasn't involved. So idk, I just wanted to point that out
7:11 Pretty sure that isn't Khonshu's shadow, he's walking under an archway or something... It covers too much of Marc's body to be Khonshu. And maybe the VFX artist just forgot to give Khonshu a shadow. The VFX in this show has been a bit jank at times.
i love all of this but it drove me freaking WILD that Marc never mentioned that Harrow had the SCARAB not once. i feel like if he just brought that up they woulda gave Harrow a bit more trouble.
Fr. Also Khonshu not mentioning that Harrow has the cane from Ammit's first avatar. That would already be a red flag against Harrow already. Not to mention the marks on their hands...
I appreciate that you pointed out Isaac's talent in this series. There's no doubt in my mind that if this were a feature length movie, Isaac would be nominated for an Academy Award. That might sound far-fetched, but the Academy has a knack for nominating actors portraying range, even in the unlikeliest of movies; case in point, John Lithgow - nominated in 1985 for playing Dr, Emilio Lizardo/Lord John Whorfin in Buckaroo Banzai and Robert Downey Jr. - nominated in 2008 for Kirk Lazarus/Lincoln Osiris in Tropic Thunder.
Thanks Canadian Lad. I have a prediction that sometime in the near future, your channel will become the most important channel for movies and open up a genre of UA-cam content where movies no longer give overly detailed exposition and we have to rely on brilliant content makers like yourself for the contexts and hidden details. Love it man! I'd have it no other way tbh. By the way did you make a video about Dune yet?
there was one detail u missed. When Marc was fighting the guys on the roof right before the fight Oscar Isaac made his voice a little less deep but then he later changes back to his normal voice. The slightly less deep voice probably represents Jake and the normal voice represents Marc.
With the jake lockley theory the old man ( sorry I can’t remember his name ) said to the gods council, “who knows how many personalities he has in there”
I disagree with your analysis of who is taking over when. I do think that every time we see then switch it is between Marc and Steven until once or twice in ep3. What really stood out to me was the swap when they're trying to figure out the map in the desert. Normally we see him do the seizure thing when they swap but this time it was TOTALLY different and even had a weird sound accompanying it. She tells him they need Steven so Marc walks away and says something like "okay you're up." This change is different than any other change we've seen yet. 1st they normally say each others name and talk to each other a bit more when they switch on purpose. This time Marc said you're up and other personality said thank you but Marc didn't say Steven. Then Layla walks up and asks him IF HE IS STEVEN to which he DOES NOT ANSWER HER! Not with so much as a nod. His voice does not sound like Steven Grant to me in this scene. It lends to a scene in ep1 too. We've all been wondering WHO could have possibly asked Steven's coworker out on a date? Steven didn't even know about it, Marc has a wife who he loves and wants to protect. I think it was this 3rd identity disguising his voice to sound like Steven.
I apologize for being late to the party but starting with this episode, I will be breaking down each and every episode of #MoonKnight even the ones that I didn't do yet. alright bye

@@yamadakuree9123 no. Marc is a fighter not an assassin. Steven is a nerd. Marc and Steven know each other but there is another personality which both of them are unaware of.
@thecanadianlad So happy to have you a back!! You're details are always the best.
I hope everything in your personal life has settled down and you have found a new peace.
Wishing you health and happiness for all the joy you bring to the world. Can't wait to see all your future work!!
In my opinion; I think the mini siezures happen when the body is being taken over by a personality by force. And the reason the transition between the "Marc" and "Steven" alters is so smooth is because they have sort of a mutual understanding
watching this just in time for episode 4, the show is great so far and I can't wait to see where the story is taking us
15:20 does nobody think that this move by moon knight is hilarious, i mean it looks like a dance step..
As the Canadian lad mentioned that the moon is slowly emerging to a full moon in the credits it could mean that we will see a full moon and marc spector using his powers at his full form!
Great breakdown! Keep up the good work!
Missed your videos. You are back!!!!!
Firstly, huge applause and for your effort you make in every 0.25x speed breakdown. But, with all due respect I gonna point out one wrong theory here :(
@ 4:05 you can see that Marc aka steven was looking at the taxi's rear view mirror it should be obvious that steven was in control and then unfortunately he looks in the mirror and turns back to Marc.
Yea, it was only Steven and mark involved in that up until Jake took over and killed them
Excellent explanation many details found by you were helpful...l am having 2 issues with your explanation:
1)you said that transition between Marc and Steven was smooth, but one scene shows the transition from Marc to Steven took place like Jake Lockley it's in your video too at 12:36
2)Arthur Harrow, wants Ammit to be released,so he approaches desert...when he is called by Gods for judgement..he tells a lie that he has come to visit desert..which itself lying is a sin and Ammit punishes the sinful people,so Harrow is releasing Ammit to be murdered??
The second point must be a drawback of the Marvel Studios...
Who is here after episode 4?
WTF just happened in end!
Oscar Isaac is 🔥🔥
If you pay attention closely you can see that when steven is reaching for ammit's statue in alexander's throat when the reflection tells him "yes, get in there" you can see that it has a mustache and its prbly jake's reflection not marc
Literally watched the episode last night! Perfect timing as always!
Hey lad i would like to remember that you forget one episode of what if.. series. Plz still make video on it
And..doing great work❤
Really doing awesome work..
Yes he forgot 3rd episode..

Ngl, the "Aren't you coming with?" Part just sounded like slang to me when i first heard it.
I learned from a language around America book that: Some regions of the U.S. say, "Come with me" but other regions of the U.S. just say, "Coming with".
How you explain Marc's character at the end really speaks to me. Thanks Lad

*Watched Episode 4 It just blown my head 🤯🔥🥵*
Your breakdowns are the best I ever watch. I’ve actually seen the whole Moon Knight series and I swear your breakdown is so spot on. I sometimes think you work for these companies bro.
Keep up the good work. You’re great!

Is no one going to talk about Phastos showing up in the background of the bus in episode 1 for a split second?
Thank you for the great breakdowns. You're focused on details and explain them in logical manner (unlike the other channel who gets us crazy with their wild theories)
I'm confused about the seamless and forced personality change. A comment said that the transitions are seamless when they both agree to switch, but when it's forced the screen would go black a few times. I disagree really because Steven was stabbed by two poles and willingly gave Marc the body, but the transition seemed forced, and Marc was in control, showing that Lockley wasn't involved. So idk, I just wanted to point that out
Canadian Lad really tells us new information, I didn't notice the transitions between the personalities and yet he did. Great job, Lad!
When Steven says Calm the f out it could be a nod to when Starlord says chill the f out.
Had to re-watch that scene....and my god, camera is there..how Marvel can forget this to edit..is unbelievable....
7:11 Pretty sure that isn't Khonshu's shadow, he's walking under an archway or something... It covers too much of Marc's body to be Khonshu. And maybe the VFX artist just forgot to give Khonshu a shadow. The VFX in this show has been a bit jank at times.
That's not how it works lol
i love all of this but it drove me freaking WILD that Marc never mentioned that Harrow had the SCARAB not once.
i feel like if he just brought that up they woulda gave Harrow a bit more trouble.
Fr.
Also Khonshu not mentioning that Harrow has the cane from Ammit's first avatar. That would already be a red flag against Harrow already. Not to mention the marks on their hands...

Moon Knight always has his powers in the comics unless konshu takes them away.

Didn’t even notice the lack of shadows, good work as always!
14:14 there's shadow of konshu?
Thanks Canadian Lad. I have a prediction that sometime in the near future, your channel will become the most important channel for movies and open up a genre of UA-cam content where movies no longer give overly detailed exposition and we have to rely on brilliant content makers like yourself for the contexts and hidden details. Love it man! I'd have it no other way tbh. By the way did you make a video about Dune yet?
Not yet bro. It will be long though

no one gonna talk about how thick she is in this comic pic i mean the production accepted that

When Mark sad chill the f*** out, that the same thing that Deadpool said at the orphanage in Deadpool 2, when he was still a X-Men training
Congrats on making trending again!
there was one detail u missed. When Marc was fighting the guys on the roof right before the fight Oscar Isaac made his voice a little less deep but then he later changes back to his normal voice. The slightly less deep voice probably represents Jake and the normal voice represents Marc.
I'm so confused after watching episode 4, like why the hell is there a talking hippopotamus???? The ending just blew my mind off

With the jake lockley theory the old man ( sorry I can’t remember his name ) said to the gods council, “who knows how many personalities he has in there”
In 12:37 Marc's personality takes over with kinda of a sizure. Not like before
It’s funny how some of his theories were right in the next episode
12:10 random bs go!

Hands down for the performance by Oscar Isaac!!!
What a actor man!!!!

Imagine if Moon Knight and Deadpool are in the same room together, it would be very loud fight and tons of laugh...
