      Thanks Tim! I've been waiting since May, i'm pumped it's here. It's funny that I don't see the Izzo and the Epic EVO in the same light. I guess it all comes back to perspective. The EVO is a very capable XC bike and I think the Izzo is more in line with a Trail bike that should pedal really well. I'm interested to see how it compares with the Stumpjumper.

    FINALLY. I love my Izzo, it's beautiful, really stands out and performs amazing. I went DHR II on the front and Dissector in the back, grips awesome but still rolls great. If you want it faster the Dissector in the front with a Rekon in the back rolls pretty much as fast as the Forekasters do with more grip in the corners.

    I got really excited when you said "peace out dumpers" at the end. I felt like you were talking directly to me...just me. I identified so much with that phrase. And then it hit me. That's not what you meant. In the interest of full disclosure, I was watching the video while taking a dump on the toilet 45 minutes after consuming 5 rolled taquitos and a humongous California burrito with extra guacamole and spicy sauce.

  • @ronniekaftal1729

    I got the Launch Edition for more than a year now. Its an awesome bike with a few caveats. The DPS shock came with 2 negative spring volume reducers to increase pedal efficiency and suspension stiffness. You don't want any more volume reducers on the positive side as the bike wont work. it has plenty of leverage drop on the suspension. (too much IMO) so its plenty progressive, no need for reducers, you wont find the bottom out too easy as-is.
    I would add reducers up front, just to balance it up with the rear.
    the low mode is VERY low. unless you are on smooth trails or doing XC rides move it to the high, it will also fix some of the leverage curve and make the bike a bit smoother.
    Unless you are on the country side of the downcountry those tires are terrible. I am running 2.4 DHR3C / Aggressor front and rear combo that fits the bike nicely for trail riding.

    I just received my Large Izzo Core 2 last week. I can't wait to hear your impressions. My only complaint so far is the 175 cranks seem to cause alot of pedal strikes for me but I'm running thick Chester flats. Also I'm considering trying the flip chip in high position.

      Hey Mike! I'm sure I'll love it, just have to wait out some rain so I can spin it next week. I agree about it being a quiver killer possibility, especially for the type of rider I am and the terrain I normally ride. Hoping to have my first impression up late next week.

    Amazing to get a new bike in the shortages. Love the DC/ST bikes because of epic rides (30miles+) in the mid-west are just fun. Wonder if you ever will try out a hardtail like the 2022 SC Chameleon?

      It's been in the works since may. I'm looking forward to seeing how it balances those longer rides and some of the "chunkier" terrain around here. I'm not planning to ride a hard tail anytime soon, they just aren't fun to me.

    trail crusher. road 2020 with a 150mm fork. XMC wheels are super bike worthy. Slight horst wallow. Actually really, really good for a 55mm stroke shock. Rear shock pedal lever is a bit out of place during riding. But, this is a very rare bike to not really need one. Seems to be race-fast, never overwhelmed, and do-so on a solid frame.

    • @TheNationalTrails
      @TheNationalTrails 3 роки тому

      Hoping a new rocker link is released to give an option to run shock in a standard upright position... possibly add 5mm more travel in doing so... creating a real-deal trail-bike quiver killer.

    • @richdrewtherideseries
      @richdrewtherideseries  3 роки тому

      Wow, killer insight Levi! This is going to be floating around in my mind when I ride it for the first time. Where are you at? I’m curious on the type of trails you are riding. I’d also love to know your background, seems like you have some time racing.
      I have a 150mm 36 ready to go on in a few weeks and I was hoping to get a different shock on there, but it’s tight.

    • @TheNationalTrails
      @TheNationalTrails 3 роки тому

      Rode in Spearfish South Dakota for a weekend... Got in a couple 40+ mile days. The kind that blur away when the going is good. Hit a 30mph section and realized the brakes and suspension is what it is. Kind of a rare moment for me to just seriously let it go. Horseface good air off small rocks at that speed! LOL
      Rich, I've had about 10 bikes per year since 2017. Lived near South Mountain from 17-20 and eventually ended up seeing your vids here on PB.
      Believe it or not, I bought a used Orbea Rallon size large in Bentonville this summer. First time in the area. First place I went to ride I somehow managed to park near the epic Van bro! Didn't say anything to ya. Seen first hand the lines you've earned up on the National.
      My fav trail is complete National from I-10 to LaVeen and back on Desert Classic. Kind of a Morpher trail seeing the full 26-miles of South Mountain on a legit mtb. Good place to explore. One evening back in about 2018, on the National and the Mormon, it had rained so hard that water was a flowing like a series of mountain stream. Best evening-to-night ride ride ever for that area.
      Currently on a 2021 Occam M10 size large and a 2021 Fuel EX 9.9 size large. The Fuel has a MegNeg RS DeLuxe Ultimate. Dude! Rides super-high near SAG. 170psi in that shock vs about 215 in a Fox DPX2. Helps the Fuel feel solid like an Izzo. An actual total Race-sharp connection with the bike.
      Oh, no racing. Lots of Dirt biking back in the 90s. Family trips to go hiking near 2010. Took to biking in 15 thanks to a racer from Fountain Hills. The dude has a 2011 Spearfish 29 dialed with the right stem and tires. Year and half went by in a flash thanks to that setup!
      Yeah on the rear shock spacing. I put on a Trek Fuel 210x52.5 Re:Aktiv rear shock for the Penske Valve. The 2020 model does not have a pedal mode. Penske valve auto opens to full-open seemlessly. Not quite pedal-mode firm. But, the bike is already sharp.
      Anyway, I'm just a good balanced-motor riding around in some new country due to COVID and corporate video production disappearing. Good style with your vids by the way. I realize it's not easy work.
      But, yeah, after owning so many bikes I'm attempting to be truly strict about what's worth the pedal or not. Still no perfect bike or perfectly engineered bike. Will sometimes even re-buy one just to see the progression. Guess it's something to do since the clock isn't really there to give me a place in the race.
      Interested to see where the IZZO goes. The carbon build-up around the rear shock mounts and the rear horst link bearings are next level. This bike means business. Actually, the IZZO and the Fuel EX both make me want BB92 vs threaded. It rides with Real Force. Not sure if it's Pivot Switchblade force per say. But, the front triangle makes me think of how a Prane Mantis might ride with the 150 fork setup. Similar to Jeffsy in that regard. The rear triangle somehow feels poised and ready like the thought of the front triangle. Has a true sense of staying on top of the trail to stay in motion and retains an active sense for the next feature. The Jeffsy leans more toward the motocross spectrum. Rode an XL Jeffsy and thought it was perfect till I had to face reality on tight switchbacks going down Geronimo on South Mountain. Anyway, the size Large Rallon would later be another milestone for me in terms of what fits right. Technically, this IZZO does! And that means more watts for ya! And naturally. Enjoy!
