Wave Race 64 was literally my first console game along with Super Mario 64 when I got my N64 on christmas. The Water effects and physics were mind blowing at the time and I really loved the stunt mode as well.
This was a great video. I mastered wave race 64 and pretty much 100% all you can do while I was younger. My parents didn’t buy me a ton of games and was usually just birthday/Christmas or sometimes Valentine’s Day because my mom was awesome lol - I miss having the time to just play the hell out of select games in that NES/N64 era.
Really appreciate this retrospective. The water physics are still so impressive even today and Waverace 64 is a blast. I had dabbled with the Gamecube version, but you've inspired me to revisit it. I definitely agree Waverace and even F-zero are neglected franchises. Curious if you'd do an Fzero retrospective too ;)
One thing I most certainly don't miss about the old days of getting is the huge delay between the US launched and EU ones. And that's if we ever got the game at all! But damn, it's still crazy that it took them 5 years to launch the Game Boy game over here. I wonder if they even changes anything in the game whatsoever for the PAL launch. What I do miss about the 90s era of gaming tho is the marvel it was to behold with how technology constantly evolved and each new generation of consoles would represent such a monumental leap in what was possible compared to before. If we take 1990-2000 We literally went from the 8 bits of the NES, to the very realistic look of the PS2 era. We got to witness the advancement 16 bit provided in 2D visuals and even sneak peaks of 3D before the whole new dimension was cracked open with the N64 era. So many cool ideas ans concepts during that one decade. Today, tho, we are seeing such diminishing returns in technology. As in you can almost barely tell the difference. The excitement, magic, wonder of the next Frontier is basically non-existing. It's just more of the same.
Yes, I know. It's available here in Europe as well. Look at the text at the beginning of the video. originally I produced the video before the announcement of Wave Race for Nintendo Switch online
@PixelChronicles-i am enjoying your content since I am unaware of them previous to the translation. Of course it's not perfect but it's completely enjoyable to me
