Hitch A Ride - My LLB Top Ten #1

Hitch A Ride from Boston gets my #1 choice from several reasons. One is the great thrill it was to have my friend Tom come from NJ to play this tune with us. He's an amazing player (Blue PRS) and dear friend.
Also the first Boston record had such an impact on me, like so many other, that getting to play their songs we such a thrill. After watching Tom and James play those outro solos I had to wipe tears from my eyes - it was very moving really recording this tune - thanks for checking out my Top Ten Series!

Yeah, Dale! Such brilliant performances by every individual on that stage. Brings me back to when that song came out. I wasn’t old enough to drive but was just old enough to hitchhike. I probably “hitched a ride” in many a car with this on the stereo! This whole Boston album is etched in my memory…good times! Thanks, Dale!

This tune (and the entire album for that matter) really impacted a certain segment of kids when it first came out. It really is one of those "you had to be there to understand" type situations. This album and that song in particular STILL give me the same feelings that it did when it came out. (and yeah that makes me an old timer now) And to be honest, Frampton Comes Alive, for me, falls in this category also. (they both are instant passports to that time)
Great work to the entire LLB, this is hands down the best cover of that song ever done.

Quite simply, I am always in awe of musical talent levels (as I guy who can slowly strum chords only). Tom has a Keith Urban cover ("Stupid Boy") playing through a Telecaster and it is the best I've heard. And the power chords at the end - I love that mighty tone. Miss seeing you in Lexington covers. Was 15 when this came out. I was never a big fan of Boston, didn't dislike them, just wasn't over the top like some were. They definitely had some quality songs and their music takes me back to a different time. Saying that, the rendition you all played here is as good as it gets.

I'm in SHOCK! When I saw the banner Hitch A Ride by LLB I was sceptical. Trying to successfully cover ANY Boston song is nothing short of a delicate and monumental task. You and the band executed it with almost every nuance of the studio version but went above and beyond as a live performance with everyone in the room participating. You did BOSTON proud! I couldn't help but wipe a tear of two when the solos kicked in ,the bass,drums, vocals,hammond, harmonics,clapping and the balance of sound throughout the band. Everyone doing their best to add and not dominate or take away from the symphony of sound that was running around Tom Schulz head as he must have conceived it. I was gobsmacked the way it faded gently away. Well done!!!🎼🎶🎸🎹🥁🎤🔥🤘💗
