I love how you give the ratings at the beginning and then deeper details in the meat of the video. It builds anticipation and sets the atmosphere.

Shadowland is an amazing read! Peter Straub is one of my favorite authors. I'm currently reading Extremities by Kathe Koja.

I am so sorry you have been through so much this last month :( I hope you feel a bit better.
The first Riley Sager I read was the last time I lied and really enjoyed it. I like that his thrillers are not predictable and different than your typical thrillers.
I really wish all books would have trigger warning on the front or back pages so people can go check it if they know they are sensitive to some topics.

Glad to see you liked Shadowland! I was young when I read it, and it has stayed with me. The Wise Friend was decent but nothing special I agree with you on that one. Always good seeing your lists.

Wow, that's quite a list for the month. I just finished Devolution too and enjoyed it. I'm sure it's hard to write something as revolutionary as World War Z, but I thought the pacing was excellent and it was an interesting premise.

Taylor looking forward to your review of the dark tower series. It’s my absolute favorite book series across all the authors I read

Finally started with Survivor Song...I just wanted to look into the first 1 or 2 pages but then read the whole first chapter in a rush! Another fantastic one by Paul Tremblay as far as I can say by now...the pacing reminds me of Dunkirk. There seems to be a clock ticking the whole time in the background. And I very much enjoy the very realistic approach to these infected peoples tropes. So tense!

Sorry about your loss. Have you read Algernon Blackwood An Extraordinary Life by Mike Ashley a biography? I really enjoyed it, he was a fascinating man. I need to read it again and read the book of his short stories. I remember thinking The Willows was a great story. Also, Mr. Blackwood wrote an Autobiography of his younger years called Episodes Before Thirty that I got from the library I think it was the oldest library book I ever checked out, it was from 1924. I have Shadowland, the next book I'm going to read is Boy's Life by Robert R. McCammon which I've been meaning to read for years.

I also did not really enjoy Ghost Story. I really enjoyed The Deep, but I agree that it had its problems. I loved The Worst is Yet to Come and Survivor Song this month.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one. It's a classic in the horror community, but it just didn't click with me.

I think I will try something by Riley Sager soon...since many people dislike Final Girls but enjoyed some of his later stuff, I will skip that one ;-) I just finished The Only Good Indians and liked it, but I´m not already sure how much. A weird and somehow difficult read but one that sticked with me. After that I´m halfthrough with The Whisper Man and really like how creepy it is...a really solid Thriller just like I need right now :-)

And I really really enjoyed The Deep!! I liked it even more than The Troop because no other book before gave me that claustrophobic feel when they dive into the abyss. There are many people who mention that there are many plot points unsolved in the end but for me the ending was near perfect. Nick Cutter is my favourite author of that old school type of horror right now. I´m so excited to start with Little Heaven but I will wait till Halloween season with it maybe...perfect time :-)

I've been noticing your gonna need a bigger bookshelf haha. Btw I received a bunch of books these past weeks and only read Sky in the Deep by Adrienne Young. I loved it and I give it 5 Stars. Check it out.
