Clearly no one knows screws like an Irishman; there are 1878 screws and I take an XXL thank you. I used to be an SM (small marquee) but working the main has extended my girth. All the best guys, I just love your work. Jonathon Townsville Yacht Club, FNQ.

Hi guys. I know I'm a bit late on the scene for this, but bear it in mind for future tool use : the frequencies that power tools give off that really do the damage to your (and the dog's) hearing are outside of the audible spectrum, so every time you're using one of them you have to use ear defenders/plugs etc. You might have noticed in the evenings that your ears were ringing after using the tools for a day - that's the early onset of tinnitus, which can drive you nuts if you let it get any worse. Well done getting respirators and goggles on, and well done on the deck job so far. A lot of the deck work from now on could be done with the boat in the water, so if I was you I'd concentrate on getting out of Dodge while you can and then carry on with finishing the deck when the pressure is off. Great video again, and kudos to all of the friends that have helped you out, I really hope the karma thingy works for them too. I'm guessing 460 screws, but don't make me the winner as postage to the UK is costly.

Wow, your skin must be thicker than that teak! "Why didn't you do this?" "You should have done that!" The main thing is you are doing a good job and obviously doing some research and getting input.
I retired to North Port from Rochester, last year at 56, and just bought my first sailboat - a West Wight Potter 19. Obviously we are on different paths in life! You're both financially responsible and may be the first young couple I believe to be capable of taking an adventure like this, and will still have a comfortable and early retirement. Thanks for sharing your adventure, you are doing great!

3432 screws! Removing the teak on your deck looks a bit like what I had to go through removing the layers of cheep linoleum when I remodeled my kitchen. No fun at all! but the results will be worth it. Lots of respect for your DIY approach and hard work to get your dreams.

Wow. I'm so impressed. I thought I was the only one that put time limits and schedules to my projects. It's the only way to get things done even remotely on time. Those knee pads were probably your best value for the money in the whole thing. I'm sure you'll be even more ripped than usual after a job like this one.

I had to look it up, but for sure that's how it is. I'm looking at a yellow legal pad that has 27 lines on the page and I have 2 columns of "to do" items. A bunch of them are really important, but I swear that in two months the list hasn't gotten smaller. Items appear almost as soon as I get something crossed off. Great work on your end. It makes me feel better about my own stuff. Nothing as daunting.

You guys are so lucky it didn't rain. Glad to see you got better respirators. FYI: the purple cartridges only work for particulates and won't do anything for epoxy or solvent vapors, but you're outside so that probably doesn't matter (you still should shave).

heres something i learned while working on boats, you can use that foil style duct tape on the bottom of a thru hole in the deck to keep resin and epoxy from seeping through. then later when its cured peel the tape off. the tape is more rigid than packing tape and adheres better and hold up to the heat of the resin. also when you fill hole give the top a little counter sink, itll hold a little more resin and prevent a popout from happening (more surface area for bite).

So think about this forget the wood epoxy coat the entire deck then coat with the no slip coating. Forget the wood no repeating this project no holes to let water in or delaminate the deck. Take a look a Sailing Uma no deck boards no rails. Same with Gone With the Wynns no deck boards. Much success in your adventure. 2525 screws.

My big question is:. Did it change the sailing characteristic of the boat? You just took 1500 to 3500lbs off the boat. I know some people that added teak decking to their boat. The additional weight messed up the handling of their sailboat.

450 screws. Again, another great "Schelpisode" love the nitty gritty. Hard work now always pays dividends later. You'll know that boat better that those who built it, if anything goes wrong you'll know exactly what and how to fix it! You'll make that date, no worries.

575 screws. I have to say I look forward to your videos more so then a lot of the others now. After watching them I am starting to think maybe I can't do that full time. Lol

Gotcha - try to look at as many boats as possible but constantly keep in your mind everything $ wise doubles as you add 5ft. If we could do it all over again we'd buy a Norsea 27 or a Pacific Seacraft Dana 24 - Orion 27. Less boat = less maintenance and more adventure :)
