I have really textured skin. Huge pores and acne scars. Foundation makes me look horrible. I moisturize and use a tinted blurring primer. And then just spot conseal. I can't cover everything so I just minimize.
Finally a beauty expert who suggests not wearing foundation. I got into a "foundation" phase when I was in my 20's and it started to make my clear healthy skin clog up and look greasy and uneven when I took it off at night before bed. I decided I did not I want to be a slave to foundation so, I stopped wearing foundation cold turkey. And my skin looked terrible because of the damage the foundation caused my skin. It took a year of proper skin care and just letting my skin breathe before my skin started to improve. I am now in my late 50"s and have never worn foundation ever since and my skin glows, is naturally smooth and has a youthful appearance. Thank you for your video even though this was posted 3 years ago.
I absolutely love that I found your video! I am 50 years old I have fantastic skin very few wrinkles, and most people think I’m 40. I’ve given up on heavy foundations and now I wear tinted sunscreen blush and highlighter. If I have to go to a formal event I will go full foundation but every day I love being foundation free! Thank you so much for putting this video up!
This is so inspiring! I have similar skin to yours though I'm 52, so different in major ways of course. I'm definitely going to try this method as I'm tired of full foundation every damn day and I've been working really hard on my skincare with some good results so I just have to stop being afraid of showing my skin!
I only use moisturizer sometimes but foundation and contour and highlighter all covers your skin and clogs your pores and makes more zits and blemishes at least for me
You're right but I think they were just trying to speak from their own experience, which is valid. Makeup in a very general term doesn't clog pores but there can be comedogenic ingredients in specific products that can lead to acne. Totally agree on environmental, emotional, and internal factors being leading causes of acne though!
I have fair skin with some redness. Not much, but a tiny bit. I have some freckles too, but just a tiny bit. I would hate it, and cover my face with heavy foundation. It ended up looking flat, matte, unreal, and it would cake and crease. During The day it would mix with The skin oil and slide off some places. I then decided to use a very light formula, that has a satin finish, but still when i put it on, i still feel like it looks matt. I can never match my skin tone perfect either. Lately i have noticed that my skin tone really flatters my natural hair color. I have always done lots of highliths and it would always look off next to my skin. So then i baked on foundation in wrong colors and texture. I think i will start to embrace my natural hair color, and drop foundation and instead take care of my hair and skin. Nature knows best, and your skin and hair suits us The best.
My skin still sucks ever since I stopped wearing foundation and concealer, BUT it sucks a lot less than it did!! Honestly I just need to keep up with my skincare routine (I’m so inconsistent lol) and it’ll probably look better. Moisturizing is so important for me because I get dry, textured skin but I don’t do it like I should. Laziness I guess 😂 I can’t be bothered with foundation! It’s all I can do to just slap some eyeliner and lashes on!! Lol
Do you exfoliate in your routine? That could also help with your skin texture! I have the same skin type and I love using gentle acids for exfoliation (lactic acid, glycolic acid, etc)
Give up dairy (with your doctor's help - bc you need certain micro nutrients replacing - you hv to be careful. They should publicise this more - bc it works for 94/96% of ppl in the world - almost 40% of the world has dairy intolerance - to some degree - & it exacerbates hormones & the gunk produced clogs your pours. I tried everything - everything! - & as soon as I gave up dairy- my skin was flawless in 3 weeks. Three!🙏💜
I love how you did a glam look with a natural base! People say it can't be done but clearly they just didn't know how to do it! I would go without foundation if I could but I like mineral sunscreen and it leaves a slight cast. Still I only do a light dusting of Alima Pure powder foundation just to cancel out the white cast. My skin still looks and feels like skin with the powder foundation so I don't think I'm doing to bad by using it!
Plenty of us went without foundation back in the older days. In the 80’s foundation colors really sucked balls, everything was either too orange or too pink, so we went without as we didn’t have the money for super expensive designer products. And the formulas started breaking apart on your face after a couple of hours, they’d transfer on your collar every time. I remember when Cover Girl came out with a SPF15 tinted moisturizer in 3 shades, I wore that one all the time as the Light-Medium shade was a decent match for me. It must have been in the mid 90’s. Then years later they renamed it a BB cream, when the BB craze happened. But it was the same tinted moisturizer sunscreen 😂 now I wear the DRMTLGY SPF46 tinted moisturizing sunscreen, it’s awesome 😅 I’m surprised she didn’t talk about sunscreen in her video, maybe she doesn’t wear any.
I totally get not wanting to wear foundation. I love my DRMTLGY Tinted Moisturizing sunscreen, it just gives me a bit of glow and evens out the skintone ever so slightly. I’ve only recently started to play around with concealer a bit, and happy with the results. A light swipe of Sephora’s finishing powder to set everything and I’m good for the day. I’m a long-time Bare Minerals Matte loose foundation fan! Been wearing that one since 2005 and gotten so many compliments on my skin. When I want to wear a foundation, that’s always the one I reach for. It’s only minerals and good for your skin, no waxes, fillers or other types of chemicals. Never fails to give me that super flawless satin finish that’s perfectly skin like 😅 it’s no wonder they still produce it after nearly 30 years.

I only wear foundation because without it (Maybelline matte and poreless) I get so oily and nothing control my oil better than foundation… any recommendations please? Of maybe a primer that actually controls oil production
well i don't wear foudation because of my pores, my mom alyways was saying foudation is really bad and i shouldn't never ever wear it alot, but i used to wear it alot but my skin didn't got old, and i still will kinda rare wear little bit foudation but the most of times i'll wear cc cream because cc cream is amizing.💖
i honestly think makeup looks better without foundation even though i have acne i don’t bother anymore it makes my skin bad and just doesnt look good and i do dramatik eyes like everyday so it doesnt dras attention to my pimpels lol well it do but ye
Ok you are hilarious and this was wonderful advice! Looking to ditch foundation completely and really needed a color corrector recommendation so thank you so much ❤️
It looks like makeup in films! Beautiful, iconic, natural as in harmonious (rather than natural no makeup) - and yet a lot of makeup. Oh just got to the point where you said you’re a professional makeup artist - of course you are!! Insta subscribe :)
I love this…this is what I usually do as well. But Joe Blasco’s red color correctors have foundation mixed in right? So really you’re just using foundation in small areas? I still love everything though and I love his products!
Oh totally! A lot of professional makeup artists will only use small amounts of foundation in specific areas in need of coverage. I think it's a great way to let your skin breathe but still get that "flawless" finish 😊
i like wearing foundation but what bothers me is the caking i get when i use concealer to hide my deep crevases under eyes and the dark there. its always the worst i can never get one to not go into the crows feet. argh .. thanks for your video
I always hated foundation but eventually started wearing it bc everyone else did, though I always liked playing with eyeshadow, eyeliner etc Anyways, I just threw my foundation I avoid even using in the trash and won't be buying it again!
I don’t feel comfortable with the idea of wearing foundation and even seeing the process of someone putting high coverage foundation on kind of disgusts me. I, of course, don’t care if people wear foundation and don’t feel anything bad about the people who wear foundation when I see them. But I don’t like the idea of spreading a product all over my face. Maybe that’s one of the reasons why I don’t like bronzer as well. Really light coverage skin tints are not that bad I guess. Concealer is more logical to use in my opinion because you don’t have to spread it all around your face, you can just spot conceal. Although, I don’t use concealer either, just don’t feel like I need to.
I should’ve said “your mileage/experience may vary “ because for some people with a lot of discoloration it could be more work! I will say that this technique tends to feel much lighter on the skin because you work in concentrated, thin layers. Great question!
I get where you're coming from for sure. Makeup really does not need a full foundation to look complete in my experience but that's ok if it's not your experience 😊
foundation looks DISGUSTING unless you are using a skin tint or a light dusting of powder foundation. Nobody should be covering their entire face with liquid foundation!
Title is makeup shaming. To tell ppl they don’t NEED it is just as bad as telling women they dont need makeup. I dont wear eyeshadows anymore but i dont tell women they dont need
I'm a professional makeup artist so I'd be the LAST person to tell anyone they shouldn't wear makeup lol. I was just trying to offer a different point of view and another option for people who don't want to wear full foundation. The title was definitely made to be attention-grabbing though! I admit to making it that way for views but also hoping to help people along the way ❤
Lol makeup shaming!!! Halarious there's nothing wrong with even telling women they don't need makeup it's not shaming anyone lol it's actually quite flattering should be taken as a compliment
I don't wear foundation either, occasionally a BB or CC cream! I'm glad I'm not alone!!💖
That’s still foundation,, nothing wrong with it
Most CC creams ARE foundation. BB creams no - but....🙄🤭🙏💜
This is exactly what I've been looking for!! Natural makeup that isn't caked on foundation that "LOOKS" natural. TYSM
Instantly subscribed. Finally someone saying the truth about how makeup should be used

I’m so glad i found this video. Every time i wear foundation, it seems to highlight my imperfections so i’d rather just not wear it 😂

I gave up on foundation too! it makes my skin worse

Thank you SO much for the recommendation of the Redness Color Corrector! You're adorable! xo
Thank you 🥺❤️ I’m obsessed with that color corrector👌🏻

Love it❤ I stopped wearing foundation2 years ago and I also do this ❤ is lless cake feeling
I don’t like foundation either. I just use powder. Liquid foundation is like a mask
That’s makeup shaming! Also foundation comes in many forms!!! Liquid foundation is NOT like a mask! I wear it and it doesn’t look or feel like a mask!

@@ALT-vz3jnback then you guys didnt eat so much processed food so you had great skin😩.
A few years ago I just started wearing only primer and a light mineral powder. No more heavy liquid or cream foundation for me!!
I totally get not wanting to wear foundation. I love my DRMTLGY Tinted Moisturizing sunscreen, it just gives me a bit of glow and evens out the skintone ever so slightly. I do use tinted sunscreen sometimes during the day, but it's too light to even call light coverage really.
I would feel suffocated with foundation spread across my skin. I’m okay not looking “corrected “ - blemishes are natural
What about the eyes? Did you use concealer and powder underneath? And did you use finishing or setting spray
I tried to love foundation but it never worked for me. I always hated how it looks and feels.
Can you please list the exact products (brand names) you are using? Thank you!!

Ok you are hilarious and this was wonderful advice! Looking to ditch foundation completely and really needed a color corrector recommendation so thank you so much ❤️
Aw thank you!! That color corrector is BOMB 💣. I’m so happy I could help ❤️❤️
The only reason I wear foundation is to hide my dark hyperpigmentation around my lips and other areas of the face. I also have darkness around my nose
Cinema Secretes makes a great one too

Sure you don't need foundation putting all that other product over it!
