  • This video is just an introduction of the Datsun. I wanted to include everything I could about it, so just skip to around the end of the video if you want to know my plans for it.

Beautiful! I had a 1975 Datsun pickup for 22 years before it was stolen in Phoenix in 1999. Love these trucks!

You must live in Canada 🇨🇦. I live in Bellingham, WA. Will be bicycling this summer from Flin Flon, MB back to Bellingham through MB/SK/AB/BC. Love Canada 🇨🇦!!!
I have 2-71Datsun 521's having one for 45 yrs while the other for 27 yrs. They both have the larger L20b engines and 5 spd transmissions. Cheap to operate, durable/reliable and highly modifiable are the reasons i kept them for so long. Glad i did. Drove everywhere with no failures.
    Enjoy yours!!!

I definitely believe the low mileage. I would stop the rust and clean it up. That interior should come out amazing. I dont usually like aftermarket seats but these look right at home. Lots of people went with first gen Mustang seats. I'm here for you if I can help in anyway. SUBSCRIBED

Nice blue paint job on this truck, that is a fact. I wish I could have found one of these 521 series Datsun/Nissan truck when I was living in Murfreesboro,Tennessee.

Boy, would I love to have gotten one of these 521 series Datsun/Nissan trucks when I was living in Murfreesboro Tennessee. Love the looks, love the design, loved everything about these little 521 series trucks. It would be nice if Datsun/Nissan motor Corporation would start manufacturing these little girls once again since gasoline is now going way up over 7 dollars a gallon these days. Only this time, every one of them would have a 4 wheel drive package on it so when the weather gets bad out there, your still able to get home again, and most of all, spray paint the underside of these little girls with rust olem black paint to keep them from rusting out from underneath the chassie and frame, floorboards and underneath the bed.

Hi I had one of these back in the day when I was working in New Zealand as a Datsun trained mechanic. New Zealand got the P512 which came in the version that had a 5 hoock deck which was 1 foot longer than yours as you said a bench seat. & the J13 motor (4 speed) 1300 cc. The motor was same as the early Bluebird pretty nugety!
I actually towed a rally car and at times a Stock car. (about 1500 kilo's. It was slow off the start but climbed hills as long as you let it have its head. Rust (unfortunetly) was a built in feature from Datsun in those days. regretted sellit . It was facory orang with pinstriping in white and had white stell wheels (after market) but came with that from the previous owner.
    Thanks for sharing.

My Dad bought a 71 just like this new & the blue was a little different but I sure miss that truck & I shouldn’t have gotten rid of it. It got named the Motorized Wheelbarrow & we used it as such. UA-camr “Prodject Time Garage” got a 71 that he fixed up & you can learn things from him if you haven’t seen his channel yet. I mentioned the Motorized Wheelbarrow to him & he liked it so much he made shirts. I got a few shirts & anyone can buy them from his channel.
Awsome ride & I’ll be watching.
My gas peddle was like yours & my shift knob had 4 numbers with R.

I see some rust. You should restore it before it gets worse.
I love those little trucks! I used to have a 280z.

My plan is to patch up all of the rust spots and fix any mechanical issues. Everybody I meet says how much they loved these trucks.

@@jonersmotors The 521 series Datsun/Nissan were a beautiful, fabulous well running pieces of machinery out there. Nothing out there could ever touch them, they were THAT GOOD!! Wish I could have gotten one of these when I use to live in Murfreesboro Tennessee, would love to have owned one of these when I was there in the middle 80's

@@jonersmotors You just do that. Get those rust spots patched, get her running real good, she'll be a good little dependable truck for you in the future. While at it, spray paint the whole underside of your frame and chassie, floor boards and the underside of your bed to keep her from rusting out. She's a beautiful truck, love the nice paint job on her to.

Good idea to flush out your radiator and your heater core and replace everything with new antifreeze.

That's a lovely pick up. It's really rare to see a Datsun in the UK now. Had a courtesy car Datsun 120Y coupe when I was little. It wasn't in great condition sadly

@@jonersmotors Yes. It all transitioned over to Nissan here. Came across the first 200SX I've seen for a long time a couple of days ago. Poor guy had lowered it with a body kit on and was gingerly tackling some speed cushions

Most of the Datsuns that are still around have been lowered. It's a shame not to be able to use a car like how it was intended.

@@robsmall6466 It always was a Nissan product. Just pop the hood and look at the valve cover, it said Nissan on it. The name Datsun sold better until it transitioned over to the full name it Original was, and that was Nissan Motor Corporation.
