Abandoned Campground Heat Wave Stealth Camping

- I finally got to camp in a spot I've been checking out for quite a while. It's an abandoned campground in the city of Edmonton Alberta. This was a city-owned campground and now it's just used as a park. It was quite hot, quite busy, but made for a very fun stealth camping trip. There was a heat warning of course, but not quite too hot for camping like last week.

“They’ll all go back to their homes, watch TV, and I can get down to the business of making burritos in the woods.”
My favourite quote
lol facts
lol
Yes😂😂😂 one of my favourites also and there is a few love you Steve my friend 😂😂😂

If you REALLY want to be stealthy, you don't cook hot food. Can of spam, shnieders pepperetts, can of beans, crackers, V8. All that extra weight in gear. Especially when its bitch hot and you don't need the calories. More room for step 2. Also jeans aren't a good choice for outdoor activities.
Steve is the only person I know who can fold gear up and get it back in its original container/bag. I'm envious.
Just don’t be lazy
I know right? I always buy a slightly bigger bag for tents and sleeping bags
"Container/bag"? Uhh... bags ARE containers!
yeah just don't be lazy it's not that hard just try harder🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 also get a pump that suck as well as blows then you can empty the air our of it so you can get it back into the original package cause air prevents that big time
@@raven4k998 Gee, thanks. I guess you missed my tongue-in-cheek joke. I'll be sure to remember your tips the next time I go camping.
That dog came closer to catching Steve than any human ever has.
3:43 The dog saw him and smelled him. The dog would normally bark at someone hiding in the bushes but he admired Steve's stealth technique a little too much to give up his position. Not barking was the dog's way of tipping his hat to Steve.
@@IARRCSim The dog thought "well played... well played"
dogs have insane stats when it comes to sensing probably knew something was there even before it entered the bushes but has no issue with a non-threating human, so it was all good
There's just something oddly fascinating about these videos I'm a couple dozen in now and I just can't seem to stop watching.
I think it’s just really interesting to watch someone do something so unusual, in a very genuine and natural way (no crazy edits or “loudness” just a nice dude and a camera).
@@JasonandaCamera Fr. Part of it so appealing, bc he's actually genuine. And caring. But Doesn't care about content or making money off of it. Simply wants to share his adventures with us! Like you said no crazy editing, intro, thumbnails, no crazy endorsements in the middle of the video(would be ok if he started). But channels like his are simply not found on UA-cam or the internet anymore
I'm late to the party but I couldn't agree more!
I find them highly addictive too!
I feel the same.
I am thinking along the lines of "this isn't super entertaining but something about Steve's videos is incredibly fascinating and peaceful to me".
I never would have thought about watching stealth camping videos but here I am.
Maybe it's the connection to Steve as he is genuinely just talking to his audience without some motive

I really love the idea of making bean, rice, and cheese burritos as a camp-fare dinner but the one thing EVERYONE doesn’t do is reheat and partially toast their tortilla. If you hold the tortilla towards the open flame of your camp stove or burner and lightly toast it on both sides it totally makes a monumental difference in the overall texture and taste of not only the tortilla but it makes them so much easier to fold into your classic burrito shape. Even when you’re not camping, I recommend to do that on your home stove top providing you have a gas stove. It makes a world of Difference. Once you start toasting your tortillas over an open flame you will never eat a cold or room temperature one again! You can achieve the same thing on a grill by placing it on a grill grate for several seconds on each side or until you get some light grill marks. You just want them to get a little color on both sides. Then again I’m a professional chef. Either way I highly recommend it to those who’ve never done that to try it. You won’t regret it. Cheers!

Plenty of people pack it in pack it out, it is the others that wreck it for everyone sadly.
I don't think such people have been adequately called out. If they had any of their buddies say, "Hey, wtf, man?!" enough times, or flat out refuse to camp with them due to their littering behavior, then I think we could possibly see this sort of thing minimized.

For those not in the know Steve's choice of "step two" is two Alberta stories in one can.
Blindman Brewing is from Lacombe, Alberta and named after the Blindman River which is a tributary of the Red Deer River system in central Alberta.
"Five of Diamonds" refers to the classic lure pattern from Len Thompson Lures which is also located in Lacombe, Alberta. This company has made 55 million fishing lures since they opened over 90 years ago in 1929. A Len Thompson spoon is a classic for a reason, a real workhorse piece of tackle for northern pike, trout and salmon.
With an assortment of sizes and patterns of Len Thompson spoons and Panther Martin Spinners (made in Thornhill, Ontario) you can catch just about every fresh water fish in Canada.
Blindman Brewing makes fantastic beer.
To add to this, there is a giant five of diamonds lure as well as the Len Thompson trout pond in Lacombe to make sure you know it's the home of Len Thompson Lures!
I have to tease you, you said “you can catch just about every fresh water fish in Canada” so do just about all fresh water fish also visit Canada, and some get caught while there? If you have said: just about every KIND OF fresh fish, it wouldn’t have sounded like they all go there.
Anyway, THANKS for answering the question about the meaning of the names, it’s all very interesting. I’ve only been able to visit Canada once, some years ago. Beautiful place! It’s definitely on my list of places to visit & spend much more time, when I finally get the chance! In one video Steve was collecting fresh clean stream water from a pipe: AMAZING! There's a huge park by my house in Colorado and during lockdown I really missed camping and backpacking. So I made a ring in the park of old tree branches and then wove grasses and weeds into the perimeter to create like a natural fence. I thought for sure it'd be discovered, but for 8 months I camped there along the river. I even left an old tent and chairs there. From the trail it was almost invisible. Finally a homeless man moved in and I told him it's his if he wanted, and he still lives there
