I have a couple of Tamiya paint pens that I have had for years that work well for window trim, now I'm going to a few more of your ideas. Thanks Doug!

Use of a black pen is a good idea. But, I do NOT recommend using a Sharpie unless you know it is going on a part that will not see any lacquer clear coat. Reason being is lacquer clear coats can soften Sharpie ink no matter how long it has been down and cause it to run.
My personal black artists pen of choice is the Sakura Micron pigment pen in black. They come in various tip sizes with the smallest being .005. And the ink is acrylic based making it inert to clear coats. Granted it can take longer for the ink to dry on glossy surfaces. But it won't craze and I have used the pens for lots of cheats, such as vents and door shut lines. The Sharpie is likely a better option for bare clear plastic though given I doubt anyone would shoot clear parts with a clear coat.

Had a few sizes at the bench for years, great tip. One thing I do when using on edges, is sometimes cut a groove into the tip to control depth and help prevent slipping.

Good tips on the Sharpie, Doug. (No pun intended) I keep all colors handy.

I’ve become fond of .05 art pen that’s a very black Indian ink… I forget the name but, I’ll post the name brand tonight when I can look. Thank you for your channel sir, very inspiring!

As a joke I was thinking of creating an exact copy of a coworker's C4 Vette, including license plate and trash/junk inside the vehicle. Then I would give it to the secretary for her desk.

You can also use long tipped ink markers which you can wipe any slippage or sloppy edges off. I use them for mag and stock wheels to give the wheels depth and dimension and even a slight bit of surface rust. The ink tips can also be used to recreate wood grain patterns.

I would just paint the window frame, rubber black color and cut a narrow piece of bare metal foil and the top the rubber to simulate

black sharpies, i personally dont like because the purple-ish accent it shows in certain light. needs to be always black. i used black paint and scrub it off gently with a toothpick for gaskets and other things.

Great tips! I also use red and orange Sharpies on almost all of my tail lamps and amber turn signal lamps. (sometimes I have to color both sides of the clear plastic)

Love this, I have been using sharpies on my modern car trim for year’s. The control with a chisel tip is very nice and fine tips are great for tiny details as you mention. I sometimes use a bit of Tamiya weathering powders to knock down the oily sheen you may get from the sharpie at the very end.

I would agree with using a sharpie if it was a pigment ink, but it's dye based and can fade.

I'm just consistently using felt tipped permanent pens to pick out the detailing on models. I've been using markers including the really fine tipped Micron's for a few years. I'm reaching for the marker before the brush most times now.

Doug, I use ultra fine point Sharpies to detail photo etch emblems. i fill in the recessed areas then when dry lightly buff the top of the emblem with 3000 grit sanding sponge to remove the excess ink.👍

Great tips, I use sharpies all the time. I would also add, the colored ones over chrome or silver can make some nice effects, like heat blue exhaust.
The video however is unwatchable due to the extreme audio level variation.
