I'll probably comment more here in a minute, but I wanted to get this out before I forgot. I think "Now & Then" should have only been released as a single (with bonus songs like they did with "Free as a Bird" and "Real Love") - It was weird to have it and not the other 2 songs on the re-mixed Blue Album. Maybe they should have put all 3 songs or none at all on it. Just a weird move.
There’s always a cash grab to be made! There’s always a cow to be milked - lol! I’ve got a feeling somewhere around a Christmas time of the future. They’ll remix remaster the anthology series and then put those songs on them with John’s voice restored. $$$
Actually, there is a "super deluxe edition" of the "Now & Then" single. It has everything you asked for, "Free As A Bird", "Real Love", remixes, demos of all the songs, etc. I got a copy of it after seeing Matthew Street's video about it. You have to do some digging around on the Internet for it, but it is there. You can get it for a good deal, around about $14.
I actually just spent the money they wanted me to spend on the Revober boxset Mathew! That’ll show the bastards! Oh wait, that means they got my money anyway! Damn! Missed it by thaaaaat much Cheif! ❤
I'm just not really interested in the U.S. albums. But then again, I'm only 53 - what do i know. I started my collections when the British versions were first issued on cd in the 1980s. I think the only U.S. albums I have are the "Hard day's Night" and "Help" soundtracks - generally for the George Martin instrumentals....for whatever they're worth.
I only do cd boxset so not to thrilled with Harrison’s Latest vinyl/cd combo. In fact I have decided to no even purchase to two disc. I do love the presentation of the recent Mind Games super deluxe cd boxset (not the cube). However it it rather expensive and to be honest Plastic Ono Band is the only one I own and worth purchasing. With the rest of Lennon’s discography I am content with just album (Imagine and Jealous guy have been played out for me) and listening to outtakes on Spotify/UA-cam.
I really appreciate you mentioning that we’re all kind of like a Beatles family! It was really a breath of fresh air to hear that we can kind of weigh our grievances or what makes us upset as a family or a fan. I’m a huge beetle fan from ever since I can remember! However, the reality of it is , I’m in my mid 50s now I have a mortgage to pay. I have kids to put through college. They have literally priced me out. I’m not falling for any more cash grabs, and multiple versions of the same album that I grew up listening to. On a positive note with all these new versions of all these albums you can get the original ones on CD for dirt cheap. Or you can get them from your local library. (That’s just my $.02 plus any applicable taxes). Peace & love amigo!
I can't wait for the Super Deluxe six CD/LP box set of Hear The Beatles Tell All! And man, that HDN lunchpail looks cool. And that is my fave of the new t-shirts! Thanks for the honesty, Matt.
I agree with your message here, Matt. And here’s the thing: Apple is expecting fans to pay a premium for material that isn’t even what the fans want, or even need. When will we be listened to? When will the products we actually want be released? Will they charge $1500 for them? As a younger fan, it’s unfathomable to justify shelling out an entire savings account on one set. I can’t imagine someone like John Lennon being okay with this.
@@matthewstreet1961 I'm not going to buy the box set but will buy the remastered mono albums seperately. Really don't care about "The Beatles Story". I also getting the Amazon clear vinyl version of "Living In A Material World" & the ITunes version for my IPhone, don't care about the box set. I'm also waiting for "Rubber Soul" 60th myself but I hope they put out both versions. The UK version Original George Martin mix & Giles Martin mix(stereo & mono) and the American version Dave Dexter mixes that starts off with "I Just Seen A Face" plus make it double album(mono & stereo). Yeah I'm asking for too much. The other box set I'm waiting for is "Back To The Egg"(yeah again I'm asking for too much). Take care Matthew.
@@blachubear I think any Rubber Soul Box will mimic Revolver - New Stereo Mix, Original UK Mono Mix, 2 LP's of Extras, 7" EP of the Double A-side UK single We Can Work It Out/Day Tripper with new Stereo and orig. Mono mixes, nice book in a slip case with orange-coloured spine and rear. Maybe release the Capitol remastered analogue mono LP version separately as well for U.S. market but make it available worldwide also.
Well said Matt - the USA box set is a rip off to get the album no one wants - so I’m skipping it too - and just found a 1978 copy of the Beatles story for £6 so that’s sorted that ! And the Harrison box is one disc of new and loads of duplication - I’m just ordering the blue vinyl meet the Beatles and will see if I can grab them individually when the price drops - the Harrison 2 cd will be cheap as chips soon enough as were the all things must pass configurations ❤
I've always been a bit hesitant over the boxsets and now stream most of them when possible. Remixes usually get a couple listens at most. Sgt. Pepper and the White Album are the only Beatle boxes I have and the three Lennon albums are the only solo sets I've bought. I'll probably get Walls and Bridges but don't plan on getting any more Beatle sets. At this stage, getting more physical media just seems a waste to me.
Hi Matt! I'm with you! I'm 68 and I'm done as well. We were faithful fans all these years and they won't give us what we want. I am done with being jerked around by Apple and the bunch. I'm in failing health and can't afford the prices and aggravation. Ill be getting rid of all my stuff within the next year. I'll just listen to it all on Spotify. All the best, Matt! Jeff
I have had it too. Like you I have been waiting for a Rubber Soul deluxe set with outtakes etc, something interesting. This latest capitol relaese is nothing to me.
I got the Revolver box set. I loved it. I’m not getting the American box set. Good video. We Beatles fans need to voice our opinions. So far, I haven’t heard anyone say they were looking forward to the new one.
Great topic! It Seems like Apple is out of touch with what we want.i wish we could get some live Beatles, doent even have to be a box, oh well....what can u do? LA DE DA!😂😅😊
I got it for just over $300 CAN, shipping and duty already paid. So, I'm happy with the new Beatles "The 1964 US Albums In Mono" LP set. I'm not a fan of that George Harrison album, so I won't be getting the "Living In The Material World" box set, or the 2 CD set.
You’ve made some very good points about why or why not to get super deluxe editions box sets. I think ultimately it’s up to the fan but i haven’t gotten any of the box sets except for the red and blue albums in color vinyl and i will also be getting the meet the Beatles blue vinyl, see a trend? I would be more interested in getting blu rays of the Washington DC 1964 and Shea stadium shows. Also the Budokan 1966 shows would be awesome. I’ve already got all their official songs, i don’t need to buy them again. Keep up the good work , rock on 🤘
You are so right, Matt! Thank you! Many of the Box Sets contain childish crap which devaluate this most beautiful and exciting music. I‘ve been a fan for more than 50 years, but I‘ve always kept my collection classy. I would never let gnomes enter my home or raise a Nutopia flag there. The music is too dear to my heart to let it get spoiled by such nonsense. There are other ways to spend 300 or a thousand bucks. Get a nice dog, buy really good books… Thanks again and greetings from Berlin, Harry
I believe the lack of a RINGO Box is due to the fact that the album is owned by the label. And the label won’t take a chance. I was hoping there would be something for the 50th…….
Box Upsets … ! 😂😂 George Martin famously said that his big regret was leaving Penny Lane and SF forever off Sgt Peppers, as the band didn’t want to rip fans off -having already issued these songs as singles. The wheel has turned full circle. Great video Matt .. very entertaining and hugely informative. From a fan in Ireland 🇮🇪
Funny as usual matthew, scoop dont forget the 1964 that is title coming to apple+ on Thanksgiving. The ahdn lunchbox is really nice and bright. Mine came last week! Going to one hand clapping 2nite also!
I’m getting the LITMW super deluxe. Extremely happy that they included both the vinyl and CD. I do think the Deluxe CD set is nice, but what bugs me is they’re leaving off the Sunshine life For Me track. Overall though I’m happy with this release. The Beatles US Albums box on the other hand. I decided to cancel my order. I’m just getting the Meet The Beatles Target edition at this point. I’m guessing the box price is going to drop drastically and I will get it then.
I'd consider Star Club and Stowe, in a box. And again... Capitol Albums Vol. 3 (Y&T, Revolver, Pepper w/o goofy tag, and MMT with all it's uniqueness.)
Hey Matt! Good Video! I love The Beatles and I love Box Sets. I rarely get them on release day. I wait a while. They do go down in price. I get the ones I think might go out of print. The new Capitol mono box I’m gonna wait and see how low it gets. If quantity is low I have no choice but to get it. I’m glad and happy I got the 2014 mono vinyl box I waited what 4 years paid 350.00 on Amazon. I’m waiting for an updated E.P box vinyl collection. Take care!
interesting take Matthew to which I broadly agree although I have ordered the deluxe Material World set including the LP's which will go unplayed, but it does look a nice set, unlike ATMP cd box whcih aside from the music I have to admit was one of the most underwhelming deluxe sets I am sorry to say. Do you think Sometime in New York City was skipped as they thought the market wasn't there for it, must admit it is not one I would/have bought all the rest. I find the Abbey Road deluxe sturdy whereas the white album deluxe although well designed is kind of flimsy slide on cover par. My favourite music of all the beatles box sets is Abbey Road, (all so subjective though) As for Ringo I love him, maybe he could have done a combined deluxe box of Ringo and Goodnight Vienna. Would love (as I think many will) london Town and BAck to the Egg Archive. Great video.
I'm with you Matt. For one, I just can't afford it. I really don't see the few extras are worth it. I found that out with the Let It Be box set that I was really excited about. I feel the same way about the solo projects. With Paul, I usually only purchase the simple 2 cd set of any of his archival releases. I don't need another book of pictures, copies of hand written lyrics and a guitar pick with their signature.
God bless you Matthew and family. Music is fun and you make music so interesting thank you. Thanks for all your reviews down through the years sharing your family and family memories. God bless Matt
Personally ordered the Capitol box set to go with all my previous Beatles box releases starting from MMT small set/Stereo/Mono. I don't collect solo Beatles except the first 2 John Lennons so easier on budget. Entertaining reaction video Thanks for sharing
You make a lot of good points here, Matt. I have backed off just snapping up every box set that is released. I love the Mind Games album but I went for just the double cd set. It's great. The remixed album is excellent and the extra cd with alternate takes is good and satisfies my "deep dive" into MG. The Capitol mono box coming out? Can't do it. I have every one of those albums in both stereo and mono, and VG+ to Near Mint (some with the cellophane still intact). The mono/stereo Capitol cds of 2004 & 2006, cover it quite nicely, and I love those. I am seeing some folks saying things like (actually quoting here), "Of course I have the original Capitol albums, but I can't wait to open these albums up and get that thrill of a brand new mint Capitol '64 album!" With all due respect, I don't get it. 😆
Hi Matt, 👋 I'm all boxed 📦 out! The next box set that I want is The Beatles, Rubber Soul w/ remixes, demos, and the outtakes vinyl set! Hopefully the absolutely best of the sets so far whenever it's available for purchase! This latest Capitol 64' box set is ridiculous, The Beatles Story? Really?! So unimportant in the Beatles catalog! Capitol/Apple should have made a combo box set for the years 1964/1965 and leaving out The Beatles story and put them all on different colored vinyl for each album, reflecting on what colors are on each cover! Now that would have been great for young & older collectors! Man, I can't believe nobody from Capitol and Apple thought of this...Oh well, just my thoughts on this upcoming release. Enjoy the rest of your week! 🍻 ✌️&💙 Allan
You still have the right to your opinion & hopefully into the future ( Wink Wink) . I have a lot of box sets but no solo one. I agree with you too much & too expensive. I am looking forward to a Revolver & Magical Mystery Tour ( Maybe combined with Yellow Submarine ) Box sets.Yeah not all of them were A's. Good points. Take care.
The original Let It Be was in a box set unless you were in America where they made do with a gatefold cover. True, the book binding left a lot to be desired and the construction of the box and internal trays was pretty poor too. In spite of that, the book itself is a fantastic record of the making of Let It Be with superb photos throughout.
I'm with you, Matt. I'm on a tight budget and have passed on most of the box sets and archive releases. I'm the kind of fan who is only interested in the music and couldn't care less about wooden crates, suitcases, gnome figurines, etc. Cheers 😎
I can't wait for box sets from the Magical Mystery Tour, Rubber Soul, Help and Beatles for Sale (!). Some say there ain't enough material to create a big box for those albums, but if you have a 1) Remixed CD 2)Outtakes/singles/rare tracks CD 3) Mono version 4) Blu ray with hi rez stereo/Atmos and hardback book, you got what many Beatles fans wish for. So, this might not be as extensive as the Pepper and White Album box sets, but still enough to justify an extensive release for all the remaining Beatles albums. I'm sure Rubber Soul is next and we'll see a MMT box set in 2027, but again hope Help and For Sale are also a main objective. ~Marjet
I'm with you Matt, at least for the moment! Like you, I have no real interest in the US albums, because they aren't what I grew up with and with Past Masters there's no songs I'm missing out on. I might pick them up in the future just to satisfy the OCD/Completest area of my fandom, but they are not really on my radar at all. Now Rubber Soul, Help and Walls And Bridges are of course also on my "Can't Wait For" list. My hope for the Beatle albums is that they have a few surprises lined up, and wouldn't have to repeat anything that was on Anthology 2. But with all these super/uber/deluxe box sets, how often are we going to go back and listen to outtakes? Most people I know are often more than happy with the 2CD editions and the rest can be streamed on spottyfly!
Pretty sure the last box set I bought was YesYears when I was 17, which was over 30 years ago. Since then, it's been individual formats. Undoubtedly, I will get a few of the US Capitol mono albums here in the near future, but the box cost for only the Beatles Story extra? F**k that s**t.
There definitely seems to be a beatles tax or a beatles premium for their products. Price is one thing, but I'm honestly starting to run out of space to put these expansive box sets. I stopped buying the CD sets quite awhile ago now. I just get the vinyl sets now.
Matt, always enjoy your videos. These boxsets change as they look at how the perception of fans change their buying needs. I like vinyl but always choose the cd box sets. Since CD’s are supposedly on the way out, we are lucky to even get them with the vinyl for Living In The Material World. People stream today,, while people like us collect physical media. Remember Flowers In The Dirt had some additional downloads? I personally want physical and the power to choose. Rubber Soul will come out probably in 2025.
I'm with you, Matt. I don't think there is anything the Beatles could release at this point that I would buy. I am perfectly happy with my 2009 cds. McCartney does need to get back to releasing archives, though - I would continue to buy those. At least give us a double Cold Cuts cd that includes all unreleased stuff like Waterspout and Yvonne.
Love your show Matthew! I feel the same as you right on! All your comments make sense! The thing for me is the prices are just out of sink even if your wealthy the prices bring down the box sets they just seem out of touch with the fans !!! The prices will kill physical media and fans will go to Spotify or other streaming Like Amazon!!! They don't even put cd players in new cars anymore stopping in 2019 so it doesn't make sense to even make cds anymore just like the 8track it is dead!!! Walmart doesn't even sell cds anymore not even best buy it is a dinosaur technology!!! $300 for a simple box set with no book and the box is to plain they should have put some nice photos of the Beatles on the box with a nice book explaining Capital albums with lots of pictures!!! Maybe then the price makes sense!!! Tired of taking advantage of the buying public i know it's our choices to buy or not! Just get Spotify $10 a month!! John's Mind Games was a great remix but it was overpriced and they can't give them away!!! The sales were a disaster!!! Did not even get in the billboard 200 when it came out!!! Price is the key here!!! And Red and blue did sell great billboard and Uk charts top 3 but the packaging terrible to cheap!!! No book with pictures and nice history on the albums just thrown together overnight! With that great photo in the park in the church garden should have been blown up over the box ! One of the best pictures of the Beatles Thanks Matthew loved your show!
Hi Mattt. I agree with you for 100%. Actually I was kind of ok with the box sets until the US albums came along with the exception of Rubber Soul. Why only Mono recordings and why no CD's. The Beatles' Story is a cash grab topic. If you want this album than one has to go with the box set. Pathatic!!! Same goes for Living in the Material world. If one wants to have the Blu Ray then you have to buy the Super Deluxe edition. I am too only interested in the CD's. I will purchase, like you, only the 2 CD edition. Cheers Stephan
Love that lunchbox, Matt! I hear you on this fab rant! John and George are spared from this criticism. I wonder what they would have thought of these remixes and reissues. I know John was not a fan of the American albums and how they were packaged.
Right on Matthew! I grew up with the Beatles, Saw the concert in 66 at Candlestick. And still love the band but if I go on certain Beatles channels and dare to criticize a release or something I get called all kinds of bad stuff You can love the band but still be critical of some of the releases that have come out in the past !!
Oh my goodness Lee! 😊Thank you se very much for your kindness! I am humbled and appreciate having you as part of my channel. All my best to you! Cheers! Matt 🎼🎵🎶🍻❤️💥😎👍
Good work Matt! Never feel bad about criticizing….Beatles are my favorite and I’m one of the most Jaded fans these days….I still love them though. I don’t see the point of getting a “deluxe” box set IE LITMW for just one extra song. Granted it’s also on a 45 or whatever but not worth the money. Also do we honestly need the US albums yet again in another boxset this one very few will be able to afford or bother buying. The blue vinyl for Meet the Beatles from target sounds nice similarly to the red vinyl for Now and then (which didn’t really sound that good) anyway as Ringo would say…Peace and Love….no autographs.
I'm a big Beatles fan but have been very discerning about what I buy over the last 7 years. I just don't feel the need to acquire stuff anymore. When pretty much all the deluxe material is available via streaming, I just listen to it via that on an I tunes subscription. Ok you don't have the book etc but even with an album like Revolver, I played the extras a couple of times but that was all. I was glad I didn't buy it. I do think fans are being so milked these days. I can't believe the uncritical gullibility of some fans, who have this need to be completists and buy literally everything!
The Living in the Material World Super Deluxe box set is baffling. The book is nice but the album and bonus material are repeated three times across separate formats. It would have made sense if it included the deluxe vinyl set, three CDs of additional bonus material, and a Dolby ATMOS 5.1 mix on Blu Ray. The only additional music that's included is the 7" with two versions of Sunshine Life For Me.
Agreed Matt! I bought the Red & Blue last year. I did enjoy it. I got the All Things Must Pass 3cd and original 3 lp sets but I am done . I can always stream it on Spotify. I do think George’s estate got it right with new release being $200 for the big set . The last one was a joke $$$ wise . Thank you again ❤
@@matthewstreet1961 and do you know what boxset would outsell all of them? RINGO ! That album holds a special place in our hearts but Ringo has no interest
I didn’t bother with any of the Giles Martin remixes. I’ve heard them on Spotify, and they sound good, but I don’t know if we really needed them. I’m happy with my 1987 CDs.
This is the old and shameless business of selling and reselling the same old thing at different times...as if there is plenty of money!! A couple of hardcover books of "unpublished photos", a preface by I don't know who, remastering 2000...and blah blah, and since you know that there are people who repeat lunch, let's do the same with Lez Zeppelin, Pink Floyd , and a lot of other bands to sell things that most of us already bought more than 20 or 30 years ago... Great video! Greetings from Chile!
Matt that was the most entertaining video yet! Loved it. I agree with you on the boxes. I was going to get George deluxe material world but now I’m just getting the two CD set everything in the deluxe repeat it’s self. Plus I have the 1973 Vinyl. So I am good with the 2 cd set. The Beatles reissues. Of the us albums not going to get that either. I already have 1978 stereo pressing and the 1960’s mono albums original. So I am good there too! I will just wait for the Rubber Soul box set. On a side note on waybar they have a sale of the mono box set for 137 for 3 more days. I don’t think Apple is getting the pre orders. Anyway great video Matt! Have a wonderful day!!
I definitely get your frustration. It would be hard for me to say no to Bob Dylan sets, though I know his aren't as frequent, and there are 4 Beatles haha.
I ordered my 1964 box! Sorry to all you who were waiting for a Rubber Soul release, but you'll get it soon. 2024 is the year I finally get what I've been waiting for since 2014. I've no interest in those annual Giles Martin releases or their solo stuff.
Totally agree. These box sets have lost the plot. The whole point to deluxe box sets is to give fans a tantalizing glimpse into the making of the L.P. which in my book means loads of out takes, and I mean loads, and not useless bits of ephemeral nonsense. The Elvis releases have been brilliant and put the solo Beatles related ones to shame in their meanness to the essential elements. The Emperor's New Clothes comes to mind.
FYI Merchbar is having a half price sale on it! Must not be selling well in presale! Here: www.merchbar.com/rock-alternative/the-beatles/the-beatles-1964-us-albums-in-mono-vinyl-record?ucc=US&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADfA2zg6nL1wfT9UlRsHnbUebzJHc&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIiKf_oc7oiAMVE2FHAR2q4gGeEAQYASABEgLmqvD_BwE
Luckily I don't have the money to "collect" - but if I did, I'd make a horrible collector. All I'm interested in is the music. I don't really care about gadgets, stickers, shoes, nose hairs, cups, hangers, lyric sheet facsimiles, suit cases, tinker toys, lincoln logs, or anything in that vein. All I'm interested in is the music. Throw together a cd of outtakes, unreleased songs, etc., and I'm in. The Anthology Series was nice because it had the songs with no extra stupid bells and whistles. I don't want or need a replica of Paul's first baking sheet....Just the music please..... P.S. really enjoyed this. I agree with you - it's getting to be too much. Can't wait for your next vid. Until then, take care, my friend.
Matt my Beatles brother, I couldn't agree more! After Revolver we should have gotten Rubber Soul!!! The heck with all these Red & Blue & USA 1964 (& 65!) Capitol Albums. Should not have been the priority. We Beatles fans demand Rubber Soul And they RUINED that a little by including half the album on the Red Album. Uggggh!!!!! Kenny from Jersey ps. And $300?! NO FREAKING WAY Up yours Apple!
I only get the 2 or 3 CD sets ...and try to find just the music somewhere else. I am looking forward to the colored vinly Meet The Beatles and the 2 CD Harrison. Next Rubber Soul, and hopeful a box set Butcher with book and all alternate shots and covers etc. Let it Roll...and get what you can afford.
For me if you want it, buy it, if you don’t, then don’t buy it. I think what bothers me is all the color vinyl variants. Living in the Material World now has three different color variants, not including the black vinyl. Enough said, great video Matt. Take care
@@matthewstreet1961 For those “dog” albums what work well would be what set along the same lines George’s buddy Eric Clapton 1974-75 recordings which included live material. Might be the best way to present George’s troubled 1974 tour which was my first concert!
Hi Matt, That's what is great about America, the 1st Amendment! You have some very valid points, and I have buyers remorse on a lot of 💩 that I've purchased. I like the HDN lunch box. I purchased the 1964 tour ticket pin set. Up in the air about the box set. Seems that they put a premium on being a collector, like the $120 for an unnecessary album and a cardboard box.
Spot on, Matt: why do we need the US albums? They are still easily available in used record stores. Didn't need Red & Blue either. Cash grabs, in both cases. Not only do we need Rubber Soul, but a box set featuring what's on your shirt: a Magical Mystery Tour/ Yellow Submarine box. Lots of potential there. Personally, not doing any of the solo stuff, as I'm not a fan of remixes, and the out-takes have been available in great quality on boots for years. Great video, Matt; keep them coming !
I snagged the Beatles White album/ Esher Demos set on Vinyl at a walmart for a decent price, I’m ALL IN with these Boxsets as a younger fan. i don’t get the negative energy though.
Liking your AHDN lunchbox Matt👍 Makes sense for you not get the US Mono Capitol LP's box if you've already got the originals in good condition. Apple are really taking the we-wee in charging a premium for the extra cardboard case/ Beatles Story (imo the design of the actual box is a bit bland and boring. What's wrong with the Stars and Stripes and band photo ala the CD box set) If I was you I'd get the blue vinyl Meet The Beatles and have a listen to it, and if you think any significant sound quality gain has been achieved then maybe get the others one by one. Can't see them sellling out nor the box which will probably come down in price if it's till around in a few years time.
Not until I saw this video Matt did I know about the details of George's Living in the Material World Deluxe Box Set with the Vinyl and the CD''s packaged together, I know recently I was excited about this News of this release posting in your past video that I was going to get the Deluxe Box Set....so yeah PASS on this this, Like you Matt dont play much Vinyl so now I'll get the 2 CD version of Living In The Material World 👍 Thanks again Matt for this ✌️ (and for saving me $$$) Cheers my Man 🍻
Hows this for an idea: A ten disc box set, both C.D. and vinyl of Yesterday and Today, and all the other discs contain out takes, alternate versions, and recordings of arguments between the band itself? PLUS.... actual reproductions of the doll parts used in the original photo shoot for the original front cover? (And maybe limited edition reproduction cloth swatches of the white coats The Beatles were wearing for the photo session)
I pre-ordered the George Harrison 2 CD's Living in the Material World. But hey, the only other copy of it that I ever had was the original LP that was played on a console stereo and is long gone. However, I'm not going to buy any more super deluxe box sets (maybe, lol).
@@matthewstreet1961 That's great, Matthew! Here's the thing: If people are willing to pay more for things, like the new Beatles U.S. albums box set, they'll certainly charge more for the things! Anyway, though, we're talking about THE BEATLES, here! Did you hear it? When I said THE BEATLES, angels came down singing "hallelujah!"
Sorry, but the Harrison LITMW Super Deluxe box set with both the vinyl & CDs plus the hardcover book is perfect. I'm in on that one. Agree that the US Capital mono albums box set is a total rip-off. They should have at least given us a nice hardcover book with that one; otherwise it's a 'hard pass'. I too aleady have all those albums in mono & stereo in VG++ condition so I will pass on the new ones - except for the Target blue vinyl variant of Meet the Beatles. I'm all in on the Target version. I would only get that box set of I can get it super-discounted off of Amazon twelve months from now.
Great insights Mike! Enjoy the Material set, I’m happy you’re getting it. I’m hoping the US box price drops big time! BTW, I knew a Mike Lord in US Air Force, are you him? Cheers 🎼🎵🎶❤️🍻
At one time, box sets were limited editions. That's not the case anymore. Nothing is limited. Go back to the early 80s and the Red Mono BM10 collection. Now that is one to have, if you can even find one. Great pressings too! They were truly limited. I think maybe 500 made it into the USA. There is a Wiki entry about it if you are not familiar.
I stopped this video at 2:40, and will watch the whole thing later, but I thought I would share my thoughts with you on the new box sets. I won't tell you exactly how old I am, but, from previous exchanges we've had, it's pretty clear we're from the same generation, although I suspect you might be a few years older than I am. Anyway, I suspect you probably still have all the original Capitol mono releases, and they're probably in pretty good condition. maybe not "Mint" but they probably sound pretty nice when you decide to play them. I was spending time with a friend yesterday who didn't realize she had mono copies of Something New, and Rubber Soul. She decided to play Rubber Soul. It was nice to hear that on vinyl once again, even though I also have it. (I usually just play the C.D. version from the original Capitol Years C.D. set, and I'm talking about the first run, and not the second.) If you're anything like me, you probably won't by the mono Capitol vinyl box set. Oh, sure, it might be a good thing for people who don't already have the original vinyl, and missed out on both runs of The Capitol Years C.D. box sets, but you and I don't need them. Plus what's the deal with releasing The Beatles' Story in MONO? I mean, for crying out loud, it's mostly just a spoken word album! I mean did they put a phlange on John's voice/ Did they put a digital delay on Paul's voice? Did they put on a phase shifter on either George's or Ringo's voice? NO! there's NO difference between the mono version and the stereo version of The Beatles Story. I've been a Beatles fan for almost as long as you have, and I'm sure our collections probably run parallel. Just like me, I'm sure you have every album in both the U.S. and British catalog, and bot mono and stereo versions, and we bot have our fair share of "Fan Club" releases, so if you think the new Capitol mono box set is a waste of time and money, I certainly don't blame you. Let the new generation who weren't there the first time around spend their money on it. (Although if somebody wanted to buy me one for a present, I wouldn't turn it down.) I also think that The Beatles are so rich that they are immune to such criticism. People should just lighten up and not get so offended when you offer an opinion that is counter to the norm. They're people just like you and I. (I'm a George fan, but I'm not sure I really want to invest in a box set of Lifting Material From The World quite yet)
I haven't bought any boxed sets. Easy explanation: I don't want to hear George Martin's work tampered with. Period The utter guile of his failed actor son to do this, and pretty much get away with it is appalling. It's as if: "We have a new "Whistler's Mother" ( who's official title was "A study in Charcoal and Gray") but it's now " A Study in Magenta and Pink".......No one would be allowed to do that! And no one should be allowed to do this to Sir George's work....Peace and Love, Terry and Julia Tutor
Matt.....hear me out.........I got battered picture sleeve versions of US singles on ebay. They were good enough for Beatlemania 64-66, theyre unique and original, and they have the scratch, used feel that they'll prob start making box sets of. You're going back to CDs, that's how I get my re-issues. When you start getting too much you can't appreciate what you really want
Hey Matt. As an old pensioner I just can’t afford those box sets! Just kidding, if I wanted them I would just order them, but what’s the fun in that? I love the Beatles, but they are far from my music priorities, but I love channels that talk Beatles. Especially love when you take the mick out of all those fans with no sense of humour. $300? Do you know how many great cheapies I can find for that amount😉. Keep on telling it like it is brother. Cheers.
I'm only a CD buyer, I think the Lennon sets have been the best presentations for any of the recent sets. While I love The Beatles boxes, their packaging is all over the place. I also agree Abbey Road is the weakest of the Beatles sets despite being the greatest recorded album of all time.
In all honesty, a RINGO by ringo starr box set would be very cool because it’s a Beatles reunion.
Plus "Goodnight Vienna", another great Richard Perry production with loads of talent including John.
I’d love to see it!! 🎼🎵🎶❤️🍻
I actually just spent the money they wanted me to spend on the Revober boxset Mathew! That’ll show the bastards!
Oh wait, that means they got my money anyway! Damn! Missed it by thaaaaat much Cheif! ❤
Ha ha! 😂 Michael “just when we think we’re out….they pull us back in!!!” (Godfather Part III) ha ha! 😆
Great post, thanks! 🙏 🎵🎶🎼❤️🍻
Thanks Marco! Great response! ❤️🎼🎵🎶🍻
I can't wait for the Super Deluxe six CD/LP box set of Hear The Beatles Tell All! And man, that HDN lunchpail looks cool. And that is my fave of the new t-shirts! Thanks for the honesty, Matt.
🙏 😊 thank you! Hope you liked the Schnee Tee Vee plug! ☺️🎼🎵🎶❤️🍻
Great insights Josh, I thank you! 🍻❤️🎼🎵🎶

Until the "Rubber Soul" 60th Anniversary Box Set come out next year.
I said that in the video Blach! They can win me over with RUBBER SOUL !! 🎼🎵🎶❤️🍻
Take care buddy! 🎼🎶🎵🍻❤️😎
@@leefordham725 Yes, I like this idea. I hope Apple Inc. will read or listen to our ideas.
Worst release by Apple ever. The inclusion of the Beatles Story is just bizarre !
Agree 100% my friend! 🍻🎼🎵🎶❤️
You’re planning well my friend! 🎼🎵🎶❤️🍻
Great thoughts Stephen! I’m with ya brother! 🍻❤️🎼🎵🎶
Jeff
Thanks Jeff! I respect your choice. I’m not ready to go that far yet. 🍻❤️🎼🎵🎶

Good video. We Beatles fans need to voice our opinions. So far, I haven’t heard anyone say they were looking forward to the new one.
I’ll get an individual album or two, that’s it. Hey I’ve got my lunchbox!!! Ha! 🍻🎵🎶🎼❤️
Great topic! It Seems like Apple is out of touch with what we want.i wish we could get some live Beatles, doent even have to be a box, oh well....what can u do? LA DE DA!😂😅😊
I totally agree Tom! 🎼🎵🎶❤️🍻
Keep up the good work , rock on 🤘
Bring on Washington and Shea!!! Yeah! 👍 🍩🎼❤️🎵☕️🎶
Well said Harry! Thanks for being honest! ❤️🎼🎵🎶🍻
I believe the lack of a RINGO Box is due to the fact that the album is owned by the label. And the label won’t take a chance. I was hoping there would be something for the 50th…….
Me too Frank! I love Ringo. Even though I picked on him a little for the sake of my video, I’m a big Ringo fan. 🎼🎵🎶❤️🍻
Maybe Ringo doesn’t want his old music reissued . It
Would be nice to have a very moderate priced Ringo boxset first and second rock albums
I’m looking forward to this box my brother. Every one is entitled to their own opinions, and I’m always happy to hear yours. All good
All good Kev! I agree. ❤️🎼🎵🎶🍻
Thank you my friend 🎼🎵🎶❤️🍻
I totally absolutely agree with you. I’ve bought them all the way up to this mono thing and I’m not buying anymore.

Yes if drastic price drop on US box , then maybe! Why do they play games with song inclusion etc??!! 🎼🎵🎶❤️🍻
@@matthewstreet1961 yeah, that was odd them putting the song on the super deluxe CD, but not the deluxe.
I'd consider Star Club and Stowe, in a box.
And again...

Hey Matt! Take care!
Same here Rick! If US box price comes WAY down, then maybe. 🎼🎵🎶❤️🍻
interesting take Matthew to which I broadly agree although I have ordered the deluxe Material World set including the LP's which will go unplayed, but it does look a nice set, unlike ATMP cd box whcih aside from the music I have to admit was one of the most underwhelming deluxe sets I am sorry to say.
Do you think Sometime in New York City was skipped as they thought the market wasn't there for it, must admit it is not one I would/have bought all the rest.
I find the Abbey Road deluxe sturdy whereas the white album deluxe although well designed is kind of flimsy slide on cover par. My favourite music of all the beatles box sets is Abbey Road, (all so subjective though)
As for Ringo I love him, maybe he could have done a combined deluxe box of Ringo and Goodnight Vienna.
Would love (as I think many will) london Town and BAck to the Egg Archive.
Great video.
Great thoughts and insights Mark! 🎼🎵🎶❤️🍻
I'm glad you decided that because I was getting ready to buy you the boxset of your choice!
DAMMIT DJ!!! I messed up!!! Ha ha ha!!🤣
Right on! The costs are getting crazy! 🎼🎵🎶❤️🍻
God bless you Matthew and family. Music is fun and you make music so interesting thank you. Thanks for all your reviews down through the years sharing your family and family memories. God bless Matt
Thanks David! 🙏😊
Personally ordered the Capitol box set to go with all my previous Beatles box releases starting from MMT small set/Stereo/Mono.
I don't collect solo Beatles except the first 2 John Lennons so easier on budget.
Entertaining reaction video
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for being here! 🎼🎵🎶❤️🍻
I’m with you Tony! “Sense” is not a word they have in their vocabulary! 🎵❤️🎶🎼👍
Ps ..I’m still optimistic that we may get Rubber Soul in 2025 .. 60 years anniversary. Beep Beep and Beep Beep … Yeah.
Hope so! 🎼🎵🎶❤️🍻
makes sense for 2025
Hi Matt, 👋 I'm all boxed 📦 out!
Bring on RUBBER SOUL Allan!! We’re ready!! ❤️🎼🎵🎶🍻
But don‘t forget about the CD version, please😃
You still have the right to your opinion & hopefully into the future ( Wink Wink) . I have a lot of box sets but no solo one. I agree with you too much & too expensive. I am looking forward to a Revolver & Magical Mystery Tour ( Maybe combined with Yellow Submarine ) Box sets.Yeah not all of them were A's. Good points. Take care.
Thanks Lengo! I appreciate you and your insights. 🎼🎵🎶❤️🍻
Next boxed set should include the Decca Demos , Live at Star Club and other live and demos from 62 / 63 etc
I’d die for that Dave! 🎼🎵🎶❤️🍻
That’s a great collectible!! 🍻❤️🎶🎼🎵
I'm with you, Matt. I'm on a tight budget and have passed on most of the box sets and archive releases. I'm the kind of fan who is only interested in the music and couldn't care less about wooden crates, suitcases, gnome figurines, etc. Cheers 😎
Well said! 🎼🎵🎶❤️🍻
~Marjet
Thanks Marjet!! 🍻🎵🎶🎼❤️
We will get a video in end of December early January saying “Mrs.Street got me the box and boy am I glad she did it’s great”
Ha ha! 😂 I hope she doesn’t, or I’ll have big time egg 🍳 on my face!!! Ha! 🎼🎵🎶❤️🍻
I’m a 2 CD guy now James! I’m ashamed of myself! I almost NEVER pull out a large box set to listen to obscure outtakes! What a waste! ❤️🎼🎵🎶🍻
"i got the deluxe cd box and its a piece of shite" !!!....that made me spit out my drink...brilliant !!
Sorry Lyla! Ha ha! 😂 ❤️🎼🎵🎶🍻
I hear ya Mike! Someone said Merchbar has a big sale on it. 🎼🎵🎶❤️🍻
Now , if they could do a singles release , but release each 45 in it's own super duper deluxe box set with booklets for about 100$ per 45 🙂
I get the joke but an Apple Records singles box spanning 1969-1975 would be cool.
OMG! 😳 ha ha! 😂 I hope not! 🎼🎵🎶❤️🍻
There definitely seems to be a beatles tax or a beatles premium for their products. Price is one thing, but I'm honestly starting to run out of space to put these expansive box sets. I stopped buying the CD sets quite awhile ago now. I just get the vinyl sets now.
Amen Tim! 🍻❤️🎼🎵🎶
I hope we see Rubber Soul soon Jim! ❤️🎶🎼🎵🍻
I’d love to see Cold Cuts Chris!!!! 🎼🎵🎶❤️🍻
Thanks so much John! Love your comment! I agree, that photo on the outer box would’ve been spectacular!!!❤️🎼🎵🎶🍻
Thanks Stephan! Great post! ❤️🎼🎵🎶🍻
Love that lunchbox, Matt! I hear you on this fab rant! John and George are spared from this criticism. I wonder what they would have thought of these remixes and reissues. I know John was not a fan of the American albums and how they were packaged.
Good points Franco! Yes I love this lunchbox, looks elegant. The others are not as striking to me. ❤️🎼🎵🎶🍻

We think alike my friend! ❤️🎼🎵🎶🍻
I would like to see an expanded edition of Wings Back to egg. The best Beatle solo album in my opinion.
My favorite too!!!!🎶🎵🎼❤️🍻
I'm a big Beatles fan but have been very discerning about what I buy over the last 7 years.
People can buy what they want, but I’ve had an enlightenment!! No more for me! 🍻🎵🎶🎼❤️
Excellent points! 🎵🎶🎼❤️
Do you know to access the "hidden tracks" on the John Lennon Mind Games Deluxe Box Set? Are they on the Blu-ray audio discs?

I do think George’s estate got it right with new release being $200 for the big set . The last one was a joke $$$ wise . Thank you again ❤
Totally agree Skee! Thanks! ❤️🎶🎼🎵
@@matthewstreet1961 and do you know what boxset would outsell all of them? RINGO ! That album holds a special place in our hearts but Ringo has no interest
True Skee…I wish Ringo would just do it!!❤️🍻🎵🎶🎼
I didn’t bother with any of the Giles Martin remixes. I’ve heard them on Spotify, and they sound good, but I don’t know if we really needed them. I’m happy with my 1987 CDs.
I totally understand your thoughts! 🍻🎵🎶🎼❤️
Im with you Matt..legacy being ruined with greed solely on people’s minds. Cheers Matt!
Exactly Martin! ❤️🎶🎼🎵🍻
Thank you Alex! I appreciate you being here! I love Chile 🇨🇱 ! 🎵🎶🎼❤️🍻
This is a step too far for me. 650 Canadian, ridiculous
Yes indeed Dave! 🎶🎼🎵🍻❤️
Thanks Matt! I’m with you, 2 CD set of Material World is it ! 🎼🎵🎶❤️🍻
I definitely get your frustration. It would be hard for me to say no to Bob Dylan sets, though I know his aren't as frequent, and there are 4 Beatles haha.
Exactly Sam! ❤️🎼🎵🎶🍻
I ordered my 1964 box! Sorry to all you who were waiting for a Rubber Soul release, but you'll get it soon. 2024 is the year I finally get what I've been waiting for since 2014. I've no interest in those annual Giles Martin releases or their solo stuff.
I hear ya Mike! Thank you for commenting. 🎵❤️🎶🎼👍
Ha ha! 😂 You make so much sense Kincaide! I love this!! Lincoln Logs!!!!🪵 ha ha ha!🤣 🎼🎵🎶❤️🍻
Matt my Beatles brother, I couldn't agree more! After Revolver we should have gotten Rubber Soul!!!
The heck with all these Red & Blue & USA 1964 (& 65!) Capitol Albums. Should not have been the priority. We Beatles fans demand Rubber Soul
And they RUINED that a little by including half the album on the Red Album. Uggggh!!!!!
Kenny from Jersey
ps. And $300?! NO FREAKING WAY
Up yours Apple!
RUBBER SOUL KENNY!!!!!!👍🎼🎵🎶❤️🍻
What a fantastic video have a great weekend Matthew ❤😊
Thank you! You too Amin! 🎼🎵🎶❤️🍻
I just have enough copies of them. I only have one set of ears. I’d love a new McCartney album, or some George outtakes, though.
Galaxie you’re right! Another George rarity LP would be nice. I’d like new Paul, but gee, he can’t sing anymore. ❤️🎶🎼🎵
That’s what all Beatles fans say until the next one !
😂😆😀☺️😳
7:12 there are complaints about the front cover not being printed well.
Good point! I heard that too. 🎼🎵🎶❤️🍻
I’m with you Robert, I’m a 2CD set guy now too! You make so much sense. Thank you! ❤️🎼🎵🎶🍻
For me if you want it, buy it, if you don’t, then don’t buy it. I think what bothers me is all the color vinyl variants. Living in the Material World now has three different color variants, not including the black vinyl. Enough said, great video Matt. Take care
You make a lot of sense Thomas! 🎼🎵🎶❤️🍻
I prefer those “dog” Dark Horse and Extra Texture albums to the overly serious and preachy LITMW. To each their own… thing
Good point Ronster! Dark Horse isn’t bad…I listen now and then. Extra Texture, only 2-3 songs I can get into. 🎼🎵🎶❤️🍻
I personally wouldn’t mind if they skipped over to “33&1/3rd” my second favorite George to ATMP.
Me too! 🎶🎼🎵
@@derekroberts6654 33 1/3 would perhaps numerically appropriate 3rd on my list after ATMP and Cloud 9
@@matthewstreet1961 For those “dog” albums what work well would be what set along the same lines George’s buddy Eric Clapton 1974-75 recordings which included live material. Might be the best way to present George’s troubled 1974 tour which was my first concert!
Hi Matt,
That's what is great about America, the 1st Amendment!
Well said! 🍻❤️🎼🎵🎶
Thanks for your support my friend! ❤️🎼🎵🎶🍻
Me ?..if I want it I buy it..if I don't want it I don't buy it..simple really
Exactly Peter! I agree! 🎼🎵🎶❤️🍻

Yes Lee, the blue vinyl Meet the Beatles looks great. I will get that one. 🎼🎵🎶🍻❤️
Not until I saw this video Matt did I know about the details of George's Living in the Material World Deluxe Box Set with the Vinyl and the CD''s packaged together, I know recently I was excited about this News of this release posting in your past video that I was going to get the Deluxe Box Set....so yeah PASS on this this, Like you Matt dont play much Vinyl so now I'll get the 2 CD version of Living In The Material World 👍 Thanks again Matt for this ✌️ (and for saving me $$$) Cheers my Man 🍻
Cheers Ernie! We’re on the same page buddy! 🍻🎼🎵🎶❤️
How many times can you buy the same album, and how many times are you going to listen to the extras? The original is good enough for me.
@@zapple1003 👍 agree🎶🎼🎵
Hows this for an idea: A ten disc box set, both C.D. and vinyl of Yesterday and Today, and all the other discs contain out takes, alternate versions, and recordings of arguments between the band itself? PLUS.... actual reproductions of the doll parts used in the original photo shoot for the original front cover? (And maybe limited edition reproduction cloth swatches of the white coats The Beatles were wearing for the photo session)
Ha ha! 😂 what the hell would that cost??!! Ha! ❤️🎼🎵🎶🍻😳
@@matthewstreet1961 An arm and a leg, of course. 😁
I pre-ordered the George Harrison 2 CD's Living in the Material World. But hey, the only other copy of it that I ever had was the original LP that was played on a console stereo and is long gone. However, I'm not going to buy any more super deluxe box sets (maybe, lol).
I’m with you, I’m getting the 2CD set too. 🎼🎵🎶❤️🍻
Ha ha! 😆 yeah, the almighty Beatles can do no wrong!! Ha! I love them but gee whiz! 🎵❤️🎶🎼😂
Those US albums are a dime a dozen in the second hand market.
Exactly! 👍 🎼🎵🎶🍻
Me to I'm done no more Beatle box sets
@@leonardfrausto9373 I’m with you Leonard! 🎼🎶🎵🍻❤️
Thanks for the info Jim, I was not familiar with it! 🎼🎵🎶❤️🍻
All excellent insights and points Nanky! Great comment! 😊👍❤️🎼🎵🎶🍻
It's about time. This whole thing jumped the shark with All Things Must Pass trunk with gnomes and tree bark
Exactly! 👍
I can’t argue with your comment Terry! All excellent points!!!! ❤️🎼🎵🎶🍻
Great thoughts Larry! 🎶🍻🎵❤️🎼
Cheers.
Thanks Jack! Much appreciated! Too many Beatles fans are too sensitive and too damned protective! Not me! Ha ha!😂 ❤️🎼🎵🎶🍻
I'm only a CD buyer, I think the Lennon sets have been the best presentations for any of the recent sets.
While I love The Beatles boxes, their packaging is all over the place. I also agree Abbey Road is the weakest of the Beatles sets despite being the greatest recorded album of all time.
Thanks Eric! All the best to you! 🎼🎶🎵❤️🍻
