Great video, Matt. I agree with you, totally. I love The Beatles' films, however, Help!, has always been my favorite. Growing up in Canada, I was able to see the film in August '65. I was only 8 years old so, my friends and I, were taken to the theatre by my babysitter (aged 16. my first true love.) and her friend. We managed to get tickets and good seats (in the middle). The usher told the girls that the movie was sold out. (The line outside was around the block.....remember those days?) Anyhow, it was an amazing Saturday afternoon and one I will never forget. I have the movie in Blu Ray & DVD, and, have watched it........I'm guessing well over 100 times. Some of my friends think I'm a Beatles' Fanatic and should seek professional help, however, that great memory keeps on living, every time I watch the film. Those people were my friends and I felt special just being around them. A few have passed on and, in a way. Help!, brings them back to me with great memories. Thanks again, Matt.

Thank you for this!! Fantastic collection of Help albums. And wow they really seam to be in the best shape ever. You must have treated'em like yr babies. The movie where they showed the film Help, it's gone now. The politicians made a parkingspace of it. But I saw the film four times in 1965.

The help movie also holds a very special place in my heart. It was the first movie ever that I remember seeing, as well as Help being the first song I remember hearing ever. I watched it over and over again when I was probably 2 and a half. I’ve loved it ever since. I have trouble deciding whether that’s my favorite or a hard day’s night. One morning I wake up and it’s help the next it’s a hard day’s night. But I sometimes don’t really care because I love them both.
Also your note about Mary Poppins in this video reminded me that it was that movie and Help were the two first movies that I remember seeing and watching them so many times.

I only have the USA version. I was young & didn't know there were other versions of the Help album. I'm happy with the 1 version & of course I have all the other songs too. Glad to see yuor passion for collecting & nice find in a little antique shop. Goes to show it never hurts to look around. Take care.

Couldn't agree more Matt, both the USA and UK versions are essential, great records and sleeves. Being from the UK I always loved the James Bond intro to the song Help!.Loved seeing the Uruguayian Help by the way and watching another of your entertaining 'shorties'. All the best, Chris

Hey Matt. I was a little older maybe 8 or 9. My big sister and her girl friend took me to see Help! I think it was at the Loring Hall in downtown Hingham. That place (as far as I know) is still a movie theater. Very Quaint typical New England. It looks like a church house without a steeple.

This one and the "Hard Day's Night" UK album and United Artists soundtrack are the only 2 US vs UK albums I have. They are both so good and so different - especially if you enjoy soundtrack/film score things. George Martin is on his game on both of those. So really cool to see "Socorro!" I would have picked it up as well. Thanx Matt for the video. Always good to hear from you. Hope you're doing well. Until next time, take care, my friend.

As always my friend another great video. I went to see A Hard Days Night on the big screen for the first time back in 2016 when there was a 6o's fest in my hometown of Derby, everything from fashion, books, movies and of course the music. I was blown away, it looked and sounded fantastic. Now I'd really love Apple/Subafilms who own the rights to Help to give it a new lease of life back on the cinema screen. It would be a great way to celebrate it's 60th anniversary next year. I love going to the movies and to see Help at my local cinema would be a blast. That album is very interesting, and if it had been me in that store I'd have grabbed it. I did the same a few years back when I picked up a copy of John's Live In New York City album in a charity store. I think it was a Bulgarian copy, still not sure, and it played perfect. As soon as I saw it I said to myself you are coming home with me.. Many thanks to you Matt for your video review of the Half Cubes new single. I have since streamed Phil Seymour's self titled album and I have got a vinyl copy on the way. I love it, once again you have introduced me to another great artist, though sadly no longer with us. I do seem to remember his single after seeing his video for it here on you tube from back in the day. Many thanks my friend and have a fab gear summer soundtracked by Help!

Wow Terry love your thoughts and memories here! I like your idea for a 60th anniversary celebration of Help! too. So sad about losing Phil so young. He was so talented, solo and with the Dwight Twilley band. I think you’ll love the “Phil Seymour” album! Great pure rock n roll and power pop with a nice mix of covers and originals! Elvis! Bobby Fuller etc! Such a great album, enjoy! 😎👍😊🙏🎸❤️🍻⚡️

I bought those Beatles versions back when I was in high school because they were as close to the UK versions that I was able to find. I can't remember where I bought them. I think I had Meet the Beatles through Revolver in Spanish or maybe they were Uruguayan. I don't have them now but they were interesting. Take care Matt!

The US album rules! It's authentic to the cause. That said, if getting up and moving the needle every couple of songs to the next Beatles track bothers you, get the UK version. Socorro is the Spanish translation to Help.

I have both of those...If it wasn't for the Ken Thorne soundtrack music, George wouldn't have gotten into Indian music ( this is the first place he heard it)....He came up with a story rather late in his life that his mother played Indian Music on the radio ( in the UK?) when he was a child...Much like Macca's later day " Got To Get You Into My Life" "revelation " that it was about grass to up his hip quotient....Neither of those I believe are true....Peace and Love, Terry and Julia Tutor

Looking at the titles of the songs, it is written in regular Spanish (as opposed to Portugues, which is spoken + written in some South American countries). "Anoche" means "last night," "Dime lo que Observas" mean, "Tell Me What You Observe," etc. Most of the Spanish translations are very faithful/literal: "Tienes que Ocultar Tu Amor" is "You have to Hide Your Love" without the "away." I found your video fun and interesting.

I also have both the soundtrack and the actual album. I bought the soundtrack when I was 13, in 1978, and I loved the great sound of that album , though I wasn't too keen with most of the instrumentals. I loved the George Martin Orch. cuts on A Hard Days Night, though. I prefer the British album by far and got a copy in '95 when their albums came out in the States in their original form. that Uruguay Help pressing looks like a gem, and you were meant to have that. does it sound better or worse than other pressings ? I wish you had shared how the record sounded. years ago, in a Korvette's store, I found a copy of Abbey Road in that stores Record Dept. among the imports. the pressing came from Uruguay and the back photo was in black and white. the cover seemed standard weight, not like your Help album was. I never bought this pressing because I already owned a Capitol pressing that I was happy with. sometimes I think back on that strange Abbey Road album and I kick myself for not buying it. by the way, I'd love to hear that 'other' album sometime.

I have both Help! LPs Matt, but I have disdain for the USA version because I don't care for the instrumentals. Same with Hard Day's Night. The UK versions is far superior to the USA version for the same reasons. But whatever floats your boat! If you're happy with both versions, more power to you.
